Is there one yet? If not, should this be it? I’m starting tonight, so officially November, but hey! Am so nervous, woke up early this morning with anxiety. Would love tips from anyone who has started before on what / how to eat on first few days..I’m really concerned about debilitating side effects- should you just listen to your body or force yourself to eat chicken?! I keep seeing all these insta posts about eating protein!!

Hey!
After many months deliberating, I've started Wegovy this week.
1st jab had on Sunday.
Feeling alright so far, though have started on a half dose as I seem to be sensitive to most things.
Mild nausea and heartburn (but get those anyway, this is just a little different somehow) and am cold.
But thats about it.
Don't think I feel as hungry/impulsive, but probably too early to tell.

I’ve also just started. I was mulling over waiting until after Christmas, but in the end, I decided the sooner the better. I took my first dose yesterday. Had a bad headache today.

Gardener82 · 17/12/2025 07:27

Thanks all, I weighed myself again last night and I’d actually dropped again, god knows what was going on with me yesterday.
I’ve got two more weeks left on 2.5mg and my 3.75 is arriving today. I can’t wait to go up because 2.5 is really only causing suppression for 4/5 days.

Florrieboo · 17/12/2025 19:35

Just hopping on here, I started Mounjaro two days ago and have about 20kg to lose. I am hoping to just stay on the low dose for a few months and retrain my brain to just eat less! I am in menopause so have found losing weight really difficult. I felt pretty gross the first night after I took my injection but I feel fine now, food noise totally gone which is amazing.

cobblers00 · 17/12/2025 21:01

Welcome @Florrieboo- glad you’re feeling better. Isn’t it wonderful to not be thinking about food all the time, especially this time of year. Usually by now I’m into a regular mince pie a day habit plus a load of quality st/roses every evening. This year, tried half a mince pie earlier- nope, won’t be needing that again!

How’s everyone? I’m feeling a bit better this week, no migraines so far, fingers crossed!

Heluvathing · 17/12/2025 21:27

I’m in but probably won’t start till Jan 2 when all my guests eiii have left. I’m feeling really intimidated by how complicated it seems and worried about side effects.

Hello, it’s not complicated honestly though I do think some posters enjoy making it so. I’m not personally taking any notice of the ‘eat clean’ brigade and I’m just stopping when I’m full 😃
I suffer from terrible migraines and they were a problem when I first took this medication 15 years ago for diabetes, most people don’t suffer with side effects other than a slightly dodgy tummy though so don’t worry!

Colinthedaxi · 18/12/2025 08:10

I took my second injection yesterday (which was day ten) and feel much more normal. Thirsty, so drinking more water, which I should do anyway. Certainly feels more manageable.

I am in my 7th week now and dont find it complicated. I am trying to eat much cleaner as for me it's about more than just losing weight, its about my health as I got into very bad habits of convenience food due to busy life. I am not quite there will the balance of what I would like to eat but I am eating plenty of protein and less carbs than normal and it seems to be working well.

There is so much good info on the oct/nov starters threads, I found it really useful to go to the month before (oct for me) to see how people had got on with regards to days, doses, side effects etc.

Just ask as many questions as you need to as I am fairly sure many of us have felt the same.

Are you still getting migraines now with it? I have found mine have been better but I am guessing that this is due to less crap food and way more water?

PersephoneSmith · 18/12/2025 10:06

I’ve not had any migraines since my third dose on Monday. Last week I had 3 in 3 days. Big relief to be honest, I am really hoping I get some benefit from the drug, inspired by all of the people reporting many stones of weight loss. Plus migraines can be a vicious circle, I get so depressed and miserable when they hit, especially if my pain medication doesn’t manage to stop the pain.

SexyFrenchDepression · 18/12/2025 10:14

@PersephoneSmith I used to have daily meds for migraines but had to come off them as had been on them too long. At the moment I am having shock wave therapy for an injury and cant take anything with an anti inflammatory so have amitriptyline for bad days and just paracetamol other than that. Unless you suffer with them I dont think people actually understand how bad they are. Mine start in my teeth and I feel like I want to rip them out, as dramatic as that sounds!

MrsTigerface · 18/12/2025 10:16

Morning all. Third dose taken yesterday, and I had a weigh in a day early today as we’re out overnight tonight. 3lb down, total 9lb since start, so pleased with that.

Second pen ordered yesterday; another 2.5mg mj. Still unable to eat much and nauseous some days. No way could I entertain 5mg yet! It has been interesting to read about appetite suppression wearing off after 4 or 5 days for some people…when is that going to happen to me?! The one thing I have learned about these drugs is that they really do affect us all so very differently.

StrongGirlsLift · 18/12/2025 10:31

Hi all, a mixed bag here for everyone! I am on wk3 and am having a bit of a shocker - I feel sick, exhausted, and generally run down. I’m stuck around 6lbs down, so am not getting the positives while feeling pretty crummy about the downsides! I’m waking up with headache and early migraine symptoms every day at the moment, but I feel confident it’s work stress after a run of bad work weeks (in a run of tricky work months/years!)

I’m managing to eat pretty clean, no snacking, very little sugar (actually, that’s probably feeding the headaches, a bit of withdrawal!), and to exercise. I am pretty hopeful I’ll see more weight loss soon, but every day I feel a bit surprised to see the same numbers. Haven’t been to the loo as much though which I suspect is the culprit.

I’m enjoying not having any bloating, but do have some heartburn.

re migraines, I had an excellent acupuncturist a few years ago who more or less cured me for about 18 months - I moved just before the pandemic and haven’t managed to go back. I was super skeptical but it really helped, and I had been finding the daily migraine meds to have intolerable side effects; a lot of tingling in my hands and feet, for one. I recommend trying it!

How you now?
I'm feeling pretty good so far.
Not sure yet if its working well, is placebo effect or if im eating better (less) because I know if had the jab, but according to my scales im 2-3 lbs lighter than Sunday.
I dexoded to just get on with it. I'd been procrastinating for far too long, and simply just needed to get started and give it a go!

I have had awful migraines since I was too young to be able to describe what was happening. One of my earliest memories was being in hospital around the age of 3, not understanding what was happening to me.

At the age of 7 a hospital stay of about 2 weeks ended with my parents being told that they had worked out I was suffering from 'just migraines' and the medical profession lost interest.
I have tried amytriptaline, knocked me out cold, I couldn't function at all, unfortunately.
My mum paid for acupunture when I was a teenager, no effect.
Ironically I found my effective pain killer accidentally a couple of years ago. I cought ibuprofen lysine by mistake, I had no idea it is different to regular ibuprofen. If I take it at the very beginning of a migraine onset it stops the pain!

StrongGirlsLift · 18/12/2025 18:37

Poor you @PersephoneSmith , sounds awful. Mine started around age 8 and I remember being put in the storage cupboards at school where it was dark and quiet! Great tip re meds, thank you. My work colleagues used to know not to talk to me before midday as I’d be dopey from the amitriptyline, knocked me out too. I cope with triptans now.

Loads of stuff seems to be a trigger for me - booze, sugar, caffeine withdrawal, changes in weather pressure, exercise (unfortunately as I do a lot of it!), TMJ, stress, hormones. It’s easy to be seen as boring but anything to avoid a lengthy migraine. Happily, they don’t seem to last 2-3 weeks anymore!

Florrieboo · 18/12/2025 19:45

I am a migraine sufferer since I was a child as well, so debilitating at times. Luckily now my attacks are shorter and I can start to function again in a few hours. I had a run of 6 months with no attacks at all and thought I had finally "grown out" of them at 52. Two weeks ago I had a day where it came back 4 times and that was one of the worst ever. I was glad it was before I started the injections as otherwise I would have blamed it on the jab.
I am feeling really well, it is Friday morning here and I did my injection on Tuesday night, I work in a school and we break up for Christmas/Summer today and the staffroom is full of food and has been all week. I have not even wanted anything and yesterday when faced with a full morning tea only really went for the fruit platter which is unheard of for me. My friend who is on Mounjaro only weighs herself every month, I am considering doing the same, when is everyone else weighing?

Colinthedaxi · 18/12/2025 20:07

I’m going for once a week weigh ins.

cobblers00 · 18/12/2025 20:13

@StrongGirlsLiftsorry to hear you’ve been feeling rough..hope you pick up soon. i have generally felt much better since starting but always had a week here and there I felt rough for one reason or another before starting.. its just that stage of life for me (50years old!) I do think the healthier eating I’m doing now is helping.

Migraines are the worst- I get hormonal headaches, not sure if they can be classed as migraines but debilitating. I was prescribed a daily beta blocker that seems to have helped.

@Florrieboo
i intended to weigh weekly but have to admit I’ve become a bit obsessive and do it almost daily.. I’m fascinated watching the numbers decline! Even
had a couple of people notice I’m looking slimmer this week which has surprised me as only 4-5kg down.

OP posts:
PersephoneSmith · 18/12/2025 21:16

Yes, I take daily beta blockers, I have for years. No idea how much they help but they are probably good for my heart.
I can’t eat chocolate or drink wine. The worst trigger is the weather though, wind or rain in my face equals instant migraine. I routinely wear face masks and have for a long time . No more hormone migraines due to menopause was a delight 😆

StrongGirlsLift · 18/12/2025 23:02

Thanks @cobblers00 and everyone for the support! I have been feeling worse in the mornings, I think - feeling on top form now at 11pm, have always been a night owl 🙂.

I am weighing most days, but can see it’s so sensible and patient to weigh less frequently. I am just so keen to be a lighter, healthier version of myself!

SexyFrenchDepression · 19/12/2025 00:10

@PersephoneSmith that sounds really rough. The only thing that really works for me is sumatripan, the daily stuff I had worked in a similar way and that was brilliant. Its crazy how different meds work for different people though, I know a lot of people that aspirin works for but it does nothing for me at all. Amitriptyline seems ok but doesnt really knock me out which is a shame as my sleep is dreadful.

cobblers00 · 19/12/2025 06:44

Morning, this week’s weigh in today & I’m just under another kg down, so 4kg in total. Little bit disappointed it’s slowed down after that first week but it’s still a steady loss & I have been consciously trying to eat more than I did the first week - now on around 1,000 calories a day. Hit 1200 yesterday as was so hungry!! To the point I had to get out of bed & have an oatcake at 11.45, I couldn’t sleep for hunger! Also not had chance to exercise as much this week & def not done a big poo for a few days!!! TMI - Wouldn’t say I’m constipated but my ‘waste’ is so much less when I do go now! Should be jabbing today but delaying for my weekend away until Sunday.
how’s everyone else doing?

Morning. You’re doing really well. What I’d give for a big poo too!
I’m definitely feeling less of an effect in this second week. Managing to stick to around 1500 cals a day but I could probably eat more. I wouldn’t say I’ve much food noise but if there’s food there I will eat it. I still get full more quickly but there are also times when I feel hungry. Will be interesting to see if I’ve lost when I weigh in on Sunday as I don’t really feel like I will have! Probably a sign I’ll be going up in strength next time.
It really is so different for everyone and it is a great thing but not an overnight thing either!
