@myladyjane I started because I wanted to track protein. I find it easier to get enough if I do that, apart from the muscle angle it also seems to help me not to snack (as much).

DGonMJ · 21/12/2025 22:54

@myladyjane well done on the C25K!

@Aimingdown I was using MyFitnessPal but have stopped since about July/Aug.

Finished wrapping and am ready for Christmas!

Holiday nibbling has begun. A mini mince pie, festive biscuits, a stollen bite - in between shopping and wrapping.

2025istheyeari · 22/12/2025 01:00

Hi losers
Checking in from Vietnam!
that buche Noel looks and sounds amazing ! hope trip to parents goes well and that ds better.
sounds like everyone over their lurgies, yay!

Having a fantastic time here and not tracking or worrying, concentrating on having a great time! May have had a few mojitos and a beer or two but like @BlueLimesI’m not overly worried. This is part of maintenance, walking and swimming a lot and if I put a few pounds on it’ll come off quickly.

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone, enjoy the celebrations and time off work:

BlueLimes · 22/12/2025 06:52

Glad you liked it @myladyjane i remember sone of us previously talked about the horror of cross country runs. It’s so much more pleasurable when running for yourself.

I was thinking of you @2025istheyeari in a Jon stalking way. Enjoy mojito (love them!) so pleased you are having a fantastic time.

a few nibbles and wrapping done us very festive @DGonMJ

We had a festive afternoon tea, I had 2 sandwiches, 1 mini scone and half a macaroon so it was a bit wasted on me.

Family lunch today but I might just have a veggie option - I really felt the sugar fest yesterday.

Jins · 22/12/2025 07:26

Ooof. I feel enormous today. I’ve had some sort of inflammatory reaction to all the junk I’ve eaten this weekend and the water retention is visible. Just need to work out which particular item of non-nutritious but desirable food is the likely culprit. Rather suspect the Aldi caramel hazelnut Baileys type drink may be at the heart of it.

Final food shop today and I’m dreading it. However I’ve planned well and I’ll just be focusing on fruit and veg with a brief sortie into dairy. Will try to get a couple of part baked baguettes if it’s quiet enough.

I’m really envious of @2025istheyeari. Glad you’re having a good time. I’d like to be transported to a far flung beach just now.

Jabbing today. Haven’t decided how much but as 40 clicks didn’t seem to increase suppression as I’d hoped I’ll probably drop back down. Not planning on weighing until I feel less bloated. That’ll be January I guess

Thelittlestranger · 22/12/2025 07:51

Congrats on the run @myladyjane - a year ago I started running again with the Nike 'learn to like running' app. It was about slowing down, and looking around and actually enjoying it. Made a huge difference to me.

Good luck with the shop @Jins - you are brave. Our online one arrives tomorrow.

@DGonMJ my snacking has definitely started.

Today I'm finishing the wrapping, going for a long walk - think I will rest the legs from a run today - and not much else.

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 22/12/2025 07:52

Have a wonderful time @2025istheyeari , sounds fabulous.

I’ve jabbed 7.5mg this morning. Not sure 8.33mg agreed with me last week, raging reflux and just a bit nauseous, permanently.

My lamb dish was divine yesterday. We now have two lots of lovely leftovers for the next two days at home. One being my favourite chicken berry biriani, so no more cooking for me (still working until the 24th so that’s good).

Weight wise, still 1kg up from before my break.

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 22/12/2025 08:00

Oh and @myladyjane well done on the 🏃‍♂️. I meant to ask how you were feeling but you must be better.

HeidiLite · 22/12/2025 09:02

I am definitely considering a tropical Xmas for next year. Very interested what you think of Vietnam, @2025istheyeari , have always wanted to go. Thailand is of course always an option but I'm thinking we would want to do something different.

Currently at airport, flying north though. Airports at Xmas time are the usual hell on earth.

Zempy · 22/12/2025 09:33

So jealous of those in warmer climes for Christmas.

I have decided to not jab until I really feel the food noise. It will be interesting to see how it feels.

I was looking at photos of my big night out with friends and felt so different to last year. Then I was almost sickened by how bloated I looked. Now I look sort of slim and tidy and self contained.

I will enjoy my Christmas food and of course the Bailey’s! But feeling some control is amazing isn’t it? I just wish the people who feel like that “naturally” could understand what it’s like to not have the off switch. At least my friends seem to have stopped talking about my weight so that’s a relief. Is anyone still getting the “comments”?

Polkadotdash · 22/12/2025 09:51

I’ve decided to delay my jab this week until Boxing Day. I spent the whole weekend feeling so nauseous that I barely ate. Yesterday I had tomatoes on toast for lunch and four mouthfuls of pasta for my tea. Not great at Christmas! It’s making me really grumpy and tired as well.
Did the big shop (via click and collect) on Saturday only to find that yesterday my eldest dear child had organised a Christmas dinner with his mates and offered to provide all the vegetables. So today I have to replace all my potatoes, carrots, parsnips and sprouts. Plus I’m working today and tomorrow.
I am feeling like a properly mean little Grinch today. Still haven’t braved the scales yet either.

Zempy · 22/12/2025 10:27

@Polkadotdashsurely eldest DC goes to the shop to buy what he has promised?

Polkadotdash · 22/12/2025 10:57

@Zempy yes, he probably should. The dinner he had was yesterday so the veg has already been consumed. I’ve also discovered that all the cereal and orange juice I bought has been consumed as well. FFS. I’m half tempted to just leave it all gone and they can have a very barren Christmas Day feast.

myladyjane · 22/12/2025 11:25

@Polkadotdash he 100% goes. Honestly I swear that some partners/kids think Santa brings all the Christmas planning too. I’ve just had my umpteenth discussion with dh about when to do the food shop (tomorrow late afternoon fact fans) and that he doesn’t need much more. I don’t give a crap you great baboon! I need stuff….

i am feeling a bit funny food wise. I did a slightly lower jab on Saturday and i am getting really hungry but then very easily satiated. Then hungry again. Thinking about food more than normal but also very easy to leave it. Not excited by Xmas food - it feels daunting tbh.

I have to work today and tomorrow until
mid afternoon so until then it’s still business as usual food wise.

MJalltheway · 22/12/2025 11:37

Agree with @Zempy , despatch child to the nearest Aldi/Lidl and stock up on the 5p veg! I'm starting my Christmas prep today, red cabbage and swede first. Got my click and collect order later, so can see then if we are missing anything.

I haven't weighed for a few days so hopped on this morning and am at my lowest ever weight - 70.2kg! Still creeping downwards which is unbelievable given the amount of chocolate I'm eating.

also jealous of the warmer climes! We went to Egypt last Christmas which was amazing. No holidays before exams this year though 🤨

Jins · 22/12/2025 13:25

I’m off to the shops. I may be some time and my mood won’t be as good as it is now

BlueLimes · 22/12/2025 16:19

Oh god I am fed up of people already.

@Polkadotdash he definitely replaced the veg, cereals, juice.

Polkadotdash · 22/12/2025 17:12

The veg and other bits have now been replaced and have big stickers on them in the fridge saying ‘do not eat’. DS and DH went to supermarket when DH got home from work. He said it was full of men wandering about like they had never been in a Tesco before. Which I suspect is the case.

Jins · 22/12/2025 17:36

My Tesco was full of couples. ‘Together we’re doing our shopping’ couples. They took up twice as much space as they needed to and didn’t seem to be able to agree on anything. I managed to get most of my list sorted but the party food that it appears we must have was in short supply so the Jins household will do without.

DH announced this morning that he’d got most of my present but wanted to get me something sewing related so could I give him some ideas. This question really should have been asked some time ago. My little secret present to myself is the thought of him trying to track down a tailor’s clapper. I don’t even know what I’d need one for if I’m honest but I’m filled with amusement at the thought of him asking in shops on Xmas Eve.

So I’m done. If anything has been forgotten then we’ll make do with what we have

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 22/12/2025 17:57

I’ve actually got a tailors clapper @Jins 🤣. Couldn’t tell you where it is in my extensive walk in cupboard of things that haven’t seen the light of day for a decade.

My last minute ordering/next day deliveries has gone reasonably well, whistles, Hobbs, jigsaw, brand alley - all 10/10. John Lewis 👎, I bought three items, two became unavailable within ten minutes of my online order. Money had changed hands. I currently have the top half of a set, bottom half due in the new year ☹️. I really wouldn’t have bought the top alone, neither would I have paid £8 for next day delivery for a top that doesn’t have a bottom! Not sure what I’ll do for a gift for the top no bottom person!

I’m thankful that I don’t need to shop, just collect my order from the butchers at 7am on Xmas eve, that’s my contribution!

MJalltheway · 22/12/2025 18:20

Nice work @Jins and good luck finding a tailors clapper MrJins! I bought my DM and my DSis (and me...) some really nice sharp quilting scissors.

We've just picked up our shopping order, sadly this year my amendments yesterday didn't save so we now have enough sprouts to sink a ship and 4 different cauliflower cheese options 🤦‍♀️ Cheaper than 3 turkeys though! We also did a whizz round Tesco and no party food could be found - but our Tesco is newly refurbed and absolute shite now.
off to watch a festive show at the theatre tonight with DDs 🧑‍🎄

DGonMJ · 22/12/2025 22:10

We’ve got the Turkey! A prepped and stuffed crown from Cook. Its on a 48 hour defrost in the fridge.

Out of Office is ON! I’ve managed to power through so much in December…honestly can’t believe what I’ve achieved.
Unfortunately I’ve got a couple more loose ends to keep an eye on, so will be checking emails over next couple of days.

I’ve also booked a massage and a facial for tomorrow. So I will spend two hours in a dark room with my body and face being gently lathered with aromatherapy oils and anti-aging lotions.

Aimingdown · 22/12/2025 22:31

Sounds perfect and well deserved @DGonMJ

Jins · 23/12/2025 11:06

Morning all. I’ve sorted the coat mountain in our cloakroom and removed 8!!!!! DH has many coats it appears. I’m on bathroom cleaning this morning then I’ll move on to trying to find homes for things that have been deemed duplicates. Q - how many of these airers do you use A - all of them. Apparently the obvious place for some of these things including my step ladder is in the shed! I use my stepladder several times a day. I know where he’s coming from, there isn’t much room but we disagree on essentials.

2 whole pounds up this morning so that’s the day after jab pound and another one to join it. Inflammatory reaction has become constipation so hopefully won’t last too long.

DGonMJ · 23/12/2025 21:15

Evening friends. I’ve eaten so much cheese today. I skipped breakfast, had my massage (knots in shoulders were ridiculous) and then was starving for lunch by 2pm. Went to a tapas restaurant and over ordered. Then ate cheese and crackers for dinner while watching a movie with DS1. It’s definitely feeling like Christmas now.

@jins well done on the coat mountain, ours is a never ending battle. And with the presents piled up in our bedroom it just feels like we’ve given up on keeping things in their place. That’s a Boxing Day job.

Might not weigh till the weekend.
