Morning losers. The fatberg stands at 437 which is a horse. We’re nearly at a vintage Fiat 500 and not far off half a tonne.

Weigh in day and I’m down 0.6lbs to 8st 9.2 which puts me in a great position for a bit of festive greed.

The kitchen is finished! Today I start the mammoth task of putting it back together

myladyjane · 19/12/2025 08:31

Well I got clobbered in the drs for a stealth weigh and measure! I only went in for my routine 2 year thyroid bloods check

good news - even in joggers rather than my usual starkers I weighed 2lb less than at home.

bad news - I’m half an inch shorter….

i have decided that was just bad posture though ;)

BlueLimes · 19/12/2025 08:36

Well done @Jins and exciting re kitchen
2lbs less is fab @myladyjane

Amazingly not hungover ,

Polkadotdash · 19/12/2025 10:18

I can only add a measly 36lb to the total. 🙁 Still feeling very disheartened about rate of losses compared to you all. I know a loss is better than a gain and that I am very much in better shape than this time last year. But I’m still in the overweight category, still wearing shapewear and hiding in photos (apart from my moon face, which I cannot hide). Plus I’ve accrued over £1k debt paying for injections. Not in a very Christmassy vibe today!

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 19/12/2025 13:43

Me too @Polkadotdash , I'm sorry you are feeling low. You have done a remarkable thing for your long term health already, so try to focus on the good stuff, that is more than 2.5 stone isn't it.

I get it though, it is a slog for some of us, I am sure that you are as bored of it as I am and it is hard to celebrate our losses at times. 💐

My goal is actually still in the overweight standard BMI category, (25.9), I really don't want to be too thin as I approach 60 as I know I will find it ageing, a size 12 in whistles/jigsaw etc is perfect for me. I'm not sure how old you are but guidance for someone my age states that a healthy BMI is between 25 and 27 - offers bone health benefits.

Keep on keeping on my friend.

Aimingdown · 19/12/2025 13:47

@Polkadotdash I understand your frustration but that’s still a thumping loss and you must look very different (and be a lot healthier long-term). Surely long-term loss also equates to long-term better habit forming which has to be a good thing?

The maintenance pill sounds very interesting, I wonder how it will be regulated? I can so far see a clear path to cutting down the injections but I’m still not sure what my provider’s position is re. maintenance going forward. I assume medication like this will always be on prescription as it’s too powerful to be available without some kind of consultation, but who knows?

HeidiLite · 19/12/2025 13:56

I also wonder what happens when the jabs go generic, there will likely be a massive black or grey market consisting of people who won't qualify officially but want to drop some weight.

Jins · 19/12/2025 14:05

Over the last year I’ve come to the conclusion that it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if the jabs were available to anyone over BMI 25. I know there’s the eating disorder argument and that’s very valid but if I’d have been able to access something as effective as this when the weight started to pile on I’d have grabbed the opportunity. I see my future maintenance involving going up and down doses to match my needs. If I could have arrested my weight gain before it got too bad and maintained by taking jabs or not I think I’d have done it.

I thought I’d want to switch to tablets but I’m not so sure anymore. The benefits I’m seeing from the jabs would have to be there for me to take a gamble. The anti inflammatory effect is such a huge bonus.

HeidiLite · 19/12/2025 16:57

I agree Jins. Most of my life I've been unhappy with how I looked, fighting my weight every day - if there was a pill that actually worked and helped me to be slim instead of chubby, that would have been literally life-changing.

The pill is also GLP-1 so I'm thinking should work similarly?

Polkadotdash · 19/12/2025 18:10

Oh thank you all. I had a little cry reading your responses. Everything is getting to me a bit today. Christmas overwhelm, Wegovy making feel sickly, still tired and probably hormonal. Next door’s builder has been drilling all day. Argument with DD about not wearing a crop top and pj bottoms to non-uniform day (she’s bloody 11 as well). Just had enough I think!

HeidiLite · 19/12/2025 18:32

commiserations @Polkadotdash , I have a 10yo with strong opinions and questionable fashion sense as well

DGonMJ · 19/12/2025 21:16

Evening losers. So last night I went for a festive dinner with my old school friends. It was the photo from last year’s dinner that gave me the push to order MJ. This year’s photo was lovely, I’m happy with how I look but also how I feel, and really happy to have those same friends.

Thelittlestranger · 19/12/2025 22:38

@Polkadotdash keep on keeping on.

@DGonMJ that's an NSV there. brilliant.

I've been to the panto and eaten pizza and ice cream tonight. Tomorrow I'm attempting to run my longest ever distance, so will think of it as fuelling up...

Aimingdown · 19/12/2025 23:35

@Thelittlestranger hope that goes well! I did a couple of runs this year and was shocked by how much less I have to carry around.

BreezyPeer · 20/12/2025 06:37

Week 49 1lb loss
Total loss so far 5st 7lb
So, I am now officially in maintenance.
I am continuing to jab 5mg every 10 days rather than every week.
At some point, after Christmas, I will reduce this to 4mg amd keep reducing. I have enough MJ for a year if I am sensible. I hope this is long enough to reset my set point.
Good luck to everyone weighing and jabbing xxx

Thelittlestranger · 20/12/2025 07:41

Thanks @Aimingdown I started running again 1 year ago, when I started MJ. I decided to run for pleasure though - and ran the dogs around trails, up hills. Stopped when I wanted to, slowed down if I needed to. Running has become something I love doing and I expect part of that is because it's easier without lugging the extra weight around. Will report back on distance, but it's with my mate across the ranges - stopping for coffee, and just seeing how far we get. Looking forward to it!

HeidiLite · 20/12/2025 08:40

@Thelittlestranger I notice that I have also started thinking about food as fuel - how I can turn all those calories into muscle. Off to gym shortly to work on that, upper body day today.
And yes how much easier is running! Never liked it much and I always choose weights or a cardio class over running, but now, it's really not that bad.

As expected, DH has managed to catch the virus going around. So far just snotty with sore throat, so hope he improves and doesn't infect the rest of us. Flying to see my family on Monday, so he has the weekend to get better.

Aimingdown · 20/12/2025 10:01

🎉🥳🎉🥳🎉🥳 @BreezyPeer!

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 20/12/2025 10:07

@BreezyPeer wow that’s awesome 🤩.

Back to a 4st, 56 lbs loss today here.

Is anyone else still struggling with food shopping/planning? I just cba to think about it most of the time anymore which is such a change for me as a really enthusiastic cook. I’m cooking for friends tomorrow so need to be on my toes as everyone knows me as a great cook. Menu still undecided 😅.

I’ve been shopping and bought Christmas treats today, stuffed dates, truffles, German biscuits, florentines etc. I haven’t really thought about that stuff until now, my kids don’t seem to have missed it which is surprising. Even my dark chocolate advent calendar is barely opened 🤯.

BlueLimes · 20/12/2025 10:32

Yay @BreezyPeer so pleased for you 😍
Keep going @Polkadotdash it’s tough but you’ve come so far - I get being slow but it is worth it. I love being thinner.

@PenelopesProteinPackedParty I’ve probably got too much - a Yule log and colin the caterpillar as well as a Christmas pudding/ mince pies.

I have lost a liking for Lindt balls which is so odd ! I loved the orange, coconut or pistachio ones.

Polkadotdash · 20/12/2025 10:43

@BlueLimes i attempted to have a baileys last night and couldn’t finish it. I normally drink it by the bucket load. It was just too creamy.

Jins · 20/12/2025 11:07

Morning all and hoping @Polkadotdash finds and alternative drink! We’ve just necked a bottle of Aldi’s chocolate hazelnut and caramel version in about 4 days. I don’t like baileys at all but this alternative I do like!

Haven’t weighed this morning as I tested a few more things last night after a particularly carb heavy hello fresh meal. Woken up with a rumbly tum this morning which shouldn’t be the case with a high level of MJ onboard so it’s the pesky carbs causing issues.

Kitchen nearly sorted, just need to find homes for a couple of things that seem to have been declared redundant. They aren’t. They are useful implements that I use several times a week. I’ll squeeze them into a cupboard to protect them. Finally felt like getting the tree down then discovered that last years lights weren’t there. Remembered I’d moved them on last year and failed to replace them. Managed to get the last decent sized set on Tesco’s reduced shelf so we now have a twinkly living room.

Grecianrainbow · 20/12/2025 11:24

3st 13lb from me in all since the start to add to the group total. Insert shocked face!!!!

Nsv is that I’ve almost ran out of trousers that fit, had to go shopping for some emergency ones - I really did not want to face shops the weekend before Christmas and ended up with some size 12s!!!! Caveat that the size 14 jeggings from m&s that I’ve had for a decade are the same size so I think there’s definitely some vanity sizing in play now even so I am pleased 😀. That 1lb a week adds up even for the slow losers.

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 20/12/2025 11:29

I went to Aldi today for wine and came out with a trolley full of other things. I usually go for wine, soya yogurt, cleaning products and large prawns. Anyway I noticed a mint choc flavour baileys substitute. Sounds nice! Didn’t buy it as we’d either drink it all fairly quickly or not at all and I decided I didn’t need it.
