I have a similar hope about exercise. I was very much addicted to exercise during the pandemic.
Food noise is one thing, but the shriek of hunger from my stomach when I missed a dose was crazy. It didn't make sense, it felt artificial. My stomach will have shrunk since May and I didn't get crazy hungry before then, it was the beer that was the problem.

Gingercar · 16/12/2025 15:45

See I absolutely haven’t had that. I can forget to take an injection for a couple of days and not notice. I think we actually missed a jab from the first pen because we ended up with two golden doses, but I couldn’t tell you which week.

Placestogo · 16/12/2025 16:15

I also forget about injecting too, i need a reminder- but i wonder if it is because im doing it every 4 or 5 days and the levels in my blood are less up and down so i feel less than ebbs and flows of the MJ?
saying that i did have to increase my dose recently because i could see i was snacking/drinking more. But not a hunger feeling per se more like emotional eating. Someone please do a PhD on that topic!!!!!

Gingercar · 16/12/2025 16:24

Yes it would be interesting! I’m doing half amounts every four days at the moment to see if it stabilises or has more effect. I forget the odd day regularly, but think it’s because it’s not the same day every time.

HKG · 16/12/2025 17:29

@Gingercar and @DidILeaveTheGasOn so interesting that you guys are fellow ditherers! Totally with you on this. It is just such a lot of money that I frankly need elsewhere. i keep asking myself that too about if I gained a load back would I pay the £600 to instantly lose it. This is what keeps me on it I suppose.

like you though, I have lost over the 20% they say so I’m wondering is that it? And if I stop for a while and restart will that give me another 20%???

Gingercar · 16/12/2025 17:56

No it’s not it, surely. Plenty of people have lost lots more. It just steadies out. If you read the threads from months before us, it’s taken them a while if they’d a lot to lose. They all seemed to have slow progress At frequent occasions.

For me, we’ve had a few big vets bills etc and other things we’re scraping money towards. Things changed, the house didn’t sell and I don’t feel like I can justify more being spent on it after these pens are done. But it is nerve wracking!

ElsieJay · 16/12/2025 18:07

Thanks, @Apprenante and @Gingercar.
Will bear the sourdough in mind for the future but wary of becoming too fond of bread again, it was a hard addiction to break !

SutekhsEars · 16/12/2025 19:23

I've been lurking on the maintenance thread a bit, and it struck me that a large-ish percentage of successful maintainers seem to be weightlifting. Quite a lot seem to be lifting heavy, rather than a YouTube vid with some dumbbells.
I've been meaning to start for a while, but manaña manaña .... maybe something for me to commit to in the new year? But I'm definitely not planning on lifting anything particularly heavy! I'll stick to Caroline girvan to start with, and see how I get on.

Foreveronaplane · 16/12/2025 22:33

fellow ditherer here too.. hit a bit of a plateau having lost 20% of my weight. Glad to know that I’m not alone .. maybe this is part of the process.

SutekhsEars · 16/12/2025 22:47

I've just worked out I've also lost 20%. It sounds more when you put it like that!

VashtaNerada · 17/12/2025 04:52

Interesting about the bread. With my SE just about the only food I can tolerate when I’m nauseous is plain white toast so I’ve kept up white bread as a staple food throughout.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 17/12/2025 10:01

I'm injecting every 8-10 days because I often forget. I skipped a dose for my birthday week and that was when I had that bizarre hunger. Maybe it was a one off though.
And I'm just now realising I was due my injection on Sunday.

AlicesMum2025 · 17/12/2025 13:11

@SutekhsEars yes, I can totally recommend weight lifting. In fact, you might be interested to hear @Gingercar, I've become a bit addicted to it.

I don't lift really heavy, but more than just the 1-2kg dumbells you'd use with a YouTube video. There's nothing quite like the feeling of looking at something and thinking 'I'll never be able to lift that 10 times' and then bloody doing it!!!

I do think though that joining a group personal training gym was the way to go for me. I need the encouragement and push from a trainer, otherwise I would just do the bare minimum and not get the full benefit. It's expensive but it makes me focus on getting the most out of every session, and it's not as pricey as a personal trainer. If it gets too tricky financially then I might just have a personal training session to get started with a programme and then maybe one every 3-4 months to check in and get the programme updated.

AlicesMum2025 · 17/12/2025 13:13

I thought it was only me that forgets to inject!! (or is too lazy to go downstairs and get it from the fridge when I've already settled in bed and then realised it was jab day)

Gingercar · 18/12/2025 20:59

I forget to quite a bit too, and also can’t be arsed going downstairs to get it when I remember in bed.

In fact I’ve just realised that I am three days overdue. But unfortunately I have a sad excuse in that my mum died yesterday after a fall and operation.

Placestogo · 18/12/2025 21:44

@Gingercar i am so sorry for your mum, what a shock! I hope you take care of yourself, dont worry about MJ.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 19/12/2025 09:22

Gosh I'm so sorry @Gingercar .

Apprenante · 19/12/2025 09:30

@Gingercar what a sad time for you. I hope you have people around to support you. Sending ❤️.

Gingercar · 19/12/2025 10:31

Thanks everyone. I’m ok. Very sad, but also a little relieved because she’d been very poorly for a long time and hadn’t had any quality of life for over five years. I’m also full of a cold. I’m a bit sad because she was always a weight watcher and will never see me at goal (she nagged me a bit about losing weight all my life).

WhynotJanet · 19/12/2025 11:10

So sorry about your mum @Gingercar. Sending ❤️
