Back on track this week but my feud with my scales is continuing and I fear one of us will end up on the news.
Tiny little meals. Less wine. Plenty of exercise. Scientifically impossible for weight to have increased. But the scales, idly looking at their nails and sighing in a bored fashion, say otherwise. Three pounds up, they say.

Apprenante · 12/12/2025 16:06

@DidILeaveTheGasOn your scales are clearly suffering from dyscalcula or possibly just nastiness.

At this time of year many people inanimate objects suffer from high levels of stress. Throw a cup of soothing camomile tea over the scales and then let them have a good long soak in the bath. Scented candles and soothing music are optional.

I guarantee that they won't tell you that you've gained weight again.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 12/12/2025 18:03

@Apprenante That made me laugh, love it!

ElsieJay · 12/12/2025 19:00

Thanks, @Placestogo .

I’m stretching out doses from a 5mg pen at the moment, I’m keeping it in the fridge (in a tomato paste box 🙄) and seems to be ok.
However, I’ve had random nausea on and off ever since the beginning so I feel your pain.

SutekhsEars · 13/12/2025 07:54

Sorry you're feeling rough @Placestogo . Hope it's not the age of the pen - my current one is about six months old!
I'm half a kg up this week - I'm only surprised it's so little, as I've been eating chocolates in front of the TV every evening. I'm going to take a mini-dose today, so I can avoid taking all the paraphernalia away with me when I go on my pre-Christmas visits next week.

VashtaNerada · 13/12/2025 23:33

Just worked out I’ve lost 20% of my body weight so far! Hadn’t occurred to me to work it out before.

Placestogo · 14/12/2025 09:07

@VashtaNerada 🥳🥳

i am finding that i dont like some of my old clothes anymore… maybe they were nice 5-10 years ago but even if they are in good condition now, they just dont suit me anymore…. A clear out is needed!

I’m really glad you said that. I threw a lot of smaller clothes out six months before I started the jabs. We were moving house and I was as being ruthless clearing out. I figured I’d not lost the weight in a decade so obviously wouldn’t get into the clothes again. Ironically they’d fit me now!

VashtaNerada · 14/12/2025 11:34

I’m struggling a bit with jeans. My wide-leg jeans which were once a necessity now make my legs look much bigger than they are!

HKG · 14/12/2025 12:32

Morning all!

I wanted to say a HUGE thank you to whoever it was who recommended splitting my dose ( sorry I have a terrible memory). I did it as was on a work trip but I do t think I’ll go back now - I’ve not had any SE at all this week and actually feel pretty normal!

i can’t tell if it will affect weight loss for me (any experiences welcome) as the work trip
meant I was not in control and apparently in Geneva it is totally normal to keep a constant supply of high quality chocolate in the middle of your tables in workshops ALL DAY LONG.

anyway, thank you thank you thank you!

Gingercar · 14/12/2025 18:15

I’ve been splitting my doses for over a month now. To see if it gave me more suppression (it doesn’t, but it doesn’t feel as peaks and troughs when it comes to the couple of days before I was due a jab!).

So are you going to keep on with the split? I don’t like the extra jab and I feel like I’m getting more squeamish with it but I really like the lack of SE! I guess I feel slightly worried that I won’t lose if I don’t feel rough but I have no reason to think that.

in fact, better go and jab now…

Placestogo · 14/12/2025 21:05

@HKG i have managed to lose 3 stomes by splitting the dose so it does work, you dont need to feel ill for it to work. Admittedly i might have lost more if i had taken the full dose but at what cost (being ill/tired/not functioning)?

Thank you! So good to hear this! I was getting pretty tired of the tiredness and sickness so wasn’t sure how much longer I could keep going whilst I still have another 23lbs to go. So this is such great news!

im the same as you, lost 3 stone so far, and 5’6. How much more are you aiming for?

Placestogo · 15/12/2025 05:50

I have another 7/8kg to lose so about 16/17lbs. At 69kg my BMI will be 24.7 so just in the healthy BMI zone. I dont think it will look good if i lose more than this. Im pleased with my appearance as it is and theres no real reason i should lose more weight. Id be happy to hover around the boundary of normal/overweight
i am thinking of signing up to a gym in the new year and to start thinking about maintenance. I doubt i will need to go over 5mg (as in 2.5mg every 4 days) because the suppression is strong. I have 4 pens in tbe fridge (7.5mg) so i should be fine. I will probably stay on a low dose for ever as i find i feel so much better generally when on the jab. I do want to order one more pen with a maintenance pharmacy, as they let you order within a year. Of the last order.

This was exactly me in October, got to 24.8 BMI then tapered off for a month, but put 4kg straight back on in a scary short time. I would highly recommend tapering off for longer. But have also resigned myself to needing to be on these jabs to maintain long term. I really didn't increase my eating that much so they are doing something to my metabolism.
I'm back on them, and thankfully have lost 2kg in 2 weeks, but will be a struggle over the next fortnight to lose with parties and xmas coming up. As long as I dont gain I guess.
Good to hear you've got a long term plan.

HKG · 16/12/2025 09:23

This is super interesting. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

im thinking about taking a break for a while after Christmas. It’s financially crippling and although im still 25lbs or so to go, I’ve been stuck at the same weight for two/three weeks now and the thought of having ‘wasted’ £250 worth of jabs is slightly sickening. Thought I might give my body a break from it then perhaps go back after 6 months off. I’m not sure though - I’m only under 30 BMI now so would love to get to goal eventually!

HKG · 16/12/2025 09:24

Also weird how decisive I can be and am in all other parts of my life but when it comes to weight loss I’m at a loss! 🫠

Gingercar · 16/12/2025 09:34

I understand that. I’ve been dithering too. I’ve got a good 30lbs more to lose. It’s going very slowly and I still have virtually no suppression despite being on 12.5 and splitting my doses. I feel I’m having to use a heck of a lot of willpower for the amount of money I’m spending. I have over three pens left, which will get me through winter, but after that I’m going to stop and do it the hard way. There is so much more that we need to spend £250-300 a month on. I do feel good at what I’ve accomplished so far and I hope I can take the reins and keep going.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 16/12/2025 12:06

Another ditherer here. I can't see any weight loss on the scales but I feel about half a dress size smaller - comfortably in a size 12-14 jumper today. I think Mj is stopping me from gaining weight via any headstrong 'fuck this' reaction to the scales.
I suppose, if I stop the jabs and put weight on quite rapidly over a couple of months, would I pay £600 to instantly lose it?
It's just so expensive and I've got lots left to lose.
I'm scared of coming off Mj honestly. The sharp hunger I got when I skipped a dose was like an air raid siren. It was outrageous.

I don't know what to do. I'm mindful that the mj stats say people lose up to 20% of their body weight. I've lost over that already, have I reached some sort of blockade? Surely not.

ElsieJay · 16/12/2025 12:18

Good morning , all ! No news here, just keeping on keeping on at the moment.
One weird thing - I haven’t been eating bread for a long time, except the very occasional slice of wholemeal toast - but have been to a couple of buffets in the last two weeks and just had a small sandwich at each .
On both occasions I’ve had strong stomach cramps and diarrhoea within a few hours.
Is it possible I’ve somehow developed an intolerance ?
Both sandwiches were white bread - one was egg, think the other was ham. No mayo.

SutekhsEars · 16/12/2025 13:23

Yes, I think you can Elsie. Caveat: I have no medical knowledge at all!

I've decided I just can't wear shirts. Even with the fuckton of weight I've lost, they still gape at the bust and flap at the hips. I'm just the wrong shape for them!

ElsieJay · 16/12/2025 14:21

Thanks, Sutekh. Going to put it down to another random side effect!
Easy enough to avoid white bread in future.

I’m with you on shirts, going all the way back to school uniform days - they just look wrong on me somehow, and gape whatever the size or style.

Apprenante · 16/12/2025 15:27

I haven't eaten any white bread since I started this malarkey @ElsieJay but I've had a slice of white sourdough if I've gone out for breakfast - poached eggs on toast - and that's been fine. Sourdough is supposed to be easier to digest. Maybe you could try that?

Gingercar · 16/12/2025 15:28

It’s probably the enzymes in your stomach that are not accustomed to it bread anymore. They would adjust if you were to bring it back into your diet gradually. I think it’s the same for those of us that have cut out sugar.

I think that the food noise is going to come back if we stop the drug, but it’s something we have to anticipate and be ready for if we are planning to come off MJ, which I’ve always wanted to personally. I think I’ll alway have to fight the greed a bit. I did when I stopped smoking. I’m praying I can get myself addicted to feeling slim and some new form of exercise! Might be kidding myself.
