I've just collected my first supply and wondered if anyone wanted to join in with the journey! I'm on 2.5 and I'm 14st1, goal weight is 12 stone as that is my pre baby weight and we'll see how I feel once I've reached it!

any tips on when to take it each week? I'm going to avoid alcohol and even though snacking is my weakness I think purchasing a supply is going to make me stop in a weird way. Any tips gratefully received and if anyone wants to join the journey for support and no judgment here's the place!

@SexyFrenchDepression ooh thanks I’ll look into that. Collagen has been on my list to try as well.

Apparently my TDEE to lose 1lb a week is 1900 calories! But that is based on my Fitbit data and because I’m very active. I’ve set 1600 on Nutracheck and I’m eating between 1400-1800 a day so it balances over a week. I imagine I’ll have to start decreasing that as I lose weight but at the moment I’m losing more than 1lb a week on average so happy with that. I’m planning to stop logging calories over December, and try to just listen to my body more. Yesterday I had a cooked lunch and it did me for the rest of the day, I had to force myself to eat after my sport. It was like I could literally feel how the MJ had slowed my ingestion, was crazy.

Springbaby2023 · 04/12/2025 22:19

I say because I’m very active, but also probably because I’m more overweight than you lol! Whenever I’ve tried to calorie count before I’ve aimed for a maximum of 1800 a day and struggled with that, so this is all eye opening for me. I genuinely can already see the benefit for when I eventually quit MJ as I now have a much better grasp on calories and macros, I can see why I was overeating by so much just from underestimating calories.

I work from home so some days my steps are non existent, last week when I was off work I lost over 3lb compared to 2lbs the weeks before. I have asked for a new smart watch for Christmas to help me keep my steps up. I do a sport for a couple of hours a week but really need to sort gym attendance out, I'm so annoyed at myself.

Springbaby2023 · 04/12/2025 22:55

@SexyFrenchDepression ah you’ll get there, I bet you’ll find yourself more motivated when the weight starts dropping! I was already getting steps in (purely through school runs and dog walks) and exercise anyway so I’ve not had to start a new habit or do anything different there. Funnily enough I started strength training in April which was when I also first thought about starting MJ, I’m quite glad with hindsight I got the exercise routine going first as I think I’d struggle to start both at once. What sport do you play? I’m a netballer, really looking forward to seeing the impact that losing some weight has on my game!

SexyFrenchDepression · 04/12/2025 22:59

@Springbaby2023 I was doing weights 3 times a week before for a while, its cricket I play, indoors at the moment so lots of running, I have noticed the difference after this 1st 15lb for sure, a lot more agile. I dont know why I have stopped the weight training, I am paying a fortune for online PT and not doing the sessions. Its not the being overweight as I was happy doing it before, maybe its just laziness 😂 i really want to as I actually love it when I'm there.

Springbaby2023 · 04/12/2025 23:07

@SexyFrenchDepression sounds like it’s literally just habit / routine, I’m sure as soon as you start doing it regularly again you will stick with it. I sometimes don’t make all my strength classes but see paying the money as almost a retainer so that it’s there when I need it, rather than calculating how much I’m down by for each session I miss. Indoor cricket sounds fun, someone I play netball with has just made the switch to cricket and can’t rave about it enough, not least because she is now warm in the winter!

Haha yes, definitely warmer than netball in the winter. I will try and get my backside into the gym tomorrow!

Day 12 today for me and 16.5lbs. I admire those who are going to the gym, I have no energy at all!

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 05/12/2025 07:47

@user593 that’s a lot of loss in less than 2 weeks! Is it slowing down or are you dropping over a pound every day?

i’m Not surprised that’s affecting your energy levels.

OhCobblers · 05/12/2025 07:53

Looking for some advice please! I’ve lost 7lbs in 2 weeks but need to place an order for Week 5 onwards. Should I switch to 5mg or stick with 2.5mg? Has anyone else done that and still seen a steady weekly loss?

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 05/12/2025 07:57

@OhCobblers people do either option depending on how they are feeling.

i had moderate suppression and no real side effects so I went for 5mg. I did golden dose as well at about 3.33 mg and am now 2 weeks into 5 mg.

i have found the fatigue on days 2/3 to be really strong and am now thinking I’ll stay at 5 for a second month till I get used to it but equally I could count clicks and cut down to say 4mg as well.

Fifiellz · 05/12/2025 08:09

@OhCobblersThe general advice seems to be if your appetite is suppressed and you are losing weight to stay at the lowest dose. Having said that I was doing fine on 2.5mg until a week into my second pen when it wasn’t working as well. Instead of jumping straight into 5mg maybe try 3.75mg to see how it works - that’s my plan!

TaffyTabby · 05/12/2025 08:20

I definitely think stay at low doses as long as you can. It gives more room for going up later on if you need to, and it’s cheaper obviously.
I’ve bought a 5mg pen for next month, but going to stay on 2.5mg or 3.75mg dose.
You don’t reach steady state of the first dose until six weeks in so theoretically your levels should be higher at week six of 2.5mg than say week three. It’s hard to judge early on!

I need to start doing some basic weight training but between the kids and work, I'm just exhausted.

SexyFrenchDepression · 05/12/2025 08:50

I ordered 5mg after 2 weeks as its what the pharmacy recommended, it appears they basically recommend it regardless of weightloss if you're not having headaches or sickness. 2.5mg was actually working well for me, 15lb in 1 month although the suppression was getting significantly less by day 6/7 than early on.

I went for 3.75mg yesterday and will probably stick to that or 4mg. Will drop to 2.5mg if need be but I'm happy to use the pen for longer than the 30 days.

Thats a huge loss, I struggled with energy in my first week but couldnt eat more than 500-800 cals. I am taking various supplements and feeling loads better as also my protein intake is good now.

Fifiellz · 05/12/2025 08:59

My weights started dropping again after stalling for a while - Im now 3lbs away from the next stone bracket. When I hit that I am going to be ecstatic! Wish I hadn’t waited so long to try this!

user593 · 05/12/2025 09:19

@putthehamsterbackinitscage I seem be losing about 0.5-1lbs a day, but I don’t weigh myself every day. I have a lot to lose though so I think that must be helping, and a lot of running around with two under five.

user593 · 05/12/2025 09:21

@SexyFrenchDepression I think I need to try and up my protein. I’m just finding it a struggle to eat much at all although I’ve had a chicken breast most days.

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 05/12/2025 09:27

I think you probably just need to check you are eating enough and especially protein but allow more time to see if your losses settle. I saw you posted a huge loss in week 1 so it probably isn’t as much as it seems now?

I would focus on good healthy foods and not worry too much about anything other than eating enough to give you energy for looking after small people!

in a week or 2 you should find you’ve adapted to the jabs and see things settle down. But if losses stay good I’d stick to 2.5 for another month as well - no point in risking more side effects!

SexyFrenchDepression · 05/12/2025 09:29

user593 · 05/12/2025 09:21

@SexyFrenchDepression I think I need to try and up my protein. I’m just finding it a struggle to eat much at all although I’ve had a chicken breast most days.

I was the same even though I generally have a decent amount of protein even before MJ. Thats why I am using the clear protein and collagen glow up giving me nearly half of my RDA. Technically I should have around 70g a day but aim for around 90+ where possible. One of my favourites to get loads in is steak, or beef stir fry with egg fried rice and I stick and extra egg in for extra protein. I found my normal amount was way too much though so halved the rice but kept the meat.

That was the main thing that annoyed me was that I'd plan to hit my targets but then couldnt eat anything!

I do think it takes time though to find your feet, I just tried to take it easy that first 2 weeks and it all got easier after week 3.

Thats brilliant! I was impressed with both them and Lotus compared to my medexpress experience.

Is this correct?

Maybe it depends how you define steady state but all the graphs I've tried showing that it taps off on day 5 to 7 no matter what dose

I'm absolutely dreading today's injection. I've already gained back one of the lbs I lost. I'm not sure how realistic my reduced food is and I'm not sure how much this is helping I was planning to go up to 3.75 mg today but the idea of being worried all weekend and then into Monday, is really putting me off

I wonder if I should stay at 2.5 and just accept that I'm gonna be a very slow loser

I originally planned a three month experiment but being honest even if I've lost 12lb at the end of three months I wouldn't really consider that good enough to be on this medication

OhCobblers · 05/12/2025 11:43

Can I ask those of you mentioning 3.75 dose - is that guesswork when injecting or an official pen?

SexyFrenchDepression · 05/12/2025 11:59

@RoundandSad it definitely increases, I shared my graphs on here and after a few weeks my levels were higher than 2.5mg, I'll share some again so you can see. However the 2.5mg isnt necessarily supposed to work, its just to get you used to it so if you arent losing it may just mean you need a higher dose. Some of the old threads are really useful to jump on and ask how others who have been on it a while how they have found it. I accidently joined the year old thread rather than the new one but it was really useful.

If you lost nearly a stone in 3 months I guess the question is would you have done that at this point in time without it. If I was eating as cleanly and controlled as I am now I would lose at a similar rate to what I have been but no way is my willpower good enough, esp at this time of year, I've usually put on half a stone by now 😢

@OhCobblers its 45 clicks on the pen to get 3.75mg, its very precise.
