There are five buses a day out of the village. Grin
Luckily I've got plenty of friends with cars. They've all been amazing.

I'm the conductor of three dementia choirs, two of which are not in my own village. Lots of people are helping me out.

That's so lovely of you to run dementia choirs.does that means you visit nursing homes
My mum is in a secure nursing home with dementia ..she loves music

Weird thing, trod on the scales, I have gained 8kg. Checked with other scales. I was late injecting this week but otherwise have eaten exactly the same.

Very strange!

That's gog to be a typo, you mean a kg?

I was worried you might not be able to get to them. Sounds like you'll be fine and he will have a lonely old age

Nope, 8kg! Has the gravitational pull of my bathroom changed? It's so strangevthat I am not going to worry about it.

Wow 8kg is insane! I have had a blip where I went up by 7/8lbs I'm still not really sure what caused it high salt content I think. Anything stuck under your scales?

PositiveAttitude · 24/11/2025 09:52

My goodness, I have just had a major catch up on all your news.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOneand @Billybingbongso sorry that you have been treated so badly!
I hope you can soon look to a far brighter future, independent, loved by family, confident and proud of yourself for what you have achieved.

Some lovely NSVs here and amazing photos of you all. One day I may be brave enough to share a comparison photo here too.

@PearlTeapotyou have done amazingly well keeping up with the sensible eating. I do hope you are seeing an improvement in your mental health and enjoyed your garden excursion over the weekend.

I am plodding on here. Quite happy with my loss. I am 3 stone 11lb down since June and feeling so much better in myself.

I had a weird "conversation" on Friday. A lady came into my office, stood in the doorway and randomly blurted out "I have a friend who lost 4 stone on mounjaro" she then proceeded to tell me that he would put all the weight back on as soon as he stopped jabbing and how unsafe it was to jab yourself with something that not enough is known about!!
I know she was digging to see if I would react and confess to taking it too. Fortunately, she is someone who talks "at" you and her conversations are so one sided I never have to say a thing. I just sat with my jaw on the floor!!!
She then tried to tell me that she wouldn't be accepted as her BMI is too low. This make me smile because she is definitely a good 15 stone. (Way less than me still, but she is delusional if she thinks she is slim)

The conversation has bothered me ever since. I presume she has discussed this with other colleagues and was the one assigned to approach me to find out the truth. I don't like the thought of conversations about me taking place at work. I am senior to others there so it is all a bit weird.

We are off for a few days now, heading up towards the Highlands with my son and his fiancee. This could be a real trial food wise. My son is a artisan Baker by trade and just loves to bake and cook, so no doubt there will be a load of delights involved over the week.

I may not post much here, because I am just a bit rubbish at remembering names and responding when I should, but I do read every post and I want to thank you all for being so encouraging and helpful and open about your journeys.

PositiveAttitude · 24/11/2025 09:52

@GnomeDePlumei would check your battery in the scales. Mine does stupid things like that when they need changing.

GnomeDePlume · 24/11/2025 10:48

I dont think it's the scales as we have two. We have just got new scales and both old and new were showing similar gains. The only thing I can think is that I dont normally weigh myself on a Monday so this could be normal for me. Hey ho, I will see what Thursday brings.

@PositiveAttitude that colleague sounds like they are the one with the problem. Some people just cant cope with other people improving their lives. It's like it upsets their own world view.

diggitydoo · 24/11/2025 11:28

Hello everyone.
I'm new so I'll take me a while to get to know you all, so at the moment I feel like I'm kinda eavesdropping!

But on the subject matter of relationship changes after weight loss, when I lost 5 stone ish 15 years ago I ended up splitting up with my fiancee of eight years . And yes I think it was indirectly because of the effect of what was mentioned up thread. That I realised I had more power and ability in life and that shook the foundations of everything, my relationship being one of the casualties.

It's partly the reason I'm afraid of doing it again, as I don't want to unsettle my marriage. I'm happy in my marriage.

I've had an interesting few days food/ appetite wise. Had my second jab n Thursday and on Thursday and Friday I was ravenous! felt hungry all day and it was an unhappy effort to stay within calories. Was feeling pretty fed up, memories of horrible diets past. Saturday and Sunday had family staying, so a posh meal out Saturday night, lots of wine and treats about and a visit to christmas market (with amazing food stalls ). But I actually didn't feel hungry and didn't fancy the bread in the restaurant, just had mussels and sorbet ( gave the fries to my son) and on Sunday at the market could only manage a mug of soup while everyone else had all kinds of extravagant treats. Was so weird.

Isobel201 · 24/11/2025 11:38

8kg is 1 stone, you can't gain that much in a week unless you've been eating tons of food.

eibbed999 · 24/11/2025 12:01

I bought a walking pad thingummy, which I've just started using. I'm one of the broke-my-ankle last year crew, and although I'm now very mobile, I'm also a giant wuss. Patches of wet leaves in particular terrify me, and as the weather is only likely to get worse I thought I'd take the plunge. I wanted one before, but I was too heavy to be able to use the cheaper ones I could afford. Just had a go - I work from home, so I'm aiming for 50 mins working, 10 mins walking. Takes a bit of getting used to but I think I'll get the hang of it!

My mum is in a secure nursing home with dementia ..she loves music

All the choirs are in the community, but a great many residents from nursing homes are brought to the rehearsals.

We help to arrange lifts and transport.
Some of the members are wheelchair users, and care assistants come with them.

Other choir members are still at home, and their loved ones bring them.

You're right about people with dementia and music. It unlocks things in their brains.

We also go into care homes and sing to them (and with them).

I'm busy sorting out our playlist for January. We're currently singing Frosty the Snowman etc etc and carols.

I did a Bad Thing.

I took all his books to the village charity shop. If he wants to read them, he'll have to buy them back.

Same goes for his Dressing Gown of Doom. He'll be wondering where it is.

I only wish I'd given all his things to the charity shop...........

Oh @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I’m so sorry and thank you for sharing. What a cruel thing for him to do. It’s these men that are weak willed and it’s no reflection on you. How bloody liberating to be able to get rid of his crap to the charity shop.

Thank you everyone for your words of kindness, it’s very much appreciated. One day at a time and all that. Feeling relieved not to have to worry about taking comfort in bingeing at least .

AlicesMum2025 · 24/11/2025 14:19

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne @Onenotsosmallstep I'm so sorry to hear about what you've been going through. Sounds like you'll end up better off without them in the end, you just have to be strong to get through this time. Massive congratulations that you're still here and sticking with weight loss despite the circumstances

AlicesMum2025 · 24/11/2025 14:36

I've held off posting this for a few days because I didn't want to jump in between all of the brave sharing of personal stories, but I just have to tell someone!!

I hit a big milestone recently - I've lost 25% of my starting body weight! I still have a huge amount of weight to lose, but I couldn't have dreamed that I could lose so much.

You're probably bored of me banging on about it now, but working out has really helped me. I was worried about losing muscle as well as fat, and I read somewhere that strength training can help. So I joined my local gym for small group personal training, and I bloody love it!!! They change up the list of exercises we do every 2 months, and we recently completed a block of heavy weight lifting. Over the weeks I progressed to lifting 85kg, the equivalent of a giant panda, and approx the amount of weight I want to lose in total. It was so heavy that it really brought it home to me just how obese I was, and it's been so motivating to keep going with the weight loss and exercise (I workout 6 days a week).

Since the beginning of May I've lost 25% of my body weight, my body fat % has decreased by 17% and my muscle mass has actually increased 8%. I still don't think I look any different though 😂😂😂

justteanbiscuits · 24/11/2025 15:52

Had my check up with nurse last week.

My HBA1C has gone from 61 a year ago, to 27!!!!!!!!!

SilenceInside · 24/11/2025 16:26

@AlicesMum2025 big big congratulations on getting to the 25% milestone, that's a brilliant loss 💐🎉🎊The group personal training sounds like it's working really well for you too!

@justteanbiscuits that HBA1C result is absolutely amazing! Am I right that's gone from the diabetic range into low normal?

Yes :) I'd been being nagged for being pre diabetic for ages, and then it shot up two blood tests in a row to over 55. And it's now low normal!

TragicMuse · 24/11/2025 16:36

Oh well done @justteanbiscuits!

I cannot wait for my next check-up! I’m expecting it to be way down!

PositiveAttitude · 24/11/2025 17:05

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOneone of the last nice memories of my mum was when I took her to a carol service. She had not known who I was for a number of years due to dementia, and couldn't have a conversation with anyone, but when we went to a carol service together she smiled like she hadn't got a care in the world and she sang beautifully every single word just like when I was a child. I really treasure that memory, as I am sure the families of uiur choir do too.

@eibbed999 I totally am with you about being scared to do things after an accident. I fell down steps in the ice 3 years ago and made a right old mess of my knee, was on crutches for 8 months and have had trouble ever since, but I cannot just confidently walk down any steps now. I seem to have a mental block, and if it is icy I am scared silly and always think I am going to go arse over apex. It has made me feel as if I am really old, when I am not at all.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 24/11/2025 17:12

I'm the same with ice @PositiveAttitude I'm just terrified of it.
I'm even unhappy just walking off the kerb into the road these days (arthritis/ osteoporosis/ being old 🤣)

I have found a stick which my husband bought many years ago, after he broke his leg falling off a wall when drunk.

The stick is now MINE. The bugger doesn't need it anyway. He's got the car. Wanker.
