Pen not clicking even though loads left - waste of moneu

Ugh just typed out a massive post and lost it.

Basically, pen not turning despite loads of MJ left in there. Medexpress asked for a video and I’m not sure they’ve even watched it as I asked a question in the video and they haven’t answered it, just sent generic copy paste ‘how to prime’ ‘how to inject’ bumpf. This is my 3rd pen so I know how to do it.

Getting to 36 clicks then stopping.

AIBU to think what a waste of money, especially since the huge price hike - this pen was £200! How do I get that MJ that I’ve paid for, into my body? Help! That’s WAY more than is usually left at the end of a pen.

This is the “golden dose” that they’re soon getting rid of. It’s liquid for priming.

It’s not though, there’s way more than usually left and I haven’t had all doses out of the pen yet. I haven’t done 4x 60 clicks.

Do you normally administer a full dose and should this be dose 4?

I have found that on occasions when I click count to administer less for more gradual titration it will still only let me do this 4 times despite what people say on here.

I have insulin needles I use to draw from the pen if necessary.

So you have the 36 clicks left - the leftover from the 4 doses you’ve not taken. After that, the amount left is the priming liquid.

How many doses have you had from the pen?

Ok so I’ll have 36 clicks plus the golden dose then I guess. I’ve done 2x 5mg and 2x 3.5mg. Want another 3.5mg. So people use the golden dose all the time so surely I can too?

It’s v annoying that they ask for a video showing how you prime and use the pen (patronising!) and then don’t even bloody watch it! (I am premenstrual guys; can you tell 😂)

How many clicks are you using? It looks like you've had more than 3 doses, but a little bit short of 4.

There's nothing wrong with the pen, it is locking, as designed, about 20 clicks after the equivalent of the fourth dose (4 x 0.6ml).

The only way you can get a full 0.6ml dose out is by using an insulin syringe to extract it.

ETA. You've updated while I was typing. The 36 clicks will give you 3mg. Then, if you choose you can use a syringe to extract a further dose from what is left.

Hmm ok. 2.5 is not enough and 5mg way too strong - I don’t want to get used to not eating anything as then when I come off and eat normally, I’ll pile back on. So I’ll have to start doing the insulin injection thing i guess? Sounds difficult!

The mechanism locks after 240 clicks (4 x 60).

You have done 2 x 60, and then I'm guessing 2 x 40? That's 200 clicks.

Allowing for a click to prime each time leaves you with... 36 clicks. Your pen is working exactly as it is supposed to. If you want to extract the rest you will have to use insulin needles.

It’s really not. ChatGPT is useful to work out how many ml you need.

I did this and they sent a new pen. AND THEN I used an insulin needle to get the rest out of the old pen too.

You've customised how you've used the pen and then moan when you're incapable of using an insulin needle to extract what's left because it's locked?
Just educate yourself a bit more, calm down, order some in, and work out what you need to extract from your pen in said insulin needle. 0.6 is a full dose, work it out from there.

So you had a faulty pen. OP doesn't.

If it hasn't administered 4 full doses and is now stuck, it's faulty.

It's not stuck, it's turning for the remaining available clicks, 36 of them, as the OP has not done 4 x full doses. The pharmacy aren't going to be interested, as the pen is working as intended. The OP has used it outwith the instructions, that's all.

I've done the maths for the OP upthread if you care to take a look. She is click-counting and has misunderstood the numbers. It's not faulty.

You are nearly at the 4th dose line, so have used up most of your clicks before the pen locks. Nothing wrong with the pen.

You need to use a syringe to extract the rest.

Also if you are not following the dosing schedule, be aware in the future pens will be modified to have less fill (3ml reduced to 2.4ml - enough only for the 4 official doses). The date the modified pens will start arriving is unknown, but it should be visually obvious when they do that something is different from what we are used to.

If you fart about with clicks rather than taking it as prescribed I’m not sure you have much to complain about.

You're trying to get too much out of it.

You're on a 5mg pen...ie total of 20mg

You've done 17mg already so only have 3mg left not 3.5mg that you want. If you accidentally over clicked before this is why you're only getting 36 clicks now
