Shemed January Starters - Thread 4

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/08/2025 18:38

Hello everyone! I completely missed the other thread was full (haven't been too well this week) so I've started this one and will tag as many people as I can think of from recent pages. Do tag anyone else you think of that might miss the new thread!

I hope everyone is okay. It's been unsettling times hasn't it with all the news about the price increases and very little from Shemed as to what they are planning. I am hopeful that of all people we will be shielded the most due to being on the Study (fingers crossed).

I weighed in this morning and took second dose of the 10mg. I seemed to put on this morning but if I take the weight I've been most of this week...

I am exactly half way to my target! And I've lost 25% of my bodyweight!

10mg - so far no burps or nausea but I am wondering if this extreme tiredness is in part due to the drug. Was eating just as I was before the last couple of days but today don't want to eat so who knows!

I'll read up and tag people if I can.

I'm on my last 7.5mg MJ pen, did my week 3 questionnaire on Tuesday and I've just been prescribed 0.5 Wegovy. I think that's fair enough, not sure I'd have wanted to leap in with both feet at 1mg.

Still waiting for my despatch mail, so I think they're definitely running a couple of days slower.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 07/09/2025 13:24

Morning all. I weigh daily and I'm on 16st today but I'm happy I saw a 15!! I know it does fluctuate so not worried and as I've had a couple of big drops suspect I'll fluctuate around this mark for a bit.

@JBJ re lose skin. Yes I know I'll have lots and I've been working with my brian to try and accept this but of I was well off I'd have surgery. We will never be well off so I need to come to terms with it!!

My main one I'm aware of is my arms. I'm so much slimmer on my arms so the bingo flaps (still currently with fat on them) are very flappy. I am doing some weight work which I think will help but realistically will never fill it out.

Stomach - tbh I carry so much weight here it's still huge. But wobbly. I am sure I will have saggy skin here but will hide this in cycling shorts. I've read about the love handles dropping out under pants and will just buy different pants...

Thighs - this one I hadn't expected so much and will definitely sag.

I'm okay so far on my neck but I'm aware I'll get some folds there and I guess on my back.

I'm trying to see it as marks of what we've achieved and where we've come from... And working on acceptance. I already look so much better than I did 6months ago I'm going that it will be better than now even with the skin. The arms I'm probably more self conscious about as I wear short sleeves but long term hoping I'll just ahve muscles and skin and that will be that! I dont judge others with disfigurements etc and I guess when people first meet me they might notice and then it will just be me. I'm still impatient for a smaller body though....

@Reginaphalangeeeee Just read your repky now and see mines similar! I'm 46 and I know our journeys have been similar too ❤️.

@kittykarate Good luck with wegovy - it sounds like your win an ideal place to make the switch and yes do let us know how it goes!

Hope everyone is going well.

I read somewhere about downloading the prescriptions as evidence - so anyone thinking about leaving shemed do do that!

Well, it seems like lots of people are managing to get sorted with new providers now. I do wonder what will happen to the profits for MJ because of the changes and whether the company will change prices again.

I made the decision to stay with Shemed, and completed my final jab of MJ on Friday. My new Wegovy pen has arrived, and they agreed I could swap to the equivalent dose as I hadn’t had any side effects. They sent me a new ‘care package’ too just in case. I’m a little apprehensive, as MJ has been so good for me, not just for weight loss but improvements in overall health and menopause symptoms. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see!

Good luck this week everyone!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 07/09/2025 17:35

Yay! Let us know how it goes! I'd have stayed with Shemed if it wasn't for this recent issue (which they couldn't have predicted to be fair!). It looks like wegovy will be their new model really and when all the transfers are done I'm sure it will settle down.

Will be interesting times for us all!

I'm compeltley exhausted today. So much to do and I'm behind already with some work but had a very floppy day. I did do so yoga-type stretches from my exercise programme though and thought how much easier it is getting up and down on the floor than it was in January 😁

Good luck @Kaggi9 really hope it works well for you. Please let us know how it goes and what you notice with other symptoms. I think everyone swoopingover may have to be patient for a few weeks to get used to the new drug.
I would have happily moved over if I had less to loose still or near maintenance. I really can’t afford to stop now I have made such progress though and 4 stone more to go.

I don’t know about you @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGardenbut looking at pictures of myself I think I am not sure I am still aiming for another 4 stone.
Yes I am still big and BMI obese but I can see how much better I look for 5 stone off, I am thinking to review it in 2 stone.
i am a size 18 now but can see not too far from being into 16.
i think I will be happy at size 14 really. I guess it is something I won’t know til I get there but I know Indont want to stop just yet.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 07/09/2025 20:01

Oooh that's all sounding positive!

I'm still quite large - especially round my middle! I've got some size 20 leggings which feel tight and a couple of size 20 tunic dresses which only fit becuase they're stetchy 😳 so it still feels a way to go for me

But I wonder if now I've got to where I have now the next stone or two will make more difference? I can tell I've lost a lot of weight... But can still wear dresses I ahd before (floaty/stretchy and we're probably too small when I work them!) but the old cardi I had was huge now.

Id love to get down to a 14! In my head I'd like to get to bmi 25 but Ill see how I am on a few months I guess...

I'm loving not having to check in, and I can weigh myself on a Sunday or Monday which is always a better day for me as I seem to be constipated by Friday and then my weight is higher!

Another kilo down this week, 97.4kg, 8.8kg to go until I hit 'overweight'. So I've decided to set this as my goal, to be out of the obese category by Christmas.

This week I bought myself a new coat, it was a size 16!!!! Now there are some size 18's that are tight, and I know sizing is vanity - but a 16! I wore a size 16/18 when I was in 6th form!

I don't have a full length mirror at home, so suspect my view of what I look like is a bit skewed as I like in the mirror and only see my head and shoulders and often think not much has changed!

Same, I like to jab on a Monday, but I'm also going into the office, knowing that I don't need to call Shemed and worry how long that's going to take. Most of the time it was fine but sometimes they didn't pick up and I'd have to try again later. I will probably weigh daily but knowing that I don't have to is good.
@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I was wearing size 10, but when I had to buy new clothes they were in a 14, now I'm a 6/8 in the same shop. I think I'd stretched my clothes / didn't realise that they didn't quite fit hence they fitted until I lost the very last bit (remember I'm 5'1!! Hence the tiny sizes). I remember trying to buy new jeans and just putting them all back because none of them fitted. I just hadn't realised how much weight if put on and I just didn't fit the size I thought I was.

Size 16 is really exciting!!
I remember being a teenager and wearing size 14-16. Back the 16 was the biggest size in shops and not always available. By the time 18’s were in shops I was embarrassed by my size and claimed it was just because of my F cup boobs. Well they grew to a massive J cup as I piled on more weight. No idea what I am now but my gosh to be a size 14-16 would be great!

A celebration as I realised my BMI now under 35!!! (34.8 to be exact). Whoop whoop.
@OneAzureMaker you are steaming away below the 100 mark now. Can’t wait to get there. Maybe by the end of October if weight loss slower.

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden yes I think you will notice more loss as time goes on.
The last 2-3 Kg loss (after that long stall I had) is apparently made it noticeable to all that I have lost weight. 3 people asked in the last week. Even my mother noticed! In my head I’m thinking … it took me over 32kg before you noticed???
I’ve had lots of comments of my holiday pictures like “oh nice dress, you look lovely” my reply, it’s the same holiday dresses I wore last year. It’s weird they still fit and clearly look better now, but if I were buying I’d get them a size smaller, but maybe it’s the looser clothing people are noticing.

JBJ · 08/09/2025 09:03

Weigh in day and another 3.5lb gone, taking my total loss to 5st 2.1lb!! So nice to tip over the 5st loss today. Just hoping now that my next, ridiculously expensive pen from SheMed turns up this week, as been waiting a week now since doing my questionnaire and had no confirmation, although they have taken £279 from me, so I assume something is happening!

Hi @JBJI wanted to ask, have you the prescription? I have but not any tracking info or who is delivering? I did notice this addition on my account:
I think at nearly £300 a go, this is not acceptable that it is left in a safe place they think appropriate. Especially as mine was left in another property!!!!

I got my Numan Saturday Royal Mail and had 2 tracking numbers for that. Is this right or could SheMed have also used one and not told me. Only one package arrived.

Nope, had nothing yet other than them taking £279 off me (which is still showing as pending currently).

JBJ · 08/09/2025 12:19

Spoke too soon - they’ve just this minute issued the prescription, so might get tracking etc at some point!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 08/09/2025 12:46

Ok great. I have now got a RM tracking number but it doesn’t work & says check tomorrow 🙄

I have to say that up to now, all my deliveries have been straight forward but this seems so slow & disjointed.

Kaggi9 · 08/09/2025 13:14

I didn’t get anything for ages then suddenly an email saying it’s arriving tomorrow (last Saturday). I find that Royal Mail aren’t particularly good. I gave clear instructions about what to do with it as I knew I wouldn’t be there, but they were unable to follow them!

DearRaven · 08/09/2025 14:33

Weigh day, first post-shemed. It was strange not checking in, though nice to not have to hang around waiting to connect or listen to the script.

0.6kg off, total now 17.7kg. Was able to log this in the app so all my weigh-ins are still together & showing on the graph. Should probably look at transferring all the info to another app, though I use a food journal & log weight in there too.

Hope everyone gets their missing meds 🤞🤞

Bear2014 · 08/09/2025 14:43

Good point re downloading all the info from Shemed, although I did wonder if this would just remain on the app and stay dormant. I've downloaded my last prescription from them (my penultimate prescription overall) and screen grabbed my weight graph just in case.

I also have no idea what my goal is or even was. I am the same weight now as I was in my early 20s, have lost 22kg which I never thought could be at all possible. I didn't even bother having a target as I have not managed more than 10kg by any other means, and each diet became more arduous than the last. I am a size 14, BMI 27 and would probably be happy to just stay like this. I'm more concerned about maintenance and still think I may stay on a low dose of something long term to stop it from creeping again.

Does anyone else really struggle with people telling them they have lost weight and look really good? Weirdly I low-key hate it as it makes me feel embarrassed that I maybe didn't look good for years before and I only partly acknowledged that to myself, and I didn't have the power to do anything significant about it. I also have told no one about the jabs and don't really know what to say, although no one has asked. (My MIL made an ignorant comment about as long as you're not on that ozempic or whatever it is, but she's a Daily Fail reader and I let most of what she says wash over me).

kittykarate · 08/09/2025 15:46

I'm an out and proud jabber - so when someone comments on my weight I go tend to say "Thanks" and "It wasn't easy, but easier than it could have been".

I found once I told the first person, it got progressively easier. If get a negative reaction I just think that it sucks to be them.

kittykarate · 08/09/2025 15:48

And if they really persist on it, I try and explain the "Carrot and stick" effects of Mounjaro - it gives you the "carrot" by quietening down hunger and food noise. It has a "stick" in that if you eat too much, drink too much, eat too much of the wrong foods it absolutely beats me up with night sweats, nausea and feeling sick.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 09/09/2025 09:50

@OneAzureMaker Yay for size 16!!! And for "overweight" to be in sight. That's so exciting. I hope things have all settled in your new house and job now ❤️.

@Reginaphalangeeeee Wahooooo under 35!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉. That's very exciting! I'm at 36 so not far off but im enjoying seeing it gradually move along the NHS page (and I remember the excitement at being On The Page!) when I do the calculator!

Wrt weight loss - I drive to see a friend at the weekend and saw her husband who I'd not seen in months. When I left he said "you look really well Fatsia, really well" with a fatherly smile. Bless him. Its hard when they don't know what to say and I really appreciated the sentiment! It still messes with my head though - as when putting on the weight when I first got to 16stone people were concerned!

@JBJ wow I'm impressed at your over 3lb loss! And Wahooooo for over 5stone gone 🎉🎉🎉.

SheMed are all over the place. I guess they couldn't have predicted World events... But it does seem to have thrown their whole system. Hope everyone waiting orders gets their pens soon.

@DearRaven I found it odd not checking in - after so long of doing it it does feel odd. And a relief not to! I downloaded all my prescriptions and screen shorted all the weight check ins. And downloaded the blood tests too and screen shotted the summaries. I use shotsy and renpho as my personal record as I preffered to weigh naked. But I also like the apps!

@Bear2014 Yes it's a weird one isn't it. I really don't want to feel shame at how bad if got but I'm so aware it affected so much and how people perceived me. It's really weird isn't it - entering "acceptable society" again is exciting... But also sad that we were jusdged in the first place....

I've not really engaged in much discussion with most people. I'd they sat I've losr weight I've said "yes!" or "it's getting there".

A couple of close friends/colleagues know if they've directly asked. But in general I don't think I have enough close friends to have had the conversation with. And people I sort of see I tend to brush it off!

I guess for our group we will all be around a year in January! We need to celebrate 😁

Great idea on screenshot ring the verified weights, possibly needed in the future when switching suppliers!
Congratulations on moving down the BMI charts everyone 🙌
Yay to not having to check in, it wasn't a big deal but was starting to hangover and be annoying. Even though it was probably less than 5 minutes it had become a chore recently.

JBJ · 09/09/2025 13:12

Well my 10mg pen from SheMed has just arrived! Never got any tracking info, but at least it’s here. Along with 100 needles, 100 wipes and a new sharps bin that I didn’t ask for (did for about the first 6 months, then gave up and bought one off Amazon!).

Just checked my BMI and I’m also now just below 35 - 34.9 to be precise - which is brilliant.

kittykarate · 09/09/2025 13:33

Last Mounjaro jab jabbed - and my Wegovy has arrived. So I'd say they are running maybe 2 days late for me compared to previous orders. I had a big loss for me this week - 1.1 kg so I'm now officially 68.9kg! Blimey, hard to believe.
