Shemed January Starters - Thread 4

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/08/2025 18:38

Hello everyone! I completely missed the other thread was full (haven't been too well this week) so I've started this one and will tag as many people as I can think of from recent pages. Do tag anyone else you think of that might miss the new thread!

I hope everyone is okay. It's been unsettling times hasn't it with all the news about the price increases and very little from Shemed as to what they are planning. I am hopeful that of all people we will be shielded the most due to being on the Study (fingers crossed).

I weighed in this morning and took second dose of the 10mg. I seemed to put on this morning but if I take the weight I've been most of this week...

I am exactly half way to my target! And I've lost 25% of my bodyweight!

10mg - so far no burps or nausea but I am wondering if this extreme tiredness is in part due to the drug. Was eating just as I was before the last couple of days but today don't want to eat so who knows!

I'll read up and tag people if I can.

Hi everyone . I must be the only one who can’t understand the changes , I had an email to say I have to switch to wegivy to keep my £99 price . Then I was prescribed Mounjaro unexpectedly (and asked if I want to go up to 15mg which I agreed with ) . They took £99 and I thought oh great so this must be because of the news that the increases may not be as bad as expected .
Today had an email saying it’s either pay the massive prices or switch to wegivy but then it will still go to £159.
something missing there - have I missed an update ? Sorry I am sure eveyone else has got this sorted from the discussion above but I have had a hectic week and feel so confused !

Mazd323 · 09/09/2025 21:22

Surely tonight’s email has been sent in error to those on the original £99 programme? I hope so anyway 😳

Mortigua · 09/09/2025 21:27

Me too! I am panicking reading back though that maybe I’ve missed a deadline to let them know ? But I think mine last week said something like if I switched to wegiovy no further action needed . Then the surprise prescription of Mounjaro

Reginaphalangeeeee · 09/09/2025 22:43

Just seen the SheMed email and I am also confused!
Did everyone get the same one about fair pricing and no surprises… except I think it is everything but fair and real surprises!!!

My replacement pen (from the lost one in post) was delivered today.
@JBLmaybe they sent you my needles and requested sharps box as they sent mine with nothing!!!

I got sent tracking info yesterday which couldn’t be tracked and then only got an email once delivered 🙄

All in all, SheMed can be renamed s**tmed right now.
i have emailed them (they don’t know I used golden dose nor got another supply from Numan)..
I asked so it’s now over a 10days late, no tracking and no needles, wipes or sharps box. I don’t think I can trust their delivery option and can not afford their prices.

So what options are there now? If anyone can explain this latest email to me? Are other suppliers sending out weird emails?
@fatsiahave you officially left them? Was it ok?

Thinking I should download or screen shot everything!

Yeah that email isn’t very clear. I reckon they’ve just sent a blanket mailing out to everyone, regardless of which plan you’re on. They’re bloody useless with admin, really poor.

Do you have needles/wipes etc? Happy to pop you some of my hundred in the post as I’ll never nee all them!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 10/09/2025 06:52

@JBJ Phew I'm glad you've got it! And you're under bmi 35 🎉🎈🎊🎉. That's fantastic news!

@Reginaphalangeeeee Glad it arrived but yes all good points. I think it only gets looked at by a call centre person who won't properly answer any points. Did it arrive cold? I'd still use it and assume it was their delays at the moment but they are not doing themselves any favours at the moment.

@kittykarate Wow fantastic way to finish mounjaro with a big loss! I hope all goes well with Wegovy :) And phew you have it. You've done amazing 😊.

That email is barking. It does look like a blanket email that doesn't apply to the £99 deal.

Their communications over all this has been shocking. Their main income is mounjaro/wegovy (possibly only?) they really should be able to get this right. They really haven't been able to deal well with any customer issues or problems all along and then this hits and their words don't match their actions...

It very definitely was for those staying on the deal - wegovy at £99 for the rest of the deal or move to overpriced mounjaro.

They seem to have added a third tier to the mounjaro pricing to make the lower 2 doses cheaper - but they're still not competitive. They clearly want people on wegovy now.

I've emailed to say I'm not filling out my refill questionaire (had no reply). When I rang SheMed they have an automated "press 2 if you're thinking of leaving the adherence plan" type option somewhere and they just tell you not to do the refill questionaire so you leave the option of rejoining. I haven't literally clicked "cancel membership" just in case soemthing changes but I'm not doing a refill questionaire with them (so won't get charged) . I got reminded twice and now nothing.

I think I'd have stayed for the £99 wegovy if I was close to maintenance or happier to move to wegovy though.

I've got myself in the cycle as last week where to deal with sulphur burps (I have students every day M-F in term time - in summer I didn't really worry too much) I take Pepto Bismol as only thing that works... And then for a few days I'm bunged up and unable to "go". I take magnesium at night but don't want to take anything else to help as can't risk the other extreme at work! Ah fun times. Going up to 10 hasn't really been difficult it's just consciously dealing with things rather than it just pooling away in the background.

Apologies all - I've been lurking on this thread as I was interested in the SheMed model even though I'm not with them. Seeing how this has all collapsed so quickly and left people confused and unhappy, I did some more digging into the company. Did you know that the people behind SheMed are two twenty something digital entrepreneurs with no clinical experience? I think one is a nutritionist / has an interest in nutrition. As you have discovered, they actually buy the MJ in from other pharmacists, so have no control over pricing. I'm starting to wonder if SheMed customers might even have a case with Trading Standards, as their whole positioning feels extremely dubious. It feels very much like you were promised one thing in terms of clinical expertise and support and very much ended up with something else.

Mortigua · 10/09/2025 08:13

They forgot my needles too this time !
I’ve not been impressed generally . Mistakes made several times on logging my weight and just not much clear communication. I thought I was getting a good deal because I was helping a study . Didn’t know all that Puppylucky

tinyemmy · 10/09/2025 08:22

I also got the random email. I keep getting you've forgotten to check in emails which is really annoying so I wish I had been able to just cancel. I wonder when the emails will stop.
Get a Drip has been handed over to DPD, I hope the box is discreet as I'm not at home today or tomorrow so will be intercepted by the nanny who doesn't know I'm on them

OneAzureMaker · 10/09/2025 08:47

I sent a message them last Friday to say I wouldn't be continuing, no reply, and yes I got the email yesterday.

I do believe they are in breach of contract. I know that they could not have predicted the price rise, but the contract was £99 per month, whatever dose for 12 months providing you adhered to their check ins and blood tests.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 10/09/2025 08:50

Thanks all. Really appreciate the support here.

Thanks @JBJnuman sent me needles and wipes so I am ok thank you. No one has used my posted referral Numan code so not sure if I will get the next one off them at £269. I can pause that option.
Besides I have current Numan and next SheMed pen so that 9 weeks to make a plan.

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGardenyes the pen arrived cold (husband said it was in wool with ice pack & felt cool) so hoping ok to use delayed.

Anyone wasn’t a Numan code to get £100 off for first pen Wegovy or MJ. That’s £169 for 10mg. PM me… though it does not show on my phone app, so let me know to log on computer to check.

I have been feeling quite low and overwhelmed since returning from holiday. I know this is normal post holiday blues but think MJ possibly lowers me a bit more. It feels tough to get going again and I already feel like hibernating.
This SheMed nonsense not helping.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 10/09/2025 11:24

Looks like Sh*tMed got lots of questions and sent another email to clarify for adherence study members.

DearRaven · 10/09/2025 11:53

For info, Get a Drip sent my pen in a parcel rather than box, it looked & felt like a clothing parcel so you should be ok @tinyemmy

@Mortigua @Reginaphalangeeeee I’m another who didn’t receive needles or wipes! I had to buy them so as not to miss a dose, then finally received some from shemed after waiting two weeks 🙄

I didn’t get either of the Shemed emails & don’t receive any check in reminders, but think it’s because I have officially cancelled. They took 8 days to action my email request to cancel for those wondering.

KoalaKoKo · 10/09/2025 12:04

Hi I have loads of needles and wipes too if anyone needs any posted message me!

Has anyone made the switch to wegovy yet? I’m just starting my last Mountjaro pen with SheMed and trying to decide what to do. I am leaning towards leaving them as I’ve had to fight for every dose increase and I don’t want to be starting at the bottom again and only hitting my proper dose when I will have to pay the higher rate anyway. I am leaning towards getting Mountjaro from elsewhere and switching go Wegovy in a few months when closer to my goal (at 13.5 stone and lose max half a stone a month, some months less). Do message me any Mountjaro discount codes you have!

kittykarate · 10/09/2025 12:28

It looks like Shemed are fulfilling the Wegovy from a a different pharmacy - previously all my stuff came from Signature, this time it's packaged in a wool bag rather than a foil bag.

Which is good, because I guess I could recycle the wool into something useful (stuffing for cushions?), but bad as all my foil bags were being used by my mam for her adventures on vinted.

Wegovy is also packaged slightly differently - the needles are in a box inside the pen box. I guess I'll have to read the instructions to check how this one is jabbed when I start next week.

Yep, made the switch to Wegovy last week. I went over to a comparable dose, so 1mg over from 10mg MJ.

Happy to report no side-effects apart from feeling a bit tired a few days post-injection. Suppression is high, I would say not quite as high as with Mounjaro BUT absolutely no nausea which was par for the course with MJ for me so I'm actually quite happy about that! The nausea was the worst and used to have me dreading injecting knowing I was gonna feel nasty almost immediately afterwards - to the point where I've developed a bit of a pavlovian aversion to the sight of an injection pen, literally just looking at it makes me want to heave 😬

If anyone is wary of switching over, from my experience it's been ok 👍🏻

Reginaphalangeeeee · 10/09/2025 14:15

What do you mean @tinyemmy
people stealing needles or the pens?

Reginaphalangeeeee · 10/09/2025 14:15

People stealing pens! Particularly with them being so expensive, I'm sure stealing is rife! So disguising them would be sensible for many reasons!

UninitendedShark · 10/09/2025 14:40

Hi all. I’ve also had the email about pricing from SheMed and had a WTF? moment about the cost of wegovy suddenly going up to £149. Am I crazy or did they say that they were honouring £99 for it? The price hike on MJ is not feasible for me and I am happy to switch to wegovy. My BMI is now 24.6 so not sure I’d qualify anywhere else. Does anyone have any advice?

I’ve got 2 doses of MJ left and really I think I should have gone up from 10mg to the next one so a bit annoyed my last pen feels a bit like maintenance doses. So not super happy with SheMed, although admittedly a lot of these issues are not in their control.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 10/09/2025 15:13

@Puppylucky That's just marketing. It's part of EMed (I think I read the girls are related to one of the directors. They've had nothing to do with anything pretty much.

The videos/clinical stuff is from the GP who owns GP at hand (linked with babylon and EMed...) Matthew Noble. He's interested in AI medicine so iim also guessing we're a dataset...

The study is real as in its registered - but I always suspected it was to gain evidence for their own marketing for the following year or to promote to the NHS to get a contract (SheMed we're ahead of the game in asking for verified weight etc).

It certainly wouldn't do well peer reviewed in terms of a valid study. But could have been used as marketting to sya their study showed that X% of people on their programme saw an improvement in cholesterol for example.

TBH although this recent palaver has been a shitshow and shows how fragile their infrastructure is... I don't regret it as I ended up with 9 pens at £99 so saved money compared to other providers and didn't ever have to do the MLM codesharing thing.

((((( @Reginaphalangeeeee )))))). I'm funny post holidays when reality hits too but I think you had a double whammy with all this hitting. One of the positives about SheMed was not having to worry about looking at providers or changing pharmacies etc. Hopefully once we're all settled in whichever direction we go it will feel calmer.

@BruhWhy That is a result! So pleased for you!!

@UninitendedShark Ive had another email today from them. It loos like they sent a blanket email to everyone when they did mean to leave those of us on the £99 able to buy wegovy for £99 for the rest of our year so they have clarified that....

Its a lot of mistakes they are making though.

Thanks @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden

yes I had a 9 month email from SheMed too.
despite my current annoyance and disappointment with them… it does not undo or undermine how grateful I am for the last 9 month.
At a cost of £999 I am within a lbs of 5 stone loss. This has been life changing, stable and consistent. There have been 2 occasions I think I was delayed from increasing dose but a prolonged stall hasn’t done any harm, just frustrating but maybe my skin is grateful for the slowing down period.

I am very grateful no code hunting was needed until now as it adds a different dimension of worry. I have calculated £50 a week is probably my max to spend on MJ, so I’m sorted for 9 weeks and have time to hunt and I’ll go as long as I can.

Grateful for all recommendations of companies here. Realistically would like to stay same provider each month but cost will not allow right now.
