Shemed January Starters - Thread 4

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/08/2025 18:38

Hello everyone! I completely missed the other thread was full (haven't been too well this week) so I've started this one and will tag as many people as I can think of from recent pages. Do tag anyone else you think of that might miss the new thread!

I hope everyone is okay. It's been unsettling times hasn't it with all the news about the price increases and very little from Shemed as to what they are planning. I am hopeful that of all people we will be shielded the most due to being on the Study (fingers crossed).

I weighed in this morning and took second dose of the 10mg. I seemed to put on this morning but if I take the weight I've been most of this week...

I am exactly half way to my target! And I've lost 25% of my bodyweight!

10mg - so far no burps or nausea but I am wondering if this extreme tiredness is in part due to the drug. Was eating just as I was before the last couple of days but today don't want to eat so who knows!

I'll read up and tag people if I can.

I wonder if there’s an option to do one extra month on MJ at the higher price, then switch to wegovy, or if it’s a stick or twist permanently thing? Just thinking that I’m at a festival at just around the time I’d be switching and I’d rather not risk side effects from a new med whilst in a field with manky portaloos! I might email and ask.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/08/2025 19:33

@tinyemmy Thankyou for tagging me! Yay for the appointment - hope it goes well. Mine was in 2 parts but I think some places do it in one. I think it varies how long before titration - mine was about a month but some places are longer. I suspect with you being on a low dose for MJ that ADHD meds would likely curb the binge eating and be enough to maintain - but it all seems trial and error and people respond differently etc. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

@Reginaphalangeeeee Arg!!! They've delivered to someone else's house?? I'd contact Signature if it is through them as they sorted out when RM messed up my delivery. Although also seen your post was yesterday so it may be sorted now?

@DearRaven - Yay for third 10mg pen and yes I'm really hoping the silence is because they're taking the time for a new plan. It does seem that although quick to publicly state prices, the off the shelf pharmacies have just gone for a figure and allowed stockpiling when they are guessing where it will end up maybe?

@KoalaKoKo that's rubbish! I've had some really useless back and forth with Shemed emails this last couple of weeks - its outsourced so they're basically customer services for hire in other countries rather than actually being able to action anything. I had better luck going back to Signature when I had a warm pen that arrived late and they sorted it .

@OneAzureMaker Wow 3kg woosh!! That's amazing - and below 100kg - that's fantastic! Where my weight has been a bit static/all over the place I've started to believe 100 is a mythical place in the future I'll never quite reach! Well done! And @Reginaphalangeeeee We will get there :) It sounds like 10mg has kick started it all into action again with a fab loss!! And huge celebration being under 35bmi! I'm a similar weight but 37bmi - I think I'm shorter! I've wondered about Golden Doses too - but also aware we'd have to track which pen box to show them at check in that they think we're using etc.

@Dobbysdad So glad they approved you - I'd seen they were saying to some they couldnt go up due to shortages.
@Bear2014 Oh no - can't believe they didn't put you up if you've been on it since January!! I do wonder at their decision making sometimes...
@Mazd323 did you get to go up?

@kittykarate Wow - weight loss after a holiday. That's a result!!
@Bananaramram Did yours arrive?
@JBJ - sounds like a fab break :) I too am worried about long term as had assumed I would be on it long term...

I was really surprised that some people have been told they can't go up due to stock. I thought that our pharmacy in not allowing people to buy multiple pens would have enough stock for their actual members...

@OneAzureMaker Strength Training wise - I have been using rebelfit online. You join a group and can have personal feedback if you upload videos so it is a nice group. Theres a starter group and then another group I'm nowhere near in yet once people have all the correct from for those quite seriously into fitness. Its meant I've done something 2 days out of 3 and am more confident with weights and with squats. I'm a beginner though and have ended up paying as I wont stick to anything myself...

@Earthgirl3971 - Just tagging you too - and your front room sounds beautiful. I had a plan to redecorate the house (well tell husband what colours) and do some work in teh garden but I've been having to catch up with so many other things I've hardly stopped and I'm mostly on summer break from my teaching job - I've only got a week left now eeek!!! I've got testers though ready for the weekend.

And tagging - @meatyryvita @Mortigua @HappySonHappyMum @Kaggi9 @bluesmartie83

Be lovely to hear how everyone is getting on!

Wow, the results are in and we are f*cked.

If you want to stay on mounjaro it's a small mortgage payment please. Or you can switch to Wegovy.

What is this b8llshit? We should also get chance to exit if neither of these options suit.

Looks like they haven't thought about an exit plan for those that may just want out 😕.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 27/08/2025 14:09

I will absolutely be exiting I think. (I don't think they will chase us if we just don't renew on the 3rd week and tell them why tbh)

I am absolutely in shock.

@JBJ - exactly the same position. I'm halfway through and terrified now.

I know others not on SheMed were stocking up and I naiively assumed we wouldn't need to and could defer worrying until December. I've looked and nowhere has 10mg available now.

I have 3 weeks left so maybe I can try and find a cheaper provider in a few weeks maybe.

I feel sick. My husband went white when I told him - he doesn't want to say we can't afford it as he's see how life changing its been for me. But we cant.

I can walk now.

I am devastated and don't know how we will manage.

I don't want to move to wegovy at this stage as only half way through and I think it might be the other drug in the MJ that means I can walk. And with so long to go I don't want to lose a few months weight loss. And I don't want to adjust to a new drug. I purposely went up to 10mg before term started so I wouldn't have to.
I feel so low.

Yes I feel the same. My health and mobility have improved so much and I’m terrified of it all going to shit now. It’s just so bloody unfair! I’m absolutely furious about the whole thing. They’re messing with peoples quality of life for the sake of profits (by “they” I appreciate it’s not SheMed’s fault). It’s just pure greed from a bunch of people who’ve probably never had to worry about watching the pennies in their lives.

kittykarate · 27/08/2025 14:54

I'm really upset by it all now. I was wishing on a star that I could stay on Mounjaro, but I honestly cannot at the new pricing that is out there with SheMed. I was hoping SheMed could have negotiated something better (or had a locked in price with Eli Lilly) for the duration of the study.

I will give Wegovy a go - if it doesn't suit, well, then they'll have to let me out of the programme and then I'll try and get another provider to take me on.

Earthgirl3971 · 27/08/2025 15:03

From reading what look to be amended T&C's .. on the Adherence programme (£99 study) please see my screenshot also to read.

There's is something else planned after 1st October 2025 and a modification of the subscription fee from £99.

Makes me think they are preparing and have adjusted these terms so that they are protected when they later hike prices further (in response to all other suppliers doing the same across all meds I should think due to supply and demand going boom / bust! ) 😫

Hmm make no rash decisions.

I have a 10mg pen being delivered today/now so I'm just going to take this one and see where I'm at afterwards and not move onto Wegovy. This pen will take me up to first week in October so I'll make my decision then as to if I agree with the changes of the higher subscription charges or if I'd like to cancel. Looks like there will be an option to cancel then, and they will waive any fees associated.

Is everyone else seeing the same perspective of myself? When reading this.

I read that as them covering themselves for this round of price variation - so they say "We won't change the price (if you go Wegovy), but if you choose to stay on mounjaro you are going to have to pay extra charges, which are based on your dosage as agreed between you and your clinician"

Who knows what October will bring.

Batgin · 27/08/2025 15:34

Gutted - I've only just started with SheMed, I too thought the price would be relatively safe as when I joined it was being advertised as £139 and 'no monthly price change shocks'

I'm scared to try Wegovy - I've already lost 3kg in 2 weeks. It seems it'll be cheaper to source the pens independently now?

kittykarate · 27/08/2025 16:03

Unless you really enjoy the structure of SheMed there isn't really any reason to stay with them as a person who isn't tied into the Adherence program. SheMed are not wildly overpriced compared to the other 'full service/big name brand' type suppliers, but they are not on the bargain end of the scale.

There is a website with comparison of prices https://monj.co.uk but I think things are still far too fluid to judge who will be best. If you are thinking of moving to another supplier, do a bit of research into them on Reddit or elsewhere in the forum to work out if they are going to be reliable for you. The last month has definitely exposed some cracks in the system, where some pharmacies have over sold what they had on hand, so have not been delivering or cancelling orders. They have been letting people order multiple pens. There is no co-ordination between the pharmacies so you could be registering and buying one pen from each...

Hey ladies!! I’ve found you!! 🕵️‍♀️👀…what a day! 😱. I filled out my questionnaire on Saturday, heard nothing yet & no payment taken. I hope it will honoured under the old system.
Moving forward I’m priced out of mj, I’ve another stone & a half to loose so I’ll also give Wegovy a go.

OneAzureMaker · 27/08/2025 17:05

I think it will be trying wegovy for me. There is no way I can afford Mounjaro, not a hope, but I'm still willing to try and if wegovy is really the only option available, then that will have to be it.

tinyemmy · 27/08/2025 17:48

I didn't think they would be able to do this. I am not paying their prices and I don't want wegovy and if I did not for £99 I'm currently on 5mg but take less than this which would mean I would be ok the lowest doses of wegovy if I switch. I'm also worried like you @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden that it's the GIP element that makes me feel so good. I don't know what to do. Cancelling (if I even can!! They didn't give that as an option) SheMed and then my options are mounjaro with someone, wegovy with someone or try it alone. I worry if I go it alone that if I struggle I won't be able to get back on it...

Same! I filled out mine yesterday and it has been radio silence, no payment taken! I am crossing my fingers that they will give one last pen but I suspect they’ll contact about wegovy!

bluesmartie83 · 27/08/2025 17:59

I’m hoping that because my payment was taken for my next pen yesterday (although I filled in my questionnaire Friday morning!) I will be prescribed my usual prescription? I’m not opposed to giving Wegovy a try but would like the option to cancel should it not be for me like anyone else who had the option to move due to side effects or cancel? I’m annoyed and feel that they have been unfair to the individuals who have been held to strict rules with no ability to influence their prescriptions due to the ‘study’ - seems they can pick what aspects they follow to suit themselves (or their pockets?).

JBJ · 27/08/2025 18:18

I’ve emailed asking a) is there an option for one more month of Mounjaro at the higher price, then move to Wegovy, so as I’m not changing meds just before I’m camping, and b) is there an option to cancel if Wegovy doesn’t work for me. Awaiting a response!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 27/08/2025 18:28

I think someone online shared the screen shot from today of someone doing their questionnaire and cancelling was an option. I don't think they're going to quibble with anyone cancelling tbh.

My fear with Wegovy is firstly if it was the GIP that fixed me (but I guess it could be the GLP1 so it might work) , secondly side effects - I really can't be off work Sept/Oct, and thirdly if it doesn't work out it will take 4 months to titrate back up to 10mg so will be 5 months wasted. Where I've still got 5.5 stone to go it seems so scary.

I do thankfully have 3 doses left so may end up buying one more pen (oh i so wish id used the golden dose all the way through now ) and use extra does in this one and that one and then see if there are other cheaper suppliers. Noone is supplying mounjaro currently until after Sept 1st and I am secretly holding out hope that some of the big pharmacies have negotiated better terms with Eli Lily.

If I do go to wegovy practically that needs to be in a few months time I think . I wasn't adverse to trying wegovy for maintenance but thats a long way away for me.

We have a tiny amount of reserves and I think I will have to pay for a month or two (and not do anything with the children...hope nothing breaks) and then see what I can do.

Its starting to look like trying luck with wegovy isnt it. I so thought we had until January to think about this and could see when the dust settled what long term prices would be for both drugs.

Kaggi9 · 27/08/2025 18:37

How long do the pens last for once the first 4 doses have been used? Is it officially 4 weeks or until the expiry date on them?

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 27/08/2025 19:34

I think its 30 days officially - so you can get 5 doses as that's 28 days - but I also read online they're going to be selling the pens without the "extra" dose some people were using.

I'd wondered about every 10 days maybe in time. I really wasn't ready to think about this just yet!!

I think I'll do another month or two and see what the other companies are offering as it all seems up in the air.

OP posts:
Mummymelmoo · 27/08/2025 20:26

I have cancelled today after receiving the email. It wasn’t a problem. I called and they did it over the phone. I received a confirmation email in minutes.
I have lost 28kg and now have a bmi of 22 so not sure if I’ll be able to switch providers easily. I only went up to 5mg with shemed and have continued on that so it really made no sense for me to pay £279 to shemed for 5mg or 2.5mg depending on what maintenance is going to look like for me. I didn’t want to switch to wegovy.
Hopefully I will be able to buy from another provider to figure out my maintenance. I think the lower doses are more easily available.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 27/08/2025 21:25

Greetings all from holiday.
well what a shit email to get day 1!!
I am so so cross, and sad, and scared and cross so more.
I feel that although all on this drug have been blindsided overnight by the price hike, SheMed was slow to communicate. They held us by terms of agreement and fear of not staying on ‘adherence’ that I didn’t look to explore purchase/stock like all others have had opportunity to.

my last pen which I paid for has been delivered to the wrong house and so am on holiday without next dose (officially), but I bloody plan to use golden dose!!!

I never wanted to go on Wegovy & have travelled so far with MJ it’s so unfair to stop me now! But realistically it’s just so much money!
is £99 for wegovy even a Good deal???
I bet people who have stock piles are laughing now 😤 after being told not to, well it was worth it eh!

Oh I just don’t know what to do. 5 months (with 4 stone more weight loss) feels it has been snatched from me.

Is there a point when Eli licence/patenr makes it possible for other companies to manufacture?

I am so sorry for all of you in this same situation. Shemed company has lost its credibility and reputation overnight. Feel like protest abandoning them but not actually sure that is sensible either. 😢😢😢😢

YouWillFindMeUnderCats · 27/08/2025 22:21

Good evening everyone, what a mess!

I, naively, thought SheMed would honour their contract with us. Leaving their update so late is pretty rubbish. I cannot afford the Mounjaro prices - like many others I am already at 10mg. So I guess I will have to give Wegovy a try. I’m worried, I haven’t had too many side-effects on MJ and I was really benefiting from the reduction in joint pain. I haven’t lost as much as many of you… currently at 3.5 stones but the pounds have been consistently dropping, including a 2lb loss whilst on holiday!

I actually completed my questionnaire on Sunday (so only have one more dose in my current pen) and they are still reviewing my prescription. I guess my MJ journey ends this week.

As a secret jabber I also haven’t been able to discuss this with anyone. I am just so disappointed. The appeal of SheMed was that I knew how much I was paying for each pen for a year. I knew I would need longer than that to lose the weight I want to lose, (9-10 stone) but I would be well on my way by the time the trial ended. I had thought there might be another offer like the set price a month that would keep things affordable.

Hang on in there everyone. You’ve all done so well. I find your updates so inspiring.

YouWillFindMeUnderCats · 27/08/2025 22:35

Also, the app updated today and I have noticed that on my profile it now says that I am on the SheMed weight loss programme. I think that is a change? The email from them today called it the Study Programme. Have they brought the study to an end?

Mazd323 · 27/08/2025 23:23

I’ve not had the email explaining the options. Anybody else not received it yet?

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 28/08/2025 10:42

@Mazd323 Have you seen it ? Do you want me to upload it? I wonder why some were missed...

@Reginaphalangeeeee I really hope you get your pen! And that you have a wonderful holiday and leave worrying about this til you get back xx
