Shemed January Starters - Thread 4

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/08/2025 18:38

Hello everyone! I completely missed the other thread was full (haven't been too well this week) so I've started this one and will tag as many people as I can think of from recent pages. Do tag anyone else you think of that might miss the new thread!

I hope everyone is okay. It's been unsettling times hasn't it with all the news about the price increases and very little from Shemed as to what they are planning. I am hopeful that of all people we will be shielded the most due to being on the Study (fingers crossed).

I weighed in this morning and took second dose of the 10mg. I seemed to put on this morning but if I take the weight I've been most of this week...

I am exactly half way to my target! And I've lost 25% of my bodyweight!

10mg - so far no burps or nausea but I am wondering if this extreme tiredness is in part due to the drug. Was eating just as I was before the last couple of days but today don't want to eat so who knows!

I'll read up and tag people if I can.

Great to hear experiences of ordering from other companies. Thank you for sharing. Assume these were September prices? Has stock returned?

Yes September but with significant discounts. No stock at Right angled last I checked, I think they might be cheapest for a subscription but will check again when the dust settles.

@bluesmartie83 Yay for looking after yourself. I read something about "putting yourself at the centre of your life" earlier this year which really resonated with me. I tried to explain to to my, husband on a walk and he thought it just sounded selfish so I didn't explain it right but it was more than empowering realisation that noone else is going to centre you as much as you can and in my case chasing after everyone else I'd lost "me". Being on MJ and having this time where weight is no longer a losing battle has really unlocked that as concept for me I think.

@Reginaphalangeeeee Hooe you've had a lovely time and have the shemed pen (yay for the golden dose....)

@DearRaven amd {mention:OneAzureMaker}@OneAzureMaker and @tinyemmy Yay for explorations into other providers. We can do this!

@TaliaTalia Fantastic to have you! And yay for smooth sailing. I am still amazed when I look back and see how far I've come since January. I'm going to stick with MJ for a bit but watch how people get on with wegovy. I think if I was closer to my goal I would try the switch as it's so much cheaper! Do stick around and tell us how you're getting on!

I've decided to stay on Mounjaro so been looking at prices for 10mg and narrowed it down to 2 (with pharmulous as runner up!)

Medino is £234 for 10mg - free next day delivery but you cna get a 10% starting code (I'll share) and then they give you 8% returning discount if you order routinely with them so I think they may be who I go with.

Alternatively I enquired with Crest (happens to be my local pharmacy but small chain and the person I spoke to was Ina different branch) and they are £261 for 10mg. But instead of purely online like medino they have a WhatsApp button on their page - and I got both an answer and an actual call from a pharmacist. I was amazed. She was so very helpful. They check in by phone if you want it every month and she talked to me about being on elvanse and mounjaro, asked what I was eating, side effects and made some recommendations etc... Genuinely in awe. They do next day delivery but you need to be in/to work/to one of their pharmacies but that does prevent it being left in garden or with a neighbour.

Im close to going with them for actual service. Oh then I messaged asking if they're happy to prescribe "5 weekly" and to maintain at normal bmi and got a reply within a couple of hours from that pharmacist. She's their weight loss specialist and I was very very impressed.

So another recommendation to throw into the mix. I was thinking 261/5 is still better than 279/4 with Shemed.. But it's all crazy money isn't it 😳.

Oh and longnoist but in good news!! I weighed this morning and realised I hadn't quite realised the conversion as I weigh in KG. I am 102.2 which is 16st 1! I mentally thought I was 16st4/16st 5

I'm so close to being under a new stone, then 15st10 is 100kg and then 15st6 would be bmi 35!!! It's working. I can't stop now.

My woosh and then being on 10 seems to have kickstarted things again.

You have done so well @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden great news about the local pharmacist, I'd be tempted too.
What things did they suggest with Elvanse. I'm really hoping to get on this, initial appointment is 2 October so still a while to wait.
I'm currently using my pen for about ten weeks which is probably too long. I'm happy to pay a monthly prescription though if it's not too expensive. I think I should be able to get it for £150, so 50% more than I was paying, but it's a small price to pay to be healthy and happy and I just don't want to risk coming off it yet. I will re-evaluate in the future. Maybe once I've maintained for a year, or two! I gave up alcohol 2.5 years ago, initially it was a struggle but now it is a way of life so I'm hoping eating becomes the same and I get used to eating this way and then maybe I will slowly titrate down, but based on my alcohol journey I need probably a year and a half of this being the new normal before it becomes normal.
It's annoying but hopefully it will workout all right in the end.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 03/09/2025 08:52

Crest is the small chain pharmacy I'm looking at and you don't need to be local as it's phone and delivery (but they'd deliver to my local pharmacy which makes it tempting!) but it depends if someone wants the extra advice. They actually are doing all the things I'd hoped Shemed would do when I started so would definitely recommend them to anyone starting out now. They're 160 for 2.5mg and 185 for 5mg so not the cheapest and I'm not sure how much beyond 5weeks theyd go so may not be right for you but I feel like telling everyone on shemed about them as they seem to do what shemed meant to do but better!

For me I've not been eating much at lunch (elvanse kills my appetite for lunch) but good overall and I already knew to eat protein before I took elvanse - but she was encouraging protein at lunch and talking about how the drug worked. I genuinely am close to paying just for the monthly check ins with her that I didn't think I wanted 🙈!

And hugely well done with the alcohol. I have a family member who struggles in that area so have been in that world a bit and it's hard. If you can crack that you can crack anything! Well - you've cracked alcohol, lost the weight... You are on fire!

Finally been prescribed the Numan pen, and it's a 10mg so I should be able to make it last 6 weeks, doing some kind of interim dosage. It's a relief having some breathing space and I will respectfully be telling She Med to shove it at the end of the month 😉 Get a Drip etc also looks interesting and makes me feel hopeful about general affordability and maintenance going forward.

The alcohol thing is really interesting with Mounjaro. I've never particularly had a drinking problem but I've always loved a drink. I have done a few dry months in the past (outside of pregnancy) but have always really looked forward to a Friday wine etc. The MJ has dulled the craving so much, the same as it has with snacking. I still drink and have a couple occasionally, and enjoy the taste and the buzz, but I don't spend any time thinking about it or feel like I am craving it. So I can definitely see it being a viable treatment for alcoholism.

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden you are doing so so well!!!
I can’t wait to get that close to 100kg too!

So a week all inclusive on a sunny holiday. I eat 3 meals a day ((normally eat just 2), I had a small dessert or two every day, I drank cocktails every day (having been T total since January) and the damage report is in… 106.7KG.
Thats nearly 2Kg gain & all things considered I do not think is too bad. I think less salt and normal eating and hopefully in the next 1-2 weeks it will go.

SheMed have issued a repeat questionnaire for refill for me and say they have credited my account so no charge for this replacement pen.

Numan have asked for proof of my current dose/pen.
I am worried sending it may trigger something with SheMed and prevent them sending me the pen I am owed?

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I really like the sound of your pharmacist and decided I am not staying with SheMed after this pen. Why should I? If there are cheaper deals elsewhere I will shop around each month, a month in advance.

Anyone else taking this approach or are you looking for subscription service?

I think I may have to go subscription for maintenance, my pharmacy choices are limited (although not as much as they were at the start of the year) so I don't think I will be able to shop around and don't really want the hassle. I'm not against it though if they'll have me...
I've not been approved by Get a Drip, my last email was that it was being reviewed yesterday. I will spend some time at the weekend figuring out who are the cheapest and whether any of them will let me order every other month so I can take 2.5 out of a 5 and keep costs down...

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 04/09/2025 15:20

Hello - how is everyone doing? I'm hoping over the next few weeks we'll hear how people are getting on with a move to wegovy, carrying on with SheMed and/or working with new pharmacies! I hope we hear lots of weight loss and non scale victories too :)

@Bear2014 Yay for the pen! I'm not fussed about alcohol either but wasn't super into it before - I think I have a general "not fussedness" to food and drink in general that its easy to forget wasn't there before January for me - like ever!!

@Reginaphalangeeeee So glad you had a fab time! And most of the 2k will be water weight from travelling/ salt I am sure so will be off in no time :). I'm glad they're sorting your pen. Looking back I'm realising they never really handle anything quickly!

I'm not going to shop around each month as such as I think it will be easier to stick with one pharmacy and almost treat it like a subsciption one but every 5 weeks. I'm still choosing between Medino/pharmulous for purely online or the Crest one I really like the service of. But I think money may be the deciding factor! I do my 3rd check in tomorrow which will trigger the questionnaire for SheMed I guess... I think I just don't do it?

As I have my next pen I'm not too sure at what point I'll order - whether to keep a whole pen in hand or just each time I start one to order the next one. I think I will just go every 5 weeks from when I ordered my last one!

I've so far read that Pharmulous and Swift Dr support maintenance... But I think with all the tightening up of regs I'm not quite sure how it all works if you take more than 5 weeks. Presumably lots of people stockpiled so there must be a way!

I called SheMed a few days ago they have a voice message which just says don't fill in the refill and that you can fill it in in the future if you want to go back to them.
I missed a call from Get a Drip who said that my BMI was near to the cut off and they would prescribe this time but need to discuss how I come off them as they don't want me on them long term. I'd intended my next pen to be with pharmulous and do similar to you @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden

They calculated it as 22.19, so I guess their cut-off must be 22.

BruhWhy · 04/09/2025 18:25

Right, finally got my wegovy pen sorted. They looked at my history and decided that it would be OK for me to try it at a comparative dose, so the equivalent to 10mg mounjaro.

Now I'm bricking it and second guessing myself. Am I going to literally shit my pants?!?! 😫

Anyway I will update the thread as to the status of my pants in due course. Wish me luck.

OneAzureMaker · 04/09/2025 19:48

@BruhWhy I hope all goes well and do let us know.

I have had my Numan pen approved and it should be arriving tomorrow. All very straightforward and easy, photo of myself full length from the front and side, passport photo and then a photo of my Mounjaro box so I could go in the same dose.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 04/09/2025 21:13

Thanks @OneAzureMakergreat to know.
i have to send them a picture of my last prescription box too.
Do you think SheMed get notified when we get another prescription elsewhere? What is there to stop people getting a prescription from each chemist at the same time?

Thanks @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden, yes must have been travelling weight as back to 105kg today which means 0.5kg gain only rather than 2kg. I’m ok with that as I adjust to normal foods again now home.
My golden dose wasn’t a full 10mg dose of 0.6ml. I got confused and only did 0.5ml so that paired with all inclusive I am happy. Though still awaiting the one from SheMed… maybe Numan will come sooner.
@OneAzureMakerplease let me know who the courier is.. hoping a sensible one who gives tracking info. Goodness with the cost of these pens right now you need it to arrive ok!!

good luck @BruhWhy, really interested to hear how you get on.

Bear2014 · 04/09/2025 21:16

My Numan is arriving tomorrow by Royal Mail. I don’t know how SheMed could possibly know if you get a prescription from elsewhere. People are seemingly overlapping providers a lot on here.

Sorry, not a SheMed person but have been following these threads since the start. Trying not to fangirl @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden you’ve done brilliantly as have you all.

Im at target and currently with Cloud but was hoping after my current pens run out to go over to GetaDrip as I like their prices but if they don’t support maintenance then I guess I’m stuck with Cloud as they do.

I'm sure Get a Drip said they do, but I think probably with a BMI of 22 or above, although who knows. There are plenty of providers who do support maintenance.
Also fangirling @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden 🙌

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 04/09/2025 21:59

Good luck @BruhWhy ! Hope the pants stay okay!! It seems so individual how people react to each drug.

@tinyemmy That's helpful. So I shouldn't do the questionaire tomorrow? Do I email them or ring them? Do I still check in??

@OneAzureMaker Yay for meds! mine was a photo of me next to a tape measure, photos of feet on a scale with ID and the date, and my current prescription or box... And then really simple. It will be weird not doing the check ins!!

I don't think they can tell shemed but they do all tell the gp. So I guess several at one would end up at the GP? I'm going to stick with just one though once I'm sure!

❤️❤️ To you all.

I know Crest does maintenance and individual conversations but they expect you to stay with them and weren't the cheapest (but cheaper than Shemed!) I'm not sure how low bmi they go.

Pharmulous also say they do Maintenance and were cheaper at 10mg but don't know about lower ones.

Monj compares them and has a spreadsheet but be aware some of the prices would only be the first month with a discount so takes that into account.
There are some not on there too.

Yes, don't bother checking in any more. Don't fill in the refill questionnaire.
I guess if you want the option to remain on the £99 deal it might be worth checking in for a bit but if you want to cancel essentially just don't fill in the questionnaire.
I have decided I'm no longer going to check in. I am going to stay on mj or come off completely, I'm not interested in wegovy.
I have had some emails reminding me to fill in the questionnaire, I've turned off notifications and presume the emails will stop soon, I've maybe had two.

Earthgirl3971 · 04/09/2025 22:22

I filled out my questionnaire early so I could get sent another pen. The 10mg was knocking me about and I'm not confident about titrating down clicks and getting it right.

Just waiting for my equivalent of 5mg Wegovy to be approved then I can take my shot sometimes next week. My friend has bought the 10mg MJ off me so I'm not out of pocket in paying for my prescription twice.

Without MJ today I can feel the hunger pangs and it was beautiful to eat a healthy portion of food and not feel nauseous afterward at dinner time. I wonder how I'll sleep. I had begun to have weird energetic dreams and wasn't feeling myself. My thirst was off the charts aswell. I think there was a few ways I wasn't coping that I can see now.

So I've finished MJ and 10st 7lb exactly which is a loss of over 3 and a half stone and it's took 6 months. Now I'm going into dose reductions and maintaing my weight and the WG when I get that will hopefully assist. Will keep you posted on how that goes. Not a great time to start something new and make a change as I've been prescribed Ryeqo which is a trial chemical menopause by my doctor (adenomyosis treatment while on hysterectomy waiting list) so with taking both things together this month I'm going to find it hard to point to the culprit of any new side effects.

I've only got 2 more doses I could check in for and I don't want wegovy for a few months at least. So I guess that really is it 😳. Feels odd!

@Earthgirl3971 Good luck with it. It could turn out to be just the right thing for maintenance now you've lost the weight. And not feeling nauseaus is good!

Good luck with both the meds. Hopefully all will go well with both x
