Shemed January Starters - Thread 4

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/08/2025 18:38

Hello everyone! I completely missed the other thread was full (haven't been too well this week) so I've started this one and will tag as many people as I can think of from recent pages. Do tag anyone else you think of that might miss the new thread!

I hope everyone is okay. It's been unsettling times hasn't it with all the news about the price increases and very little from Shemed as to what they are planning. I am hopeful that of all people we will be shielded the most due to being on the Study (fingers crossed).

I weighed in this morning and took second dose of the 10mg. I seemed to put on this morning but if I take the weight I've been most of this week...

I am exactly half way to my target! And I've lost 25% of my bodyweight!

10mg - so far no burps or nausea but I am wondering if this extreme tiredness is in part due to the drug. Was eating just as I was before the last couple of days but today don't want to eat so who knows!

I'll read up and tag people if I can.

@DearRaven That sounds a plan. I don't talk about this in real life so this group (and the 10stone plus one) have been such a source of support ❤️.

@BruhWhy Yes that's plenty of time before their deadline so they do owe you a pen! I hope you get a response soon.

Hope all goes well with Numan. My Medino one arrived within 24hours - I was really impressed. I have checked though and the prices have gone up since (from 209 to 234 for 10mg) and I wonder if it will go up again. I have a 10% code - but I'm now thinking I'll see what they all charge in a week or so.

I realised yesterday I quite wanted the final blood test from Shemed... But I'm not paying hundreds extra to get it if I can get MJ cheaper.

Id love to hear how people who move to wegovy find wegovy too. As realistically I can't spend more than £200 a month.... 😬.

You can always buy the blood test directly with the blood test company, I think it's maybe £50? They have lots of different options.

I'm still unsure what to do 🤣 definitely leave SheMed (if I can) and then wait until everything has calmed down and try and get maintenance with as cheap as I can get it. I only need 2.5 or 5 if I can order every other month... Whenever I look things are out of stock which is actually in my favour as I can say I haven't been able to order for that reason. From what I can tell it will be about £150 for 2.5 and £170 for 5, so I'm hoping they'll let me order every other month and then it will be like paying less than SheMed a month. I'm sad that it's played out like this. I thought they'd honour the contract... But I don't blame them, between a rock and a hard place

Earthgirl3971 · 30/08/2025 15:21

I'm going down to 5mg I think, 10 is much too strong and I hated how tired I was on 7.5mg so need to skip that one.

I wish I didn't have another 10mg in my fridge now and I was on my way down the dosage back to 0. I'm still conflicted on if to WG or just stop. It will depend on the changes to the adherence program after 1st October.

I'm not enjoying the feeling any longer of being on WLI , the nausea is getting bad as the mg is too strong and I'm around 3lbs away from my goal weight though I'm struggling to eat three meals a day and instead having two.

If I carry on, I plan to start on equivalent dose on WG then make my way down every four weeks till I reach 0.25mg for maintenance.

Well done to everyone who has managed to secure a MJ pen and bought themselves some time before making the decision. I'm disappointed that the study seems to have gone by the wayside. I was looking forward to them releasing the data halfway through the study so I could feel happy I've been part of this good work but it does feel unlikely now after the disruption that this pricing change would have caused.

I would look on the Numan app as there should be a countdown thing for the deadline for submitting photos. Do it right near the end of that countdown and then they have 48 hours to review before despatch so that should take you to Weds. I would be nervous of completing the steps after Sunday for the cheaper prices but who knows

Thank you @Bear2014yes it says 37 hours left to verify.
I will do tomorrow (Sunday evening). Hopefully that should mean nothing happens before I am back.

Have you heard anything yet?

Well done being so close to target! Can you not just use your 10mg pen to titrate down by under clicking?
Sorry you are not feeling good on it. I do feel tired for 1-2 days but really otherwise feel great.

Nothing yet no! I think they are probably quite overwhelmed with all of us

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 30/08/2025 22:49

@Reginaphalangeeeee I love the refraining of £800 and how much we've achieved in that time and how much we've lost. It is amazing looking back. I'd never have imagined it would work this well. Even though I've got a lot to go I remember in January being so nervous it might not work.

I've just compared some undie photos and I look so different between now and January. June to August I look the same though 😬.

I did try adding up what the next year might cost me which is also scary...!

I so hope I can get there.

OP posts:
JBJ · 31/08/2025 12:09

Yes I’ve also been adding up how much it might cost me to lose the rest of the weight I need to lose. Still undecided what I want to do, but have decided to do another month on 10mg MJ as just not ready to swap yet, plus the week I’d be swapping would be just as I’m heading to a festival so not prepared to risk side effects whilst in a field! Somebody posted a screenshot of an email on the FB group where SheMed have confirmed it’s ok to stay on MJ at the higher cost then swap to Wegovy at the lower price later, so I’m doing that for now (I emailed them last week, twice, asking the same thing and didn’t get a response).

I’m looking at the overall cost from a point of view of if someone had come to me with a magic wand in January, when I was at my heaviest, and asked how much I was willing to pay for them to wave the wand and make me 10st lighter, I’d have maxed out a credit card to the tune of about £5k to make it happen, so I’m not giving up having spent £800 and being halfway there!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 31/08/2025 12:20

Yes that's true. I kind of feel at half way there the second half is going to cost 3 x the amount... But looking back we did get such a good deal since Jan and for me I really appreciated not ahbignnto shop around. I'd probably have gone up the doses faster left to my own devices so I do appreciate that I was on the programme as with so much left to go I'm glad I'm only recently up to 10!! And financially 10 is better than 15....

So yes if we add it all up and divide by say 2years the first 8 months can subsidise the next... Or something. We really don't have the money easily and we didn't go on holiday this year (we did do a weekend and a few days camping but not a week in a cottage like we usually do) and aware we might not next year. But I'm also hoping I can do a few more hours at work and that I'll have the stamina maybe...

And in a few months I can look at how wegovy is doing.

I guess like all of us I thought I was leaving any actual. Decisions until the edn of the trial/after Xmas so it's a bit of a shock! (understatement). And I was bracing myself for a leap to 159....

Same, except I was bracing myself for going up to maybe £120 with another company on 2.5 🤣

I was so desperate when I signed up that I was willing to be tied into a contract for for £1300. I'd do it again knowing how great I feel now.

Jab due tomorrow, I don't intend to stay with SheMed so does that mean I don't have to check in? What a relief of so, it was really quite annoying! And extra time I can't afford on an in office day.

DearRaven · 31/08/2025 16:53

@tinyemmy I asked SM the same question about checking in when I emailed to cancel, haven’t had a reply as yet. Will update you all if I ever get a response.

Also concerned that the app wouldn’t let me delete my bank card details. Their phone message says we don’t need to do anything to cancel other than not fill out the next refill request, so hope that’ll be enough to stop them taking further funds. (Probably just me overthinking on this one due to already paying out of my august wage for the 7.5mg I bought!)

Can take a stop the payment through your bank account? I think you should be able to, then they can't take any money.

JBJ · 01/09/2025 07:49

Weigh in day! Another 3lb loss, taking me to 4st 12.6lb. So close to 5st.

One more dose left in 10mg pen and got to do my refill questionnaire today. Ordering one more month of MJ, but I’m a bit concerned they won’t have any stock. Fingers crossed!

Good luck everyone!

Bear2014 · 01/09/2025 10:40

Good Morning all, hope things are going well. I have yet to weigh myself since being in France for 9 days and not jabbing while I was there. I didn't want to risk anything happening to it in transit etc so kept it safely at home.

I chased Numan and they told me it is taking up to 4 days to process new customers because of recent events and higher numbers of applications. So I guess that takes me through to tomorrow before I find out if they accept me / if they have anything in stock etc.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 01/09/2025 17:48

Morning all.

@Reginaphalangeeeee have you got your pen yet??

I had a bit of a woosh (post period) this morning. Despite the move up to 10mg it didn't seem to be doing a lot more than 7. 5 then 1kg "overnight " so am hopeful.

I've found a few places selling 10mg cheaper than Shemed (including the medino one I ordered a pen from - 234 and then either 8% loyalty discount or 10= referal code (happy to share it!) so I may stay with them. 211 over 5 weeks while the golden dose is there sounds marginally better than SheMeds offer.

I've found medicine market place and pharmulous offer 10mg at 239 too.

Feels weird thinking about leaving!! It's my third check in with Shemed this Friday so will make a proper decision by then.

Hope to keep hearing how everyone is getting on.

I was driving to work this morning and noticed how much the gap between the steering wheel and my stomach has increased 😊. A long way to go but it is really working....

Just took my second walk of the week in a weighted vest
Wow, it's a really sure workout. I can feel it everywhere. I went for around 45 mins in total no hike just around the local area.

Really recommend it for low impact strength training we were discussing before last week I think it was. I feel it in my tummy and back shoulders and legs literally everywhere, it's a 5kg vest.

My ass is seriously flat.. got to work on that but hate squats does anyone have anything that's a bit more low key and achievable for the bum/ glutes for the gal who just getting back into exercise. Thankyou .

X

OneAzureMaker · 01/09/2025 20:29

I have started a HIIT strength training class for women 40+. I went for the first time last Wednesday and Sunday was the first day I could walk downstairs properly and sit on the loo without clinging to the wall and windowsill!!

I went for the second time today, the classes are outdoors and it's at 7am home by 8 and feeling very proud of myself. Everyone is really friendly and I feel I could enjoy going, which is something I've never thought about exercise. They also play music from the 80's/90's!!

I may be after your code @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I've ordered a 10mg from Numan, but not had confirmation yet. Shemed seems like a bit of a safety net and that is what I liked about it, not having to think about it, and also something that made me commit to a year as I was fearful of starting on WLI.

But, I've decided to leave and also to take it as an opportunity to really try and get the most out of Mounjaro, which I confess I haven't always. Now is the time to really start eating the right things and exercising etc.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 01/09/2025 21:07

Wow the class sounds fantastic! And will be nice to be part of a group in your new area ❤️. Really impressed at the early mornings! Do they run even in the rain? It's hitting lots of buttons isn't it (Community, exercise, being outside...!)

I've been a bit nervous about losing the security but I've decided to reframe it that it got me up and running and I'm grateful for that. I'm really glad it slowed me down from rushing up doses which I'd have done on my own. We're established now- I know it works and I think it will be okay.

Medino only let you order once every 4 weeks so it's not like the ones that bulk order, and there's space to leave a comment for the pharmaxist/ you can email questions so it's not too dissimilar I'm telling myself. It's just I'm in charge of if I want to stick/go up/go down.

I'll message you the code but dont feel you need to go with them. It does look like there's options. How much does numan work out as?

So every half a stone I have been treating myself - a bit late this time but I brought a whole skincare treatment (cleanser/toner & serum) from a brand my 16 yr old daughter recommended! It felt amazing tonight getting ready for bed and actually taking some me time to unwind rather than just jumping in and scrolling! Im definitely going to fit skincare into my morning and night routines. I feel really good in myself and I’m lay in bed grinning 😁. I have a very stressful job and with family and life pressures I’m the worst for not taking a step back and looking after me! one of the takeaways I have for from this process is actually finding me again and a new zest for life!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 01/09/2025 22:22

Greetings all from the last day of my sunny holiday.
Great to hear the determination, grit, exercise plans and general shopping for deals here. Also above all, it seems we are all now out of the shock stage and resolved to finding options.

SheMed have emailed and said they will replace my pen free of charge but will wait until I am back to dispatch. They said their usual pharmacy is out of stock for 10mg but have another.
I will sort it Wednesday once home.
That gives me 4 weeks before having to do the questionnaire and decide what I will do.
I know that I am staying on MJ, I just not sure how I will go about it yet.

i am awaiting numan response, that may mean I get issues 2 pens (replacement one from SheMed and Numan?).
Interested in where everyone will source it. I am not sure why SheMed think people will stay with them if there are cheaper options elsewhere, but it is still not clear if it will be?

Anyway. I brought my golden dose on holiday. Messed up the measurement and only drew 0.5mg rather than the correct 0.6 🙄. I got confused by chatGPT!
Any way this only works out to 8.3mg not 10mg but to be honest I am pleased I didn’t do more, the foods I am eating here make digestion less comfortable anyway and the injection was enough for supression. Eating just because on holiday and don’t want to waste the opportunity to try alll the yummy things here, I am just careful to try but not scoff

Bear2014 · 02/09/2025 08:21

Hope you’ve had a lovely holiday @Reginaphalangeeeeeand that’s good news about the pen.

finally heard from Numan yesterday asking for a photo of my current meds to confirm dosage. So things are moving.

checked in with SheMed just now and my weight is stable despite my 10 day gap between jabs and daily croissants in France so i’m delighted about that.

DearRaven · 02/09/2025 12:13

Weigh day yesterday, 1.1kg loss & 17.1kg in total. Much better than last week’s gain & has put me in a great mood.

Had my first non SheMed delivery. Ordered from Get a Drip at 4:30ish on Friday, was approved by 7pm & delivered today. Really pleased with GaD, communication at every stage & order was packed in wool with two ice packs rather than bubble wrap & one ice pack like SheMed. Referral codes aren’t used but price was at the lower end, 40% off each month if subscribing or one-off 50% off first order (got their info from monj.co.uk). I subscribed as I’ll be ordering two more pens before stopping.

Starting to sound like an ad! Just wanted to share a positive post SheMed experience after all the uncertainty. Looking forward to hearing from everyone about their orders, still hoping one of us finds a price drop miracle.

Have a great week ☺️

OneAzureMaker · 02/09/2025 14:13

Numan have been in touch for photo of my Mounjaro box which I've just sent. With the offer code it will be £149 and then £249 going forwards, but the main thing is it will give a bit of breathing space to find the best offers. But £249 is still substantially less than £279!

I would be keen to find one that has a lower price if you commit to them longer term, but I think this month we shall get a better idea of where things are at.

TaliaTalia · 02/09/2025 14:38

Hi folks.
Ive not been on these threads since about February/March time. Honestly I stayed away because I felt a bit guilty. The whole thing has been an absolute breeze 🙈. Have really enjoyed catching up with everyone’s progress ❤️
No real side effects beyond mild constipation, I’ve lost nearly 70lbs and am only around 4lbs from my first goal. Literally the only hiccup I’ve had was last week, I took my 10mg on the Friday and went to a family party Saturday night where I drank heavily and ate greasy barbecue food and oh my goodness I’m still paying for it now.

Ive now been given the choice to switch from mj to wegovy (which is what reminded me of this thread) and I really don’t know what to do. I was hoping to taper down rather than stop the meds cold turkey, but I definitely can’t afford months of mounjaro at that price. I doubt I’d be able to get anything prescribed elsewhere either as I’m a healthy BMI now (omg! First time in 17 years!) but I’m absolutely terrified of switching jab. I feel like I’ve been TOO lucky with mounjaro and switching up is asking for trouble.

Would love to hear experiences from anyone who was prescribed wegovy or has switched over from mounjaro.

Mummymelmoo · 02/09/2025 17:01

Just wanted to share my experience ordering from a different supplier, in case it helps anyone else who’s now at a healthy BMI. I was a bit worried it might be difficult, but it was actually really straightforward.

I ordered a new 5mg MJ pen from Curely for £160 — which is quite a bit less than the £239 Shemed were charging for the exact same pen. All I had to provide was proof of my previous prescription, or a photo of my old pen showing my name and dosage clearly on the label.

I did find a few other companies that would also allow me to order at my current BMI, as long as I could show evidence that I’d already been prescribed Mounjaro, but many were out of stock.

I’m so relieved that I can now continue with my maintenance journey without the stress of having to stop MJ completely.

Amazing, I just ordered from them. I ordered a 5mg with the 50% discount and then might go with them for a subscription for 2.5 but I currently have one open pen and will have two in the fridge
