Shemed January Starters - Thread 4

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/08/2025 18:38

Hello everyone! I completely missed the other thread was full (haven't been too well this week) so I've started this one and will tag as many people as I can think of from recent pages. Do tag anyone else you think of that might miss the new thread!

I hope everyone is okay. It's been unsettling times hasn't it with all the news about the price increases and very little from Shemed as to what they are planning. I am hopeful that of all people we will be shielded the most due to being on the Study (fingers crossed).

I weighed in this morning and took second dose of the 10mg. I seemed to put on this morning but if I take the weight I've been most of this week...

I am exactly half way to my target! And I've lost 25% of my bodyweight!

10mg - so far no burps or nausea but I am wondering if this extreme tiredness is in part due to the drug. Was eating just as I was before the last couple of days but today don't want to eat so who knows!

I'll read up and tag people if I can.

@YouWillFindMeUnderCats Wow you've literally got in with the last pen there. What a relief!

I'm sorry I can't remember where you were at /aiming! It's certainly quite a big deal when there's a lot to go isn't it. I think I'd be happier to go to wegovy for maintenance. But where this has worked so well so far I'm nervous. I don't know yetn😬.

I started Jan at 21st 11 and need to be 11stone to have a normal bmi.

OP posts:
YouWillFindMeUnderCats · 29/08/2025 12:46

I started at 21st 13. I am reasonably tall so my normal BMI starts at 12st 6. I was last at that weight 25 years ago and I know how hard it was to achieve and maintain. ( ha…I’ve been losing and gaining the same 3 stone over the last 15 years!) If I can get to 12 stone something again I will be very happy.

For the first time in a very long time I felt like I had a real chance of getting there this time. I’m not thinking about food and looking for cheats and treats. My next goal is to get into the 17s and keep dropping, that’s been a sticking point in the past and the point where my will power has failed me.

I have 5 more MJ doses now so planning on really focusing to get as much out of them now as I can.

BruhWhy · 29/08/2025 13:02

I'm happy to switch to wegovy, however I don't see an option or any way for me to actually do that?! I took my last dose of 10mg this morning and now have no medication for next week. I'm going to email shemed but has anyone actually heard from them regarding sending out wegovy?

kittykarate · 29/08/2025 13:40

I think the switch to Wegovy question is supposed to appear when you do your refill questionairre. Are you 'owed' a pen @BruhWhy that was approved before the world ended or are you waiting for an approval?

Bear2014 · 29/08/2025 14:06

Hi all, well this is all a bit shit isn’t it. As things stand I have 5 weeks’ MJ in the fridge and am currently attempting to buy a pen from Numan with a discount code before prices go up. I think I’ll leave Shemed and try my luck on the other suppliers trying to use discount codes etc. hope everyone is ok!!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 29/08/2025 14:48

@BruhWhy Have you done a refill questionnaire or waiting to do one? You get the option when you next do one.

@Bear2014 Mine is arriving today! But I still think post September prices will be very high everywhere. I see people are getting back into sharing codes and one of the things I liked about SheMed was not needing to hunt each month but I will do it now as its so expensive!

@YouWillFindMeUnderCats Ah yes I remember now - height makes such a difference doesn't it!

It will be an interesting few months and it will be so useful to hear how everyone gets on as its uncharted territory in many ways really isn't it.

It’s so tedious isn’t it. We can perhaps share codes amongst ourselves and keep the support group going. Will report back if this Numan thing works out ok!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 29/08/2025 17:02

Is anyone able to share a discount code with me?
Abroad so no scales or measure tape 😬 us there anyway to get something before September?

DearRaven · 29/08/2025 17:03

So I’ve just ordered a 7.5mg pen (down from 10mg) and will then go to 5mg, then 2.5mg, then stop. That gives me 16 weeks to reduce down the doses as I have a full 10mg in hand. Last jab will be 15th Dec unless I use the additional liquid where possible and take myself into the new year.

Some pharmacists say you can stop at any time, others have said it’s better to go down the doses. I feel a gradual reduction will be best for me and am happy with my decision (if not the situation).

May then go onto Wegovy, just not able to do that now and risk side effects this side of Christmas, as there’s too much going on in the run up.

There, I can breathe again ☺️

@Bear2014 definitely let us know about Numan and any discounts.
Hope you get things sorted @BruhWhy.
Don’t intend to leave the group @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden, I’ll need the support when I stop & can give any tips I pick up for the after. Nobody I know takes WLIs so you’ve all been a lifeline. The kindness of strangers is a powerful thing 😁

I can’t DM as my laptop at home but can post the code into the discounts thing over on money matters. If you could find and use mine that would be fab! X

Bear2014 · 29/08/2025 17:08

Ok have just posted my referral link to weight loss promo codes. I am on holiday so no scales etc. you just need photos and a passport image. Says clinician reviewing currently and they’ve taken 1p off my payment card in the meantime

That’s good news.
I have passport I can upload while away too.
sorry I am really dumb, no idea what I do to get your code?

Go to Topics on Mumsnet > Money > weight loss promo codes. Then my thread is at the top called ‘Numan £100 off code’. There is a clicky link in there that takes you to the site with the discount applied

Kaggi9 · 29/08/2025 19:51

So, I did my check in today and completed the questionnaire. Nothing was mentioned on the check in but it is included in the questionnaire and you have to select if you want to move to Wegovy or stay on MJ. It then asks about any side effects and if you want to start Wegovy on the lowest dose or be reviewed by a clinician following your answers if you’ve chosen to switch.

Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone - people have come so far with this we need to fine something that works to keep it going!

Yep, completed it 5 days ago just before they sent out the wegovy bat signal. So I can't fill out another one and I have no meds! I've emailed them, I'm just hoping they manage to sort it by next week...

Thank you @Bear2014 I think I sorted that. I have to wait I to hear now.
How long till u heard something?

OneAzureMaker · 30/08/2025 07:56

@Bear2014 I've just done numan too, exceptionally straightforward, let's just hope it actually arrives. They've verified my card and I've sent the photos and id

Bear2014 · 30/08/2025 08:08

Thanks both - not heard yet but I just did the photos, email verification etc yesterday and it says within 48 hours so trying to put it out of my mind for now. It does all seem good and legit etc so fingers crossed for us all 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I come back from France tomorrow so they can feel free to dispatch from then!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 30/08/2025 08:55

@DearRaven That sounds a plan. I don't talk about this in real life so this group (and the 10stone plus one) have been such a source of support ❤️.

@BruhWhy Yes that's plenty of time before their deadline so they do owe you a pen! I hope you get a response soon.

Hope all goes well with Numan. My Medino one arrived within 24hours - I was really impressed. I have checked though and the prices have gone up since (from 209 to 234 for 10mg) and I wonder if it will go up again. I have a 10% code - but I'm now thinking I'll see what they all charge in a week or so.

I realised yesterday I quite wanted the final blood test from Shemed... But I'm not paying hundreds extra to get it if I can get MJ cheaper.

Id love to hear how people who move to wegovy find wegovy too. As realistically I can't spend more than £200 a month.... 😬.

OP posts:
Reginaphalangeeeee · 30/08/2025 09:53

Yes I agree @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden.
blood test nice to have but mine was all green except the ‘good cholestrol’ which is too low. So that in mind I am not feeling loyalty to SheMed now. I really hate that they delayed communication which gave many of us a false sense of security.
i also have been so diligent and spent time worrying about check in’s etc to stay on the adherence programme for them to just disregard the contract like they have. Change on to Wegovy because of price makes a mockery of the research as they set it out. I know delivery issue of my own not their fault but I now don’t trust them to right the mistake but will wait and see.

A friend of mine was getting on well with MJ except a few local injection site irritations which got worse after each jab. She was moved onto Wegovy and found no supression, no weight loss (maintenance only) and worse constipation.
i am not prepared to come off something I know works for something so unsure and still pay £99 a month for. Realistically it would be 2-3 months before knowing how effective. I am not prepared to pay £300 for the gamble and minimal weight loss.
i would rather pay that for one month on MJ which works! There is no doubt for me that a journey on Wegovy would be longer, so although half the price, given time to iterate I could spend more.

I have decided I will do the code hunting options to get it as cheap as I can as a new customer each month.

I need to do the pictures and verification on Numan but as not back from holiday til Wednesday I am worried to do it now and risk it being delivered while not there. Do you think that it will keep the same discounted price from the link or new price. Worried as they have card payment detail they could take a new price?

I would look on the Numan app as there should be a countdown thing for the deadline for submitting photos. Do it right near the end of that countdown and then they have 48 hours to review before despatch so that should take you to Weds. I would be nervous of completing the steps after Sunday for the cheaper prices but who knows

Reginaphalangeeeee · 30/08/2025 10:05

Another point for reflection…
I have paid £800 this year to loose 5 stone. That is worth every penny!
I felt SheMed stalled my increment of doses both to 7.5 and 10mg which annoyed me and I had a significant stall that had I sourced myself I would have gone up. Mounjaro is no longer the slow and long term option for me financially so I need to use it as effectively as I can. I want to loose another 3 stone as a minimum. I may have to price each stone as extra incentive.
I think 1 stone in 2 months is doable. So at £50 a week..if some said £400 to loose a stone… I’d take that!

gosh the mind tricks this has all played! There is an internal dialog in my head that running over options, bargaining the finances and my health needs that no one else can hear. I am sure the same is true for all of you. Sending positive wishes for you all.

It’s all very Black Mirror isn’t it 😱 I’m also thankful to the Shemed thing (and my good judgement going on it promptly in Jan) that I’ve managed to lose 3 stone this year for £800. Hopefully we can manage to swing it somehow going forward.

Kaggi9 · 30/08/2025 11:48

@Reginaphalangeeeee - interesting about your blood results. I was the same - all green except for the good cholesterol. A side effect maybe? I’ve started taking a Niacin supplement to increase it.
