Shemed January Starters - Thread 4

Hello everyone! I completely missed the other thread was full (haven't been too well this week) so I've started this one and will tag as many people as I can think of from recent pages. Do tag anyone else you think of that might miss the new thread!

I hope everyone is okay. It's been unsettling times hasn't it with all the news about the price increases and very little from Shemed as to what they are planning. I am hopeful that of all people we will be shielded the most due to being on the Study (fingers crossed).

I weighed in this morning and took second dose of the 10mg. I seemed to put on this morning but if I take the weight I've been most of this week...

I am exactly half way to my target! And I've lost 25% of my bodyweight!

10mg - so far no burps or nausea but I am wondering if this extreme tiredness is in part due to the drug. Was eating just as I was before the last couple of days but today don't want to eat so who knows!

I'll read up and tag people if I can.

Hey! Just checking in as have been getting emails from shemed about being a founding member and trying to tempt me back with a deal.. but it's for wegovy which doesn't work well for me for the inflammation stuff! I've just moved up finally to 15mg of mj, where I'll stay before working out what I do next. I hope you're all doing really well, it sounds like we're all in much better places health wise than when we took the leap last Jan.

I'm about 9 stone 11 now, which is effing bonkers, and a size 10 in a lot of shops, which is also effing bonkers. I have got some crepey neck going on but it's not too awful, and I am in my 40s after all. I'm just much healthier, and even though I still largely see the same me in the mirror I am starting to notice the loss. No-one else really noticed until I'd lost 4 stone, and I've only lost another 10lbs since then! It's true what they say about how once you get down a bit it's more noticeable, as I wasn't a size 12 for very long at all but stayed a 16 and 14 for ages before - but I am short! So it lingered for longer than on one of long limbs.

Afternoon all. I’m still here reading comments, but feeling very deflated. I can’t do this without the drug and I don’t know what to do. I have no control and am regaining at a rate of about 1lb a week, despite trying my bloody hardest to be careful. I’m finding I’m mindlessly grazing again without realising I’m doing it, then beating myself up for it and feeling guilty. It’s amazing how fast a year of good habits unravels!

This was me @JBJamd I'm now losing again. I've still got a bit to go but it's going really well. I got myself an accountability coach. She has been fantastic.

What’s an accountability coach? Does she follow you around and slap food out of your hands as I feel that’s what I need 😆

Hahaha I had a free call and then I decided to book in for a 90 minute call to put a strategy together. She is then on WhatsApp and she has a programme you can follow. It works! It's having someone on the end of a WhatsApp that is so useful plus the whole work around the strategy, vision etc.

Is the WhatsApp thing just between certain hours? My main issue is evenings

Officially yes, but unofficially no. If you need help she will respond even if it's outside of core hours. Although I find just the act of messaging is often enough. It wouldn't work if no one is there and I'm tried to have accountability groups before but that hasn't worked for whatever reason, but this has.

Exercise is a challenge at the best of times as I’m disabled, but I’m using my treadmill when I can manage it. I’ve got my post op follow up next week, so going to ask my surgeon what my options are. Frustrating thing is, I’ve got another couple of stones to lose, 5 full brand new Mounjaro pens in the fridge, and have been told not to use them. The urge to just inject is almost as strong as the urge to bloody eat at the minute 🤣

Hi everybody not been on here for ages so thought I’d check in and see how everybody’s doing. I moved over to Wegovy once the prices went up and have literally lost nothing for months. If anything I’m starting to put on again. I’ve been on 4.8mg, moving up to 7.2mg next week, but don’t have much hope. It’s just not Mounjaro!! I never intended to spend so much money a month so wondering if I’d be better starting on the lower doses of Mounjaro again. Anybody else in the same position?

Kaggi9 · 14/04/2026 16:28

Hi everyone!

Hope things are going well with you all now the chocolate rush of Easter is over.

@Reginaphalangeeeee I’m quite stable on the Wegovy 2.4 now so fingers crossed! I prefer MJ, but this is better than nothing.

So. Almost 15 months in now.

Starting weight: 17st2
Current weight: 9st7

Total lost: 107lbs, or 7st9

I don’t think I’ve ever been this small in my life, and my head still doesn’t see it in the mirror at all. My husband has started calling me ‘skinny bint’, but in an affectionate way that just makes me laugh. I’m wearing a size 10, but some are a bit loose. I’ve got great bingo wings and loose skin on my tummy and thighs, but at my age crop tops and hot pants aren’t on the cards so all is good!

The big thing now is maintaining. I need to get my head around what that looks like. I’m on the SheMed programme until next Jan, so have a bit of time to figure it out…

Reginaphalangeeeee · 23/04/2026 12:55

That’s fantastic @Kaggi9- you are doing so well!

Hows things @Mazd323 are you still on Wegovy or making the move back to MJ? Agreed. When I started in Jan 2025, I never intended to spend this much money. I mean, it will be £1000’s once I finish.
As a result, I can’t really afford a family holiday this year and feel terribly guilty. Everything so expensive now.

I am 40kg down still but been really consistent with eating lately so feeling like a loss could come and that although slow.. I just need more weight off!

I have just tipped into the 14 stone bracket and suspect it will take a long time to get out the other side. My BMI is sadly still 32 but I did start at 46! Coutch to 5km running is going well.

@JBJ how are things with you? I hope things have stabilised?

@tinyemmyhow is maintenance going. I’m still a long way from that but my weight loss looking like maintenance recently 🙄

@Shmallowthe seemed emails keep coming? Seems daily right now ‘don’t loose your founding member status’ 🙄 but their prices just can’t compare.

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGardenhow are you doing?

JBJ · 23/04/2026 13:01

@Reginaphalangeeeee I was just about to come on and update actually! It’s very good news - had my follow up consultation today, and my wonderful surgeon has said he’s more than happy to let me go back on Mounjaro and has written a letter to show to the pharmacists, which will hopefully let me get another prescription. I do have some new pens in the fridge though from stocking up last year, but would like to get a 2.5mg as going to have to start from scratch.

I can’t tell you how relieved I am! I’ve put an average of 1lb a week on since my op, and I’m really struggling with it all. Going to restart on a Monday so I’m back in the same routine as I was before. Hoping to get the last couple of stones off and then titre down slowly instead of stopping cold turkey like I had to back in January.

Well done @Reginaphalangeeeeethats great progress and fabulous news @JBJI hope mj works well for you, what dose worked last time?
My maintenance is going ok. I put on over a stone over a two month period (including half a stone on a ski holiday!) after I stopped mj. I have lost 5lbs since I made the conscious effort to stop the gain. I still have 10lbs to lose to get back to my goal. My weight has been quite static for a few weeks but I'm back on it now. It is definitely hard without mj as my binge eating has come back but I'm working on the emotional side. I'm glad that I lost most of the weight on mj. I wish I'd started this work earlier so I only had 5lbs to lose but there we go!

I got up to 10mg last time, but it was a bit much, so I was counting clicks and going 8mg, which was spot on. I’d lost 8st up until I was told to stop, but still a couple of stones to go to target, and god it’s hard without the help of MJ!

@JBJ that is fantastic news your surgeon is behind you! Does he think pancreatitis is not a worry now gall bladder out?
i remember how devastated you were to stop, was it Christmas time?
how much weight have you gained? Is it just hunger coming back or is it you have to eat different food now ?(I think you needed low fat diet?) which I guess could me more carbs?
You were so scared to eat while symptoms bad maybe caused a rebound with eating when pain went? Hope Monday goes well-keep us updated.

@tinyemmyamazing you are clawing back control to loose the weight. Are you microdosing or off MJ now?

My partner knows someone on MJ for 2years (at 15mg 1 year and is still gaining weight). That terrifies me getting to that dose and still struggling!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 23/04/2026 20:25

Sorry ladies, realise loads of questions there, don’t have to answer all. I am just genuinely interested to hear from others going through a battle.

I just had a skin cancer diagnosis. It’s treatable with surgical removal but will take me out of action a while. I’m scared I will turn to food for comfort and with less exercise I’ll start down that slippery slope. That’s why I love to hear from people it hasn’t be plain sailing and they have had bumps in the road to overcome. It gives me hope I can too!

Yeah it was early January time I was told to stop when I developed pancreatitis. I didn’t regain any weight until my gallbladder was removed 8 weeks ago and I’m just bloody starving all the time now and have lost all self control around food. I’m still having to take it easy with fatty stuff, but I’m introducing it slowly and seem to be ok with everything (including cheese which is a huge downfall of mine!).

My surgeon said, as the pancreatitis was caused directly by a gallstone getting stuck, and, despite what the hospital said at the time, there is absolutely no evidence that the Mounjaro had anything to do with it (scans showed the stuck stone), he feels the risk is extremely low. He said the amount of gallstones I had indicated they had been forming for years - way before I started on WLI - and he says the chances of WLI causing pancreatitis is about the same rate as obesity causing it, so he’s happy for me to start on a low dose. I never got above 10mg anyway, so will aim to stay on the lower end for as long as I can.

Oh bloody hell, sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed treatment is quick and successful. If you do hit a bump in the road, treat it as just that and get back on the flat the other side. Best of luck with it all.

Sorry to hear about the skin cancer diagnosis. I hope it's just a simple removal.

I've been off MJ for about 4 months. I put on a couple of pounds in January and the same in February, I then went skiing and put on half a stone and after messing around for a few weeks I found myself an accountability coach. I'm now losing again. It's not easy, I still want to binge eat (and have done) but I'm in much better control than I've ever been. It would definitely be easier with mj but I'm going to persevere for a bit longer as I'm hopeful I can beat this finally, but if I can't I will go back on mj.

kittykarate · 24/04/2026 09:00

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I'm so sorry to hear about your skin cancer diagnosis, I hope the removal goes well.

@JBJ great news that your surgeon is happy for you to go back on Mounjaro!

I was chatting to someone whose partner is on Mounjaro for 4 months and has lost 2kg. 5mg and he's thrown up several times a week - i was trying to politely say, maybe it's not for him. It's too bloody expensive to keep chasing the results. Their prescriber is blaming his lack of sleep for the lack of progress.

JBJ · 27/04/2026 10:05

Morning all. Weighed in and taken my 1st dose of 2.5mg this morning. Gained almost 10lb since stopping MJ in January and very pleased to be back on it again. Hopefully, I can lose the last couple of stones and then try to come off it gently, instead of cold turkey like I did the first time!

I have to say I am very nervous, as, although my surgeon has told me he’s happy that my pancreatitis risk is extremely low now the gallbladder is gone, the pain of that one episode I had is still very fresh in my mind, and I’m terrified of it happening again. But I’m more terrified of regaining the 8st I’ve lost (well, 7st 4.5lb thanks to the gains I’ve had since being able to eat again!), so I’m trusting my surgeons advice (he’s done a lot of research into WLI and is a specialist in all gastrointestinal issues) and starting again.

Week 1 again - 14st 4.9lb 2.5mg.
