Shemed January Starters - Thread 4

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/08/2025 18:38

Hello everyone! I completely missed the other thread was full (haven't been too well this week) so I've started this one and will tag as many people as I can think of from recent pages. Do tag anyone else you think of that might miss the new thread!

I hope everyone is okay. It's been unsettling times hasn't it with all the news about the price increases and very little from Shemed as to what they are planning. I am hopeful that of all people we will be shielded the most due to being on the Study (fingers crossed).

I weighed in this morning and took second dose of the 10mg. I seemed to put on this morning but if I take the weight I've been most of this week...

I am exactly half way to my target! And I've lost 25% of my bodyweight!

10mg - so far no burps or nausea but I am wondering if this extreme tiredness is in part due to the drug. Was eating just as I was before the last couple of days but today don't want to eat so who knows!

I'll read up and tag people if I can.

@Bear2014did yours arrive ok and within the 48hour window?

@JBJreally hope things are bringing to ‘move’. Sounds like you are doing everything right. I guess fluid levels maybe the one other thing to consider? Also coffee helps a bit.

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden yay for BMI 35!!! 🥳

I am 0.5kg down and BMI 34.1 now. It’s slower now at 0.5kg a week and I miss those big whooshes but at least it is going down. Not sure any Whoosh is possible now? Don’t plan on upping dose and 25% body weight loss total (34kg). That’s near 75lbs or 5stone 5lbs which is amazing but I know I set a 100lbs dream. 💯 club.
By that I knew I would be well under the 100kg mark and a total 45kg lighter taking me to my weight when I got married.
I have been heavy all my life but in teen and early adulthood that was big as in ‘10-20kg too much’. That didn’t really rocket until after I got married and I longed to look like I did back then. Size 16 all of a sudden became ‘small’ and not massive as I had once though in my teens.

Anyway,
Off to Euro Disney next week. Hoping for no gain and that additional eating will be balanced by additional walking. Due my period next week so always hold on a bit then. I need to still weigh myself (forever going forward) rather than avoid it because I know it will be up.

Really excited but so unsure of what to wear and so in between clothes sizes and styles I just don’t know what to take. Also Vinted stuff I like to arrive in time so may have to purchase a wardrobe staple I am comfortable with now. My baggy jeans falling down and drag. No good for walking a long way.
Any recommendations?

Bear2014 · 04/10/2025 15:48

@Reginaphalangeeeeemy pen arrived at 5pm yesterday, wasn’t cold cold but I just bunged it in the fridge and will start it in a week and a bit. Did you send yours back?

Reginaphalangeeeee · 04/10/2025 16:31

I haven’t sent back as working all day & such an unconvinced having stayed in two days for delivery to now stay for collection. Annoying things likely same issue next time as their policy to only pay £3 for 24tracknservice not £8 for special delivery. Mad when you think item costs what it does. I would bloody rather companies allowed us to pick a service we want. I don’t mind paying for it! I hate they give ‘free delivery’ but I am so restricted by it and neither supplier or post have any accountability/responsibility in this option it would seem

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 04/10/2025 18:09

Hope you have an amazing time at Disney! And yes ive noticed my weight loss is slower now.

The inconsistencies in delivery are so frustrating. I've got a pen from a new pharmacy to me being posted Monday /should arrive tuesday so will see what they're like.

I really needed today to catch up with work and after being out this morninfg I've compeltely crashed. In bed. Not sure if its overwhelm/sleep issues/ the next day of mounjaro or period... Could be all of the above.

Ive had electrolytes and did sleep a bif better last night. I think im so not used to full time work.

Ibe had such odd periods since being on MJ too. This one is 3 weeks after the last one and properly crampy.

8.3 seems similar to 10 for me in terms of appetite regulation. But the fatigue is still there. Its normally sun-wed I get the sulphur burps so fingers crossed...,

Hope everyone is okay. I didn't think I minded the shemed check ins but im so glad I don't t do them now!

JBJ hope things get moving soon.

Had a horrendous night last night and I’m not sure if it’s related to mounjaro or what. I’ve obviously been constipated and have, off and on, been getting a pain in the very top of my stomach. Usually comes on after eating and last 20 minutes or so. Mentioned it to the doc last week and I’ve got an ultrasound later this month to check my gallbladder, plus he’s doubled my dose of Lansoprazole in case it’s reflux related.

Last night, I woke up about 2am in huge amounts of pain. Couldn’t get into a position that eased it at all and threw up with pain at one point. It was at the very top of my stomach, under my ribs but kind of towards the middle. I took painkillers and copious amounts of pepto bismol. Lasted about 2 hours, by which time I was contemplating calling 111. This morning, my whole stomach feels almost bruised. Frightened to eat much in case it kicks off again.

I’m going away for a few days from tomorrow and I’m very nervous about it happening again whilst I’m not at home.

Anyone that’s had gallbladder issues, does this sound like it could be that? Or maybe related to reflux or constipation? Although I actually managed to go to the loo yesterday, so was hoping that was easing a bit!

YouWillFindMeUnderCats · 05/10/2025 19:44

Goodness @JBJ, that sounds horrendous. I hope someone comes along with some advice or help.

My Mounjaro journey comes to end today. I’ll be taking my first Wegovy jab before bed. After 36 weeks I’ve lost 3st 12.8lbs (54.8lbs). My current weight is 18.0.2 and my BMI is 36.1. I am apprehensive about the change. Each time I’ve moved up a dose it has taken a few weeks to settle back into losing consistently. Looking back, I spent 4 weeks too long on 5mg. I had 3 weeks of no losses. 10mg has recently been working really well for me, I’ve lost 6lbs over the last 3 weeks and I wouldn’t have been looking to make any changes at the moment. I’ve had no real side effects, other than a little bit of constipation.

I've had a bit of a wardrobe clear out and started thinking about winter clothes. I had to buy a size 24 coat last winter, it’s swamping me now! I actually wore a pair of size 18 jeans today!!!

I hope everybody does stay here and keeps checking in. You are the only people I’ve told about using WLI, and reading about your progress and experiences has been really helpful. I am still incredibly angry about the way SheMed has handled everything and I am thinking about what happens when the £99 deal comes to an end. I hope I get on with Wegovy but I maybe looking to return to MJ. Who knows?

I hope everyone has a great start to the week and the losses continue!

KoalaKoKo · 05/10/2025 19:58

My latest pen from SheMed has been over 3 days in transit, Royal Mail didn’t even attempt delivery on Friday or Saturday. Apparently it will come tomorrow, 4 days after posting on Thursday and no reply from SheMed - emailed multiple times! Their answering machine says they only operate Monday to Friday! It is such a farce!!

I’ve been getting intense pain under my ribs and also pelvic pain and crippling headaches - I think it could be constipation and also part hormonal - could be two separate things. Have you tried adding more fibre and water to your diet? I am having porridge with a spoon of seeds and some flaxseeds to start my day and trying to make myself eat more veg, avocado etc. I’ve also been taking a sachet of Laxido in the am. I feel a bit better, I think it gets worse when I’ve only had things like protein shakes instead of solid food. Trapped gas is also incredibly painful, feels like your insides are being twisted!

I’ve had ongoing pains under my ribs that were investigated by my lovely gp pre mountjaro - he ordered a scan of my gallbladder and kidneys as part of it and said all was healthy. The new pains are much worse and I saw a dismissive doctor who more or less said due to my age I am likely peri and to go on the pill and hrt - no tests, didn’t even feel my abdomen and the notes are full of the wrong information which shows she didn’t listen and decided it was a hormonal woman before I opened my mouth! I am taking one bit of advice from her which was to look at adding more fibre to my diet.

What I would say is that is if it is keeping you up all night go to a&e and see if they will scan you! Men get scans and tests for minor things while we spend a year sitting on waiting lists only to be dismissed. You need a scan when the pain is actively happening or they might not see what is causing it, write down all your symptoms before you go and don’t downplay it! My plan if my pain comes back is to go to a&e and make a fuss until they check me out properly! I am switching to wegovy (though my pen seems lost) and I am interested to see if that has any impact on the pain.

I’ve hugely upped my fibre intake to try and combat the constipation and take a supplement on top
of food now, so getting at least 30g a day. Drink at least 3ltr of water too. I’m contemplating dropping my dosage down a bit anyway, as the constipation only started on 10mg. Hopefully the pain is related to that and not my gallbladder.

If my son had been home, I probably would’ve gone to A&E tbh, but didn’t want to leave the dog on his own for hours and didn’t feel I could call anyone for help at that time. It was really quite scary!

Earthgirl3971 · 05/10/2025 20:51

Hi everyone, Ive seen a few threads about perimenopause and menopause the last few days.

Has anyone any advice as to how I can get hold of some vaginal estrogen please? For note I've done the online chemist thing and made myself older than I am to be over 50. Is that all I have to do?

t'll be months before I see my doctor again. Maybe another 2, and the dry fanny side effect of the Ryeqo is actually driving me mad a little bit. It's a little bit dry and none slidy because well I'm drying up inside aren't I. It's very strange to feel dry on the outside though as I usually have a fair bit of cleaning going on so I'm not used to nothing being on the outside but it's like the dessert in there , or the desert. Ha ha

Also someone commented on a GLP1 supplement but didn't say what it was or where they bought it from. Would you be so kind as to dish please and help a menopausal gal out 😄 as brain fog is a very real and bad thing.

Two weeks no WLI now.. feeling ok still needing to control that portion size though and think about every mouthful.

X

That pain location and intensity sounds very much like gallstones. I had my gallbladder removed 3 years ago. I used to get intense pain just below my ribs, it used to last around 6-7 hours, often with vomiting and usually beginning late afternoon/evening. Initially it felt like trapped wind. Really, really horrible pain, the sort that means you can't do anything but lie there and wait it out.

I hope you get a scan soon..

I'm on a 6 week strength training programme, just finished week 3. As part of that we are advised to have 100g protein daily, it has begun to make my weight shift a little again after a month with next to nothing.

I’ve got a blood test tomorrow and a scan on the 20th, so not too long to wait thankfully. Just worried about driving to and from our holiday this coming week in case it starts hurting again whilst I’m driving or just miles away from home.

JBJ · 06/10/2025 08:06

Weigh in this morning and 1.1lb loss. Away from lunchtime until Friday with my son and the dog, so won’t be drinking or eating too much crap thankfully! 1.7lb until next stone bracket (which I did briefly see on the scales on Thursday!).

Counted clicks and injected 8mg today to see if it helps with the constipation issue. Will also help get a bit extra out of each pen! Decided I’m cancelling SheMed now. I’ve got 3 10mg pens in the fridge currently, which will take me to at least January/February and just going to shop around after that for the best prices I can get. At 8mg, I’ll get at least 5 doses from each pen. Might even drop back down to 7.5mg if this doesn’t help.

@JBJ Really hope you're ok - that sounds awful. Agree with everyone else that you should demand to be taken seriously and get it thoroughly checked out. If it was a man he would have probably called an ambulance 😉

I'm finding that I'm still getting really decent suppression on 7.5mg MJ even by day 5 or so. I'm not really losing any more weight but then I'm not particularly trying either. I never went up to 10 because of cost and I'm now not sure if I ever will. Instead I will get 6 doses from my 10mg pens and possibly attempt to maintain longer term on 5mg or less. I'm happy to settle at my current weight (about 10 and a half stone) but am terrified of it creeping up again uncontrollably, especially as I have never even really been an over-eater or had a particularly big appetite. I just have rubbish genetics and my mum maintains her weight by pretty much eating one meal a day and has cast iron willpower 🤯

KoalaKoKo · 06/10/2025 09:50

Had the most frustrating call with SheMed - my medication still hasn’t arrived after 4 days and they have said it’ll come today as long as it’s not cloudy I should just use it. So after waiting for a parcel twice they want me to wait a third time and just take a risk that it’s fine. Unbelievable!

In the summer they insisted I use one that took two and a half days in hot weather and arrived warm - the pen wasn’t cloudy but I didn’t lose that month and didn’t feel suppression. The pen might be fine but why should we have to risk whether it’s efficacy is reduced because they chose the cheapest possible postage option for expensive drugs.

Ugh that's unbelievable. I'm really not friends with Shemed any more sadly, after all the BS that they have pulled on us all.

tinyemmy · 06/10/2025 13:20

Jab day and weight is a pound down on last week, I go up and down by 1 - 2 pounds throughout the week.
I went for 2.5mg (from 5mg pen) again although if it wasn't a 5mg pen I'd be tempted to go down. Maybe I should anyway, I'm just aware I've got quite a lot of mj and still want to get on the books of probably Pharmulous.
It's probably 12 weeks until I get to start on ADHD medication. Not sure whether to plan to stop mj the week before, or the month before. The month before means there will be no mj in my system (but I might not know when it is so will have to take a guess) but also I will start on a low dose so might not be useful for appetite suppression so might end up putting weight on..
3 months basically takes me to Christmas Day, so I'm thinking maybe take my last one the week before so I can gorge myself at Christmas. I'd worry if I stopped too early that I'd put too much weight on ahead of Christmas?? Plus I'm unlikely to have an appointment on the run up so likely to be in 2026 now realistically... So maybe I will finish both 5mg pens (maybe gifting the golden dose to hubby) and then buy a 2.5 to keep in the fridge for as needed / so that I'm in Pharmulous books, feels like an expensive thing to do...
Also hubby hasn't jabbed for two weeks so not sure what he's doing but he also has two pens in the fridge.

May I ask, what Wegovy dose did they give you? Best of luck btw!

I was transferred across to 1mg Wegovy. I’m not sure if that was what they would have done, but I requested that they prescribe an equivalent dose as I was worried that they would drop me down to a lower dose and my weight loss, which has been slower than lots of others with a similar amount to lose, would slow even further. I really hope the losses continue.

The first experience has been ok. I always feel a bit off on Sundays before I jab. I took it last night as I get ready for bed. It could all be in my mind but I did feel bit more ‘off’ and my stomach was grumbly. But, I woke up feeling all right this morning and today has felt pretty normal. The one thing I was worried about was an increase in pain in my arthritic knee but it’s felt good today. Fingers crossed for a good week and hopefully reaching that 4 stone loss on Sunday!

@KoalaKoKo I really feel your frustration! It is so annoying companies try and save £5 on postage so they can say ‘it’s free postage’. Just let us choose a reliable service given the value of the drugs.
Sadly I don’t think it’s only SheMed doing this. My Numan was delayed by Royal Mail who admitted they sent it the wrong place in error but apparently 24track doesn’t mean it has to be there in 24hours!

Going forwards will ask companies if I can choose to pay for better delivery. It just costs too much to not.

@JBJ I am so sorry you had this episode of pain. It really does sound like gall bladder especially as triggered after eating. My friend had it and said FFFF
means Female, forties, fat/fat loss and family history (her mum had it).
It was high fat foods that triggered these episodes and she followed a gall bladder diet plan leading up to her surgery out of fear of the pain coming back. It must have been so scary for you on your own.
Hope you get sorted ASAP xx

I did my golden dose last night which feels uneasy. I use a syringe to draw it. I found it hurts more, maybe because I blunt the needle by piercing the pen seal or slightly bend it perhaps. Also worry I am injecting air though do hold it up, tap bubbles and squirt some. Means I get slightly under the 0.6ml dose I think.
i am 1 day late (intentional) for dose as know I am back from Paris a week today meaning whilst away the dose would be wearing off so decided to extend that time pre-trip.
Its meant my food choices not as good but partly because my house all ill so lots of bread and biscuits about.

Really looking forward to the trip. My weight loss on Thursday showed 0.5kg but weighing since I’m holding above that. Maybe all the bread or pre-period weight but annoyed all the same.

In NSV news, I went to buy some new jeans, got some from next which are a sort of jersey material but wide legged. I am an 18 but these are a 16 😍 I was so surprised. I would be happy overall with a size 14-16 in life as means you can buy most clothes in most places.

For the golden dose, I usually find there is more than a whole dose left in the pen as I try to only use one click to prime each time. I draw up whatever there is, tap it and then squirt it out until it is at the measurement I want (either the 0.6 or just over). Then inject. But yeah the needle is longer and blunter so it's not as comfortable as the usual needles.

Great NSV! Well done 👍

I’ve been looking at those jersey denim wide leg jeans at Next and was unsure what size to go for, so this has just helped me as I’m in an 18 now, so ordering a 16 in them 😀

Hi all. Had my second dose of Wegovy (1mg) yesterday and I’m just not getting the suppression. Anyone else feel like this? I feel like I should have been put in a higher dose of MJ anyway before the whole Wegovy switch debacle. I was on MJ 10. It’s so frustrating and I feel nervous! Also like I’ve wasted money.

I’ve got a blood test tomorrow and a scan on the 20th, so not too long to wait thankfully. Just worried about driving to and from our holiday this coming week in case it starts hurting again whilst I’m driving or just miles away from home.

I hope you get some answers soon. I got a scan quite quickly, but then it was 11 months before a consultant appointment to get put on a waiting list, let alone then have surgery. In the end, my mum paid for me to have it removed privately.

The op was supposed to be about an hour, but took 4.5hours and according to the consultant was one of the worst gallbladders he'd seen - so I'm not sure waiting so long would have done me much good.

The episodes were often a few weeks or even a couple of months apart. For some people it can be triggered by what you eat, so keeping a diary of when the pain happens and what you've eaten that day might be helpful. Fatty foods are usually the trigger - though there wasn't an obvious one with me.

I'm down 3st 2.5lbs with 1stone 4.5lbs attributed to Mounjaro and the rest to Slimming World.

I'm taking the 'Golden dose' as its £283.00 now for the 10mg and nearly everyone i speak to are doing the same.

I'm hoping to get a new freelance contract soon as I've been out of work since my last contract finished in Sept and when I do I will stick to Mounjaro - the last one I put on my 0% credit card! Otherwise it will be Wegovy.😬

Good luck everyone - keep up the good work!
