Creating this in advance, as the old thread is suddenly moving quickly due to recent events. No matter what challenges lie ahead we are still making amazing progress - so let’s keep supporting one another along the way as we approach 4 months ‘on the pen’.

Hello all,

Another poorly camper here.

Have had a tummy ache and felt nauseous all day. No-one else is poorly and I've had several random days like this over the course of MJ. There's never been any rhyme or reason to it and it usually passes after 24h. I've had my travel sickness bands on most of day though!

Thankfully I WFH but typically tomorrow and Friday I've got various things on (school visit with DC2, extra tuition with DC3 and a hospital blood test plus usual clubs etc) so I dont want to be poorly.

Hoping an early night sorts me out.

Well done on the losses and NSV and sorry to anyone else feeling poorly.

wlinewbie0425 · 01/10/2025 22:30

Hi all I started to reply earlier then got distracted and it’s not saved argh!

Wed weigh in for me is same as last week another 0.4lb. I am resigned now to this being a slow crawl to the finish line. Resetting my expectations and hoping for goal by Christmas.

Sorry to hears about you all feeling poorly @Crunchymum@Zebracat @PumpKimand hope it passes soon.

Well done on your 3 stone @violetmondays🥳

@coventreeit’s all about the bigger picture now - I had a gain week not long ago, it will head back in the right direction.

those with ‘slow’ losses you are all doing amazing at the pace that works for your body and lifestyle. @slightlysmallerPoisonIvysaid it best and I think we should all re read her wise words at the times when we are too self critical about our progress.

@cannyvalleyI chanced it and used a family member’s code they had already used before end of day yesterday bundled with my credit that’s been sitting there - it only worked! Remains to be seen if I get past clinical review but gave it a go. Thanks for inspiring me to look yesterday.

Great losses @wlinewbie0425 @violetmondays and anyone else I missed

Hope you feel better soon @Crunchymum @PumpKim @Zebracat

Hope the 7.5 helps @Coventree , that lb is probably poop and will be gone in no time!

dozywelshbird · 02/10/2025 08:37

fantastic losses everyone, can't believe so many of you are so close to goal already 😁

like @GoGoGovy @PumpKim and @PeachSnail I am also a member of the plodder gang, just over 2 stones for me too.

Weirdly, I have also been poorly with a stomach type thing all yesterday, just felt nauseous all day, only had some soup and bread and was in bed by 9pm, woken today feeling okay, fingers crossed its passed. Hope others feel better soon

Zebracat · 02/10/2025 16:11

i am better now. We are going for our meal tonight. I will be really careful not to have too much . Had a cafe lunch today, I had half a bowl of broccoli soup,
left the croutons and the bread roll, so I’m confident I can steer sensibly tonight. That bout of diary may have been the reset I needed!

Zebracat · 02/10/2025 16:12

Diarrhoea ffs☺️

Coffeeandallthebooks · 02/10/2025 19:43

I think this thread can sadly be a diary of diarrhoea for us all from time to time @Zebracat 😂. I am glad you feel better and hope you navigate tonight successfully.
I'm sorry everyone has been unwell, my poor DD has been throwing up this week but she's getting better now, I hope everyone else is improving too.

I lost 2lbs this week so I'm very pleased with that. It still feels really surreal that I'm thinking about new clothes for Christmas, but as that's in 3 months, they won't be in my current size. I definitely havent adjusted mentally yet!

Zebracat · 02/10/2025 21:46

Well the food was delicious, but I was sensible. I had pudding though, lemon tart, enjoyed every mouthful, but left the crust!

slightlysmallerPoisonIvy · 02/10/2025 22:17

Excellent loss @Coffeeandallthebooks !

Well done on staying sensible but still enjoying some treats @Zebracat

@dozywelshbird hope you feel better soon

Yesterday was the 1st of the month so I did measurements and progress pics last night. I was a bit disappointed tbh, no change despite losing 9.2lbs for the month. There was no change last month either. There was a big difference in the first three months though so I am smaller than when I started, just a bit frustrating that there's been nothing since. But I'll keep working on it and hopefully will eventually shrink some more inches.

wlinewbie0425 · 03/10/2025 04:54

Well done @slightlysmallerPoisonIvyover 9lbs in a months is a really good rate to be continuing at this stage. I know we are at different stages in our journey but I just checked and my whole month was under 3lb lost. With measurements I sometimes find they change when weight doesn’t and vice versa - I bet your inches change will come gradually to catch up with the pounds.

I keep insisting how fine I am with my slow rate and I am really, but by the same token, 3lb in a whole month makes me realise I need to change things up a bit. I genuinely don’t think im overeating (but I don’t count so might be deluding myself) but I did go back to work at start of September and been doing 60+ hour weeks sat at a desk so I think it’s that, I barely move. Cheered myself up by thinking how much weight I would have gained this month if I didn’t have the power of Mounjaro keeping me on track. I need to build more movement into my day and I know it’s making excuses but not sure I have the capacity right now between work and family/caring commitments.

glad to hear you enjoyed your evening after all the ‘diary’ @Zebracat - can we call it that now as I can never spell it anyway?

Yay for 2 stone club @dozywelshbird

Happy Friday everyone. As we move towards our 6 month anniversary on this journey - how it is not even 6 months yet?!

OP posts:
Crunchymum · 03/10/2025 06:23

Friday weigh-in and I'm -1.5lbs down this week.

Pretty pleased with that as despite feeling poorly the past few days I'd eaten more than I should have over the weekend so half expected a gain.

I keep thinking I've lost 3st in 6 months but realistically it's closer to 5 months 😲 which is insane.

I still can't believe it. 1st 4lbs to GW for me. Its close than I can imagine. Although I expect it take a good 3 months to get there.

PeachSnail · 03/10/2025 09:21

Argh... Had a blood test yesterday to test for how my prediabetes is doing. Haven't had the results back for that yet, but just got a text to say I still have elevated cholesterol. FFS!

Apparently you can have elevated cholesterol if you don't do enough exercise, you eat too much fatty food, by being overweight, smoking or by drinking too much alcohol... I exercise 4 times a week, don't eat loads of fatty food, am now a healthy BMI and am a non-smoker. Maybe I'm still consuming too much alcohol? Though I try not to drink during the week (not always successfully!) and just stick to weekends.

Feeling a bit deflated as I was hoping to have really improved my health... I guess I'll need to try to cut out fat where I can and further reduce alcohol 🥺

Merlin23 · 03/10/2025 09:41

Weigh in day!
2 lbs down
SW 202lbs 14st 6lbs
CW 145lbs 10st 5lbs
Target 130-140lbs 135lbs is healthy
I've hit the 4st lost. I am so happy I never thought I would get this low I was hoping to lose 3st as last time I lost weight my body refused to go this low.
Well done everyone.
We are all getting healthier everyday however fast or slow our losses are.
Have a great weekend everyone!

AbundanceofKatherines · 03/10/2025 10:46

Hello lovelies 👋

@slightlysmallerPoisonIvy- that’s a great loss in a month. I have just checked my September stats and I lost 5lbs. Are you definitely measuring consistently? I find it hard and my mind plays tricks on me - am I holding it tighter than last time? Am I breathing out more? Now I just suck and pull everything in as tight as possible and go with that - it wouldn’t be a comfortable measurement, but it has to be consistent if it can’t get any tighter, right?

@PeachSnail- that is disappointing about the cholesterol 😔 . I had a friend at work, many, many years ago, who was slim as a reed, extremely fit and active, ate healthily and barely drank but who had high cholesterol - apparently it was genetic. Perhaps you could ask your GP to refer you to a specialist?

I am in my early 60s and have had no tests done for a good 10 years - once I hit goal I shall ask for a health check. I thought I’d be offered one at 60, as I was at 50 and 40, but no. Is this not a thing these days?

Weigh in day for me - having missed last week due to various commitments - and I’ve lost 2lbs in 2 weeks. That’s fine, I’m nearing the end of my journey now so slow and steady will get me there.

SW 12st 7.5 BMI 31
CW 9st 8.5 (c’mon 3st!). BMI 23.7
GW ? Maybe 9st (although in the 8s would be nice)

I am currently taking 6mg from a 7.5mg pen - have probably 3+ doses left if I “golden dose”. I have a 5mg pen in the fridge and will probably order one last one. Hoping to get to goal using the last of the 7.5 and the 5 in the fridge (tapering down if possible) and then save the final 5mg pen for January, if needed. I feel pretty confident today.

I am loving being slim(ish) again - I feel amazing and look soooooooo much better! Keep catching sight of myself in mirrors and windows and actually like what I see! Love choosing what to wear thinking “what’ll look nice” rather than wondering how best to hide my body and feel comfortable (I always feel comfortable now). Life is good!

Have super weekends all.

xx

violetmondays · 03/10/2025 12:28

Glad you're feeling better @Zebracat
Congrats on all the losses and NSVs. @PeachSnail sorry about the cholesterol result, I have a feeling I will be the same with that as I remember having elevated cholesterol when I weighed 8.5 stone and very slim. I do eat a lot of cheese though and wonder if that's to blame.

Such a lovely positive post @AbundanceofKatherines I feel the same and do look in the mirror a lot more often these days after years of avoiding my own reflection! I also feel so much more confident, now welcoming invitations to social events rather than avoiding seeing people. Sounds silly but my weight gain effected me a lot and I feel like I can start living again now.

It's my 50th birthday this month. I really wasn't looking forward to it tbh, all I could think of was being 'fifty and fat'. I didn't want to celebrate it and wanted avoid any attention. Fast forward a few months and I have now just ordered a very fancy new dress (hope it fits!) and now looking forward to all the plans and celebrations I have coming up.

Friday weigh-in and jab day:

SW: 13.3 (13.9 when I ordered MJ and a BMI of nearly 31)
CW: 10.2
GW: 10 st
Total lost: 3 stone 1lb

Lost 1.3lb this week which is great considering I drank more wine than usual and ate bread a couple of times which I have been avoiding really since I started MJ.

Have lovely weekends all!

slightlysmallerPoisonIvy · 03/10/2025 18:40

Excellent losses @Crunchymum @Merlin23 @AbundanceofKatherines @violetmondays well done everyone!

@PeachSnail I think it feels like we've been doing this for such a long time but really 5 months is not that long at all and it takes time to see significant changes in things like blood test results (I actually don't know about the speed of cholesterol changes, I'm just basing that on how slooowly my vit d and iron levels are increasing) it sounds like you are doing all the right things so it will improve if you stay consistent. Fingers crossed for your prediabetes results!

@violetmondays Happy 50th Birthday for later in the month, yay for pretty new dresses! hope you have loads of fun!

@AbundanceofKatherines That is so lovely to read and makes me so happy to know you are feeling good about yourself! Catching those unexpected glimpses certainly hits differently these days!

@wlinewbie0425 I don't know how you can find the time to exercise and parent and do all the things on top of working over 60hours a week! Do you sleep?!

Hmm thinking now about measurements maybe I'm doing it wrong. I measure everything as is while naked and don't suck or squish anything in to try to get the measurement as low as possible. I use a bluetooth retractable body measurement tape and it stops by itself but if I used a manual one I could definitely pull it much tighter. I am feeling emptier and lighter and squishier so I expect the measurements and photos will catch up eventually.

How does everyone else do measurements? Do you pull the tape as tight as you can? do you measure while wearing tight compression workout clothes? or do you measure everything as is?

PumpKim · 03/10/2025 20:15

@wlinewbie0425 I could have written your last post myself! Was literally just running through those thoughts and decided to check in and there was your post. In all honesty I'm feeling down about the slow progress, so I need to figure out what else I can do. I mean obviously I need to eat less and move more, it's as simple as that right?
Joking aside, extra calories must be getting in, otherwise I would be losing more, that's just a fact so I'm going to track properly rather than winging it. I feel like I don't eat much but I'm struggling with real food and only seem to want small crappy snacks so that has to stop. I also need to get off my bum and exercise, and find a way to fit that in that I can stick to.
Gosh! Who said MJ is the easy option, this is still hard 🤪

SW 17.7
CW 14.0
WK 23? Loss 1lb
Total Loss 3st 7lb

I’ve weighed in/jabbed a day early as we are going to Portugal in the morning for 5 days (can’t wait for a last bit of sunshine!!)
I’m chuffed I got the 3 and 1/2 stone before we go although I normally gain 3-4lb whilst away - plane gain 😜 (it comes off within a week of being home!!!)
I’m still on the 3.75 dose and I’m hoping to stick with that for the last stone and a half!! Any lower than that I just cannot maintain and I’m really happy at that weight (even though officially I’d still be ‘overweight’) I got down to 10 & 1/2 stone about 20+ years ago and I looked ill!!!!! I’m a big boned big boobed lass as they say!!!! 🤣
Well done everyone on the NSV’s and weight losses!!! Have a fab week!!!

StartingApril2025 · 03/10/2025 22:58

@PeachSnail just a quick message re the cholesterol. Mine was extremely high when we started this journey and now is almost in the highest range of normal, not there yet and still high in comparison to many. I do have a genetic link for high cholesterol in my family, my stick thin siblings also have it and parents. However one thing Iv been doing is taking a plant stenol supplement as recommended by a dietitian friend and also trying to eat good fats to get the good cholesterol up as that eats away the bad cholesterol. If you ask chat gpt for a list of good fats you may get some ideas of things to encorporate in. Was it your total cholesterol reading high or the ratio ? I would recommend a go at the plant sterols too. My good cholesterol is still too low but hoping this improves. I hope you do find some improvements. GP said for lots of people diet won’t help a significant amount as genetic link still tbere but we can only try our best. Hope you are feeling ok about it!

PeachSnail · 04/10/2025 07:41

Thanks so much @StartingApril2025@slightlysmallerPoisonIvy@violetmondaysand @AbundanceofKatherines for your wise counsel about cholesterol... I appreciate all the thoughts and advice 🙏

After doing a bit of digging into my exact results (only just discovered you can do this on the NHS app!) it seems like I'm only just over the threshold to be classified as 'abnormal'. My total cholesterol reading is 5.1 and you need to be 5 or lower to be classified as 'healthy'... Plus my LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) reads as 3.2, where you need to be 3 or lower to be 'healthy'... So those numbers are somewhat reassuring and hopefully they'll continue to reduce as I continue to lose weight. 🤞🤞🤞

I feel like it's pretty crappy of the NHS to just send me a blunt, standardised text saying your cholesterol levels are raised, with no specifics and no further advice from an HCP... But I guess that's how they try to make the service more efficient these days?

I do think there may be a genetic component as both my parents were on statins. I'll look into the plant sterols @StartingApril2025 - sounds like that could just give my levels a boost in the right direction 💪
