Creating this in advance, as the old thread is suddenly moving quickly due to recent events. No matter what challenges lie ahead we are still making amazing progress - so let’s keep supporting one another along the way as we approach 4 months ‘on the pen’.

@Merlin23 I didn’t eat the starter, just a padron pepper and a tomato. I had a tiny helping of salmon and a spoonful of potato, and too many beans. Then a small helping of summer pudding. I am really suffering today though, it was more than I normally eat.

Bless you. Hope you're ok!
Work are organising Christmas meal out. Im just going to make my excuses. The thought of eating so little and paying out so much money. Isn't worth it.
Im looking forward to getting off mj so an evening out enjoying food very occasionally is doable.

Crunchymum · 21/09/2025 15:53

I'm in a bit of a pickle (I started a separate thread) but my pen jammed when I went to take my 2nd dose today.

It did eventually "work" after 3 needles but lots of liquid leaked out so I'm not sure how much - if any - I've administered today.

I've attached my other thread - https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5414463-urgent-help-my-pen-has-jammed?reply=147296546

If anyone has any advice, much appreciated 🙏

Just had a chance to catch up. Well done to everyone on the losses and NSVs! Too many to mention!

I’d lost 2lb on Wednesday but went to Paris for our 10th wedding anniversary this weekend with no kids and have eaten so much! Not as much as I would have previously but still 🙈. Feeling a bit down as everyone else seems to be rapidly shrinking and I don’t feel like I have gone down any sizes at all despite losing over 2 stone. My belly still feels huge and I think if anything my boobs are smaller which makes it worse! I’ve also been so busy and away a lot over summer. Hoping to knuckle down and make sure I’m in deficit for the next few months now.

@toobusytoclean just wanted to say I get it with feeling a bit meh with the whole thing.

@Crunchymum how is your suppression? I managed to move and the needle came out 2 weeks ago so don’t get a full jab but felt like a little liquid looks like a lot on the outside if that makes sense as I still felt the effects.

Happy anniversary to you.

Paris sounds fab - I'd be upset to go to Paris and not be able to enjoy the food.

I too didn't feel like 2st made much difference but it was around this stage people started noticing and my knickers got looser. I still wear a lot of my previous (size 18) clothing and I'm nearly 3st down now. I had a lot of elasticated stuff.

It's coming so hold tight. You have lost 2st and its definitely gone from somewhere.

I only injected at midday and don't usually got immediate suppression so no idea if I got a partial or full dose. Definitely can't be a full dose given how much leaked?

Hoping my prescriber can help as I can't afford to lose possibly 3 doses.

wlinewbie0425 · 21/09/2025 16:44

oh no @Crunchymum I saw your other thread earlier but didn’t notice it was you and others had already replied.

the photo looks like the red seal is bulging out yes? I once had a stupid mishap when I rushed and didn’t prime properly, pen plunger wouldn’t depress and I saw it look like that when I took off the needle. I already had syringes at that time so rather than trust the pen again I took that dose and the final one a week later just using syringes. They are a good back up in case of issues with the pen mechanism.

I really hope you can get it replaced but wouldn’t hold my breath for the supplier to agree. If there are still a couple of doses in there - if it were me (not proper medical advice just what I would do) and the red seal isn’t visibly blown, I would store the pen vertical, with the red seal up, under the cap so nothing leaks, and do the remaining doses with a syringe. Not moving the clicks at all. It sounds from your post like you’ve not used syringes before, the UK medi ones someone linked for you are safe and sterile and you should be able to get delivered in plenty time for next week. You can’t store MJ in the syringes it needs to stay in that pen until you are injecting.

given that you don’t know how much was injected it’s probably wiser to ride out this week, or if you really feel it’s not working take the next dose 2-3 days early but don’t take any more any sooner as you might have had more than you think.

However my suggestion is just what I would do if can’t get a replacement, definitely pursue that first reporting faulty pen, and be calm and clear that you’ve used this for over 20 weeks and know what you are doing so it has to be pen not user fault.

Thank you for you calming words @wlinewbie0425 I must admit I had a complete meltdown this morning.

It looks like the seal has now blown. Urgh!!!

At least I've had some of this weeks dose I guess and I can then decide what to do having a week to play with.

I am guessing the seal breaking means the medication is compromised?

in my (again not expert) opinion yes I would be pretty sure that’s not ok as the red seal is ‘self sealing’ after each needle entry to prevent microbes entering and that’s got visible damage 😩 so sorry and I hope your provider are decent and replace.

Morning all 🌅

Happy Monday!

Weigh day check-in

SW 87.65kg
CW 74.3kg
GW 65kg

So that's a loss of 0.7kg from last Monday, or 0.3kg from last Tuesday (as I did a sneaky weigh-in last week!)

Well, I'm definitely a slow loser... But it's all heading in the right direction and I'm just really pleased to feel healthier and happier. It is honestly such a relief after years of feeling stuck with hating myself and my weight 🥲

I actually started losing weight in January after having tipped over into being obese and being diagnosed as prediabetic. My earliest records show I was 90.5kg in January. So in total I've lost 16.2kg (2 stone 7lbs) 🙌

I started taking MJ in April after my weight went up after I'd been losing for a few months. I was just not prepared to let this weight loss get away from me as it was too important! So many other attempts had stalled and I just wanted it to finally work!

So pleased I took that decision... I don't think I would have made it this far under my own steam.

Anyway, while the losses are definitely slowing now, I just wanted to reflect on my overall achievement since the start of the year. It all adds up. It all keeps going in the right direction 💪 📉

BudgieMom · 22/09/2025 10:02

Well done everyone on your great losses and nsvs! Week 22 weigh in and its 2lb off today 😁 that's 2st 9lb on MJ and 4st 12lbs in total! Going on holiday in 2 weeks so would like another 2lbs by then to take it to a round 5st. Hope everyone has a great week keep up the hard work 😊

Banana34 · 22/09/2025 13:55

SW - 126.9kg

I have an nsv. Tried on dhs jeans and they fit! Hurrah. He’s a 34, so I think that’s about a 16. My Goodness, the pockets in men’s jeans! Huge.
Still suffering from the Saturday night dinner. I don’t think I’ve ever had flatulence before. Course I’ve farted sometimes, but this is a lot and it brings no relief. I didn’t eat that much more than usual, but it was later , richer and I had pudding. When will it end?

cannyvalley · 22/09/2025 15:29

Hi all, lovely NSV’s and some less lovely farting tales from @Zebracat…. If it helps I lay on my tummy on the floor for half an hour when I feel bloated and need a good fart, works for me …

Ive taken the telling off about my low food intake to heart , and have eaten lunch today! A protein shake with a banana and some peanut butter chucked in, defo better than nothing and just slurped it as I was driving. Maybe liquid lunch is the key for me? I would say I’d prefer a cocktail… but I barely drink these days …. Cocktail hour at work would pass the day more pleasantly though!

Merlin23 · 22/09/2025 15:33

I am always bloated from Friday until Monday, I jab on a Thursday evening.
Hot water bottle helps.

AbundanceofKatherines · 22/09/2025 21:21

@Crunchymum- great update on the other thread! Hoping you get it all sorted x

AbundanceofKatherines · 22/09/2025 21:22

And @Banana34- well done! x

GoGoGovy · 23/09/2025 07:11

Morning. Cold, isn’t it?

Weigh in Tuesday. Disappointing loss this week. In fact after the huge post holiday loss off 4lbs, no real change on the scales. Perhaps this is my natural weight. I don’t know whether to continue titrating down, as planned, or up my dosage for the next month, to see if I can get to goal (bmi around 24).

Anyway, I’m off to look at the M&S Christmas food catalog, that was released today 😀

slightlysmallerPoisonIvy · 23/09/2025 15:59

Well done on all the great losses!

Is anyone else freezing?! I usually love this time of year with the weather cooling down. I don't feel the cold until it's freezing temps outside and the winter duvet doesn't go on my bed till December, but last night I was so cold I had to get up and get a hot water bottle and today I'm wearing a scarf at my desk. It's September?!?! I'm suddenly not looking forward to doing winter with less layers of fat insulation and less hot food keeping my insides warm this year!

GoGoGovy · 23/09/2025 17:52

@slightlysmallerPoisonIvy yes, I’m also freezing. Actually wore pj’s last night for the first time in years. Might have dig out my ancient fleece onesie (think Julia’s onesie in Motherland 😀) in the next couple of days.

Coventree · 23/09/2025 17:57

I agree it’s freezing! We’ve lost our ‘chip fat’ coats (Kaiser Chiefs) 😂

Hope everyone’s ups and downs are doing okay xx

Crunchymum · 23/09/2025 19:09

Another cold one here. I'm starting to worry how I'm going to manage if I'm this cold already (I had to put the heating on this morning!!)

We have an old, draughty house but I've never needed the heating on this early before. I've also been wearing fingerless gloves to read the past few nights and fluffy socks to bed.

cannyvalley · 23/09/2025 19:15

I’m SO COLD!!! Just got in from work and am going to soak myself in a hot bath to try and defrost. Defo missing my chip fat coat….

BeachBodyAim · 23/09/2025 21:24

Bloody freezing!!!! I’ve sat with a blanket over me the last few nights and slept with socks on - usually reserved for the cold cold 🥶 nights of winter!!!!!! But no one else in the house is cold at all!!!!

slightlysmallerPoisonIvy · 23/09/2025 22:19

chip fat coat!😂😂😂

Coventree · 24/09/2025 07:57

Wednesday weigh-in - a fantastic 3lbs lost this week 🎉🎉🎉

That makes 52lbs (3st 10lbs) lost in total 😮, with 1st 3lbs left to go to get to healthy bmi…c’mon! 💪
