Happy 1st birthday to us all - somewhere in this month we gathered our courage and started what would be a memorable journey for us all - made some hopefully forever friends

Gather round my little auggies 😍 and we are all doing amazingly so be proud of yourselves

the amount of weight per person lost varies from 1-2stone - 3-4 - 5-6 - 7+

in a year or for some 11-11.5mths - I was middle of August - we have totally changed our body shape - reduced our bmi and weight and hopefully improved our health

some are at goal - and working out how to maintain

some nearing it

some still have weight they want to lose

Some have stopped for cost / various reasons and blowing baby dust your way to those who are ttc

but ALL of us have lost weight and I love the fact we are all so supportive to each other over weight and our general day to day lives

maybe if brave - post your before and after pics to see how far we have come in a year

And thank you for your really thoughtful post @Weepixie. It all makes sense. I weigh myself every day - decided to do this a while back - and it works for me.

Motnight · 15/08/2025 09:03

I am worried about the price increase. Trying not to be though. Considering lowering my dose from 15 to 12.5. I can afford it. But so many women (and I am sure that it is mostly women) won't be able to.

If you read all the posts on this thread and others, MJ has changed people's lives and as a result the lives of their loved ones as well. It seems particularly cruel that some of us have found a tool to help us fight obesity and it's going to become out of reach again.

Need to dust myself off and carry on! Will probably stay away from many of the MN threads today as am expecting a lot of 'what did you expect' type posts from some.

Azuresky68 · 15/08/2025 09:06

@Weepixie thanks for your last post..really helpful. I am going to do what you are doing too as my weight today is nearly the same from 2 weeks ago.
Today's weight 121.7 pounds just over 8 stone 9 or i could say almost 8 stone 10 or 8 stone 9 and three quarters.
Two weeks ago it was 121.4 pounds
Sorry for too much detail!

Weepixie · 15/08/2025 09:14

Hi. Motnight, thank you so much for your good wishes. 💐

It’s been great to hear you weigh yourself every day. - do you notice any patttern in your ups and downs? Something like ok, the scales have increased to that today but that means theyll show a loss in two days?

And regarding the price increase, I’ve just realised why it’s upset me so much. I was so excited about my anniversary, it was like waiting for my birthday as a child and when the news was breaking yesterday there were suddenly all these women (probably some men as well) who’s lives/dreams were crashing down around the majority of them, and I realised they will more than likely never get to where I am today. It was like being punched. Their reality hit home to me and it’s just awful for them.

I really do hope you find a way to stay on Mounjaro. Xxx

theres no such thing xxx

FurForksSake · 15/08/2025 10:35

@Weepixiethat plan is so thorough and sensible, thank you for sharing it.

you are so right about feeling sad for the people now priced out, I feel so grateful and fortunate to have started when I did and to have had a he opportunities that it has afforded me.

the unpleasant posts on the other thread have really got to me, so many see WLI as being lazy or cheating. When I was big I always felt people thought I was lazy and greedy and turns out they still do!

well done everyone on the anniversaries, I’m sorry the shine has been taken off.

FurForksSake · 15/08/2025 10:37

Today is my jab day; but I’ve decided I will jab tomorrow and move to 8 days between jabs. I’d ideally like to lose another 5lbs, but I’m basically maintaining now. If I can push out to jabbing every 8-10 days and then reducing the amount that will be my own taper plan. I don’t worry too much about using the pens for longer and things, that’s fine and if they lose some potency then that’s ok, I need to build some willpower muscle! And confidence.

has anyone had a break from the jabs? I’ve seen people talk about taking a week off now and then, is there any good reason to do so?

Yes, I'm planning on leaving it longer between jabs, working up to 10 days maybe, and using the fifth dose of course, in an effort to offset some of the price increase. It will be interesting to see if the potency decreases noticably after 30 days of an open pen.

Very important to be scrupulous with hygiene if using the pen over 30 days.

I'm also feeling guilty this morning, and terribly sad for those just starting this journey only to have the rug pulled out from under their feet.

We are so lucky to have started a year ago. I wouldn't even have considered it at the new prices. But we have a few options open to us. Hope nobody is feeling too down.

FurForksSake · 15/08/2025 11:19

It’s tough, because actually I think I would have started as the lower doses aren’t rising as sharply. I’d have stayed on doses a lot longer and tried not to increase beyond 7.5. But it would have been a much bigger decision. I can see how many, many people are now priced out.

WorriedRelative · 15/08/2025 11:27

Weepixie · 15/08/2025 08:50

Hi Worried, and thank you. ❤️

I well understand your frustration, it’s blooming disheartening. But I now have a plan put in place by my GP son in law who has a special interest in health/fitness/preventative medicine, and my PT.

For starters I have to weigh myself morning and night for two weeks then take an average of the figures which will then classed as my weight. Then the aim once I have that baseline number is for that number to go down ever week or every couple of weeks. I have to ignore what the scales are saying daily as seemingly you’re weight can fluctuate by as much as 5% daily due to one thing or another. I didn’t know it was that much which could account for the 1.5kgs I can have gained some mornings.

Ive also been asked to consider that what I’ve called a stall isn’t actually a stall due to anything other than me finely balancing my calories in and calories out to the extent there’s no deficit even though I’ve thought there was - it’s nigh on impossible seemingly to calorie count accurately unless your doing it in a lab. So where as we think we’ve had x amount per day - we could easily have had more.

Then there’s what the summer does to a persons activity level here - going out is unpleasant so even though I excercise 4-5 days a week I may just not be busy enough to get the scales moving.

So, I’m going to be weighing to get my average. Dropping my calories to 1250 because I will for sure be eating more than that without realising. Doing this will mean I’ll be less likely to be fine tuning my input/output to the extent I have. And last but not least - I’m to start going out every day instead of only going out a couple of times a week because of the heat - and that includes doing my own shopping instead of getting a delivery because even wandering round the mall before going round the supermarket will help with ensuring I am actually in a calorie deficit instead of just thinking in good faith that I am.

Its all things that I knew ( except the average weight) and I’m starting it today, oh and today is seemingly the start of phase 2 of my mounjaro and to date, I mustn’t forget this seemingly, I’ve achieved 99 percent of what I’d set out to do.

I was feeling so despondent this morning, the price change really upset me (more so for others than myself as I can cover it) and my mood just tumbled. But I’ve picked myself up again and I have my new source in place already - I know for sure it will now be cheaper to get my pen here than the UK so I’ve not wasted anytime organising it. I also know now that I can’t take on the hurt of others who may now have to stop Mounjaro. That I can feel very sorry and sad they’ll have to, but I then have to put it someplace that isn’t in my heart. That last bit doesn’t sit well with me though, it feels way too much like ‘I’m alright Jack’ for my liking 🙈

You know, we talk about plateaus and stalls but it’s just been explained to me that we don’t actually have to look for a big reason for a stall, that the majority of the time they’re actually caused by very small reasons.

Im hoping this post might be of help to people but if not, it’s still from me to all of you with love.

Worried - do you fancy trying the weight thing I mentioned? We can give it a go together if you like.

Hi Weepixie!

I already weigh daily, and it does help, I can see that it isn't a real gain it is water/big meal/constipation etc. The losses have really slowed though.

The Samsung health app can average out weights too, and that shows the ongoing downwards trajectory but this is the flattest month yet.

I had been thinking I would use my 12.5 pen then do a 15 to try and shift that last bit but as I haven't managed to buy one and given the prices I am rethinking.

I think I will try to be stricter and do it without moving up. I'll focus a bit more on water and protein and reducing carbs. I could try and fit in more exercise too.

I managed to get some 10mg so have supply at current prices, I could take 12.5 a 10mg if I haven't made it to goal or start tapering.

My original plan had been to taper slowly with a view to maybe coming off around the second anniversary in the hope that's allowed a new set point to establish. I might try to move down more quickly if the prices are going to be as high as they say.

MissFancyDay · 15/08/2025 11:28

Yes, I remember getting my 2.5mg at way under £100 and thinking this is doable, I just didn't let myself think about the price of the higher doses. So maybe I would start, who knows.

Looking back though, I regret going up from 10mg to 12.5mg, my present dose. It didn't feel as effective. I wish I'd stayed on 10mg but I'm scared to go back.

WorriedRelative · 15/08/2025 11:28

@WeepixieI forgot to ask, what is the reason for evening weighing? Surely that will be unrealistically high due to food and drink consumed?

WorriedRelative · 15/08/2025 11:30

Stretching to 8 days is a good idea! I have done that a few times due to holidays or travel and have never really noticed a difference

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/08/2025 13:08

WJ no weigh as still away

sure I have gained due to what I’ve eaten but guess see what happens next Fri

I’ve said before I’m happy to decrease but then Feel the aches much more

God I can’t believe it’s been a year!! 5 stone exactly down and 6lbs to go. My initial target was 11st7lb but moved to 11st when I reached it to give me a buffer…….I’ve gone from an 18 to a 12……..don’t think I’ll ever be in a 10 but that’s okay. Don’t have any real full length body shots as brain hasn’t caught up with change and still quite self conscious but getting there!!! Everyone has done so amazingly well and we’re a long way past those first couple of weeks of feeling our goals were sooooo far away!!! 😍😍😍😍

Redlightbulb · 15/08/2025 13:58

This is so upsetting.
My provider (Medicine Market Place) are now £271 for a 15mg pen. They were £145 before so that is a £126 increase.
I am lucky that I have enough confirmed doses to take me up to the New Year.
Shamelessly I have 5 pens on order. 2 of which are approved awaiting despatch.
By a miracle I am hoping that they will all be honoured and that will hopefully take me up to middle of next year where I should be at goal or very close.
I might stretch the pens out by reducing the dose to 10mg.

poppym12 · 15/08/2025 14:28

Just pondering whether to try and order another 15 pen (even though I had one delivered on Wednesday). I'm thinking of using it to find my maintenance level after I've finished what's in the fridge. That means it'll probably go over the 30 days but I'm not too bothered about that. I am bothered about this spannner in the works at this stage.

People who are early on in their journey must be so angry.

Wonder if my supplier will let me order again already.......
ETA
Bugger it. There are currently -3 in stock. I shouldn't have procrastinated for so long.

MissFancyDay · 15/08/2025 14:30

I ordered my next pen yesterday morning (I needed it) I ordered another one in the afternoon. Both were approved.

I dithered too long. They've go no 12.5 either so I'm going to try and order a 10 which is better than nothing as I'll be working my way down soon anyway.

20bloodypounds · 15/08/2025 14:47

I ordered 2 x 2.5mg pens yesterday. I've still got a 5mg one to use so hopefully that will see me through. I am starting to spread my injections out and then would like to try one month on, one month off. That should make the price affordable, plus it would give me the chance to get used to having my appetite back, learn how to manage that, but give me the reassurance of 4 weeks on MJ should my weight start creeping up. Plus there are other health benefits.

@FurForksSake I had a 3 week holiday earlier this year. I jabbed before I went and then not again until I came back. I managed fine but it was an asian country with lots of vegetarian food - no fizzy drinks or fast food - plus I didn't have much alcohol. I found that in general my appetite remained smaller than before, plus I've learned what a smaller portion size looks like.

I read quite a few posts about the price rise yesterday and I noticed several people mentioning that they plan to take smaller doses from their existing pens, rather than buy pens at a smaller dose.

lookathatbookcase · 15/08/2025 15:42

God, this is all so rough - same as everyone else here, feel very 'lucky' that I started when I did, and have also stayed on a low dose. But also so angry - I think I mentioned, but every medical professional I've seen in the past year has been pleased with my progress, and how MJ has helped with blood pressure, etc etc, and it seems so short-sighted to make such an incredible medical tool even harder to access. Ugh.

Weepixie · 15/08/2025 16:12

@Redlightbulb that should actually be illegal and this may sound absolutely bonkers but during wars people are shot for profiteering. Not that I’m asking for anyone to be shot but what your supplier has done is immoral and trading standards should be involved.

All the very best going forward - you’ve got a plan so you’re almost at the finish line already.

Edited

Think I worded my previous post a bit wrong. My latest provider Medicine Market place only allow the 1 but some of the pens I ordered were with different providers. I have moved around quite a bit recently.
One supplier allowed you to order 3 pens at once & they have now been dispatched.
All pens have now been dispatched bar 1.
I am sure I am not the only one who has done this.
Some pharmacies have been encouraging bulk buying.. I think Oushk & Cloud Pharmacy were also letting people order 3 at a time.
Thank you for the well wishes.

Weepixie · 15/08/2025 16:27

I have been trying to contact my supplier since yesterday, a good few hours before the news of the increase. I then contacted them again today about the increase and asked would they guarantee my next pen which is being dispatched on the 27th will be at the current rate. Again no reply.

I also phoned them - the phone ring out then went staring to a full mailbox with the message - pls email us with your query.

It was very obvious they’d gone to ground as they’re usually so on the ball when replying and yes, I know there busy but other suppliers have managed to address the increase with their customers and in my mind - ignoring your emails and phone calls till you have a plan isn’t acceptable.

Anyway I sent another email and said - unless you answer my emails, and guarantee me my next pen at the rate I’ve paid from last year I don’t want it. Yes I’ll have to buy a pen from here but I’m okay with that because it will still be cheaper than the new price you have to charge. Lo and behold my emails were answered about 15 minutes later and they apologised for what I called their unprofessionalism and lack of pro activity when all around them other suppliers had been on the ball since yesterday afternoon, even just an hour after the news had broke.

As it is I’m not aware of what it would cost me to stay with this supplier but I can kind of work it out so even if I was the Queen Sheba I’d be moving to buying it from here, it will now be cheaper than the UK and every penny counts. I do feel bad to be deserting my supplier as all of this is going to have an effect on their livelihoods, my supplier is an independent pharmacy, but times are hard for all of us.
