Hi everyone. I'm new here. I had my first injection of Mounjaro (starting at 2.5) today. I feel worried that it won't work, but trying to stay positive. I have gradually gained weight over the last 20 years. I'm hoping it will support a healthier lifestyle and reduce chronic joint pain. I am currently 18 st.

Is there a weekly weigh-in/check-in thread? I want to hold myself accountable. If possible, is it alright to ask for someone who wants to connect like a pen pal to cheer each other on?

Good luck pal! I started in April at 96kg and am currently 74kg - 5kg more and I’ll be in healthy bmi territory. Be mindful of what you’re eating, try to incorporate some exercise too, and I hope it has a similar effect for you

Trust the process and remember 2.5mg is a dose just to get you used to the meds and lots of people don't lose until they go up a level.
Unfortunately as there are a whole brigade of people who did lose a lot quickly, this has become almost the expectation whereas if you read the info that comes with the medication I think a 20% loss over 6 months is actually the expected rate as per the manufacturer's research.

I started a year ago and am now maintaining after losing 65lbs. My bmi is 21 now. Skinny life is fantastic, don’t give up. Good luck

There are usually threads for each month starters. Think I saw the August thread had started already, but I hide them so can't link for you. It will say August in the thread title.

There are also long running >5st to lose and >10st to lose threads which those on longer journeys sometimes feel more at home on.

Thank you. Your stories give me hope. I was 54 kg 20 years ago. A serious injury made exercising very hard and sometimes impossible. I am going to have surgery which will likely reverse my injury (to some degree). The more weight I lose between now and the surgery date, the higher the success rate should be.

Stick with it and don't get disheartened if you don't respond immediately or are a slow loser. I started last November at BMI 35 and am now in the healthy range. I've learnt to just focus on my own progress and use my smart scales to track my loss and me360 to do body scans and then compare them do I can see it coming off. It's been incredible and I've just zipped up my first size 10 dress in 20 years!

Good luck!
There are so many people on it now. I've only heard of positive experiences.
Which company are you with?

I have found my starters group a wonderful supportive safe space to share my journey.
This is the new August 2025 group. Hope it helps.
