@olivietolivie I started the same weight as you and I have just made it to healthy weight. I am going to slow my weight loss down now and keep my dosage low. I did go up to 7.5 for a couple of weeks but I have settled at 5mg for now.
I know it's about money for you. I wonder if you are saving anything from less snacking fewer takeaways etc? I am definitely feeling it in the budget but have committed to the rest of the year. Will be pleased not to have to pay it next year.
I would be reluctant to stop cold turkey. I think MJ has been quite a miracle for me and I want to hold onto it 🤣
@DGonMJ 's tactic of a full cycle at each reduction of dose is a good one that I would not have thought of.
Peri means my cycles are not very predictable so not sure how that would work for me.

I am also a secret jabber. As the only adult in the house I haven't shared with anyone. I'm guessing it's not a secret though as my weight loss is very obvious 🤣
Thank you for talking about maintenance and money, it's important x

Thelittlestranger · 09/08/2025 09:01

This is great news to me re bras...going to look at that today. I have so many....

Congratulations @PenelopePerseveres on your BMI drop !

Enjoy the festival @Jins

Today is Jab day. Maintenance week 1 done - I have been very lax on nutrition in so much as more alcohol has crept in, and some cake in the evening. However meals have remained healthy, kept on with the collagen/protein and have not snacked much. Which has meant I've lost 3/4lb since last week, and 1.5lbs since I went on holiday, and my weight now starts with an 8 🤯

Week 1 maintenance: 8st 13 1/4lbs / 56kg.

I want to stay under 9stone 4 ideally. Otherwise clothes will start to get tight.

I can't do weights at the moment, due to my arm/shoulder so I've upped the running instead.

Enjoy your weekends!

olivietolivie · 09/08/2025 09:03

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts on stopping. I agree I have been saving money whilst jabbing but I suppose I am hopeful that my new habits will stick and I’ll continue to drink less and buy less snacks AND save money by not buying MJ. Now I’m a better weight and the weight loss has really, really slowed down it feels very expensive. I am really torn. I can afford to keep buying it but I also feel like at this weight I should be able to do it alone now and I have other things I want to put the money towards. I am a single parent and feel guilty continuing to spend this amount on myself when I’ve achieved the important goal of being healthier and being able to run and play with DC more easily.

myladyjane · 09/08/2025 09:09

Ohhhhh @PenelopePerseveres well done! That feels like a big milestone

@Jins have a smashing time

loving the bra talk - I haven’t lost loads on the old girls although it’s now starting to show a bit. I may look on vinted for some interim options actually.

I did a sneaky weigh in first thing in the hope of seeing my gain disappear. As tmi, I got a bit ‘backed up’ on hols which has now righted itself so had hoped that was it but it’s still there. Also my slightly higher bonus dose doesn’t seem to have done much which is a disappointment. For all I am being zen about an ultimate goal, I am desperate to get my bmi under 30 so it’s frustrating to still be about 10lb away. Water and protein, water and protein….

myladyjane · 09/08/2025 09:14

Also I keep meaning to share - turkey neck talk from a few weeks back. I seem to be having some success with a derma roller/micro needling and some face yoga. Looks like it’s tightening a bit. Got the derma roller from Amazon but it’s basically the same as the one Trinny has on her website, just a lot cheaper.

Zempy · 09/08/2025 09:18

@myladyjane please can you link the derma roller you bought?

PenelopePerseveres · 09/08/2025 10:02

@myladyjane I missed your post earlier about getting a bit stuck and not having much to give up/struggling to eat nutritious enough food.

Solidarity, it’s really tough. I’m completely bored with it even though I seem to have started moving again.

Even with this new downward trend my loss since 9th June is 9lb.

I’ve had a couple of absolutely rubbish food days this week. Dinner one evening was ⅔ of an Aldi individual serving of dauphinois and half a tin of Waitrose baked beans. I’m not fond of either tbh but was home alone and couldn’t be bothered to cook or think. 😑

DGonMJ · 09/08/2025 10:15

Oh I keep reading about microneedling! But, despite being a weekly jabber, I don’t think I’m ready to puncture my face on a regular basis! However, this morning I have just ordered my first retinal cream at the grand old age of 47. I think it’s time, the smile crinkles on my upper cheeks have really deepened since the weight loss, but also I think it’s my age.

2025istheyeari · 09/08/2025 11:01

@PenelopePerseveres that’s fantastic, well done!!

@Zempy well done on reaching your first goal too! hope you’re having a fabulous time away.

@olivietolivie amazing loss, congratulations!

@Polkadotdash i know I’m late but I’m a fan of soup too when I can’t eat, easy to eat and nutritious, hope you’re finding things a bit easier today and that your recovery is going well.

Everyone else, enjoy your weekends, festivals etc!

Weigh and jab day for me after 6 days in Portugal. I chose well mostly, fish and salads. I did have a couple of pastel de natas and cocktails but I counted them so I knew exactly how many calories I had each day ( well to the extent that my fitness pal had them!!). I swam for at least half an hour-40 minutes each day and I’ve lost 1/2 pound which I’m v happy with!

sw 16 3 1/2
cw 11 1 1/2
gw 10 10?

bmi is 23.7, if I get to 10 10 it’ll be 22.7, I’ve never been that weight I don’t think! I’ve got my weight verification/ maintenance call with Oushk on Wednesday and going to ask for advice on the best way of titrating down, I’ve read on other threads their providers advising to stay on a higher dose but have it less regularly as that helps reset your set point but I have no idea how that works/ if it’s true so I’m going to ask. All the articles in the news about support for 12 months resonates with me so I have no plans to come off, just reduce my dose I think. I appreciate I’m lucky to be able to do this.

I’ll report back on what they say, off to figure out how I manage the height verification stuff!

2025istheyeari · 09/08/2025 11:07

Argh sorry I missed that there was another page!!!

I’m struggling to think about what to eat too, and am bored with chicken and protein!! I’m going to try using Chat GPT for inspiration and as I’m not working at the moment, try to get the motivation to do some batch cooking….

Thanks for the microneedle link @myladyjane , stupid question, how does it feel, does it hurt? I’ve been reading lots about it….

myladyjane · 09/08/2025 12:46

So the micro needling doesn’t feel bad. It sort of prickles immediately after you’ve done it and I get a bit pink but back to normal in 25 mins.

myladyjane · 09/08/2025 12:49

@PenelopePerseveres thank you. I’ve never been super quick at weight loss and at least the mj doesn’t make it difficult to sustain but it’s still a slog innit

hunkydory54 · 09/08/2025 12:51

Afternoon losers, I'm plodding along steadily and have finally reached a weight beginning with a 12, I'm 12 stone 13lbs today. I haven't been this weight since I stopped smoking 20 odd years ago, so massive achievement and I'm approaching 3 stone down. Also my NSV today was that while I was doing my qigong this morning I just felt a lot less bulky.

I have a question for those of you who have been travelling, we're due to go away on a driving holiday staying in hotels in Guernsey and France in early September. I'm going up to 10mg on my next jab day next Thursday. That pen is due to finish on the 4th September when I'm away. My question is how do I keep the new pen cold until 11th September or do I just pause and start again when I get home on 18th September? I've been looking at cool containers on Amazon and there are couple of possibilities as well as hotel room fridges. I don't know what to do 🤔

I'd just plan to take the bonus dose from your existing pen to give you 5 doses so you'd finish it on 11th rather than 4th.

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 09/08/2025 14:33

Hi losers,

Lovely to see so many people getting closer and closer to their goals! And that so many of us didn't think this could ever happen, me included.

Interesting to see the microneedling talk here. Did a touch of botox and fillers last week and the nurse I see thinks microneedling would really improve my skin. So I went all out and have Dr. Pen microneedling device coming in the mail.

Also use tretinoin and have a tube of Tazarotene waiting as well, which is supposed to be even better.
If you want something more gentle, Korean style skin flooding has made a huge difference for me. Layering several toners, ampoules, serums and creams - skin gets super hydrated, really helps with the crepeyness.

hunkydory54 · 09/08/2025 14:36

@MJallthewaythank you I’ll give the bonus dose a go as that seems the most convenient and easiest option instead of hoping for a decent fridge in a hotel room. I’ve not done the bonus dose before, do you just use the pen and a regular needle as normal?

myladyjane · 09/08/2025 14:48

@HeidiNotSoHeavy ohhhhhh interesting! I got the recommendation from here on the style and beauty board and they had upgraded from the roller to the pen so I’d be interested in how you get on. I tried tret for ages and it did nothing for my skin at all so I’ve down graded to retinal for now which seems to work quite well. I was actually in tk maxx about an hour ago to see is they had Korean skincare in as well (sadly not so I’me about to waste an hour going down a rabbit hole). Any recommendations you have gratefully received.

@hunkydory54 I do my 5th dose with an insulin needle. I could never force the pen (neither could dh) to do it with the regular needle and the insulin needle is really easy as long as you have bought the actual needle. Maybe worth a quick read of some of the bonus dose threads on here to see if it sounds practical.

MJalltheway · 09/08/2025 15:03

@hunkydory54 I use a separate syringe and needle to get the bonus dose out and then swap to a fresh needle to inject. I already have syringes and needles anyway because I inject myself with b12 regularly (I have pernicious anaemia which needs regular injections).

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 09/08/2025 15:42

@myladyjane I order mine mostly from Yesstyle or Stylevana - delivery takes a while, but prices are also great. I like Anua, Some by Mi, HaruHaru, Skin1004 (amazing sunscreen), Dr Althea and Medicube

BlueLimes · 09/08/2025 16:27

Yay @PenelopePerseveres
have a great day @Jins and hope the pre visit was tolerable
@myladyjane oh I think I need to get one
@Thelittlestranger wow beginning with an 8 is the dream!
@BreezyPeer you are the thread cheerleader!!
@2025istheyeari that’s so good. We’re away soon and I fully expect to gain, I’m looking forward to a few cocktails and DH and DS have loads of dinners planned as they love their food !! Slim and tall - gits!!
The difference will be finding it easier to get back on track once back.

@olivietolivie i think you should allow yourself to invest in you. You’d continue if was for your DC I bet.

interested in your skincare regime @HeidiNotSoHeavy
i currently double cleanse, use a serum, Eye cream, face cream plus oil at night. Just started to use a retinol on my neck.

Hope not missed anyone - there were a lot of posts!

I’ve plateaud last 2 weeks - hope for a miraculous weigh on this week, but didn’t think I’d see a weight starting with a 9 again- can’t complain at that.

PenelopePerseveres · 09/08/2025 17:08

Thanks everyone, I am happy to be out of the obese category. There was a sale on in my favourite dept store and it was really busy so I didn't look at bras today.

@hunkydory54 I missed a week rather than taking a new pen with me on holiday. I bought these and the corresponding syringes futher down the page last week, delivery was £4 and fairly quick, I'll be trying them for the first time in the morning. I used a syringe with a needle before but it put me off because the needle became blunt after extracting the dose so I wanted to try something different.

Well done on a holiday loss @2025istheyeari , fabulous news.

I am in awe at everyone's dedication to a skincare regime. You'll be shocked at mine, I do use nice products and feel like I have got it right for my skin now (wasn't always the case), but I simply, cleanse and tone and use a facial oil and eye cream. Even when I buy products to do a bit more I rarely cba to use them and they just sit there in my bathroom cabinet. I also rarely pay attention to my neck, must have a good look later on.

I hope your plateau disappears @BlueLimes .

hunkydory54 · 09/08/2025 19:19

@PenelopePerseveres thank you for the recommendation and let me know how you get on tomorrow. I think it will be a lot easier to try and get the bonus dose than taking a new pen away.

DGonMJ · 09/08/2025 19:39

Urgh I have been online shopping again. The perils of a lower dose and dopamine seeking!

Food appetite is under control, but as mentioned earlier, I’ve ordered the medik8 Vit C and Retinal creams to ‘take care of my face’. I went out for a work friends birthday last night, I was oldest one there - they all had such great skin!

DH has mentioned he’s able to cover the roofing repairs I’ve given myself permission to buy some ‘capsule basics’ from M&S: a cream silk shirt, a Breton top and a couple of black, navy merino wool crew necks. I actually need some new black wide leg trousers as my current high-waisted pair aren’t sitting high enough anymore. But the M&S navy wide leg linen trousers I bought the other week will do for now, and I have relaxed cut black jeans from Whistles which can be paired with that smart silk shirt.

I’m hoping to find some nice gold jewellery and maybe a brown leather belt while on holiday. Also, maybe a leather tote. It’s nice to have a list of a few things to look out for.

Need to get back onto Vinted tomorrow morning and post some of the DCs clothes they’ve grown out of. That’ll knock usually stops me from browsing for myself!

MJalltheway · 09/08/2025 19:55

My skincare routine makes yours look complicated and high end @PenelopePerseveres 😁
I don't use anything, don't cleanse, don't wear makeup. Occasionally I'll stick a bit of Nivea crème on but that's it. Don't have many wrinkles, but I put that down to genetics and the fact I hate being in the sun so ALWAYS stay in the shade and/or wear a hat.
