Sending every good wish @RockyisMYRhino 🌻.

Amazing progress reported. 😍

@2025istheyeari I’ve thought about having blood tests for cortisol levels before. I really think my diet is generally very good/nutritous. I’m now suspecting hormones, I don’t seem to have periods anymore but I still get every other symptom, bloating, even bulkier than usual uterus feeling, hot 🥵. Etc., etc.

Big day for me today, final interview day for a role I’d really love, I’ve made it through psychometric tests, leadership interview and technical skills interview with external consultants, wish me 🍀 friends, I’m down to the last three.

Good luck @PenelopePerseveres

@RockyisMYRhino and a different sort of good luck for you and your husband.

PenelopePerseveres · 01/08/2025 10:27

Thank you everyone, just having a coffee beforehand. It’s actually a role that focuses on something I did as a research project for three years - not the sort of thing that comes along more than once in your career, I know that the work would absolutely make my heart sing. I’ll update this evening 🤞🤞🤞.

@myladyjane I am so over my weird reproductive system.

Best of luck @PenelopePerseveres 🤞

TicTac80 · 01/08/2025 11:33

Morning all!! Day off today (yay!) and then two weeks of annual leave (unless I win jackpot tonight!)....double yay!

I got home last night to a messy house, so this morning I've had all hands on deck to get place looking less like a drug squat. Also made it very clear to the kids that I won't be allowing socialising if chores aren't done. They do know how to cook/clean etc but sometimes forget.

Weighed myself this morning, and 51.35kg (BMI 18.9). Please note that I'm not trying to lose any weight, just maintain (or even try and get to a slightly heavier weight). I still have my 10mg pen but have eeked it down to 5mg doses as I really can't lose any more. I will see about ordering another pen so I don't leave it too late etc and then run out completely, but hoping that might be the last pen I need. We will see!

Sad news...one of my beautiful cats was killed by a car last Saturday, so I'm pretty broken about that. Catio is being put up in the front, as we speak (just need to order netting for it) and my other cats are being kept in (until catio is properly sorted). I'm more upset as I only let them out at certain times in day (10am to about 3:30pm), I kept them in at other times. She was hit at around 2pm, just up the road from my house (I live on a hairpin bend of a 20mph road, where kids play out)...and the car didn't stop. I just don't get why someone wouldn't stop. The family who live up the road saw what happened and tried to help her but she was already gone.

Gotta get back to ordering netting, final bits of housework etc. Catch you soon!!

Thelittlestranger · 01/08/2025 12:09

Sorry to hear about your cat @tinyemmy ❤️
Good luck @PenelopePerseveres

@Boohoo76 it will be 12 days between taking shots for me. I'm going down from 7.5 to 5, but that's because I'm titrating down anyway. I guess it depends how many days past 2 weeks, and how you feel about it - could you take a pen on holiday so it's not so long?

I flew back in early this morning. Went for a run with the dogs, and then hit the scales despite thinking I would wait until tomorrow. They aren't looking too bad, but will wait for official WI tomorrow when I will start jabbing again to commit. Just made my own lunch for the first time in 2 weeks and it was delicious 😋 Back to some structure.

BlueLimes · 01/08/2025 12:12

@DGonMJ @meatyryvita @Boohoo76 fantastic losses.

good luck @PenelopePerseveres and your DH @RockyisMYRhino

Bit behind on thread so will read now.

Im 53, periods starting to be a bit erratic about 18 months ago- I’m feel bit off at times but think work stress. I need to research hrt. No other symptoms I don’t think, some bloating maybe.

BlueLimes · 01/08/2025 12:15

oh that’s awful @TicTac80
Possibly a stupid question, if you don’t want to lose, reduce dose more or come off it?

Unfortunately I don’t have a pen to take as the latest one I ordered hasn’t arrived and am running out of time to receive it. It will be less than 48 hours over two weeks as I usually inject in the evening and arrive home in the morning.

PenelopePerseveres · 01/08/2025 12:25

So sorry to hear about your cat @TicTac80 that is very sad. One of my worst fears. 💔

Well, I don’t think that went terribly well, I’ll await their decision but I’m not hugely hopeful after meeting them.

I know I’d love the content of the work, but I really want it all, great team, workplace, culture etc. Not sure about the culture vibe (as much as you can be in 75 mins). I’ve had two experiences in the last 12 months where I thought I’d have it all. One was offered but I turned it down due to location and their final hybrid working position. One wasn’t.

It’s strange how I felt that this was the one for me ….. until I met the people.

I think I’ll have a gin tonight whatever the outcome, a very rare occurrence!

Zempy · 01/08/2025 12:29

@PenelopePerseveres my DD just found out she got the job she interviewed for on Weds. It’s a sign!!

@TicTac80So sorry about your cat. 💐

@myladyjane I couldn’t get on with HRT although many friends are fine on it. I had weird bleeding and GAINED WEIGHT!!!

@Boohoo76 The dopamine hit of seeing that lower starting number on the scales never gets old!!

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 01/08/2025 12:56

so sorry to hear @TicTac80
Always so traumatic, at least sounds like the kitty didn't suffer. I'm visiting my parents this weekend, they lost their old cat some time ago and have a kitten now, who is of course utterly mad, like kittens are. Trying to convince DH that we already have 2 dogs, one Maine Coon and a hamster, so another cat will barely make a difference, surely..

@PenelopePerseveres you've got this! It is annoying if you have come second several times, especially annoying if they put you though 12 interviews or thereabouts. But those jobs were not meant to be then.

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 01/08/2025 13:02

But I do get how important workplace culture is, toxic workplaces with backstabbing colleagues is not something I ever want to do again. Interviewing for a really interesting position myself at the moment, but very cautiously, as my current job is lovely and manager ..well, sane :D

Jins · 01/08/2025 13:29

Flying in - so sorry @TicTac80. I’ve lost two to RTAs, 6 years apart. Both big strong tabby males that had wanderlust. I had no idea how far they travelled until they’d gone. They both died instantly which was a relief to me.

@PenelopePerseveres I’ve learned to go with gut feelings on employment matters. However doing work you really enjoy can counteract a lot of the arseholery of colleagues. I hope you get the opportunity to decide.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 01/08/2025 14:01

@TicTac80 Really sorry to read about your cat, how horrible for you.

Thelittlestranger · 01/08/2025 14:19

@TicTac80 sorry about your cat! I mentioned tinyemmy by mistake...

mince3point14159265 · 01/08/2025 14:21

Praying for good news for @RockyisMYRhino & @PenelopePerseveres 🙏🤞

So sorry to hear about your cat @TicTac80 , what a hideous driver to not stop and check 😡💐

Great news re your daughter @Zempy 🍾

@Boohoo76 I'm not 100% sure but I think I've read on one of the weight loss threads that missing a dose for 2 weeks is ok and you can just take your regular dose next time, 3 weeks and it's advised to take one step down dose, so if you we're on 7.5, take 5 for example. Someone kindly posted a table somewhere but that's not much help to you when I can't remember where I saw it! 🤪

Thank you. I think I am going to go back to 7.5 for the first injection when I return home. I can’t believe that less than 48 hours will make a massive difference, especially as I have been taking it for six months.

myladyjane · 01/08/2025 14:50

@TicTac80 I am sorry to hear about your cat.

@Zempy well done DD!

@PenelopePerseveres hmmmm. I say if you don’t get it it’s probably the right thing. The people we work with are so important imo. IIRC your line of work can be fairly full on? Long days/travelling etc? It’s the connections that help us battle through in my experience.

@Zempy this is my worry with the hrt. My sil packed on the beef and had really weird bleeding with it. I had a lot of hormones during fertility treatment and it was a bit of a rollercoaster. Perhaps I’ll see how I go from til I’m a bit closer to goal.

MJalltheway · 01/08/2025 15:02

So sorry to hear about your cat @TicTac80 🤗 it's something all cat owners dread I think. They are such a part of the family.

Ive been on HRT for I think 6 or 7 years now, I went through menopause early (45/46) so went on it even though I didn't have much in the way of symptoms because it protects you against osteoporosis. Not had any issues with it at all, it completely sorted the night sweats and have no plans to come off it.

PenelopePerseveres · 01/08/2025 15:16

Hi everyone, thanks for your support, decision made for me so I don't have to ponder.

I wish I could post the discussion about why I wasn't successful. It was akin to ''we know that you've got vast experience driving an Audi and your experience is massively relevant/transferrable, however, your experience is actually a bit lacking because you've never driven a Tesla July 2025 spec. We're learning how to drive a Tesla July 2025 spec ourselves due to it being a brand new vehicle ..... but we were hoping for someone with that direct experience.

No one has experience of driving a Tesla July 2025, it doesnt exist organisationally or anywhere. My application didn't claim to have that experience, the job spec didn't require that experience. Pretty pointless feedback from today, feedback from the other parts of the process was good.

One of my siblings did very well on HRT, I'm not allowed it but I would try it if I could.

@HeidiNotSoHeavy best of luck with your application.

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 01/08/2025 15:35

Well that honestly sounds like a bullet dodged, @PenelopePerseveres
Sounds like this company who turned down a guy because he didn't have 10 years of experience with a software that has been around for 5 years. And that the applicant in question created.

myladyjane · 01/08/2025 15:41

@PenelopePerseveres agree, sounds like it wouldnt have been a great experience. But you clearly rock.

PenelopePerseveres · 01/08/2025 16:27

😐I can belive that @HeidiNotSoHeavy . Thank you @myladyjane .

I'm currently a big fish in a small pond in a large garden 😂. I'm hoping for a role where I am a small/med fish in a larger pond, it is proving really difficult. Not sure if ageism is coming into it.

In view of my lack of job success over the last 18 months I'm actually seriously considering downsizing to something much much smaller. Take the pressure off, reduce my mortgage to 25% of what it currently is, then if it all gets too much I can walk away and just sign up for projects/locum work.

tinyemmy · 01/08/2025 16:27

Sorry about your cat @TicTac80 your weight is now very low, hopefully you can put a bit on, but not too much!

@PenelopePerseveres sorry about the job, this happened to me last year. "You were great, the job went to someone already in the same industry". Well if you knew that's what you wanted why take me to final interview?! Better off out.

Like @HeidiNotSoHeavy I have a great team at the moment and don't want to be stabbed in the back anymore so not looking...

I'm on HRT, I had a message from the GP that you're supposed to up oral progesterone. I think for a month after any dose increase, but the message came when I was titrating back down, but explains some of the breakthrough bleeding I had.

Interested in the maintenance updates, I'm still not sure what I'm doing. I'm pleased that I upped to 3.75, this seems to be better than 2.5 for me, I'm not against staying on mj so perhaps this is my maintenance dose.

mince3point14159265 · 01/08/2025 17:07

@Boohoo76 I'm really worried I've given you bum advice as I can't find the table I was talking about anywhere!

Sorry to hear your news @PenelopePerseveres ; hopefully the universe will come up with something that is a better fit. 🍀

For anyone on or considering HRT, this was a really interesting thread started by WeAllHaveWings regarding the problems with progesterone taken orally, so might have some useful information if you haven't seen it before.
