Mounjaro/Wegovy with > 5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 9!

1000 replies

MooBaggage · 08/07/2025 08:50

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you're on.

We have kiwis, hammocks, weight loss charts, an unhealthy obsession with Vinted and enough water to sink several ships 😊

No discount codes please - there's a separate thread for those.

Did anyone find they didn't lose much in week 2?

gimmemounjaro · 13/07/2025 08:46

Thanks @Emas82 I am chuffed! But weirdly sometimes I have to remember to be chuffed 🤔

@Lozzie118 I lost 1.3lbs in week 2 and then gained in week 3. MJ didn’t really start for me until I was on 5mg - but then I lost more in the first week of 5mg than I had in four weeks on 2.5mg. Very annoying at the time but in a few weeks / months it won’t matter.

GiveMeWordGames · 13/07/2025 08:50

What a brilliant achievement in that year, @gimmemounjaro You absolutely should be proud/chuffed/insert similar adjective here.

neveroutofthekitchen · 13/07/2025 08:58

I know a lot of providers don't supply under BMI of 30 so when you get to that point do you just stick with the provider you are with because you can't switch?
Your existing provider doesn't cut you off at BMI 30 do they?
I'm only on my first pen and looks like you have to enter your weight every time you reorder.
Talk me through it please!

There are no suppliers who stop supplying at BMI of 30. All of them will continue supplying to a healthy BMI. Once you reach this point their policies on maintenance vary; some are happy to continue as long as your BMI remains above 19.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 13/07/2025 09:23

Just to add @neveroutofthekitchen - you can switch supplier below BMI30 as long as you provide the new supplier with proof of your previous prescription, which usually has to be dated within the last five weeks or so.

gimmemounjaro · 13/07/2025 09:26

@neveroutofthekitchen You can also switch when under BMI30, I switched to Simple Online Pharmacy at 24.5 because I was getting close to goal and my previous provider didn’t do maintenance. SOP will continue to prescribe for maintenance as long as you don’t go underweight.

gimmemounjaro · 13/07/2025 09:27

Oh sorry cross post @VelociraptorsVelociRapping 🤦‍♀️

My starting month thread is super nice too but it's lovely to have this one to share with people on a similar journey.

I also follow my month start thread, the 10 stones and this one. I kinda fall between the two latter as needed to loose around 7 stones. I post on these one the most.

Darlinghag · 13/07/2025 10:59

Hello folks!! I was debating putting my weekly update on here because I’ve opted not to track a weigh in this week - because it will annoy me lol.

So up to yesterday I had lost 2.4lbs!! It came off relatively early into the week, and then stayed the same. But yesterday I had a day out, took an immodium to protect my stomach (I have issues post gallbladder removal, MJ has helped tremendously but days 6-7 post jab can be iffy, especially with richer foods!), ate things that give me bloat, drunk alcohol and not enough water so I’ve decided not to weigh in properly today and will just give myself a couple of days to get back to schedule!

I was hoping to reach 13st 7 by sometime mid July and i’m close! I’d love to get to 13st for my MJ anniversary in late August if I can!

MooBaggage · 13/07/2025 11:17

Hello from the only place in the country that isn't hot and sunny 🙄😁

I'm having a lovely time though with ds's - although realising I can't keep up with 20 something year olds...! We went out last night, I drank more than I have since January and woke up at 1.30am, fully clothed, on my bed, upside down, without a clue of where I was..! Don't think I'll touch alcohol for the rest of the week now...

An NSV for me - we're staying at the same holiday house we came to exactly a year ago. It's got one of those showers in a corner cubicle with rounded slidy doors. A year ago, I actually struggled to get in and out of it because the doors don't open fully 🙀. This year, I can just breeze in and out without catching my boobs on the door! 😁

Thanks for the new thread @MooBaggage
It’s great to read about all the NSVs and SVs this group are having.
I’m on W6D1 and I imagine that I’ve another 12 months to get to a healthy BMI.
It’s all going pretty well so far - 2 stone down and just had my blood pressure assessed by the GP as normal and therefore off the meds - hurrah!

Timetofindme · 14/07/2025 07:40

Morning all! My leg is now free from its cast and I can start moving around a bit more. Feels like I can get back on the MJ journey. I've been taking it bar a small stop for surgery but I think I've been boredom snacking, and because I've been more limited in getting to the shops haven't necessarily had things in the fridge I've wanted to eat so have snacked on crisps. Mentally I've just not had the drive or focus, which I'm trying to not give myself a hard time about. What's done is done and I've just got to get back to it. The heat also hasn't helped me in terms of being organised and doing food prep cos I hate the heat, feel ill, and haven't wanted to do anything!

So. Back to it for me. I've also been on the scales this morning and there's been a small drop over the last few weeks but I'm not convinced it's not just muscle wastage!

Hope you all have good weeks ahead!

GiveMeWordGames · 14/07/2025 08:29

@Timetofindme that must be a relief to be able to move around properly again. I'm sure you'll be back in the swing of things in no time. Even if you don't think you've really lost, you certainly haven't gained and that's important in itself.

It's my usual weigh/jab day today, although I'm still off schedule a bit so no actual jab, and I've had a little whoosh! Scales unexpectedly showed me 14st 8.75 today. That makes a 3.25lb loss since last Monday which was when i'd been rather stuck at 14/12. I was peeing for Britain yesterday so I think there's definitely been some water retention in the heat.

Total loss now in 16 weeks is 37.25lbs.

MooBaggage · 14/07/2025 09:11

Jab day for me, but no weighing as I'm on holiday 😁

I'm currently obsessed with walking pads 🙄 Haven't ordered one yet, but am itching to! Does anyone have one/rate them? I mainly WFH and am soooooo lazy, but am really enjoying my hand weights at home so thought I'll probably get into being on a walking pad. That's the theory, anyway!

I have a standing desk @MooBaggage and I don't use it. Its exhausting & I found it too much for bad ankles & knees! Maybe I should give it another go.

I had a treadmill accident returning to the gym during the pandemic (so 2020 at some point I guess), hit the side of the treadmill, fell & landed on my shoulder - injury I've only just properly recoverd from doing lots of yoga.

So I look at those walking pads & simply see myself in a crumpled bundle under my desk. I can't imagine being about to safely use one unless they were much much wider.

Hopefully someone will stroll along with positive experiences.

I did my 200th hot yoga class yesterday - I started mid November so 200 classes is pretty good going. It ticks the box - find a way you like to move and do it regularly & often. As someone who excels in procrastination I'm proud of turing up for 200 classes - if I ever get a "Oh I don't know if I can be bothered today" thought, I wack it into space with my mental baseball bat, stop the negative thought process, replace it with "just go to yoga" & I go to yoga. I'm really proud in how I've supported myself in this - but the thing about yoga is it feels so good.

Its astonishing how yoga is shaping my body - my back is strong, my shoulders feel extraordinary, my collar bone is visible from throat to shoulder joint which I find incredible, my legs are so strong, I can twist like that girl in The Exorcist. I still have excessive body fat, but I don't seem to have cellulite on my thighs. I don't know where its gone - it used to be there. lots & lots of it used to be there. I think my thighs are so strong now, and the skin brushing also really helps skin tone etc so the back of my thighs is super smooth with strong muscle tone. I also wonder if all the sweating in hot yoga has helped skin tone? Having said that I do have loose skin expecially on upper arms (but only the bits I can't really see, tummy, knees & inner thighs. And my face is getting more wrinkly. I'm ok with all of this. I'm 57 & I've been obese/morbidly obese for more than 30 years so that is all OK with me.

The biggest change is thoughts about my body are still there but they are 95% positive thoughts now.

Another kilo off this week. I didn't think 10mg was working that well and I bought 12.5 for next pen, but now 10 is working really well so I am thinking of sticking to 10 for another month (ordering a 2nd new pen).

Total loss 36 kilos / 5 stone 9lb
My MJ staring anniversary is in 2 weeks.

RobinEllacotStrike · 14/07/2025 10:18

It’s extraordinary to think I am 14 kilos away from a healthy BMI goal. That’s feels very much within reach now. Starting out and being 50 kilos away from healthy BMI weight, it felt impossible & way out of reach.

RobinEllacotStrike · 14/07/2025 10:25

@gimmemounjarocongratulations on a spectacular & life changing year!

💐🥂🍾🥝🥝

Darlinghag · 14/07/2025 10:52

@MooBaggage i have one! It is good and works well - and at the time was cheaper than a treadmill. Mine does 6km per hour max, and I usually get up to that now I’m fitter. My only issue is that i’m actually in a place where I would like to try couch to 5k but it doesn’t go that fast!

if you’re aiming to get to that point i would say spring for a treadmill!

but over all, its super handy, especially when in winter! If i find someone who wants it locally, i will upgrade to a treadmill. (Youre not in south wales are you??)

Thinking over the weekend, I had an NSV, similar to yours on holiday! Went to a show, and it was the same location as one I went to 6/7 months ago and I fit so much easier! I remember at the time feeling like had so much more room, but this time my arms didn’t need armrests - I could fit them inside my seat without issue. And things like having my drink and phone in my lap - my fat used to make this impossible to have sit tidily - not an issue now!!

Darlinghag · 14/07/2025 10:57

@RobinEllacotStrike you have actually made me think about yoga fir a while, you know.

I’ve never actually set foot in a gym or exercise class - I have always been completely intimidated by it.

i’ve not bit the bullet yet, but I think I need to do some stuff at home to get some basic capability on place - I’m so stiff and inflexible!! There’s a class ten minutes from me for all capabilities so i think i’m going to aim to sign up in september when things are cooler, and i’ve had a chance to learn some things so i’m not completely and utterly pathetic at it!!

i’ve also considered using chatgpt to create a little weekly plan for me utilising what I have at home, youtube and my regular dog walking. Anyone else done this?

Zebracat · 14/07/2025 11:02

Walking pads have no appeal for me either, I’d sooner go for a walk. I hate being hot and that’s why swimming is the thing for me. I swim hard and set myself new targets and I go every day unless I physically cannot. My arms are pretty toned and my waist is shyly emerging from its hiding place.

Weight loss has stalled though , think I am self sabotaging now. I ate too much of the wrong food again yesterday, awake half the night with indigestion, so so stupid😔. I’ve given myself a pep talk and I will move up to 7.5 this week. My household is still in chaos but should settle down soon and we can get better systems in place. I have meal planned this week .

MooBaggage · 14/07/2025 11:10

@Darlinghag My Dad is in South Wales and is coming to see me next week - he's near Bridgend if that's anywhere near you?! Message me if you think it's doable 😊

If not, let me know what make yours is and I'll keep doing research..!
