New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you're on.

We have kiwis, hammocks, weight loss charts, an unhealthy obsession with Vinted and enough water to sink several ships 😊

No discount codes please - there's a separate thread for those.

I put an order in last night from my current supplier and another this morning from my previous supplier. Neither of which are particularly low prices so that’s £400 spent which I can’t really afford but will be better than the alternative if 15mg pens go over £300 as predicted.
I don’t know if either order is approved or if they have any stock left but I had to try.
I had a plan for the next 6-12 months that is now completely up in the air so feeling quite thrown today. 😫

GiveMeWordGames · 15/08/2025 08:37

My way of getting it in person means I can't order multiple pens now but on the flip side I'm hoping it means nobody else can either so by 28th August there should still be stock. Also 7.5 doesn't seem to be the hot ticket that 12.5 and 15 are.

Everything about it is upsetting @MooBaggage, no question. Especially the nasty, disingenuous, crowing idiots who have crawled out of the woodwork on the big thread discussing this.

I’m so gutted, my little stockpile has depleted over summer so now im trying to replenish before the price increase. If I don’t get any I’ll have to stop/switch to something else. 😭

Yes, I can't decide what's worse - being genuinely that stupid and ill-informed or pretending you don't "understand" just to have a sly, bitchy gloat at the lazy fatties. I spy both.

GiveMeWordGames · 15/08/2025 08:58

I'm genuinely puzzled by the (current, not post price rise) Mounjaro/Wegovy pricing at my pharmacy. They recently reduced their MJ prices - I was so happy about that🙄😢 - and I wonder if it's because they've got so many more people on MJ now they could negotiate a better deal.

Morning all, hope you're all doing ok. I can imagine the panic of some longer termers on higher doses. More reasons to hate Trump.

I've just ordered the continuation pack from Asda of 5mg and 7.5mg for £270. I'm just about to go up to 5mg from 3.75, so thinking if I can stick around that, those should hopefully take me to mid December then I'll assess after the price hike. Not sure if there are any delays with them, but thought I'd give them a go as I'm just starting a new pen now so have some time.

Sending love to you all ❤️

Darlinghag · 15/08/2025 09:48

Its so devastating, I hate that we don’t know much it will jump for many providers yet. I’m also wondering why a few providers have been so quick to change prices and some are silent - nothing on asda yet, which I can’t decide if is a good or bad thing.

I am also on the fence about ordering again today. Mainly due to funds. I have two full pens luckily, mainly because I use 8mg from a 10mg pen, thus getting 5-6 doses and still ordering monthly, and have ended up with a bit more over time, but I’d feel more comfortable if I could get a couple more pens to see me through the year, I’d feel better. But that also feels like mad behaviour!!

I never thought I’d feel like this!!

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 15/08/2025 09:48

Just catching up on all this. I didn’t look at my phone at all yesterday!

I wondered about ordering a stockpile but I’m not going to be home to take a delivery for a week so I’ll just have to cross my fingers for when I get back.

By all means sign a petition if you want but I’m sorry, it will make absolutely no difference at all. Private companies can name their price and Eli Lilly have a monopoly.

Evenstar · 15/08/2025 09:57

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping I agree that the petition may not do anything, but it doesn’t seem right to just let this happen without raising our voices against it. If everyone on Mounjaro and some of their family and friends signed it that is a lot of people and will draw attention.

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 15/08/2025 10:21

I’ve only been taking 2.5mg but I’ve ordered two 2.5mg pens from a different supplier than usual because of the price rises. I may stretch the doses a bit by doing 1mg every 4 days that would go a bit over the 30days but I’m fairly comfortable with that. I know it’s not the recommended dose but I struggle with side effects so feel better taking smaller dose more frequently to avoid a big spike. I’ve actually not taken it for a couple of weeks but as my symptom doesn’t seem to have changed it may not be related to MJ at all so I’m going to restart. I like the comfort blanket of knowing having the pens helps get my brain in the right mindset.

QueenOfHiraeth · 15/08/2025 10:40

That main thread is certainly bringing out the idiots, some uninformed and some just plain nasty, but I must admit yesterday has brought back some of the anger I am clearly still carrying from during Covid when those of us working in the NHS would get out to find no basic food, loo rolls, etc available while there were posts on social media of people with their back bedroom stacked to the rafters just in case.
My supplier has closed all orders other than reorders on their due dates until new stock arrives next week (sod's law is my next 15mg order is due on 2nd Sept) so I have tried to order one pen from another provider but I am infuriated by people crowing on FB that they have ordered large numbers from here, there and everywhere.

RobinEllacotStrike · 15/08/2025 11:39

Just received confirmation from my supplier that they will fulfill my order for 2 x 12.5mg pens. I put them on credit card - they will see me through until end of November. I've been with one supplier for all my MJ & this is as much "stockpiling" as I feel comfortable with. I did have my fingers crossed as I thought there was a chance they would say no.

Like many of you I feel like the rug has been pulled out from underneath me with this. Like we are all suddenly on a bizarre naughty step.

Mind you it has always been a puzzle as to why EL charged so much less for MJ in the UK than elsewhere. It made using MJ accessible for so many UK people but these new prices are going to place it well out of reach for many of us. I can juggle my budget a bit to keep going - and I have loads of stuff to sell so I will get busy with that.

I hope they come up with an affordable maintance option soon.

RobinEllacotStrike · 15/08/2025 11:44

"Private companies can name their price and Eli Lilly have a monopoly."

Except in this instance its Trump who is demanding EL raise their prices or he will inflict Most Favoured Nations pricing on pharma companies. If USA prices drop meaningfully as a result of this I will eat all my empty pens.

Pumpkinforever · 15/08/2025 11:46

Update from Oushk saying they have over 3000 emails in their inbox and basically to stop messaging them about stock levels and prices. They will honour the 3 pen orders that went through but the new limit is now 2 pens.

Pumpkinforever · 15/08/2025 11:52

But in happier news I have finally achieved my 5 stone weight loss goal. My BMI has gone from 41.4 down to 28.3 and my weight has dropped from 15stone 12.5lbs to 10 stone 12.5lbs.

Still got a stone and a half to go to get myself to a BMI of 23.5.

So though I am absolutely fuming at the prices increases, I am incredibly grateful that I started Nov 24.

QueenOfHiraeth · 15/08/2025 12:07

@Pumpkinforever I feel the same, I am grateful that I am over 1 year on and almost 6st down. I do feel sorry for those who now won't be able to have that opportunity but we have to accept that we just caught a lucky break.

RobinEllacotStrike · 15/08/2025 12:18

11.06am - email to say congratulations your order has been fulfilled.

11.22am - below message

I got my order in just in time, but now there are shortages. What a mess.

Darlinghag · 15/08/2025 12:19

Well, I did it. I ordered two weeks early, and ordered two pens (thank you @ANutAsBigAsABoulder for both the heads up on the continuation packs and the code!) Asda are slow to approve these days, so things may change if stock levels decrease, of course.

@RobinEllacotStrike it was you who gave me the push - you are always so level headed on here and I saw you did it and I whipped my credit card out!!

It was, after discount, £358ish, which is more than what I paid for my 10mg pens, but I chose a 12.5mg and a 15mg set, and I will click count 8mg. I’ve been on this dose for 8 months, so best case I am covered for quite a while, worst case, I have enough to cover a dose increase for a bit too. I have gone over 30 days before, but not as much as a 15mg pen would take me, but I think I am ok with that - I do refrigerate perpetually and am of course, regimented about hygiene etc.

For those looking, ASDA still have stock of all doses according to their pages. I’m happy to PM the code for 10% off to anyone, its not a referral one FYI!

I won’t be ordering anymore now, or trying other providers, I feel for those whose providers have got none of their dose in stock.

Fingers crossed we get proper clarity on all this very soon!!

MabelSpan · 15/08/2025 12:21

@Darlinghag Ooh I would love your code please, they usually send me one but havent this time! 😕

QueenOfHiraeth · 15/08/2025 12:25

@RobinEllacotStrike This is just like the Covid thing all over again where the greed of some is impacting others.

I've just had a panicked phone call from a friend today that she needs to place her regular order, she's been on it over 6 months, has run down her small buffer due to being away on holiday, but now finds her supplier and many others are out of stock.

Darlinghag · 15/08/2025 12:26

MabelSpan · 15/08/2025 12:21

Done!

MabelSpan · 15/08/2025 12:27

Thank you! @Darlinghag 😊

RobinEllacotStrike · 15/08/2025 12:42

I've never had a buffer - I always just ordered 2 weeks before I need a new pen.
Last time I ordered 12.5mg & then decided I wanted to stay on 10, and they let me reorder another 10 pen so I had 12.5 in fridge. I was (naively) surprised they allowed this.

For some reason I had it in my mind that MJ was a very controlled medication and it never occurred to me to have "one in hand" before yesterday. It seems this isn't the case.

I wonder if the UK Govt will get involved? Presumably they can and according to Wes Streeting half of the House of Commons is on GLP1's. They can't force pricing but they can ask EL to reconsider, or push back at Trump with a tariff on medication of UK origin. I don't think this is over yet & I think Streeting will be considering those on private prescriptions & the knock on benefits to NHS etc, and what if anything the UK GOvt can do.

"Streeting told LBC radio: “Weight loss jabs are the talk of the House of Commons; half my colleagues are on them and are judging the rest of us, saying: ‘You lot should be on them.’
“And the thing is, if you can afford these weight loss jabs, which can be over 200 quid a month, well, that’s all right for you. But most people in this country haven’t got a spare two and a half grand a year and often the people who have the worst and most challenging obesity also have the lowest income.”"

Wes Streeting: ‘half my colleagues’ in Commons using weight loss drugs

Health secretary says the drugs are the ‘talk of the House of Commons tea rooms’ as he vows to widen access to jabs

“ But most people in this country haven’t got a spare two and a half grand a year and often the people who have the worst and most challenging obesity also have the lowest income.”

Therefore obesity will be increasingly associated with those on lower incomes. I feel it will hit women the hardest as some men can get away with their joie d’vivre look.
