Mounjaro/Wegovy with > 5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 9!

1000 replies

MooBaggage · 08/07/2025 08:50

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you're on.

We have kiwis, hammocks, weight loss charts, an unhealthy obsession with Vinted and enough water to sink several ships 😊

No discount codes please - there's a separate thread for those.

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping I complained about the small belly thread too. I think it has been taken down.

What happened?

CountingSleepySheep · 11/08/2025 20:32

@emas82 there was a thread from someone who said they had a bmi of 24 and wanted to know where to get MJ prescribed to get rid of a small belly, very annoying.
@VelociraptorsVelociRapping I had a wardrobe clearout this weekend too, I found it quite scary as it felt like I was throwing away all my clothes but they don't actually fit now (and I don't want them to fit again) so best gone. The wardrobe has so much space now! 😀

Pumpkinforever · 11/08/2025 20:35

Someone put up a new thread who was clearly looking to get MJ but would not meet the requirements @Emas82 Given the regulators are tightening up on prescribers it is in all our interests that dodgy threads are taken down.

OnwardsDownwards · 11/08/2025 21:55

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping hurrah for the miniskirt! I too have started getting back in to my expensive clothes, though I no longer have the corporate job to wear them to.

Went up to 7.5 tonight. Feeling a bit worried about whether I’ll be hit with side effects but it seems to be a dose that agrees with a lot of people. And I have no choice, 5 has stopped working for me, I’ve spent much of this week standing at the pantry cupboard, which is possibly the hardest habit to break.

Emas82 · 12/08/2025 06:34

@Pumpkinforever and @CountingSleepySheep thanks for that. That's really concerning. The fact that you'd even ask without doing your own research into how these jabs work, it's madness!

Pumpkinforever · 12/08/2025 07:26

My latest stats. Started Nov 24.

SW - 100.7kg / 15 stone 12 lbs
CW - 69.9 kg / 11 stone

BMI was 41.4 and is now 28.7
Loss so far 4stone 12lbs / 30.8kg

If I lose another stone and a half that will sneak me into the healthy BMI range.

Just had my first 10mg jab.

Amarajean · 13/08/2025 01:12

Still can't go to the gym because of my osteoarthritis. I've also hurt my knee doing god knows what!!
However,I am now down to 97kg.thats 1kg a week which is quite a lot for me ,considering I hadn't lost for about 2 months,it now seems to be dropping off me. I'm not complaining but this mj does work in mysterious ways
My mini- goal of getting to 95kg doesn't seem to wide of the mark now.
Onwards and downwards everyone.

MooBaggage · 13/08/2025 08:06

Very happy today - I've lost the pesky post-op 5lbs of inflammation, plus have lost 1lb!

SW 13.1.25 20st 3lb. BMI 43
CW 13.8.25 15st 11lb BMI 33.9

Still losing at 2lbs a week on average, although probably more like 1lb a week over the past 2 months - it's much slower now, but I can see the difference more, so am all good.

Next mini goal - 15st 9lbs as I like to get into single digits in the stone!

Hello all, I’ve been so busy I’ve been a bit lax, but at least in this heat I’m getting back to drinking plenty of water.

Started middle of March 2025, one pen at 2.5mg, then stayed at 5mg until moving up to 7.5mg two weeks ago. I was starting to feel the effects of 5mg wearing off towards the end of the week and had hit a bit of a plateau.

SW: 119.3kg/18st 11lbs with BMI 43.8
CW: 97kg/15st 4lbs with BMI 35.6

My Fitness Pal calculates I’ve lost 18.7% of my body weight. I can’t even conceive of carrying that extra amount around with me, but at the start of the year it’s exactly what I was doing.

My next interim goals are:

  • 90.2 kg to get into onederland
  • 81kg to be classified as merely overweight rather than obese.

I still feel big and am wearing the same clothes as I did last summer, but they’re very definitely looser on me now. My linen trousers even seem longer which can be a trip hazard!

akaFrosty · 13/08/2025 12:23

@ANutAsBigAsABoulder That's excellent progress. I started mid March too, and have just gone up to 7.5 this week. I feel great so far, actually better than I did on 5mg.

I've lost around 15kgs now. I put 15kg of hand weights into a laundry basket the other day. I could barely lift it! I certainly couldn't carry it around all day, but that's exactly what we were doing only 6 months ago. It's amazing.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 13/08/2025 14:45

I'm moving beyond the world of NSVs into NSPs, ie non-scale problems. How tf are you supposed to shave hollow armpits? I have a tiny stripe of hair that I can't get to from any angle!

InfoSecInTheCity · 13/08/2025 15:12

OMG thank you! I had this exact same thought the other week then thought it was just me be8ng weird or having weird armpits.

Erm! Honest answer I think you have to stretch into weird positions to try to pull the skin around and get it. This was never a problem before my armpits became concave so I’m just hacking my way through it.

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 13/08/2025 16:34

@akaFrosty 15kg is a great amount lost, and yes would be so heavy to carry about! I sometimes stand by the butter at the supermarket to eyeball the amount I’ve lost.

Am glad you’re feeling good on 7.5mg. I felt terrible going up from 2.5 to 5 so was a bit worried this time round, but it’s been OK so far.

Amarajean · 14/08/2025 11:45

@ANutAsBigAsABoulder I too have lost just over 18%of my body weight!
It seems inconceivable to me also, I can't imagine carrying that amount around with me.
Sw-121kg
Cw-99kg
Gw-75kg
Lost -22kg.
Good luck to you on your mj journey.

RobinEllacotStrike · 14/08/2025 16:23

I've just ordered 2 new pens a bit early to get ahead of price rises as I am on 12.5mg moving forwards - hope my provider supplies them!
<fingers crossed>

WeAllHaveWings · 14/08/2025 16:24

Hey all 💗

As a group of people who are, were, going to be on Mounjaro for a longer time than most, hope you are all coping as well as you can with the news today 💗

For me Oushk is allowing customers to order 3 pens before the end of the month. I have a spare in the fridge already so that will cover me for a while with 5-6 doses per pen (if I stay on the same or lower dose). Long term plans for maintenance (as expected to stay on this long term) will be a bit up in the air as I am already too low a BMI to start Wegovy, unless they allow a switch in maintenance. I wouldn't be surprised if it means Oushk as a smaller pharmacy focusing on weight loss goes under.

I think if I was earlier in my journey and BMI > 30 I would be seriously researching switching to Wegovy.

Know many of you will be reeling from the news (or working away and haven't heard it yet). Thinking about you all and sending very un-mumsnettty hugs.

GiveMeWordGames · 14/08/2025 16:40

I'm literally on the cusp of going below BMI 30. Also, weirdly, Wegovy, is more expensive than MJ at the place I go to - I did have a quick check.

My next appointment with my pharmacy was actually booked in for D-Day, 1st September. I've just moved it forward to 28th August so hopefully that pen will be at the old price, and I'm going to see if they'll let me buy at two (or more) on that date. Which would take me through to early November, the point at which I was thinking I would be starting to titrate down.

I'm so lucky that I'm quite a way into my journey and lucky that I can manage a few months at a higher price if needed. I feel heartsick for those who've only just started, who need to be on it for longer, and wanted to maintain for life, and who could be forced off this amazing medication by this development. As if I needed another reason to loathe Trump. 🙄

AnneinEdinburgh · 14/08/2025 18:16

I am running round ordering pens from suppliers - many don't have any 15mg left and those that do will only supply 1. This is a nightmare!

AnneinEdinburgh · 14/08/2025 18:34

I hope I haven't panicked unnecessarily or chosen scammers not pharmacies. I got them all from the monj website. 5 15mg pens ordered from 4 pharmacies, only 1 of which I had used before. I hope I don't live to regret this!!!

alltablenochairs · 14/08/2025 18:39

Well thats me out for the count as I am on 15mg.
@AnneinEdinburgh would you mind messaging me privately where you are getting your MJ from?

RobinEllacotStrike · 14/08/2025 19:03

I'm frankly really shocked about these price rises. I did not expect that - I guess none of us did.

Bloody Trump! Extraordinary decision.

alltablenochairs · 14/08/2025 19:12

Trump is a twat. Agreed. The day he gets ousted from office is the day I celebrate.

Have ordered a pen or two thanks to @AnneinEdinburgh. Not wildly enthusiastic that one of the delivery options is through royal mail but hey ho. Time to do some work now to pay for it all!

RobinEllacotStrike · 14/08/2025 19:17

Its extraordinary that the President of the 2nd most neo-liberal country on earth has got involved in the pricing decisions of a pharmaceutical company!
