Mounjaro/Wegovy with > 5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 9!

1000 replies

MooBaggage · 08/07/2025 08:50

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you're on.

We have kiwis, hammocks, weight loss charts, an unhealthy obsession with Vinted and enough water to sink several ships 😊

No discount codes please - there's a separate thread for those.

@gimmemounjaro blimey, you look absolutely fantastic. Like @MooBaggage says, you're radiating health in those pics. Going by BMI I think you and I must be a similar height (I'm 5ft 8) and your starting and goal weights are so very similar to mine. If I look half as good as you when I make it to the 11s I will be deliriously happy.

Well done on crossing the 13st line @WeAllHaveWings !

gimmemounjaro · 09/08/2025 16:16

Thanks @GiveMeWordGames
You’re right, I’m 5’9 so BMI 23 at 11st 2. This is what’s coming for you!

Congrats on hitting 13st @WeAllHaveWings and thanks for the B12 advice a few weeks ago - my levels are right at the bottom of the extremely wide ‘normal’ range and although the GP’s advice was just to take supplements, I remembered what you said and have booked in for my first injection. BP is really annoying at the moment, 87/54 just now so I am very keen to get the B12 up and see if that helps. I have high hopes! 🤞

WeAllHaveWings · 09/08/2025 18:00

@gimmemounjaro make sure if you are taking B12 injections you have the essential cofactors too - you'll need your folate, iron, potassium (needs to be via food!) levels to be good.

If you have your blood test results try putting a post in the B12 wake up facebook group (put the blood results in the comments they don't like them in the main post) and they can give you advice before you start taking injections.

gimmemounjaro · 09/08/2025 18:13

Thank you @WeAllHaveWings
I will request the results and post them. Folate, iron and potassium were all ok, it was only B12 that was dodgy.

MooBaggage · 09/08/2025 19:08

@gimmemounjaro that is bonkersly low blood pressure! Mine was 86/56 yesterday in hospital post-op which is why they wouldn't let me go for ages! Took all day for it to climb to 100/70, which was good enough to escape 😁

I know, I feel pretty rough with it 😣
A known side effect of MJ unfortunately, but hopefully will clear up as I reduce the dose and up the B12 🤞

Hey folks, hope everyone is doing well.

@MooBaggage glad the op went ok and was a better experience than the last. @gimmemounjaro you look unbelievable!! Well done.

I'm just back from a week in Cornwall with the fam, which included a 12-mile walk, paddleboarding and a beach day. The step streak continues to say 94! I must say, I felt far better being that active than I would've 3 months ago, so another little NSV! In a golf comp with my other half tomorrow to round off the week.

I'm about to jump on the creatine/ collagen/multivit train. Can anyone recommend decent ones? Collagen wise, marine or bovine? So many choices...

Also was it the navy Nivea Q10 firming moisturiser for the crepe neck? Mine has begun 🙈

dimples76 · 09/08/2025 20:22

@gimmemounjaro what an incredible achievement. Well done! Hope that you are* feeling better soon.*

GiveMeWordGames · 09/08/2025 21:17

@Sam187 yes, that one and so far I'm liking it. I've also been using it on my upper arms as they're looking a bit crinkly too. 😖
I think i see a bit of a difference already. Even if it's my imagination it's a nice moisturiser anyway.

alltablenochairs · 09/08/2025 23:36

@gimmemounjaro how are you taking your b12? Orally or sublingual? I've never had much success taking it orally, despite the dose. I take it sublingually which is more effective. Warning, it may also turn your urine close to highlighter yellow depending on how much you take!

@MooBaggage hope you're feeling back to your normal self soon and not too ouchy.

Yes the Nivea Q10 firming body lotion. I bought thr dark blue bottle. It's been great for me, I really hope others get the same result.

I use ancient and brave true collagen powder. I've tried others but gone back to a&b, even though it's more expensive. I like the taste, and my hair loves this one.

MooBaggage · 10/08/2025 13:03

I weighed myself out of interest this morning as I still feel sore and swollen after Friday and I currently weigh 5lb more than I did before my op 🙄Just water retention and swollen stuff, so am ignoring it and hopefully it'll be back to normal by the end of this week!

OP posts:
Amarajean · 10/08/2025 14:50

@MooBaggage I'm glad your procedure went better! I'm sure you loose again when you're feeling better, like you said it's likely water retention.
I'm now down to 98 kg so I'm setting a mini-goal weight of 93kg by the end of August.
I'm back at the gym tomorrow thankfully. I had to take time off due to my osteoarthritis playing up.
Onwards and downwards!!

hellohellooo · 11/08/2025 11:34

12.5 since last week

Really awful vivid dreams
Constipation

I normally pass 💩 twice a day
Not gone in days
(Sorry tmi)

Will stick it out but it has been the first time I have really struggled

10mg was working quite well but I panicked a bit

Sorry I just don't know what to do

Darlinghag · 11/08/2025 11:44

Hello folks, sorry I skipped weigh in yesterday as I was away. However I weighed Saturday morning and was down half a pound, taking me to 13st 4.3lbs.

I’m definitely seeing body changes at the moment, which is quite nice! I think I am firmly moving into the size 16 category too - my 18s are too big on top for sure, and anything new there is a size 16 or even 14-16 for some tshirt types and then jeans wise - 18 is too big, and while I can get 16s on and zipped, they don’t fit comfortably, so making do for now! I bought 3 pairs ready from vinted 😂 2 are zipped but muffin topish, and 1 doesnt quite do up but is close, so that should keep me stocked the next few months!

@hellohellooo that sounds rough! Could you not just go back to 10 for now?

GiveMeWordGames · 11/08/2025 11:59

@hellohellooo that sounds rubbish. You could count clicks to revert to 10?

I am all over the place with sizes. My M&S size 20 pants (which were getting too small when I started) are definitely becoming too big but some old 18s lurking at the back of the underwear drawer feel a bit snug. I'm just about fitting into an old M&S 16 strappy dress but a newer 18 top from Sainsburys is still tight. Jeans I am firmly an 18 now, down from (tight, pushing it) 20.

I think a lot of this is more a comment on batshit women's sizing than anything else though.

Weigh and jab today, I'm 20 weeks in now. Starting 6th pen, 7.5. 5ft 8. Early 50s.

SW 17st 4
CW 14st 1.25
GW 11-12 st

So I'm just over halfway, having lost 44.75lbs so far. Almost no longer obese....😃

MabelSpan · 11/08/2025 12:02

Hi everyone!

Its my 1 year anniversary on MJ today.
52 weeks of counting cals, fibre, protein and eating 30 plants a week. My diet has never been so good!

Today I will have my 53rd jab, at the heady height of 4.66mg! I have actually decreased my dose recently from 4.83mg, as its dawned on me that I have never really felt suppression, I have always eaten a full meal and hit my calorie target without a struggle, so I figured as long as the food noise stays away I might as well see how low I can go and still lose weight.

Here are my stats for my first year on MJ
SW - 20st 3lbs, Aug 24
CW - 14st 3.4lbs, Aug 25
Loss over a year - 5 stone 13.6lbs
Ave wkly loss - 1.6lbs
BMI start - 41.8
BMI today - 29.2
% Body weight lost - 30%
Calorie intake - 1600 per day, calculated over the week.
Inches lost:
12" off tummy
12" off hips
7" off waist
6" off thigh
9.5" off bust
8" off under bust

I have no regrets about my decision to start MJ. It was hard at the beginning due to side effects of extreme low mood and tiredness. The tiredness slowly went and the low mood has got better but I am still a joyless Eeyore, Tigger has left the building. I hope to get my Tigger back one day and to feel happiness, joy and delight again. But I would rather this than weigh 20 stone+ again.

I have some saggy skin on my upper arms, lower tummy and thighs, but its not as bad as it could be, and I think it will be ok over time.

I hope to reach my goal in the next 6-12 months. I have just 2 stone 10.6lbs to go, but the goal may change up or down, depending on how I look, loose skin and whether my tummy will ever shrink enough!

If you are just starting, good luck, keep going and results will come.
Some weeks you will increase or sts, but the losses will happen if you just hang on in there and keep going.
Dont compare your losses to anyone elses, your body is yours and is unique to you, it will do its own thing in its own sweet time, you cant rush it, force it or change it, so just accept it and keep on keeping on.
Do that and you will get to your goal.

Thanks for being such a fab, supportive and fun group of peeps and thanks to my twinny @MooBaggage for keeping the thread going.

Now to shift the last 2 stone 13.4lbs...

I found that 12.5mg really didn’t agree with me and quickly went back down to 10mg and stayed there for months, never went any higher.

Have you tried kiwis for constipation, they’re pretty good. Or psyllium husk has also done the trick for me.

MooBaggage · 11/08/2025 13:14

@MabelSpan What a brilliant post and Happy Anniversary!! I'm sorry you've lost your Tigger though - is it an energy levels thing, do you think? Or a change in mood? I definitely feel flatter - but to be honest am quite happy that my moods have flattened out at the moment, as it's been a turbulent few years and I'm enjoying feeling calmer - but it's no good if the Tigger is completely flattened 😞

Very glad you're my SW twin - I'm losing at the same rate as you too, so am hopeful for a 6 stone loss over this year - I'm at week 30 (I think) today, so will just keep going...!

MooBaggage · 11/08/2025 13:31

@hellohellooo Yes maybe drop back down for a bit - see if things get back to normal? I put milled flaxseed in my fruit smoothies and protein drinks - definitely helps with the constipation! It's weird how different doses suddenly have an impact - when I moved up to 5mg I found it really hard going, but months later, 7.5mg is going really well. All a bit of a mystery...

Its not energy levels, though those could always be better, this is definitely low mood or rather no mood now. No highs, no lows, no emotions at all, just flatness. I agree that the flatness has its benefits, as I no longer feel upset by certain things, I can just ignore and carry on.
I do miss my Tigger, but Eeyore and I are at least friends now, we have learned to live together and we have an understanding that he will eventually move on and my Tigger will return once more!

You are doing so well! I was so annoyed (for a nano second, without actually feeling annoyed) that my weight went up for todays weigh in, meaning I couldnt say I had hit my 6 stone mark, but I had on Friday, honest! You will hit that and more I hope😊

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 11/08/2025 19:29

Pumpkinforever · 11/08/2025 14:48

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping I complained about the small belly thread too. I think it has been taken down.

Thank you @Pumpkinforever, it has. MNHQ initially gave me a very woolly response about how they would check if it broke any Talk Guidelines, so I did point out that literally the second one prohibits posts which break the law. I don’t think discussion which encourages posters to commit fraud would be tolerated on any other MN sub and I don’t see why this one should be any different.

Anyway. Something happier. I’m still reading all of your super victories and cheering you all on. I had a massive and very satisfying wardrobe clearout yesterday and have a huge basket of clothes to list on Vinted. I also found a vac bag at the back of the wardrobe containing a load of size 14 clothes which I probably stored around 2011. It all fits me now and I was particularly pleased to find some lovely work tops from Whistles from my pre-children days when I had a healthy disposable income. I also found the only mini-skirt I’ve ever owned, which I probably last wore when I was 21 and could never throw away, keeping it for the mythical day when I would once again be a size 14 and confident enough to wear it. Another 21 years later, that day has finally come; it fits, and although I’ll wait for cooler weather to wear it with thick opaque tights and boots I will do so with absolute joy!

NotsosunnyShropshire · 11/08/2025 19:39

After living with IBD and the associated symptoms of going to the loo 5 or 6 times before leaving for work every morning. I can honestly say, I had my first ever bad episode of constipation this morning. I was almost late for work I took so long.

I really must keep my fluid intake up!
