Mounjaro/Wegovy with > 5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 9!

1000 replies

MooBaggage · 08/07/2025 08:50

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you're on.

We have kiwis, hammocks, weight loss charts, an unhealthy obsession with Vinted and enough water to sink several ships 😊

No discount codes please - there's a separate thread for those.

The weather has been a little cooler the last few days and I have spent most of it being freezing cold. I even went to bed with thick walking boot socks on last night, they were that cold!

DH was a little shocked 😂

Zebracat · 03/08/2025 12:23

Gosh yes, my feet were also very cold last night.
Resisted the socks though!
I weigh every day and had a whoosh today, now 90.4 kilos which is under 200 pounds, I am pleased, it’s also only about 3 pounds to get under 14 st and that’s exciting. But then I checked my BMI and I’m still obese, need to lose 5 kilos to get to overweight. Seems a long way off. I know I should focus on what I have achieved , I am about half way to my goal of 75 kilos, in just over 3 months. And I’m not miserable, not starving, feeling fit and healthy and energetic , still having an icecream if I want one. I need to be a grateful zebra☺️
hah just thought- that it is only half a kilo to be in the 80s. That helps!

taylorswift1989 · 03/08/2025 13:20

Well done all on the losses and NSVs! I am doing okay but had a couple of weeks of letting things slide a bit... it's not that I went totally mad, but I think sometimes I just get bored of healthy eating! Was having a few too many treats and extras and I could feel that I was fighting against the MJ. Which is stupid because it's so expensive!! I need to keep that in mind and make sure I'm making the most of it. In fact, maybe it's better to have a week off once in a while rather than overeat/indulge while on it? I wonder if that might be a strategy to consider when it comes to maintenance?

Not that I'm anywhere near maintenance yet! Planning a weigh-in later this week so will update. I think I'm still losing, albeit slowly, as my clothes continue to feel looser. Although I still have one pair of jeans that I think are going to fit forever! They get baggier and baggier but still seem to fit!

mince3point14159265 · 03/08/2025 13:54

@Darlinghag so much of your post resonated with me, especially the varicose vein part 🫣. I knew there was one visible on the outside of my leg just above my knee but now you can see where it travels up across the front of my thigh and up into the groin; it looks bloody awful!
I'm still hoping that if I can maintain a much lower weight for an extended period of time that the loose skin will start to tone up and look less like a melted candle. I know my body looks hideous right now but I feel so much lighter moving around and doing stuff that I really don't care what I look like! 😂

I slightly ridiculous NSV for me was having to shorten the strap on the cross body bag I mostly use, as it was now slapping against my thigh and making a bruise! Opposite leg to the varicose vein leg so does that mean it gets cancelled out?! 🤣

I've finally gone up to 10mg after 4 months on 7.5. I feel like my losses have really slowed. Looking at my weight log, I first dipped under 12 stone on June 11 and I'm 11st 4lbs today, so only 9lbs in almost 2 months (I know, I know; a loss is still a loss!).
Hopefully the 10 will give me a bit of a kick again 🤞

QueenOfHiraeth · 03/08/2025 14:27

@taylorswift1989 someone has just asked a similar question in my supplier's FB group. Their answer was that you shouldn't skip a week as it is important to maintain steady blood levels. Having said that, I have heard of people in maintenance who found reducing a dose too challenging but extended their interval to 10 days from 7 but, in theory that is rollercoaster blood levels. Who knows?!

InfoSecInTheCity · 03/08/2025 15:05

@taylorswift1989i sometimes get bored of the healthy eating, what I’ve started to do is when I feel that coming I go to ChatGPT, give it a long list of foods I like, foods I don’t like, my requirements for 2 meals and 2 snacks a day, the maximum calorie count it can all come to and that I want it to be high protein, high fibre, low carb. Then I get it to create me a 7 day meal plan providing a shopping list, recipe cards with quantities and instructions. I don’t love everything it spits back but I usually get a couple of good ideas I can add in for variety.

I like that idea in theory but in practice I cannot deal with a meal plan! I never know what I'll feel like eating and for some reason (adhd) I just rebel against planning.

But! I could definitely adopt that idea on a more short-term basis, I.e. what can I have for tea today that will fit in my requirements, or give me a list of high protein snacks. So, thank you!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 03/08/2025 23:54

Happy Sunday. Here just checking in and catching up on your posts after my jab. Just did my first 10mg jab. Needed to move up as sadly in a 6 week weight stall. I'm stuck at 107kg. I am now 6months in.

Feeling really low and fed up about progress (over all great but last 2 months minimal). I have upped my exercise and at the gym x3 a week this week.

I hate calorie counting-not good approach for me for my mindset (which already notices impact of it) but have calculated TDEE and counted for 4-5 days to check and I am eating below required and am 500-600 below each day with 85-100g protein.

Literally have nothing to blame for lack of progress and thoroughly disappointed plus worried it's stopped working for me and I’ll be stuck here, forever dieting and hating my body.

Tonight did 10mg but I have moved jab location higher up my abdomen as keep bruising and though I needed a newer freasher site. Not sure what I did but 3/4 way through the liquid collected under skin and pushed needle out.
I chose a different site for the last bit in the dose and hope it will be ok. Honestly not sure what happened.

Anyone else? Struggling with bruises after?
Anyone able to reassure me this stall will end soon 🙄😩

TryingAgainAgainAgain · 04/08/2025 06:50

I've had two long stalls, @Reginaphalangeeeee, and think I'm finally losing again, but jesus it's frustrating isn't it.

Two things jumped out of your post - that's a lot below your TDEE, and if you're doing cardio at the gym 3x a week while under, that's a lot of stress on your body. Which it seems can stall you. Raising your calories could possibly break the stall, as counterintuitive as it sounds. Worth considering.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 04/08/2025 07:31

Thanks @TryingAgainAgainAgain I have only just got back into the gym regularly as exercises had slipped a bit. Made a conscious effort to reignite it this week, but mostly strength training feather than cardio.

Also initial stall I believe triggered by period (which was late) & during this time I had snacked a bit more so just tried to rein it it again. The last 2 weeks I have been more strict than I had previously.

I have been on 7.5mg for 2 pens and don't feel they have worked well for me. Hoping 10mg will

MabelSpan · 04/08/2025 10:13

Hi everyone, hope you are all well.

Weigh in and jab day for me.
I have decreased my MJ to 4.66mg/0.56mls from my highest dose of 4.83mg/0.58mls. I did it because I wanted to see if it made any difference and it hasnt, so I will stick at this new lower level for as long as the food noise stays away, I may even drop further to 4.5mg. I have never really had supression, just no noise, which has always been the reason for my bad relationship with food, it was my brain, not my belly, that made me fat.

SW - 20st 3lbs 14th Aug 24
CW - 14st 3.6lbs! 4th Aug 25
WL - 2.6lbs!
Ave wkly loss 1.6lbs since starting.
I am going to start working out a new weekly average from next week for this final stint.

It is my 1yr anniversary next Monday and I am so close to 6 stone loss, just 4oz away! I hope to get there next week and will be very cross if I go up!

I was shocked by my losses over the last couple of weeks as I have increased my calories to min 1600 average over the week, as I want to try and keep my BMR as high as possible.

Whilst here I just wanted to thank everyone for their contributions to these threads, I love reading all your posts, seeing your progress, your highs, lows, frustrations, nsvs and everything in between.

It is a lovely little group we have here and very special as no one who hasnt been as overweight as we were when we began could ever understand the complexities, emotions, struggles and bloody determination it has taken us to get to where we all are now, wherever that may be on your personal path.

You are all incredible, strong and funny!

So keep being wonderful, every one of you 😊

MooBaggage · 04/08/2025 10:20

@Reginaphalangeeeee I am impressed with your mental strength re: stalling - I haven't lost anything for the past 10 days and am already going bonkers - feels like 10 sodding weeks...

I'm 7 months in and the weight has definitely slowed down over the past few weeks - so frustrating when I'm only around halfway there, but the 2nd half of weight loss will probably take a year, not 6 months 🙄

But.... it will happen - I do at least have faith that eventually the weight will shift - even if it's at a more sedate rate! Really hope you get through your stall asap.

@MabelSpan Hello SW twin 😀

Keep forging ahead and giving me hope - I love seeing your figures, knowing my SW was the same, so it is possible to get to wherever you are in time - hurrah!

Great that you're still losing on a reduced dose - how much more do you reckon you want to lose - are you nearly there?

At the moment I think I want to get to 11st 7lbs. That gives me a BMI of 23.6. But my body is much larger around the middle/belly area this time around, (I am 56, peri meno still) so I might have to go lower. It will all depend on how I look, how my skin is coping etc.

I have always tried to keep my cals as high as possible and be happy with a lb a week loss, though I know that this is likely to slow up anytime now.

2 stone 10lbs to go!

You are doing fantastically my lovely SW twin 😊

GiveMeWordGames · 04/08/2025 12:48

@Reginaphalangeeeee I wish I had some stall-busting advice for you but I'll just offer you solidarity and wishes for a whoosh soon. Also fingers crossed for a whoosh for you @MooBaggage too.

After my exciting scales dip to 14st 3.75, I settled at 14st 4 for the last few days so exactly 3 stone off.

Aw, @MabelSpan that's lovely and your progress after a year is inspiring!

Pharmacy appointment day today, and I'm staying at 7.5 since it seems to be working. Pharmacist was happy with where I am and the rate I'm losing at. Also they've dropped their prices to closer to what the online places are charging which is nice so I'm £20 a month better off.

First "have you lost weight?" comment yesterday - from my Mum! She sees me almost every week and therefore knows full well that I've been avoiding biscuits and cakes etc but just wanted to check that I was trying ie that I don't have some sinister condition. Bless her.

Darlinghag · 04/08/2025 12:50

ok, so shopping update!!

I am in size 16 jeans!!!! Some styles were a tiny bit too tight, but they were on and zipped up! Some were totally fine! Absolutely wild to me that i got here! Everything I tried on yesterday was a size 16 and how novel was it to try things on and discard them because they didn’t feel or look right, rather than because they didn’t fit at all!!! Even a couple instances on my top half of a size 16 being too big. Shopping yesterday was just so completely different, I never believed that I would have this experience!

RobinEllacotStrike · 04/08/2025 12:52

Another kilo off this morning - now 86 kilos, which is about 13 1/2 stone - this means I have lost 6 stone now (started late July 2024)

SW 124kg
CW 86kg
Loss to date 38 kilos
SBMI 41 "morbidly obese"
CBMI 28.7 "overweight"

GW 74kg
GBMI "healthy" > 25

on the fancy scales my visceral fat is now in the green & standard. My body type is now "standard muscular" - previously obese!

On body image - I can see my "standard muscular" body and it seems to have pockets of fat all around it. Underneath is muscle & on top is lots of wobbly bits especially belly, inner thighs, back of arms. Also loose skin in these spots.
I don't expect to lose large amount of weight in my late 50's and have a perfect body. I'm ok with my body & I accept all the wobbly bits. Strangely nearly all the cellulite on my legs has disappeared and the backs of my thighs are remarkably toned - pity I rarely if ever see them 🤣

RobinEllacotStrike · 04/08/2025 12:55

that sounds like a fun shopping session @Darlinghag & many congrats on the sz 16 jeans!

I must confess to buying most clothes online. I'm starting to think I could be enticed to going to the shops for actual clothes shopping one day.

@InfoSecInTheCity Amazing - very, very nearly there! Are you going to celebrate in some way?!

I'm having a mini stall - 2 x weeks at the same weight. Grrrrr....! 🙄

Am weighing every day and will sodding well MAKE those scales move - but not today!

OP posts:
AnneinEdinburgh · 05/08/2025 08:55

I'm having a mega stall, about a month of up and down the same 2lbs sigh. Up to 15mg and so far without side effects except constipation. Very excitingly my local pharmacy has started dispending MJ and even better the pharmacist is on it. It feels much safer going down the road for a chat, a comparison of progress and to pick up a pen straight from their fridge to mine. It is £175 for 15mg but that isn't far off any other pharmacy and no more waiting in for parcels and trying to decide what to do about packs that have thawed. Here's hoping for a woosh when the constipation evacuates! Even kiwis are failing me.

Onwards and downwards all!

MooBaggage · 05/08/2025 09:12

@AnneinEdinburgh Boo to stalls! they're so bloody annoying.... Fingers crossed we both have a 'whoosh' soon 💪

OP posts:
GiveMeWordGames · 05/08/2025 09:18

@AnneinEdinburgh it's a nice way to do it, isn't it? I was paying a bit more but I'm not now. I hope your stall resolves soon, and you @MooBaggage .

The rather uninspiring recent weather is making me ponder what my lunches at home will look like in Autumn & Winter. I started MJ pretty much on the dot of the Spring equinox and it's been largely 'cold lunch food' weather ever since. Pre MJ, wintery lunches tended to be a bowl of pasta, or - fresh, supermarket - soup and a roll. Neither of these are much cop for protein-not-carbs. I hate lentils in soup so that's NOT happening. Beany soups, maybe. I've got a while to figure it out, anyway. Any suggestions welcome 🙂 (but not using ChatGPT).

AnneinEdinburgh · 05/08/2025 09:30

@GiveMeWordGames living in tropical Scotland I am still on fairly winter weather lunches. Home made chowder crops up a lot - smoked fish, bacon, cream, those pots of jelly fish stock, new potatoes, sweetcorn and lots of leeks and onions. Tortilla works well and is nice cold as well as warm. Warm salads at home - black pudding and apple, bacon and avocado, chicken, bacon and .... Beany casseroles in the slow cooker a bit like cassolet to which any sort of meaty protein can be added.

I hope all these stalls go away! I need to cut down on the carbs a bit more and up the water. I am doing lots of aquafit and swimming. I thought I was doing really well with the aquafit until I realised that the old ladies who tend to make up most of the group carried on after I left for work, and did deep aquafit followed by normal followed by a spinning class on bikes in the pool and did this most days. Hope I'm that energetic at that age!

I am however in my first pair of size 14 jeans today (I started off in October in 20s) - ok they are very wide legged and the waist is snug but I can breathe and that makes it worthwhile!

MooBaggage · 05/08/2025 09:43

@GiveMeWordGames that is a very good question!

I'm thinking roast dinners - but without the carbs?! So roast chicken and veg with gravy and then using the chicken leftovers for lunches. Same with other meats (but are you a veggie...?).

I like to air fry halloumi slices and have them on spinach with some greek yoghurt -it's quite nice having hot halloumi slices on spinach, weirdly...

I like to do one tray roasts - so chicken thighs/legs with roast veggies are yum (it's possible I'm chicken obsessed...).

Stews will be nice in the winter - beef stews with lots of veg - just no/less carbs.

I got bought a Ninja multi-thingy last year as a flat warming present and the only setting I haven't used on it so far is the slow cooker - so I need to try that and do some slow cooked stews!
