MooBaggage · 08/07/2025 08:50

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you're on.

We have kiwis, hammocks, weight loss charts, an unhealthy obsession with Vinted and enough water to sink several ships 😊

No discount codes please - there's a separate thread for those.

so good to read that people have done it as I’ve been 2st down many many times before… I’m really hoping MJ makes the difference this time!!

W4D3 and after being an absolute angel up to this point I just had a kids sausage and chips from the chippy. Partner and daughter were getting it and I couldn't be arsed to cook for 1 in this heat.
My first greasy, carby meal so pary for me please! I haven't had any gastro (or other really) side effects so far ...

Fingers crossed you'll be ok. I've actually never had a SE problem with carbs and fats, although I obviously don't fancy them as much. Caramelised onions, on the other hand....!

Amarajean · 19/07/2025 05:57

So,quite frustrated at myself just now. I seem to have got rid of one addiction re food and I've replaced it with a gym addiction!!
I go the gym everyday bar Sunday but I also exercise at home aswell.
I mean I woke up at 4am just to exercise before I go the gym and I know later on in the day after the gym,I'll be exercising again.
It's all I think about lately which is weird because I haven't done any exercise for over 10 years! Anyone any ideas on how I could cut down without feeling guilty?

taylorswift1989 · 19/07/2025 08:32

Oh that does sound a bit excessive @amarajean The trouble with any addiction is the way it takes us out of control of our body and behaviours. It is usually a distraction or coping mechanism. So I guess you have used food as a way of coping with your feelings and now without that ability to eat, you are scared of being overwhelmed by your feelings. So you sublimate them into something else - in this case, exercise.

On the one hand, if this works for you, that's good! But on the other hand, it sounds like you need some other outlet for your emotions because getting up early to exercise before the gym is definitely not a good idea!

Have you ever tried journaling? I know it sounds very basic, but spending 20 minutes every morning writing about your fears, sorrows etc can really help move those emotions out of your body and make you better able to cope. You can set a timer, then rage on the page for 20 minutes, then rip it up and forget it. It might be worth trying.

I'm sure other people will have suggestions or advice, but that is what came to mind for me. You'll get through this but be patient and gentle with yourself.

Just wanted to wish you luck and to let you know it can be done. You have done great to lose two stones already . I started in May 2024 and have now lost 9 stone. Have lost weight many times before but this time I knew I could do it as I wasn’t fighting hunger and food noise all the time. I just took it a stone at a time and kept plodding. With that food focus switched off it makes losing weight so much easier.

WeAllHaveWings · 19/07/2025 11:16

Saturday weigh in and injection day today. 2lb loss this week.

End of week - 56 (5 x 2.5mg, 51 x 3.75mg)
SW - 21st 5lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 13st 3lbs BMI 27.7
Losses (2024) - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3,1,4,0
Losses (2025) - 0,3,2,1,3,1,1,0,2,3,3,-1,3,2,2,1,2,2,1,1,0,3,0,1,2,1,3,0,2
Total loss - 8st 02lbs (114lbs), 38.1%
Next Target 🎯- 13st

I've been oddly appetite suppressed last couple of days, not felt like eating at all, making meals and then just don't want to eat them.

I haven't felt suppression like it since the first couple of months of WLIs, I usually only get my food noise/cravings turned down and it helps with portion control. Maybe I am coming down with a bug or something...

WeAllHaveWings · 19/07/2025 11:31

@Amarajean Anyone any ideas on how I could cut down without feeling guilty?

Any good fitness routine should include rest days that is when your body recovers and grows stronger, when it is at rest is when the progress happens. You also should be making sure you are getting enough sleep consistently (no 4am exercises unless you are going to sleep at 8pm!) as again that is when your body does the work to repair muscles and build strength.

Over training can hinder your results and increase your risk of injuring yourself. Can you reframe rest days as positive parts of your routine?

Perhaps swap your exercising in the gym 2-3 days a week for some outdoor easy walking listening to podcasts, gentle yoga, or meditation, or even something crafty like crochet to relax - keep reminding yourself rest is also an important part of your fitness routine.

WeAllHaveWings · 19/07/2025 11:40

@Darlinghag My B belly is annoying me too just now. I am comfortable in a size 16 jean and edging towards buying 14's to have in my wardrobe ready to try on.

But tops are still size 20, swing style to hide my upper B which is soft, squishy, wobbly like a hanging half filled water balloon. Hope some weight will still go from that area or I'll need to buy myself some corsets!

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 19/07/2025 11:46

@Amarajean I have an Oura Ring and it tells me when I need to rest and when I am ready to do more and it adjusts my daily targets to suit. Maybe something like that might help. It monitors my sleep too. I find it helpful.

WeAllHaveWings · 19/07/2025 11:47

@Pumpkinforever when you air fry your salmon does it stink out the house/air fryer? I love salmon but dh hates it and the smell so I have been putting off doing it in the air fryer incase the whole house smells fishy. I usually just poach it tightly in tin foil after my previous attempts at grilling and pan frying stank the house out for an entire week each time 🤣

Mounjaronewbie25 · 19/07/2025 12:24

Hi everyone, just checking in with my weekly weigh in results.

Highest weight - 16st 9.5
Mounjaro SW on 15.2.25 - 14st 12
CW - 11st 5

Loss this week: 1 lb
Total loss on Mounjaro: 49 lbs (3st 7)
Total loss overall: 74.5 lbs (5st 4.5)

Reaching this weight is significant as it was my starting weight the first time I joined Slimming World (nearly 15 odd years ago 🙈) madness. Probably like a lot of people every time I re-joined Slimmingworld I was a bit heavier than my previous starting weight and vowed I would never be that heavy again. Flipping love Mounjaro!

gimmemounjaro · 19/07/2025 12:43

Weigh day for me today:

SW: 241.2 lbs / 17st 3 / BMI 35.6
CW: 161.1 lbs / 11st 7 / BMI 23.8
GW(tbc): 150 lbs / 10st 10 / BMI 22.2

This week -1.1lbs
Total -80.1 lbs / 5st 10

Two weeks in a row losing which is a change from the usual gain/lose roller coaster. I wish I could figure out what I’ve been doing right! 🤷‍♀️

InfoSecInTheCity · 19/07/2025 12:49

Well as expected post holiday weigh in caused a sharp in take of breath before my brain took control and remembered that it is temporary and water retention not fat.

Now to hit the water and eat more vegetable to bring it back down.

NotsosunnyShropshire · 19/07/2025 12:49

Can anyone recommend some decent electronic weighing scales? I bout some cheap ones from Amazon, but they’re getting quite temperamental.

Currently having a sort out through my clothes. I’m keeping a large bag of some just in case, as they are quality brands and quite expensive. Some are even still new with tags on.

I’ve bought a new winter coat on Vinted for an absolute bargain price. Would have been rude not to. Will maybe send my larger one to the charity shop, but it’s a Seasalt one, so again, it was expensive. We’ll see.

I definitely need some new underwear. Will go shopping when it’s pay day.

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 19/07/2025 13:12

@NotsosunnyShropshire no idea
about the accuracy as I have only used my scales and not checked them against drs/gym scales to verify, but i do like my rhenpo smart scales. I do take some of the info with a pinch of salt, but I like that they have an app and record your progress trends and you can add your measurements into it too.

gimmemounjaro · 19/07/2025 13:26

@NotsosunnyShropshire These ones had a bit of a moment on a previous thread, a few of us have them - there’s an app and they measure all sorts of interesting stuff like bone mass and various different types of fat.

MooBaggage · 19/07/2025 13:33

Well I weighed this morning and am delighted that I've stayed the same! Had a lovely holiday - didn't go too bonkers, but ate and drank more than usual, so I'm very pleased with that 😃

Back on it today, with lots of water and will tackle the hand weights later today.

If you put the salmon in a foil parcel with the ends sealed, then put it into the air fryer, it keeps the smells contained/reduced.

QueenOfHiraeth · 19/07/2025 14:02

@WeAllHaveWings I bought a Tupperware thingy many years ago that is amazing for salmon. You put the salmon in it, cover with boiling water and leave for 20minutes then drain. The salmon is always delicious and always moist (I hate it when it goes even vaguely dry) and there is no smell at all.
You can also use this thing to cook rice and other things. I believe you ccan use the same principle to cook salmon in a pan

gimmemounjaro · 18/07/2025 18:01

Who can tell me about skin brushing, I’m sure someone has mentioned it, is it you @RobinEllacotStrike?
I feel like I need to start taking better care of my skin 🤔

Yes I have been doing this for several months now.

pre shower using a natural bristle brush, long brushing all over body in direction of heart.

shower & moisturiser

start gently.

I brush quite vigorously now and really look forward to it. It feels great. I’m fairly low maintenance but I am enjoying adding this new habit to my shower routine

WeAllHaveWings · 19/07/2025 14:13

Thanks @neveroutofthekitchen @QueenOfHiraeth, wrapping tightly in foil with lemon/dill or teriyaki sauce, or poaching is how I usually do it, but prefer it seared/grilled and never managed to do it without the smell.

OnwardsDownwards · 19/07/2025 14:26

Well my scales are stubbornly staying the same, but I have reached my first non scale target - wedding ring is back on! Haven’t worn it in 2+ years…

I use Renpho scales. I don’t know how accurate all the extra measurements they give are. But I find them consistent, they link to my phone with no faff, and give me a nice graph to check! They also do a body measuring tape which links to the same app, but that did not survive my toddler…

alltablenochairs · 19/07/2025 20:04

I dont eat salmon but when I do it for the kids and DH I wrap it in greaseproof paper, add a dash of lemon juice (or a slice of fresh lemon) and some pepper. I then wrap the whole lot in foil. Stick it in the oven for 30 mins. Alternatively it cooks really well in an instant pot. Cooking rack in the bottom of the IP, top it up with water to the bottom of the rack, piece of paper on the rack and then 3 frozen salmon fillets on the paper. Set for 22 mins on high pressure initially.

And yes, dishwasher salmon is also a thing and yes, I tried it. Mainly as an experiment for the kids to prove it could be done. Take your salmon fillets, wrap it in a few layers of tin foil, put it on the top rack of the dishwasher without any other plates and set the dishwasher on the hottest cycle. Takes about 45 mins.

MooBaggage · 20/07/2025 09:39

The scales are showing a 1lb loss today, which is unexpected, but I'll take!

13.1.25 SW 20 st 3lbs BMI 43
20.7.25 CW 16 st 4lbs. BMI 34.6

1lb away from the 4 stone loss mark 😀

Onwards and downwards....

I did the Adrienne beginners yoga this morning and it felt difficult but good. One of my targets is to be able to get down on the floor to play without the kids without thinking about getting back up again! When I was preparing to adopt I was on a mission to get fitter and also acquire skills that I thought would be useful as a parent. One thing I wanted to do was to learn how to ice skate. I managed one lesson - mostly hanging on to the side or the instructor for dear life! I think one of the main things holding me back was not worrying about getting hurt but how to get up after falling. Maybe, I will try again at the end if the year ...that said I had a bad fall (running down a grassy slope) 5 years ago and now have metal work in my ankle so probably am more scared of falling.
