MooBaggage · 08/07/2025 08:50

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you're on.

We have kiwis, hammocks, weight loss charts, an unhealthy obsession with Vinted and enough water to sink several ships 😊

No discount codes please - there's a separate thread for those.

Side effects... I am wk 2 day 3 and I had some horrible side effects last night (throwing up, diarrhea) after no side effects bar some tiredness last week... It settled a bit with pepto bismol but still not fully OK... What has worked for you to alleviate the symptoms and also to prevent them? Any tips welcomed as I will have to stop the wli if they persist and I am already progressing so much in 2 weeks.

For me it's been taking a smaller dose, so counting the clicks to get 1.25mg and then work up from there.

The medication level increases in the body for 3-4 weeks after you start (or go up a dose) so you would likely have close to your highest level a couple of days after your next injection.

You can also take electrolytes in your water to offset the diarrhoea etc.

Everdecreasingcircle · 16/07/2025 17:20

Thanks @RobinEllacotStrike it has taken time but worth it. It is quite strange how people react to a slimmer you. Just want to let everyone know that big weight losses can be done just keep plodding on. This stuff works.

QueenOfHiraeth · 16/07/2025 20:43

@Darlinghag and anybody else who may be interested.
I have 2 black Enell sports bras bought from Boobydoo, one is size 5 and one size 6 but, sadly my boobs have deserted me! There is a sizing guide linked on the page here. I currently measure just under 38 band but the 5 still fits there so I would go more by the booby measurement if the two don't coincide.
Enell are proper heavy duty things, expensive and not pretty but ideal for the larger of nork and really long lasting. I'm happy to post them on if wanted as I suspect they'd be mistaken for some strange fetish gear and discarded by charity shops Grin

I tried MJ last year, terrible side effects. Now I’m fine on it.

Main difference is I’m eating cleaner. Not perfect! Nothing greasy, very limited oil/butter/etc. No white carbs (I do have things like seeded bread, but small portions). Lots of protein. Drinking lots of water - around 2L a day.

I also eat more - if I feel nauseous I make myself eat something (having cooked chicken available is good for this). I make sure I have three meals so I don’t get to that point. I’ve had a slightly dodgy tummy a couple of times, but no vomiting or diarrhoea.

QueenOfHiraeth · 16/07/2025 22:12

@OnwardsDownwards Good advice. I said to someone recently that MJ was a bit like pregnancy, I'm nauseous whenever I'm hungry so planning meals is key for me

Haha, last time I was exhausted on it, that was definitely like pregnancy!

I’ve also gone slowly - 2.5 was fine, I did 4 weeks on 3.75 before going up to 5, and that’s been fine now. Last time I went from 2.5 straight to 5 and had to quit.

Jfw82 · 17/07/2025 10:20

Today is my 1yr anniversary of starting and I’ve lost 95.8lbs in the last year and seen my BMI come down from 36.4 to 21.4. I’d like to lose 4.2lbs more to get to 100lbs down and BMI 20.7

i would never have believed it was possible a year ago - even BMI 25 seemed optimistic then. I’m planning to reduce doses slowly and see how I feel/what happens with weight to see if i stop completely. I do know I’ve really changed my eating habits (when hungry nothing sweet straight to protein!) Good luck to all earlier on on their journey 😁

MooBaggage · 17/07/2025 10:30

@Jfw82 that's amazing - congratulations and happy anniversary!! 😍. You must feel so much healthier now - even with 54lbs off and another 50lbs+ to go, I can feel such a huge difference to my health.

Just a few lbs for you to go - what a year for you! 😊💪

Wow!! What an inspiration! You must be unrecognisable!

Everdecreasingcircle · 17/07/2025 12:11

Wow @Jfw82 thats brilliant 🤩 well done.

Darlinghag · 17/07/2025 16:08

@QueenOfHiraeth i think they might be the wrong size for me unfortunately - i think by the measurements I would be a 3 or a 4. Thank you though!!

Amarajean · 17/07/2025 17:36

@Jfw82 well done on your massive weight loss. That's just amazing, did you add exercise with your healthy eating plan? Only I'm seven months in and only just started exercising, which means I've only lost 3.5 stone with 5 stone still to go until target weight!.
Sw-121kg
Cw-99kg
Tw- 70kg
Looking at it it doesn't seem too long to go I guess.
Can't wait until I'm in bmi25 like you!

MooBaggage · 17/07/2025 17:43

Last full day of my week with the boys and I've cracked a bit today - which is ridiculous because I realise I haven't eaten anything decent today, so have been nibbling on tortilla crisps and had some cake while we were out 🙄 It's scary how quickly all the good habits can disappear when I'm out of my usual routines....

Bloody good job we're heading home in the morning and I will be reunited with my beloved hand weights 😀

Jfw82 · 17/07/2025 17:44

@Amarajeani actually started exercise first and was doing weekly personal training since April last year. I was getting fitter but no weight movement so decided to add MJ. I now still do weekly PT but also 1-2 other gym sessions a week and the occasional 5k. I’m a lot fitter as well as thinner and feeling great for it!

sopsmu · 17/07/2025 23:06

Can I join you all? I started in the middle of April and 3 months on have lost (drumroll!!) 41lbs. My bmi is still 34 though so have a long way to go but clothes are starting to feel a bit looser. I think I was in denial so whilst I was wearing size 18’s I was bursting out of them, barely able to bend down and put my socks on. I would say I am a 16 now (but am still wearing the same old 18’s!!). I am struggling to eat enough - I don’t get much enjoyment from food anymore and never really want anything…..someone said they were struggling to drink enough - that is me too.

Amarajean · 18/07/2025 06:27

@sopsmu welcome.youll get lots of support here and everyone's lovely.
Congratulations on your weight loss that's really impressive.

MooBaggage · 18/07/2025 08:00

Hello @sopsmu 😊

That's a great weight loss so far! My BMI is also 34 now, having started at 43, so I know what you mean re: things starting to feel so much easier!

I also struggle to eat properly sometimes - I prioritise protein, even if that's a protein shake if I'm feeling a bit nauseous (my favourite is a chocolate protein one from Tesco - I add a dessert spoon of cocoa powder, some milk and lots of ice - blend it up and it tastes like a McDonald'smilk shake 😁). Chicken is my go to food - chicken thighs with honey and soy sauce if I can be bothered to cook, or chicken nuggets if I can't!

I've found I enjoy food more if I can add flavour - so sometimes a blob of cranberry sauce to give a sweet tang, or soy sauce for saltiness helps.

Re: drinking - I add a tiny splash of lime cordial (Tesco has a really nice one that's sugar free and really tangy) to water, as I struggled to drink enough plain tap water. Or a few shakes of lime juice helps. I mix it up and start with 1 - 2 litres of tap water with lime and then have a pint of sparkling water with lime after that.

Sounds daft but using a different glass for the sparkling water and lime seems to work too - makes it a treat?!

Back from holiday, have eaten lots of foods I don’t usually eat, but not in the quantity I would have last year. I have barely drank any water so expecting a weight gain but also know that it will be a temporary blip.

We had a wonderful time, spent way too much money, filled the car with bags and bags of souvenirs and arcade prizes and I have the customary t-shirt shaped sunburn.

4hr drive home this morning (DH doesn’t drive), been home for an hour and a half, the first wash is on the line, bags are all unpacked, DD has gone out to play with her friends and dole out Scarborough Sticks of Rock like Willy Wonka and I’m sorting through the photos on my phone so I can get print outs for in laws when we go to the supermarket tonight.

I feel like if I actually stop and sit down I might just fall asleep for 18 hrs so gonna keep moving and doing till this evening when I’ll catch up on the thread.

Pumpkinforever · 18/07/2025 15:49

Know how you feel @sopsmu I reckon I was stretching my size 20 tents I just ignored the fact I was getting bigger and bigger. I have cleared out all my clothes bigger than a size 16, got rid of everything that says extra large.

I have one of the Arla, or similar, yoghurt pouches everyday for a protein burst. I am careful with cheese though as I bite is never enough. I do air fry a chicken breast or salmon every day.

NotsosunnyShropshire · 18/07/2025 17:37

I’m now on my first 7.5mg pen and had my second jab of it. Far fewer side effects than previous pens so far.

Like others, I have now learned that I feel nauseous because I’m probably hungry.
Also, whilst my mind still wants a ‘treat’ such as chocolate, if I have it it’s tooth achingly sweet now so I can’t eat more than a bite or two.

People are finally noticing the 2 stones I have lost and commenting. Had one question on how, but I was very vague in my reply.

I still have may 4-5 more stones to lose, but I’m loving browsing smaller sizes on Vinted.

gimmemounjaro · 18/07/2025 18:01

Who can tell me about skin brushing, I’m sure someone has mentioned it, is it you @RobinEllacotStrike?
I feel like I need to start taking better care of my skin 🤔

Emas82 · 18/07/2025 18:04

W4D3 and after being an absolute angel up to this point I just had a kids sausage and chips from the chippy. Partner and daughter were getting it and I couldn't be arsed to cook for 1 in this heat.
My first greasy, carby meal so pary for me please! I haven't had any gastro (or other really) side effects so far ...

Darlinghag · 18/07/2025 20:52

🚨🚨🚨

I have noticed a change in my B belly!!! Hope remains!!!

I’ve got a decent sized apron and B belly combo. Its shrunk, but up until now, its been an even distribution of loss. But today, I am noticing the upper portion is definitely shrinking more, its hard to describe but the top half of the top half has almost flattened out?

I’m super pleased - I’m more conscious of my b belly than my apron - I hate the way a lot of trousers that are stylish now often force my waistband to curl or find a home in that b - ruins my vibe 😂😂
