New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you're on.

We have kiwis, hammocks, weight loss charts, an unhealthy obsession with Vinted and enough water to sink several ships 😊

No discount codes please - there's a separate thread for those.

A question for the seasoned MJ users, have you found anything that helps with the bloat? I've got found it terrible or uncomfortable, but I do currently look 6 months pregnant 🤦

I haven't experienced bloating specifically but taking a daily probiotic with digestive enzymes literally eliminated all gastric side effects for me.

Thanks. I haven't had any side effects really, not that I can definitely pin on MJ anyway. Like I said it's not uncomfortable I just feel "puffy" in the tummy area!

Thank you for the Yoga chat - I’m going to start this evening. If I could do something at home 3-4 times a week, that would be grand, and then I can feel more confident about a class in a couple of months! Looking at Adriene’s videos; I think there’s quite a lot I can start with!

I do need a sports bra though 🤪

RobinEllacotStrike · 15/07/2025 11:20

Yay @Darlinghag
Start gently & enjoy. It might be a big uncomfy at first but things do progress fairly quickly.
I don't wear a strong sports bra for yoga. I'm fairly large of nork, and I wear stretchy bra top things under a vest or "sport" style bra tops but I wouldnt jog in them. You won't be jumping around or anything so you won't need anything too supportive or structured.

I have these which are OK:

Aside from all the physical benefits, the breathing you will learn, and the relaxation/mind stuff is so supportive & beneficial too.

Thank you - I’ll take a look. I’m a 36G usually so things can be a bit jiggly even with gentle movement! Less important at home I guess!

Yes, I am hopeful I can get those stress benefits too. i have started doing a bit more with my weekday evenings - I’ve started an arts class once a week which I genuinely love, and if I could put a fitness class of some kind in too, it will feel good. And help with my doom scrolling on my phone of an evening!!

RobinEllacotStrike · 15/07/2025 12:31

I currently have no idea what my bra size is - mystery

RobinEllacotStrike · 15/07/2025 12:32

NVS I saw a woman on the beach this moring I haven't seen in a while.
She nearly introduced herself to me and then her jaw dropped!

Emas82 · 15/07/2025 13:04

There's someone on the July starters chat who seems a bit holier than thou, wondering if it may well be the woman you guys were talking about the other day? The one whose husband was on WLI but she wasn't?

dimples76 · 15/07/2025 18:09

I am feeling quite inspired by this yoga chat. I am worried about how to keep up my exercise during the school hols so looking at options to do at home for free. My mindset towards exercise has changed a lot over the last year. My sessions with my personal trainer are one of the highlights of my week. Never thought that I'd write that sentence.

I decided to take the full 7.5mg dose yesterday and I am regretting it! I went up to 7.5 about 6 weeks ago and after a bad response to my first higher dose (feeling low and crying a lot) I have been taking lower doses from the pen. Last week though I didn't really feel any effects from the jab (good or bad) hence going back up. Now though I feel really nauseous. Hopefully it will pass soon....

OnwardsDownwards · 15/07/2025 20:45

@dimples76 I hope it settles for you. Finding the right balance is difficult.

I have to go to an Indian/Nepalese restaurant at the weekend. Would normally be 100% me but not sure what will work for me at the moment. I guess just something dry from the grill, unless anyone has any other suggestions!

I like the idea of yoga too. I’ve dropped my gym subscription to twice a week as really busy at the moment, and weirdly I am missing it! I might try to add one of the kids ones in to our summer holiday routine.

gimmemounjaro · 15/07/2025 20:54

I’m going out for Thai food tomorrow - just been looking at the menu online and the main courses are anything from 240kcal to over 1200! I could easily eat two days worth of food in an hour if I don’t keep my wits about me 😬

GiveMeWordGames · 15/07/2025 20:55

@OnwardsDownwards I would definitely either go for something marinated and grilled or a tomato-based curry like a Jalfrezi (unless you're worried about spice)

alltablenochairs · 15/07/2025 21:06

2 slightly unorthodox NSV tonight. I'm 32.5kg down since starting MJ last October.

1st one probably belongs in Sporner corner so being guarded...... but I have a 'patch' on my back thats needed 'attention' for a while now. I haven't been able to reach it but now I can. Reeeeeeeesult.

The second one is more funny than anything but the facial recognition on my phone no longer works. Apparently I am a completely different person than the person who set up the facial recognition. Nope, still the same person. Thankfully I have other means of logging into my phone and have managed to reset it. Even more thankfully my passport doesn't expire until 2027 so at least I will have hopefully finished my MJ journey by then and have a reasonable photo on it

Darlinghag · 15/07/2025 21:38

So I did the yoga, omg its hard!! I did that exact video, and while I could do about 60% of it - while resolutely not feeling the things I probably am supposed to but trying anyway 🤪 the rest - that was a struggle, turns out I am weak as heck - could not hold quite a few positions properly!!

but i will persist. No grit, no pearl and all that!

MooBaggage · 15/07/2025 21:59

@alltablenochairs they are brilliant! Congratulations from me 😀

My NSV tonight is that ds's were both lovely and said how good I looked 😍. I wasn't fishing for compliments, honest...! We were talking about collagen and creatine and what 'works'.

They were very sweet but it also made me feel sad - most/all of their childhood and adolescence they will have known me as the much heavier/less fit and active version of myself 😥. Thankfully my ex is incredibly fit and active so they didn't miss out on stuff - all of them run 10K/20K/marathons - but I just was not that parent...

I will never be a runner, but I wasn't the healthiest role model, or probably much fun at times when I was knackered and fed up.

But tonight was lovely - they're not body shaming at all, but just let me know that I look good and they can really see the difference 😍

@Darlinghag Don't go rushing out for a sports bra. I have a couple upstairs that were really expensive but no longer fit. I'll check what size they are and post them on here
Paradoxically I was much fitter when I was bigger and used to have a personal trainer each week so they date from then. Inspired by you lot I had just got my weights out and started doing a few exercises when I fell and hurt myself which seems to have knocked me back further than where I first started. DS has also told me I am doing it all wrong so that probably doesn't help!

gimmemounjaro · 15/07/2025 22:32

Aww they sound like lovely lads and that’s such a heartwarming NSV 😊 @MooBaggage

Apprensen · 16/07/2025 11:17

Side effects... I am wk 2 day 3 and I had some horrible side effects last night (throwing up, diarrhea) after no side effects bar some tiredness last week... It settled a bit with pepto bismol but still not fully OK... What has worked for you to alleviate the symptoms and also to prevent them? Any tips welcomed as I will have to stop the wli if they persist and I am already progressing so much in 2 weeks.

It is strange isn’t it. I’ve lost 9 stone after 14 months on MJ and have had 2 people just this morning at work almost walk past me as they didn’t recognise me. It’s very weird but it is taking a while even for me to come to terms with the slimmer version of me. My wardrobe is completely different and I still don’t register sometimes that that is me in the mirror.

RobinEllacotStrike · 16/07/2025 12:04

nice one @Darlinghag
yes its always harder than it looks - but there are modifications you can make, & you will quickly improve. Before you know it downdog becomes a "rest" position.
Well done for completing your first session & always keep enought time for the rest/savasana at the end.

and one of the challenges/ethos of yoga is acceptance - there's nothing to prove to anyone or yourself, it is what it is.

We all can only work with what we have - no judgements.

RobinEllacotStrike · 16/07/2025 12:09

OMG @Everdecreasingcircle you've lost an entire reasonably sized person.
bravo 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

@alltablenochairs I have also been thinking of refacing my phone log in as often its not recognising me now

RobinEllacotStrike · 16/07/2025 12:13

just to add @Darlinghag yoga benefits us all not matter how "well" we can do a posture.

So if you do a forward bend and have to bend your knees a lot & you can't touch your toes, you will be getting as much benefit from doing that posture as the more experienced person who can bend forward, straight legs & put their head on their shins or feet.

no judgements, no expectations.

Darlinghag · 16/07/2025 12:45

I had a shock at how quickly I tired during it to be honest @RobinEllacotStrike - I walk a lot but nothing else. Also used to have a practical job where my arms were strong etc but in a desk job now so its definitely impacted my strength! I am going to do the same video again tonight until I get a better grip! But 20 mins feels really doable and I know I can stick to this.
