@PearlsPearl longley farm cottage cheese is the best!

Elle771 · 14/07/2025 14:24

Adding Longley farm cottage cheese to shopping list now as you've just reminded me how much I love it!!

Hi, what would you like recommendations for? Sounds like lunch is covered @gnome

We meet for lunch a few times per year. Neither of us is based in Brighton so don't really know the restaurants. We started with The Ivy as a safe bet and have been swimming out from there.

We are old (very old!) school friends and meet to catch-up on family and doings. We talk and talk so comfortable chairs are a priority!

If you have any recommendations I am all ears. I picked Il Bistro at random. More than happy to try somewhere else.

TragicMuse · 14/07/2025 18:23

My prescribers have just rejected my next order because I’m also on an SGLT2. It’s been fine since February, nothing has changed on my prescriptions and it’s been fine. But now it isn’t.

AAAAARGH!

BASTARDS!

SilenceInside · 14/07/2025 18:37

Oh that’s an awful shock @TragicMuseand it seems very unfair that they’ve been prescribing since February without raising it as an issue. Maybe someone here will know of a pharmacy that does definitely support Mounjaro whilst taking SGLT2s?

TragicMuse · 14/07/2025 18:50

Oh I do hope so!!

thanks! It’s made me go all hot and cold…

SilenceInside · 14/07/2025 18:53

I can totally understand the reaction, I’d be the same if I was turned down unexpectedly like this. I wonder if one of the ones that have GPs and not just prescribing pharmacists might be more likely to manage this?

Try another prescriber @TragicMuse

I'm quite sure that a different one will prescribe for you.

Who are you with at the moment?

My friend runs Nostos in Hove, probably about a twenty minutes walk tho. Browns is good. Another friend runs the Victory pub well to be fair she owns it but rarely works there. Burnt Orange is gorgeous, terre a terre is yum lost in the lanes would be a good call as it has small plates or shelter hall is right on the beach and is lots of stalls to try, brilliant on a hot day. My fave as I don't eat lunch would be a pit if tea at the Grand. The armchairs are so comfy. Or afternoon tea at the Harbour Hotel was fab.

I’m with IQdoctor. I’ve been refused by WePrescribe and PillSorted 😞

I need to speak to someone so I can explain that my diabetes nurse fully supports my taking it.

I've always found that the prescribing pharmacist at Medino is very helpful.

You can email him on:
[email protected]

Or telephone 020 3393 1566.

Thanks Broon. I’ll give them a go…

Elephantscantjump · 14/07/2025 21:31

Hi all,
Have been lurking and thinking about MJ for a little while but have taken the step and ordered through numan today.

It all feels so overwhelming, and a healthy bmi feels so far away. I dont think I've ever been 12 stone in my life!

Its shallow but I love my curves and boobs and I'm really concerned I'll end up with just lots of loose skin.

Planning to take care with my diet and up my exercise. Will keep lurking here as you've all been amazing for advice.

TragicMuse · 14/07/2025 21:59

I’m so bloody upset and stressed. I’ve now got a consultation booked with Dr Frank’s and an order in with Medino. Fingers crossed one of them will let me back on to it. I’ll be absolutely gutted if they don’t.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/07/2025 22:11

@TragicMuse Gosh that's a nightmare 😬.
. It makes no sense for them not to prescribe it if your diabetic nurse is okay with it.

I take it they won't prescribe it for your diabetes on the NHS...?

I really hope you find one that will do it. 🤞

52soon · 14/07/2025 22:13

@TragicMuse can you’re diabetes nurse prescribe it on nhs? I didn’t manage with dapagliflozin so mine prescribed MJ alongside metformin in April with HB1AC down to 47. She will retest again in October after 6 months of MJ.

Doggymummar · 14/07/2025 22:17

I know people hate them, but I'm with Oushk and they are very good at listening to concerns and I know they go off piste e,g they prescribe down to 19bmi and over 75 years old. Might be worth a phone call. I couldn't bare the stress hence not shopping around each month for a deal, so I get how you feel.

TragicMuse · 14/07/2025 22:21

My diabetes nurse is very supportive - She said she would have prescribed if I’d not been so good and got my blood sugars down a couple of points.

I was managing my diabetes too well for her to prescribe. If I’d eaten more Christmas cake maybe it would have been different!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 14/07/2025 22:24

Oh @TragicMuse, no words but I really hope that this gets sorted for you

PositiveAttitude · 14/07/2025 22:35

Hi everyone,
I am outing myself after lurking here since this thread started. I will come and introduce myself properly tomorrow, but I felt compelled to say to @TragicMusethat I use my local chemist because of the other medication I take. I had a 30 minute appointment to start with. I had spoken with my GP and he suggested going there rather than an online one. The pharmacist contacted my GP and he confirmed he was happy for me to go on MJ. I walked out after the appointment with my first pen.
A face to face discussion may be a way forward for you, especially if the pharmacist knows your Dr and can speak with him/her.

Also a shout out to @weegiemum , who I recognise from being on Mumsnet between 2008 and 2013ish. I don't know if you remember me?

Sorry for the intrusion. Now that I have outed myself I will join you if I may.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/07/2025 22:54

Yay for new people ❤️

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/07/2025 22:56

I did something radical today.

For years I've lived in stretchy seasalt dresses, long leggings and trainers. I won no awards for style but I just wear it like a uniform.

Today... I..... Just took the leggings off. And went out! Lots of people wearing dresses and sandals. I felt naked. But I'm determined not to boil this summer!!

Argh, I'd have given you a code for 10% discount if I'd known.

This is fabulous!
I've never worn a dress without at least short leggings on underneath, I can imagine it feeling strange! Any chaffing? Did you feel your dress was too short? Or people were looking? These are all the things I immediately think of and would feel so nervous going out like that. Feeling exposed.
