Today's weigh in, I've lost (1lb under) 2 stone in 8 weeks 😮

I know I'm a super responder and it'll slow right down now, but I'm overjoyed.

I'm now 17.8, which is the lowest I've been in 10 years. I was 18 stone when I got married 10 years ago.

4.8 stone weight loss (the first 2 stone 10 on my own pre mj)

DW pointed out that I have a bag of my fave clothes in the garage that I put away years ago which I'd totally forgotten about, I'm absolutely certain that I won't like the style anymore (39 year old me dresses much different to 30 year old me!) and I don't think they'll fit anyway because of my lipoedema, but we'll get them out and have a look.

Buzzing this morning 💪happy sunday folks

PearlsPearl · 13/07/2025 09:29

Also, lipoedema update for those who also suffer: my arms, hips and legs haven't lost a single CM in all of this time. I knew they wouldn't. The fat can't be shifted through diet and exercise. So I'm definitely going to have the lipo in my arms first then hips and legs later down the line.

Pic to show progress. I can't believe I have a waist again and a non pregnant looking belly! Just hate my arms so much. Yesterday was the first day I had them out in years because it was burning hot and I just thought 'fuck it'.

(It's not a sensitive image, I've just hidden it to make it less visible on a public forum so only the interested people will click!)

@FourSeasonsTotalLandscaping welcome back from your cruise! Hope you enjoyed it! When I came back from holiday a month ago, I waited a few days before recording my weight so that salt/water/inflammation settled otherwise it's quite disheartening to think you gained more than you actually did. Draw a line under it. Fresh start tomorrow, or Monday.

@AlicesMum2025 I know what you mean. It's hard not to feel judged on the jabs. The only slightly good thing about being this weight is that even after losing 3 stone people only just start to notice so you might not have as many questions as you think about losing weight too fast. I've also noticed that slimmer people don't actually have a clue what one stone looks like in larger people. I told my friend yesterday I lost 4 stone and she must have thought I was lying because I still look the same 😂

Thanks @mamabeeboo - cruise was brilliant thanks! We went up to Norway which is just so beautiful and we had fantastic weather. One day we went on a coastal walk and I walked 11km with no difficulty: genuinely not sure I could have managed that before the MJ.

I did weigh myself this morning and I am 1.7kg down since before the holiday which has shocked me. I should be pleased but tbh I find it a bit troubling as I know I didn’t eat particularly well and I was drinking every day (only a small amount, but even so I don’t drink daily normally!).

I have just reordered 5mg for my next pen but I might cut the dose back to 2.5mg depending on how this week goes: I don’t want weight to be coming off too fast and the diarrhoea has been really problematic so if that doesn’t settle I don’t think I can hack any more time on 5mg!

FourSeasonsTotalLandscaping · 13/07/2025 09:41

@PearlsPearl you look brilliant! Hurrah for waists!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/07/2025 09:47

I'm not sure how easy it is to misunderstand - "of course it's the diet". I responded explaining how it isn't necessarily the diet, but can be a trigger. Side effects are common, although many many people don't get any!

@FourSeasonsTotalLandscaping the cruise sounds amazing and yay for so much walking! I've booked for Scotland at easter and really hoping to be able to walk a lot.

@PearlsPearl you look amazing!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/07/2025 09:58

And catching up in general -

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I love your post about reframing.❤️. I'm feeling more positive in general this week too I think I was just exhausted. Everything looks worse then!

@SilenceInside 🥳🥳🥳. Oh to be just "overweight" must feel incredible. And to get down from 50bmi in about a year is impressive. Well done ❤️. What a complete change.

I started bmi 50 and looking at predicting weight loss Ill be over a year - but possibly only a few months. It's mind boggling to think it's possible.

My random observations as I haven't done one for a while - so handfulls of fat. How weird is it? I've gone from being solidly round to losing some size but I can literally grab handfuls of fat from stomach or thigh and it's such a strange sensation! I hope it will be on its way out (I know it will end up as wobbly skin) but being able to actually grab and wobbly is bizarre! (Not a negative or positive just strange!)

Gillandtonic · 13/07/2025 10:02

Hi all,
Long time lurker, first time poster. I’ve taken a lot of inspiration from so many of you but never quite felt brave enough to put myself out there until now.
I started Mounjaro 8 weeks ago. The day I stood on the scales and saw 19 stone 9 was a real moment. In my head I thought I was still around 17 stone. That was a shock.
Today I weighed in at 16 stone 9 and I’m honestly so happy with the progress so far. I know some might say it’s a lot too fast, but I’m under my GP’s care and I see them every four weeks.
That said, eating has been a real struggle. I’m looking for ideas for small, easy meals I can manage twice a day. I don’t have much appetite and I get full really fast, but I want to make sure I’m still getting enough in and looking after myself properly.
Would love to hear what’s worked for others, especially simple.

Doggymummar · 13/07/2025 10:30

Welcome @gillandtonic I can only speak for me, bit I can't eat a meal. For the past few days I have had ryvita thins with full fat cottage cheese and a tomato three or four times a day when peckish. I am usually one meal a day so this is a big departure. Last night I had a filo and spinach pie with rocket for dinner and a batch of butterscotch angel delight i dipped into all evening.

Today I'm planning on making a batch of Greek salad which I will munch on throughout the day.

TragicMuse · 13/07/2025 11:26

I have a recipe for some thing that is close to Starbucks egg bites. They’re good for a small easy grab.

They do freeze but the texture goes a bit grainy when defrosted. Not awful but not the lovely silky bite they have when fresh.

Egg Bites (Starbucks Copycat)

If you love the egg bites from Starbucks, you are going to love this easy homemade version! They have a velvety texture and are the perfect protein-packed option to meal prep for the week ahead.

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 13/07/2025 11:46

I’ve been struggling with the side effects since I went up to 5mg and it really isn’t the diet. I haven’t had anything rich or high in fat since I started, most of my meals are just chicken/fish/ other veggie protein with salad or veg, hardly any carbs, no alcohol etc. probably over sensitive though as I spent another day yesterday unable to keep anything down even though I’ve reduced the dosage. But I don’t think it’s my fault or that I’m doing anything ‘wrong’, it’s just how my body is responding.

GnomeDePlume · 13/07/2025 11:48

I think everyone's experience of mounjaro is different. Because, well, we are all different. Some people get side effects, others don't. Some people are quick losers at the start. Others are slow and steady all the way.

Also, mounjaro doesn't work for everyone.

Gillandtonic · 13/07/2025 12:16

Confussedmiddleaged I had this when I we t to 7.5mg. This week I took the jab in 2 halves, one on Friday and I’ll take the next one on Monday.

52soon · 13/07/2025 12:34

Today is the first day of feeling normal after minor gynae surgery on Tuesday, have been suffering with constipation for the first time since starting MJ but don’t know if that was from GA, hopefully that’s now resolved also bleeding a fair bit but that’s now easing, jumped on scales this morning and I’ve had my first whoosh 3lb down! I’ll take that official weigh in day Wednesday so I’m preying the 3 lb loss stays 🤞

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 13/07/2025 12:35

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/07/2025 08:58

And yet I know on the fb group I'm on for my pharmacy that some people are eating fish and chips with no problem, no side effects etc.

It isn't the same for everyone.

That's true.

I've eaten absolutely anything since starting MJ. My diet is just eating exactly what I used to eat, but smaller portions (minus all the cakes, sweets and crisps etc).

I've never had sulphur burps, and in fact my only side-effect has been very occasional nausea. If I feel sick I take dimenhydrinate tablets.

TragicMuse · 13/07/2025 12:46

We are all different! I had some gastric stuff at the start but the worst for me was the dry mouth. It was so sore and painful. That has settled now and I seem to be ok. Each step up has been manageable, I seem to do alright with the occasional chip or ice-cream…but I am much lower on carbs than I used to be. Getting enough protein is the hardest for me as my husband is veggie so that accounts for most of my cooking.

I had diarrhoea every time I tried going from 5 to 7.5 and I ended up doing a halfway dose of 6.25 for a month, then tried again and no diarrhoea. So our bodies probably adjust eventually. Have you tried the midway dose (by clicking to 45)? I needed the higher dose and I’m feeling like I do again but I don’t want to risk the diarrhoea again as it was really bad. I’ve got one more 7.5 pen to start so another month at least.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 13/07/2025 14:21

I'm glad to see the way things are going for me.

I think that possibly, older women don't need to get down to such a low BMI.

This is me today, with a BMI of 32.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I’d be over the moon to have your legs! Even when I was much slimmer my legs are chunky.

"Auld bollox" sounds about right.
🤣

Don't forget that I've lost nearly 8 stone. I've been losing weight for 18 months now.

You look like you’ve always been slim, your shape is right, you actually look fab

i worry that I’ll look like a fat person pretending to be slim when I’ve lost enough weight

do you know what I mean?

Yes, I do know. I thought the same but I'm starting to look like I looked when I was 20, 30 or 40.

It was after that, that I put on weight.

I'm 69 now and feeling like I'm 40 again.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/07/2025 17:03

Wow @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne you look incredible!!!! I can't believe that's bmi 32 - you absolutely look like a "normal person".

Wow that gives me hope! How are you finding excess skin? I assumed id have a sort of spare tyre of it all but you really haven't!!

I would love to look like you ❤️. That's normal people clothes and you look slim!!

I had coffee with a friend I only see every few months today. I felt awkward as I realised I was probably still the biggest person in the coffee shop (it's so funny holding that "Wahooooo I'm shrinking" in tension with current reality!) but afterwards she asked if I'd lost weight.... She obviously had been thinking how to word it. She was so lovely and told me that my body had definition now. She said when we were there at Christmas I filled the seat (!) but she meant it in terms of how far I'd obviously come. She has had weight issues (not 10stones worth) and was so lovely about it all.

I did notice I could sit there and do that half leg crossed (when your ankle rests on your leg) and I love sitting like that so I hadn't realised til afterwards that yes she was right I was compeltely filling the seat and probably uncomfortably resting my arms on my bump before... It really is a big change since Xmas even if I'm not half way yet the progress is there!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 13/07/2025 17:13

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden
I've definitely still got a lot of fat over my abdomen, but nothing like it used to be. Yes, there's some loose skin, but it's not too bad. I have found that it looks more and more normal, as time has gone on.
I've also got very good underwear 🤣

My backside used to be huge but it looks normal now. Well, I think it does.

At the age of 69, I'm not expecting things to look like they looked 20 or even 40 years ago.
