Hoping the lovely bunch of May starters thread 3 finds this new thread. Can't believe we are on 4 in the space of couple of weeks.

Thread 3 is now full so can't post the link for the new one there.

Possibly a daft question but if you’re doing part dosage (eg. 3.75mg) do you not end up with wastage? As I thought after 30 days the shelf life is up?

MyScaredCat · 25/06/2025 10:42

Morning
weigh day here and it’s another 2lb down, taking me to 23.5lb in 8 weeks.
delighted.
i took 3.75 last week and there was 4mg left this morning so that what i injected.
i have a 5mg pen ready for next week, my first one. But im going to do 5 weeks of 48 clicks, to give me 4 each time. I hope my maths is right!
wont be using the extra in the pen as ill be on holiday in that time and it would be too outside the window for me to feel comfortable.
I did experience my first real SE this week; with diarrhoea and sulphur burps. Crossing everything that I don’t get the same this week. The burping was instant but the 💩 didn’t hit until Friday night/ sat morning so we’ll see

FlorenceNightshade · 25/06/2025 11:01

@Bundleflower not a silly question! The manufacturer advice is to discard a pen 30 days after first use.

Some people are happy to use it after this point accepting there may be risks around increased infection and decreased efficacy.

As a RN I could never advise someone use meds against manufacturer/prescriber instructions but as a citizen of Earth I understand people will do what they like!! If you’re considering it do some research and make your own mind up about what you are willing to risk. ✌️

@DidILeaveTheGasOn I'm in awe of your skin care regime. I envisage you sitting in a 1940s film set, surrounded by lotion, potions and frills.

I love this! Wonder if there's a halfway point between 1940s starlet and Gollum? 😆

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 25/06/2025 11:15

@MyScaredCat Wow, congrats! Sounds more like SkinnyCat!

Ah - I understand now. I’m taking 5mg in full as seems to be the best for me at the moment with no negative SE. Thanks for your help :-)

Morning @surviving45. I can only think the concern around using two pens is being completely sure of the combined dose, and ensuring you follow the instructions with both (priming, hygiene).
It would make sense to use up the 2.5mg pen and start the 5mg one with a micro dose.

@SussexLass87 Your post made me smile last night, it was so relatable. Hope you have a lovely day.

Woken up in a more positive mood today. Still feel slightly out of control of my life - waiting on completion date before we can apply for new schools. I don't know the area we are moving to so it's either a wonderful adventure or scary depending on the day.

I've become pretty focused/obsessed with my skincare routine. I have bought a few extra products to add to my routine and it gives me a lift to sit and go through multiple steps. It sounds so vapid written down. It's almost like a hobby now, looking online at reviews. I didn't do any skincare until May this year and now I have shelves full of stuff.

It's expensive but still nowhere near what I was spending on alcohol I suppose.

The single mindedness of it reminds me of when my dad was sick a few years ago, I became obsessed with cushions and artificial flowers. Redecorated like a motherfucker. It looked totally inappropriate. My mum was aghast. Brains are weird things.

Anyway, if you need me I'll be sitting with my shrine to the Ordinary, Clarins, Nip + Fab, Clinique, Medik8, Ren (RIP) and Emma Hardie gibbering about my dark circles and retinal.

Back at ya - I love reading your musings.

I feel like everyone on this thread is having a virtual coffee morning - a good natter and catch up over a cuppa ☕️🫖

TreesOfGreen99 · 25/06/2025 13:53

Re taking 5 doses from the same pen, if you take first dose on day 1, then dose 5 will be on day 29, ie, within the 30 day window
Dose 1 - day 1
Dose 2 - day 8
Dose 3 - day 15
Dose 4 - day 22
Dose 5 - day 29

Seahorsesplendour · 25/06/2025 14:49

I’ve just had the very unusual occurrence of having 10 mins for lunch away from my laptop and you have all entertained me wonderfully 😅 thank you!!

Hope you all have a good afternoon!!

PandyMoanyMum · 25/06/2025 16:10

It’s really helpful to see the posts where things have plateaus but then got moving again - good to see @Bundleflower & @SutekhsEars have come out the other side. Gives me hope!
I think there are a couple of us who are stuck - @Redsparklybucket & @Surviving45 - sorry if I have names wrong, it’s so fast moving on this thread, just wanting to say hi and share what I’m doing in case it’s helpful to anyone who is stuck.
I took the last dose out of my second 2.5 pen on Saturday and have been fighting not to put on weight (rigorous calorie counting) for the past two weeks. I’ve been so hungry and although full quicker and longer when I do eat than without mounjaro, it’s been really, really hard without the reward of seeing the scales shift.
So today I took the “bonus” dose with my dodgy syringe and I have a new 5mg pen to start on Sunday.
I’m hoping that increased dose will bring back the suppression and staying within my goal of 1200 calories will be easier. And the scales will bloody move!!
Am finding everyone’s experiences so helpful though, so glad to be on this thread.

PandyMoanyMum · 25/06/2025 16:22

Sorry I just scrolled back and saw @Kbr22 and @lifetheuniverseandeverything42 are also feeling stuck! Hoping we all start magically shifting soon!

Mounjour · 25/06/2025 17:00

I've got loads to catch up on but just checking in feeling pretty low. I'm absolutely shattered. I don't know if it's the MJ or my new mystery condition but I'm so fed up of having no energy. I've cancelled this week's evening gym classes because I just want to get in from work and sleep.

Two weeks ago the GP said she was expediating her referral to the hospital and I checked on that today. They've not received any letter. So I check with the surgery. The receptionist rings me back and says the GP needs further information and will ring me back. No call all day. Nothing feels straight forward, I feel let down by the NHS every step of the way and so many missed opportunities.

Sorry for the rant 😥

That’s so disappointing. Apart from my recent (admittedly overall exceptional) maternity care, I’ve not received any tangible NHS care in at least 20 years. Have you looked at a private GP? It’s around £150 and I believe they can do NHS referrals. It’ll be almost instant for them to make their referrals. Obviously, you’ll then have to wait for the NHS to pick up but might be worth it?

Gingercar · 25/06/2025 17:28

I’m sorry Monjour. That’s so frustrating.

Re plateaus -. It’s often your body simply adjusting to your new diet and regime. Not really anything down to the suppression, unless you go crazy when suppression dies off - which is something we’re possibly all going to have to cope with at the end.

BluNavy · 25/06/2025 17:45

Hi everyone

Weigh day for me and I lost 1.6kg, total of 14.5kg / 31lbs in total.

I've noticed the week on my period have been my lowest losses so I'm trying to not feel deflated when that happens and plan for it!

So far I've done 7 weeks on 2.5, 1 week 3.75 and 4.25 today and will start 5 next week. I'm nervous about increased side effects as it's not been too bad so far but I'm definitely getting more constipated with the increase.

I'm eating up to 1400 calories and in the tracking absolutely everything group and focusing on protein. It seems to be working really well for me.

I'm enjoying the kefir drinks in Lidl. They aren't as sweet as some of the other protein drinks!

Thanks for all the recommendations. I've been reading them diligently and have found them really helpful!

Mounjour · 25/06/2025 17:46

Thank you @Bundleflower that wouldn't help at this point as I'm already on the waiting list for the consultant. Just need to wait, but it's months and when I saw the GP she was concerned about my symptoms and the current wait.

Unfortunately I've fallen off the wagon in terms of Pepsi Max and biscuits and a KitKat Chunky. I'm just so tired. Tea would have been takeaway if not for DP's amazing practical support.

PandyMoanyMum · 25/06/2025 18:15

Oh @Mounjour the NHS system is so broken. Sorry you are having a crappy time.

Surviving45 · 25/06/2025 18:52

I decide to brave a 3.75 jab from 2 pens so hoping no bad SE from doing this 🤞🏻

@Mounjour hope you get your referral sorted GPs are a nightmare 😔

Mounjour · 25/06/2025 19:04

(I feel embarrassed by my earlier post. Sorry folks, it’s just been a long day. Have done my chores and now chilling in the bath).

it is good reading your posts. I especially like reading about plateaus broken!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 25/06/2025 19:32

Please don't feel embarrassed, @Mounjour. So frustrating reading about your GP/the NHS. Hope the fatigue lifts soon.

Mine lifted a bit this morning which meant i could get some work done. Yesterday I was shattered just putting my shoes on so I appreciated the lift, even if it was over by 2pm.

Just been for my MRI which turned out to be a 'mobile MRI' in a temporary structure in the car park that was blocking two disabled parking spaces.
It was like a little prefab shed. It reminded me of Geography lessons at secondary school, also conducted in a 'temporary' structure (if 'temporary' means 5 years) in the car park!

Less questions about rocks and Snowdon today. Think I'd got quite nervous about the whole business because I was so relieved afterwards! Silly knees, who'd have 'em.

Meant to be going for a walk tonight but I just want to veg now. I hate hospitals after a traumatic time having my eldest. Even going back to that hospital makes me sweat just being near the building. Luckily all my recent stuff has been at a different hospital.

SutekhsEars · 25/06/2025 20:09

I've been badly let down by the NHS in the past too, so you have my sympathy @Mounjour . I had a life-threatening condition and my stupid GP sent me away with hrt. I'm still bitter 4 years later.
Everything crossed you get to see a consultant soon.

hottubsundays · 25/06/2025 20:16

It’s frustrating that you get a different service from the nhs depending on bf where you live or who your gp is. I find here in the south west we lack decent consultants as they don’t want to be in the backwaters they want to be in exciting cities! Hope you get some answers soon @Mounjour

im back in the plateau also but I’ve decided (hoping) that my scales as rubbish they have started flashing and giving really odd reasons so collecting a new one from Argos in the morning. I’ve done 3 x 5mg injections and this week I was feeling hungry by day 2 which isn’t helpful!

Mounjour · 25/06/2025 20:35

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate your kind words Flowers

The latest GP and I are fairly confident it's Meniere's Disease. There's no cure, so in some ways a diagnosis is neither here nor there, but it would be good to have some clarity and then I feel I can ask work for some adjustments. And I can get my head around coming to terms with the condition. I might buy myself one of those daisy lanyards because people keep assuming I'm drunk which is a bit unhelpful.

Like I say, I cancelled this week's gym but next week I'm booked on to step (my fave) and yoga. Then I've booked myself in for an overnight spa. Sorry, not sorry. Want to get my joie de vivre back.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 25/06/2025 20:48

The trousers I've been wearing to death since November have just split at the thighs. The corrosive chub rub hath destroyed mine pantaloons.
Just ordered some chub rub shorts to wear under skirts until my thighs are no longer radioactive.
I'd like an overnight spa, @Mounjour. Sounds like just the thing. Meniere's Disease sounds crap as heck, sorry to read that.

SutekhsEars · 25/06/2025 20:58

@Mounjour how is it diagnosed? Will you get an MRI?
