Hoping the lovely bunch of May starters thread 3 finds this new thread. Can't believe we are on 4 in the space of couple of weeks.

Thread 3 is now full so can't post the link for the new one there.

@Mounjour sorry you’re having such a rough time! I hope you do get to see someone about it soon! 💐

@DidILeaveTheGasOn i hope your pantaloons are able to rest in peace after their service to you!!! 😅 your posts are ace!!

i have finally embraced an actual bra after years in comfy crop top style. I swore I would never go back but turns out 2 stone lighter & bras are much more comfortable!!! Definitely look better too!! Strange NSV but one nonetheless… I think 🤔

hottubsundays · 25/06/2025 21:19

@Mounjour i had vertigo for a couple of weeks last summer it was awful, I managed to shift it with the head manoeuvres but I know it’s not simple with menieres, like you say at least you will know what you’re dealing with. Enjoy that spa!

Mounjour · 25/06/2025 21:20

@DidILeaveTheGasOn some new clothes sounds just the ticket!

@SutekhsEars I'm not sure. From I can see it'll involve hearing tests (eventual loss of hearing in 10 years is a typical symptom, but not certain). I had an MRI and CT in hospital but they were to rule out the clinicians' initial hypotheses of brain tumour and stroke.

Mounjour · 25/06/2025 21:23

@hottubsundays I can't remember the name of those movements, but the clinicians tried them and they didn't work. My vertigo only lasted 3 weeks this time around thank god, now I just have the almost constant dizziness. Vertigo is definitely the worse.

@Seahorsesplendour I've noticed a weird bit of underwire sticking out under my arm. I think my cup size has changed!

Jab day tomorrow and I'm thinking of taking more than 60 clicks. If I do that, do I need a new needle and to re-prime the needle? Or will the pen turn beyond 60?

SutekhsEars · 25/06/2025 21:49

@Mounjour I'm glad a brain tumour was ruled out - that's what I had a few years ago and my symptoms were similar to yours. 🤞you don't suffer hearing loss though.

Epley manoeuvre?

Mounjour · 25/06/2025 21:52

(That's the one). I'm so sorry to hear your own health problems @SutekhsEars , how old were you? How has your recovery been?

SutekhsEars · 25/06/2025 22:21

@Mounjour I was quite lucky, when I finally got diagnosed. On the operating table 36 hours after my MRI and completely recovered now, thank goodness. I was late 40s and it was during the lockdowns, which probably contributed to the misdiagnoses. It barely seems real, looking back now. I was also going through the world's most acrimonious divorce, which I'm blaming for the weight gain. Stress is not good for us.

Apprenante · 25/06/2025 22:35

@Mounjour I have Menières and was diagnosed about 15 - 20 years ago. It was foul and frightening for the first few attacks, for me and for the people around me. Once I knew what it was it was still very very inconvenient but not frightening.

I had various ineffective treatments then eventually was put on Betahistine tablets. I just take one in the morning and one in the evening. No side effects and I can't remember the last time I had an attack.

Each attack damages your auditory nerve a bit more and I have very little hearing in the affected ear but the other ear is normal. I wear a hearing aid in the bad ear.

If I can be of any help - provide a sympathetic ear (ha ha) please get in touch .💛

Mounjour · 26/06/2025 07:28

@SutekhsEars that’s so serious. Never ceases to amaze me how much some people have been through. I’m so glad to read about your recovery.

@Apprenante thank you so much, I’ll take you up on that offer by PM (so I’m not taking even more room up on our thread, which I’m becoming acutely conscious of!). I’m currently on 6 betahistines a day which aren’t doing anything for my symptoms but hopefully preventing another scary attack.

Feeling inspired to take my health more seriously and be a bit more gentle with myself. Jab day today, so extra focused on eating sensibly.

Hope everyone has a good day!

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 26/06/2025 07:38

Well I officially don’t understand weight loss. I ate loads more than usual yesterday including my first chocolate (found a Cadbury caramel egg that needed eating) and toast with jam along with a shedload of fruit and I have lost 0.2kg overnight. I still ate less than 2000cal but loads more than I’ve been having lately and much more sugary and carbs than usual. Off to my first personal trainer session shortly.

@Mounjour wish you luck managing your meniers my dad has this and it wipes him out when he has an episode.

Mounjour · 26/06/2025 08:35

@lifetheuniverseandeverything42 thank you.
Not very scientific, I think there’s a lot to be said for a “refeed” and confusing your metabolism.

PinkScot · 26/06/2025 09:16

Morning all!
lost this thread and just refound it and took two days to catch up on all the posts! I’m week 8 and have a 7 week weigh in of losing 17 pounds! 36 % of the way to my goal I am so happy! I’m on 5mg now and will have jab three on Saturday, my SEs have been manageable but tiredness and a small amount of nausea has come into play. My weight loss has been steady 2 or 3 pounds a week. All I know is that I’m using my fitness pal and am tracking fanatically everything I put in my mouth apart from lettuce! My target max calories is 1400 but most days I’m on about 1000 as that’s all I can manage. I eat three small meals a day, focus on protein with every meal and a snack of mainly fruit if I ever need one. I don’t do enough exercise but I walk every day, about half an hour. I feel I will need to increase that soon, also I know I don’t drink enough water and conscious I need to work on that too. Good luck losers, so pleased to see everyone’s results 😊. I’ve got another 5 mg pen to start next as I feel it’s working so well.

W5D1
8lbs down in four weeks, not going to lie, I'm somewhat disappointed as I know some people have lost this in a week! But better than nothing I guess and I've stuck to a calorie deficit (around 1400 a day) for 4 weeks which is brand new for me!

Probably should have asked this question before I injected but hey hoo...🤦🏽‍♀️

I bought these syringes for the 5th dose of my first pen:
BD MicroFine+ Syringe & Needle 30G 0.5ml 8mm Bag 10

  • Dimensions: 8mm
  • Gauge: 30G
  • Capacity: 0.5ml
  • Pack Qty: 10 Syringes

I now realise these aren't quite correct. Am I right in thinking that as I need to take 0.6ml, I can fill one pen to 50 (units as marked on the pen) and another to 10? I used two pens as so not to inject the same needle twice. It seemed to take most of the liquid that was left in the pen.

Checking in at the end of week 4. Having stalled for about 10 days, I was feeling quite demotivated, but have woken up to a 2 Lb loss taking me to 9 overall. It’s slow progress, but I’m taking that as a win.

Onwards & downwards.

Kbr22 · 26/06/2025 10:05

Let me start by saying I am really happy for everyone who are having great losses. I am really down today, which isn’t like me, I got up to go on the treadmill and just couldn’t do it.
My starting weight 82kg 14th May
CW 77.3 today.
I am on My Fitness Pal and log every day, sticking to 1250 calories. Calorie deficit of 500.
Go on the treadmill and do an Apple Watch workout 4 or 5 days a week, I didn’t exercise before so am pleased that I am pushing myself. Try and get at least 8000 steps in each day.
I can’t think of anything else I can do but only losing 4.7kg in nearly 6 weeks, I have my 7th Jab tomorrow, is really getting me down.
Can anyone please advise me as to what I am doing wrong?
I read the posts everyday and really want everyone to do well, I don’t post often, but I am desperate now.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 26/06/2025 10:34

@Kbr22 Isn't 4.7kg a whopping 10 pounds? That sounds great! You're 10lbs lighter than you were almost 6 weeks ago. Your body composition will have changed a fair amount in that time, too - loss of fat, gain of lean muscle. Lean muscle increases your metabolic rate, makes it easier for you to burn calories just existing. It's good stuff!

Wish I could give you a big hug. You're doing really well. The exercise you're doing is fantastic and will be helping you to make big changes that you won't see straight away on the scales.

Mounjour · 26/06/2025 10:57

@Kbr22 I agree, 10lb in that time is absolutely fine. You may not have had the big initial drop that some of us had because you were already on your weightloss trajectory.
Are you going to go up a dosage on your next one?

Big hugs.

I'm in a similar boat to you, having lost 8lb in 4 weeks, with a consistent calorie deficit and plenty of movement. I'm starting a 5mg pen next week and hoping that will help.

Weightlossprincess · 26/06/2025 11:36

Hi guys, not posted for a couple of weeks and couldn't find you!!
So end of week 7 today for me and ive lost a total of 13.2 pounds. Not going to lie, feel a bit disappointed as friends and family who started at the same time have lost significantly more, but ....it's going in the right direction.
Took my first 5mg dose today ( I did 4 lots of 2.5 and 3 lots of 3.75 previously) and for the first time I'm feeling a bit nauseous. Has anyone else noticed this? I was hoping to avoid by doing a bridging dose inbetween the 2 pens.
Good look to everyone for this week xant believe we started this in may and it's almost July!!!!

Kbr22 · 26/06/2025 11:55

@DidILeaveTheGasOn @Mounjour Thank you so much for your support, I had tears in my eyes reading what @DidILeaveTheGasOn said. @Mounjour I will be taking my 3rd dose of 5mg tomorrow, do you think I should go up after my 4th dose next week? My only concern is that I have been constipated on 5 and don’t want to make it worse as I don’t think this is helping.
My son has said “Mum give yourself a day off today, get a cheat meal if you want and relax”. I am going to a Grandparents Concert today to watch my grandson and it is over an hours drive away so haven;t been in the gym and am tempted to get a ready meal from M&S on the way home! I have put it into MFPal and I will still have a couple of hundred calories left so I am tempted but it would be one of only a few of UPF’s since the 6 weeks I started. I’m really trying to change my old lifestyle! Would you go up to 7 and see if that shifts the weight more?

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 26/06/2025 12:06

@Kbr22 Have you taken any measurements since you started on Mj?

Kbr22 · 26/06/2025 12:25

@DidILeaveTheGasOn Yes I have lost on my waist was 104cm and now 99 and was 109 on hips and now 104cm so that is a good sign, but that was last week and this week nothing!

SutekhsEars · 26/06/2025 12:58

Can I have some advice please, Losers.
I am so tired. Can't walk up a hill, can barely swim for half an hour. Has anyone else had this? Or found a solution? Do you think more protein would help? I think the fatigue is probably a direct SE of mounjaro, but I also haven't slept well since I started it, which is probably contributing. Any suggestions please before I sack this off?!
