Hoping the lovely bunch of May starters thread 3 finds this new thread. Can't believe we are on 4 in the space of couple of weeks.

Thread 3 is now full so can't post the link for the new one there.

Oh @SussexLass87 how horrid for you! I hope you had a good time before the d and v started. I bet you looked great in your special dress.

Mounjour · 07/07/2025 18:19

Does anyone else follow Laura Try? I like her, she's authentic and a similar age to me. Anyway, her latest video is about her high protein diet and focus on strength training.

Well after two week away on hols I finally got back on the scales ( and the wagon) and I’ve gained a 1lb in weight. I’m not too unhappy about that as I did have a few glasses of wine and we ate out a lot. Onwards and downwards losers 😊

Edited

That’s brilliant, well done you !

ElsieJay · 07/07/2025 18:46

@SussexLass87 - oooh, poor you - what a rotten end to your special evening .
I was thinking about you having a fab time in your VERY MUCH SMALLER glam gown , sorry it ended up so miserably for you .
Sending a hug 🤗 xxx

Thanks for this I will look at her video later. Looking to start some sort of weight training, just trying to find something suitable for a 66 year old that has never been in a gym in her life, yelps!!

ElsieJay · 07/07/2025 19:12

Apologies, @Sallycinnamum - thought I’d added my commiserations to the post for Sussex, but looking back I can see I didn’t .
Hope you’re feeling much better soon 💐 xx

Mounjour · 07/07/2025 21:03

@Kbr22 Laura is quite far in to her shift from cardio to resistance work. When I started with lifting I was first inspired by Staci at Nerd Fitness, learned lots from Stronglifts 5x5 and later I got the book Strong Curves by Brett Contreras.

BerfyTigot · 07/07/2025 21:04

Sorry to hear that so many people are struggling, hope it passes soon for you all.

Ate a hard boiled egg yesterday but had terrible sulphurous burps all day today 😫. But better than d and v.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 07/07/2025 22:58

First half of the evening was great - kids at footie, I did a fast paced walk and met my goals for today.

Second half of the evening went down the toilet. Locked in a battle of wills with my ex husband. He is very controlling and spirals when he can't get the control he needs. It was exhausting dealing with that. There were things he was pushing for that were unnecessary and kind of weird. Once he's got himself going, he won't come down for hours, he's up in the rafters high on anxiety and self-righteousness. I used to argue with him for hours about meeting up with friends after work, going out for a meal, even leaving the house at 8pm for a few drinks. He had cameras inside and outside so it's not like I could have nipped out once the kids were asleep. It was like I didn't exist as a person.

Anyway. I'm not there anymore, I'm free.

Tonight i didn't have a glass of wine. I could have, there's an open bottle in the fridge.
Now I'm having to sit with my feelings instead. I feel crap. Exhausted. Sad.

SussexLass87 · 07/07/2025 23:32

You're all so lovely - it was a fab night before getting poorly.

Getting ready was so much fun, whereas previously it's been about shoving myself into shape wear, feeling hot and bothered and generally crap about myself.

I've lost over a stone since I was last at a Ball in March and it felt like quite a big difference in myself.

Lots of love to you all 💗

Life is chucking so much at you at the moment - I'm sorry it's been so unrelenting.

I wish I had wise words or something helpful to offer...but you are fab 🌸

Gingercar · 07/07/2025 23:46

That’s a victory in itself that you didn’t revert to the glass of wine. Feel glad that you left that life with him behind? That you’re happy where you are, and you’re en route to a fabulous new you… ❤️

Mounjour · 08/07/2025 07:26

Hope your evening finished more peacefully @DidILeaveTheGasOn. Glad to hear your evening had some good times as well as poorly @SussexLass87 .

Scales are not shifting for me and I'm eating out tonight so I can't see them moving tomorrow either.

It's so frustrating when you're working hard and not seeing the results...I'm sorry.

Anyone who says WLI are "easy" has no idea!

Yes, it’s not the easy route! But I’m my own worse enemy weighing myself in ever morning 😁

I am the same, daily weigh ins, so huge empathetic hugs. I hope they shift for you tomorrow but in the meantime with the e amount of tough nuts life seems to be throwing at you right now, I hope you are able to give yourself a little break. You’re doing amazing already. And not just that but making legions of strangers on here laugh and feel supported. Sounds like super hero behaviour to me!

Gingercar · 08/07/2025 09:38

I feel bad posting this now, but I’ve just done my weekly weigh in and have lost 3lbs. Very pleased! So a stone and a half off in seven weeks. Almost back to my pre cafe weight (still loads to go!),

I don’t like weighing myself every day, but I quite often do. We are inbetween two houses now and I weigh myself daily on the scales in the house we sleep in. They’re in kg and quite different to the scales I started weigh in with at the other house. I weigh myself once a week on the ones I the other house, so it’s still a surprise in some ways. They’re in stones and lbs.

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 08/07/2025 10:33

For those of you not loosing. This is a screenshot of my weight loss. I weigh every day. May calorie deficit is generally quite similar each day, I do 10000 steps, some dumbbells and a swim each week. My loss on average is fairly steady gradient when averaged out but the weight does not come off the same each day. I have plateaus and sudden drops. I think the weather and periods have a big impact. Just thought I may give a bit of encouragement not to get discouraged. I also read that weighing every day but working out your average weight for each week is a good way to measure. It smooths out the bumps.

Check in for me today - end of Week 8!

Just did jab number 9, 4th 5mg dose.

So after 8 weeks I’ve gone from 92.9kg to 80kg! A 12.9kg/ 2 stone loss equal to 13% body weight! My BMI today is 25.8!! Can’t actually believe it!

Because I’m tall the loss isn’t hugely noticeable, not getting loads of comments or anything. I’m now only about 5kg from where I thought would be a sensible weight for me but I’ll see what I think when/if I get there. No side effects to complain about this week been tired but works been hectic so most likely that!

I’ve been a bit lax with my daily steps last week and am on nights next week so will really try to focus on exercising this week because I know when I’m doing nights that it will be a walk a day and that’s it!

Im also a daily weigher because I like to see the fluctuations. I log in my Fitbit app and it gives a weekly/monthly/yearly average that shows a general downwards trend that I find useful. I’ll add the picture incase anyone is interested what that looks like!

Keep keeping on girlies we are all smashing it in our own way just by trying! Our future selves are grateful for the effort we are making right now investing in ourselves! Onwards and Downwards ✌️

Hugs to everyone who has had a tough time of it recently.

My compromise is that I weigh daily, but only record it weekly. It just means I can keep an eye on how I'm doing through the week.

I think I've decided to do slimpod alongside the jabs. I really don't want to put it back on, and the biscuit incident the other day was a bit of a shock to me.

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 08/07/2025 11:38

Morning all. Sorry to those feeling disheartened this week.

I have hit quite a milestone today, have lost 2 stone exactly since the beginning of May. So pleased. A few more lbs to go, but I will go back to a 2.5mg pen next time. 2 more shots in this one and perhaps a golden dose if I can manage it this time (failed on the last pen!)

So sorry to hear that some of you are dealing with so many big 'life' problems - kudos to you all for even attempting to lose weight.

Weigh in today and at the end of week 8 I'm down 8.8kg in total. Had a hospital appointment yesterday and for once didn't worry about my weight and eat nothing for 3 days beforehand.

SW 102.2kg
CW 93.4kg

Woohoo! Slow and steady loss. Take care losers.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 08/07/2025 14:36

Aww I'm so chuffed to see folks near to goal but I'm gonna miss ya! I'll end up on this thread on my own having a wee gibber to myself.

BerfyTigot · 08/07/2025 15:09

@DidILeaveTheGasOn don't worry, I'm nowhere near goal (my goal keeps changing tbh) I'll be here a while yet 😁

Gingercar · 08/07/2025 15:34

I’ll be here for ages gibbering with you. Don’t worry!🤣
