Mid June starter - Mounjaro

I got my fist Kwikpen yesterday and took my first dose tonight. Hoping there maybe some others starting this week who want to share the journey together.
I used to go to Slimming World, tried keto, the fast800 and various other diet and was never able to stick them out long as I'm far too impatient. I am so desperate to feel better about myself and get my confidence back, which I haven't seen since I was 20, so would love so moral support along the way.

I would suggest joining the June ‘25 starters thread.

CaptivePeanut · 18/06/2025 21:23

Thanks @IReallyNeedThisToWorkI did have quick a look at that thread but felt like im a couple of jabs behind so hoped there would be people starting this week 🙂

That means there are people who can give you advice or make suggestions PLUS the new starters at exactly the same point as you. Makes for a great community!

CaptivePeanut · 18/06/2025 21:37

@IReallyNeedThisToWork very true, will give it a try 😁 thank you

@CaptivePeanutthere’s also the “more than 5st to lose” thread and the “10st or more to lose” threads you can join in with too, as I saw from the June thread that you might find those relevant. I’m on both, as I needed to lose about 12 stone to get to my target. I’ll try and do links to them in a mo.

wlinewbie0425 · 18/06/2025 22:06

We do have a late April starters thread that runs separate to the also busy April thread as loads of us started just after Easter and at that early stage it does feel very different being at week 1 from week 3 or 4. I say go for it and start another thread if there are a few of you from now to end of month.

ginislife · 18/06/2025 22:33

Mine was delivered today. I’m now too scared to do it 🤦🏼‍♀️😢😂

SilenceInside · 18/06/2025 22:35

@ginislife don’t be scared. It’s a big anti climax really, it doesn’t hurt and often people don’t even feel it at all. Remember the reasons that you got the prescription in the first place, and crack on. If you don’t like it you don’t have to do another injection.

Peanutbutterjelly123 · 18/06/2025 22:36

I’ve just done my second injection today, so a little ahead but not by much ☺️

holisticlifestyleclinic · 18/06/2025 22:38

I hope the WLI helps you on your way to gain food freedom. It works best if you implement the recommended changes such as keeping well hydrates, eat smaller meals and avoid fatty/fried foods. Its also a good opportunity to start working on your eating habits so you wont have to rely on it long-term.

CaptivePeanut · 19/06/2025 06:05

Thanks @SilenceInsideI will join them too.

@ginislifei was the same as i remember having to inject blood thinners after both my kids and they were horrible. I didnt even notice this jab lol. How did you find it?

Annoyingly I started feeling rough yesterday morning with a cold so if I did have any immediate side effects I have no idea if it's the jab or cold which I guess may be more of a blessing.

@Peanutbutterjelly123 how have you found it so far?

CandyflossKid · 19/06/2025 07:06

I'm starting next Monday and getting a little nervous......

CaptivePeanut · 19/06/2025 07:16

@CandyflossKidIts pretty normal to feel nervous, i was the same. You kind of get in your head that its going to be bad but I was pleasantly suprised. What part are you nervous about the injecting or how it will effect you?

OP posts:
Peanutbutterjelly123 · 19/06/2025 14:47

@CaptivePeanut I have found it okay so far. Felt nauseous and tired the first few days but it eased off after that and have been fine since.
definitely not eating as much and the food noise has lessened but I do still have an appetite x

CaptivePeanut · 19/06/2025 15:34

@Peanutbutterjelly123that's great to hear it's not been too bad for you and im sure the suppression will take full effect soon. What have you been eating? Im finding I'm not really hungry so just snacking on fruit snd had rice for lunch. Need to make a better plan for meals going forward.

OP posts:
Peanutbutterjelly123 · 19/06/2025 20:50

@CaptivePeanut yeah I’ve probably not been eating as much as I should to be honest, think I also need to plan my meals better.
have been having a lot of fruit and yoghurt or eggs & avo for breakfast then whatever the family is having for tea and one coffee a day xx

CaptivePeanut · 25/06/2025 05:39

Week 1 weigh in and 2.7kg lost. Happy with that seen as I haven't fully changed my diet just reduced the portion size.
No real side effects to report but I have been hungrier the last couple of days and ravenous this morning. Food noise is still very much there and a battle but I haven't felt hungry most of the week. All in all it's been a good week 😁

OP posts:
Peanutbutterjelly123 · 25/06/2025 07:27

@CaptivePeanut thats good to hear. I don’t think 2.5 works for everyone.
it has definitely helped me but I’m still fighting the hunger so will be off up to 5 next time. I’ve just taken my third dose and all good so far.
think I’ve lost about 3kg which I’m happy with as I don’t have masses to loose xx

CaptivePeanut · 25/06/2025 07:48

@Peanutbutterjelly123 Yea it's interesting how it effects people differently as I don't have the hunger until yesterday/today. I also dont seem to feel when I'm full so I'm stopping before I think I'm full as I felt funny when I over ate this week. Have you found its effected your toilet habits? I have been more regular which surprised me lol

OP posts:
Peanutbutterjelly123 · 25/06/2025 18:55

@CaptivePeanut I have definitely felt off when I have eaten too much.
my bowel movements haven’t actually changed to be honest xx

CaptivePeanut · 25/06/2025 20:06

@Peanutbutterjelly123 I was really full on Sunday after a picky dinner and almost felt a little out of it like I had been drinking but I hadn't had a drop. It was so bizarre and tonight after my second jab I feel a bit off again and I have only had a little bit of chicken and a yoghurt for dinner. Think my body is just adjusting to it.
Glad you haven't had much changes or side effects, makes it all the more worth while. Do you have an idea of your goal and timeframes? X

OP posts:
Peanutbutterjelly123 · 25/06/2025 20:30

@CaptivePeanut

I ideally wanted to loose about 10kg. I’ve lost about 3/4. How much are you wanting to loose? Xx
(TW)
but found out today I’m unexpectedly pregnant so gonna have to stop for now and start again down the line.

CaptivePeanut · 25/06/2025 20:36

@Peanutbutterjelly123congratulations, I have heard a few people have got pregnant unexpectedly on the WLI. Do you already have children?
I have about 70kg to loose. My weight has got out of control and I essentially need to loose half my body weight to get just into the healthy BMI bracket so it's going to be a long slog x
