I got my fist Kwikpen yesterday and took my first dose tonight. Hoping there maybe some others starting this week who want to share the journey together.
I used to go to Slimming World, tried keto, the fast800 and various other diet and was never able to stick them out long as I'm far too impatient. I am so desperate to feel better about myself and get my confidence back, which I haven't seen since I was 20, so would love so moral support along the way.

@CaptivePeanut
Thankyou. Yes we already have a daughter, and sadly lost our son at 35 weeks in January. I have very irregular cycles and don’t ovulate often, I know my usual symptoms so we avoid that time of the month, but didn’t have any symptoms of it at all.
it’s a bit of a shock, but a happy one.

it might be a long slog, but definitely better to do it in a healthy and maintainable way xx

CaptivePeanut · 26/06/2025 17:41

@Peanutbutterjelly123I'm so sorry to hear about your son.
Do you think the injection threw off your symptoms? There's a lot in the news recently about it effecting the pill etc so may have masked your usual symptoms.
Its very exciting though, so pleased for you 😁 x

@CaptivePeanut potentially who knows 🤷‍♀️ but definitely not taking any more now. Will have to get back on my weight loss journey afterwards x

ginislife · 28/06/2025 00:07

So, I was a brave soldier and did my first dose a week ago today and my second this morning. I’ve not lost an ounce this week. If anything I’ve felt more hungry !!! I feel a bit nauseous now - but then it’s late, I’ve been out all evening and I’m really tired. Let’s see what this week brings.

CaptivePeanut · 28/06/2025 06:11

@ginislifedo you have one of those scales which splits down your weight into body fat muscle fat etc? I use one of those and whilst I appreciate they are inaccurate, mine told me I had lost fat but gains muscle weight so it could be something like that?
Did you also take body measurements as sometimes that can change if the scales dont.

@Peanutbutterjelly123congratulations, I have heard a few people have got pregnant unexpectedly on the WLI. Do you already have children?
I have about 70kg to loose. My weight has got out of control and I essentially need to loose half my body weight to get just into the healthy BMI bracket so it's going to be a long slog x

Me too - need to lose half my body weight to be in healthy BMI, which I have never been in my entire life.

Took my first jab weds night so today will be day 3. I was expecting more symptoms but have to keep reminding myself that it build up in your system over the first 4 weeks and I’m not going to bail! Took me ages to do first dose but then it was nothing. I immediately felt funny taste in my mouth and a bit nausea bit of course that must be in my head.
Thursday didn’t feel anything different really.
Friday ditto but definitely found I ate a lot less than I would have usually, was v tired, and seemed to have this quiet signal coming my way telling me I didn’t need or want to nibble.

Basically, from what everyone says I was expecting: ‘I CANNOT EAT ANYTHING, I FORGET TO EAT, IM STUFFED’ but really what I’m getting is ‘huh, I don’t need that, I’m busy doing XYZ, I’ll grab something later’ etc. Which is nice!

Im doing Slimpod, journaling, seeing a PT etc alongside so hoping I’ll see some results! Am trying hard not to freak out that I’m not feeling massive effects. Jab and dose was so tiny though (WHOLE PEN is 2.5mg, I was shocked that dose is only 0.6!) so makes sense that it will be a gentle start. Just really hope i lose something in week 1.

You are getting confused between mg and ml. This may seem picky, but it’s important to anyone using syringes or altering doses so please forgive me.

The starting dose is 2.5mg of the drug, dissolved in 0.6ml of solution. For all doses of pens the volume of a standard dose remains 0.6ml, but the solution gets stronger. So if you take 0.6ml from a 10mg pen you will inject 10 mg of the active drug.

The whole PEN is 2.5ml . Not mg. So it contains four 0.6ml doses plus some extra for priming. This remains the same at all doses.

So if that remains the same (4x 0.6ml doses) then what’s the difference between the pens then?

Anyway I’ve apparently put on 2.3lb since Wednesday night so clearly shit at this whole shebang!

The solution gets stronger as the dose goes up. Think of it like dissolving sugar in water. The mg is a measure of weight, so that the weight of the sugar. The ml is a measure of volume, so that’s the amount of water you use.

multiplying everything by 1000 to make it easier to visualise:

  • For the lowest dose you would dissolve 2.5 g of sugar in 600ml of water
  • For the 5mg dose you would dissolve 5g of sugar in 600ml of water
  • for the 10mg dose you would dissolve 10g of sugar in 600ml of water.

so in each case you end up with 600ml of sweet water. But if you drink the last one you would get four times the amount of sugar as the first.

You really don’t need to worry about any of that provided you’re taking the pens exactly as recommended. But please don’t start mucking around with dosing and syringes unless you do fully understand what I’ve just written. Otherwise it’s very easy to do what someone on here did a couple of weeks ago and take four times the recommended dose 😞.

This 100%. It horrifies me the number of posters on here who are using the medicine off label without understanding how to calculate for themselves what they are taking and record this accurately. if you cannot confidently do this, then please stick to the instructions. Do not rely on click charts or asking some anonymous poster online how many clicks or ml to take to get a certain dose.

how to work it out for yourself - one more time…

dose you take in clicks or ml, divided by the dose you should take in clicks or ml (always 60 or 0.6ml, multiplied by the printed pen dosage (eg 2.5/5mg) = what you are actually taking in mg.

It’s always just working out the ratio of amount you are injecting compared to normal amount then x that ratio by the normal mg of the dose.

if the above doesn’t make sense to you - don’t do it. And don’t trust me - some random online person - make sure you understand the numbers.

Ok thanks... I don't think I ever mentioned anything to suggest I might muck around with dosages?? I do appreciate your explanation! :)

CaptivePeanut · 28/06/2025 19:28

@MumjaroI know exactly what you mean, I expected so many side effects and to feel not hungry bla bla bla but didnt get it how every said. I wonder if that will come when going up to the next strength 🤔
Have you felt like you have eaten less? I did the first week but think that was more of a placebo and I definitely still have food noise but hoping that will go soon.
As for the gain, could you be blocked down below or coming on soon that could explain it?

No, you didn’t. I apologise. My post was aimed more at the lurkers and browsers, a scary number of people do seem to do so with little really understanding.

I actually do feel like I’m eating less without thinking about it so that’s good. Still eating the same foods though, but my problem has always been volume and mindlessness rather than eating crap. I do have chocolate next to me right now and while I’m not totally opposed to eating some, I would have gobbled it all by now and actually as I’m thinking of having a piece I do feel a bit nauseous. So I need to LISTEN to that.
It’s all a lot gentler than I was anticipating so that’s good I suppose!
Im still regular poop wise and just finished my period today but good thinking! Will keep going!

CaptivePeanut · 28/06/2025 21:28

@Mumjaroit's probably that which is stopped a loss, I tend to get that.
Sounds like it's a good start with the suppression for you. Do you have a ideal timeframe in mind? Im hoping to be at target by end of next summer 🙂

Same as @AirborneElephanti posted here as I have the same concerns about the mainly very sensible threads on mumsnet starting to have examples of people being unsafe with these meds - sometimes not understanding dosing and also with under eating and lack of nutrients. wasn’t aimed at you or any one poster.

ginislife · 02/08/2025 09:05

6 weeks in, 4 doses of 2.5, a week off, 1 x 5.0 and I’m 9lbs down. Hoped for a bit more but my jeans fit better 😂. Ideally I’d like to lose another 14lbs to get me to where I was in 2007 and thought I was fat but I’ll be happy with 11. The stupid thing with me is I was seriously ill in 2018/19 and lost 4.5 stone in 4 months. I looked like the proverbial lolly pop head as I was far too thin. Once I could eat again I just ate what I liked to get weight back on me - but then didn’t stop when I reached where I’d want to be. I did only ever put 3 of the 4.5 back on but how stupid !!
