7 stone down on mounjaro - but not seeing a change in dress size

stclementine · 17/06/2025 20:33

Just that really. I’ve been taking mounjaro for just over a year and gone from 17.5 stone to 9.13 as of this morning, yet I’ve only gone down from a 24/26 dress size to a 20/22. It’s making me doubt myself, my scales, everything. People are noticing that I’ve lost weight and some of my old clothes are nit ridiculously baggy, but I thought I’d be smaller by now? I’m short - barely 5’2” and middle aged so have that spread (but not menopausal or even peri menopausal). Is it me, or have other people had a similar experience? I’ve got 3 stone to go until I’m in the middle of normal BMI.

Have you weighed yourself in a pharmacy or GPs? Boots have a weigh machine that also gives body fat measurements.

I am n also 5ft 2 and weigh more than 9 stone 13 and yet I don’t own anything above a size 14, so I’m wondering if you are really under 10 stone?

When I was just under 13 stone I was about size 16.

Mirabai · 19/06/2025 08:33

Juic · 19/06/2025 00:19

Exactly.

I’m 5ft 2 and weigh around 10st 7 and these
figures aren’t adding up. I’m a size 10/12. When I was 9 stone I wore size 8-10.

Middle of the (NHS recommended) weight range would be something like 8 stone 10.

You’re actually both in the overweight category to be fair. No judgement at all but that may skew your idea of where the norm should be.

No, that’s nonsense. It doesn’t skew my idea of the norm at all. If anything I am more keenly aware of the weight ranges of my height because I’ve been on a weight loss journey and check back on the NHS calculator website. I’ve also been different weights at different points of my life, usually within the normal range for most of my adult life.

This may not be exact but off the top of my head the upper limit for my height is (approx) l 9 stone 10 and the lower range is about 7 stone 7. Therefore we were right to say that OP was incorrect in saying that was the “middle of the BMI range”

I’ve just checked the NHS website and the healthy “weight for your height is between 7 stone 4 pounds and 9 stone 10 pounds.” So I was a few pounds off, but still very close. Therefore the 7 stone 5 OP suggested is not the “middle BMI” for her weight, it would be - as I said - closer to 8 stone 10 which is my old weight (BMI 22).

Objectively, the OP was incorrect in saying that 7st7lbs was in the middle of the healthy weight range for her height. Nothing to do with anyone’s perspective.

WasherWoman25 · 19/06/2025 08:48

I’ve lost almost 4st, starting at 20st. I was telling myself at that point I was 22 but realistically I was more like a 24 (had a couple of 24 trousers and 22s were tight, wouldn’t have bought them like that). I can still wear some of the clothes, ie with a belt or tucking in a blouse etc so was feeling too soon to go shopping but I went and tried some stuff on and now very comfortably an 18.

You need to go actually try on clothes (then get on Vinted and replace your wardrobe).

Correcting myself as it’s too late to edit : I meant to say OP suggested 7 stone 7 or 7.5 stone, not 7 stone 5 , but yeah either way still not the “middle” of normal BMI so the point still stands, even if I’ve fumbled the numbers slightly 😆

She’s correct in saying it’s in the healthy weight for her height.

One has to question the motives of posters seizing on the “middle” wording.

Ranges is all hypothetical numbers. If your lived experience is to carry a bit of weight for your height then someone of the same height with a much lower weight may seem concerning to you, even if they’re in the normal and healthy range.

I think those posters were just clarifying that she had her numbers right overall because a lot of what the OP posted didn’t seem to make sense. She clearly said that to be in the middle of a healthy weight range she’d be 7 stone 7lbs, whereas actually that would be at the very lower end of a healthy weight for her height.

WhereHasMyPlanetGone · 19/06/2025 12:40

(I have spent most of my life on the lower end of a healthy BMI by the way so I don’t think this is anything to do with my perspective, or any dubious motives)

thewrongfish · 19/06/2025 12:42

I am 5ft 3, weigh about 11st 11

size 16-18

I am an apple and have slim legs but carry it all on my stomach

Marmite27 · 19/06/2025 12:43

I'm 5'2" and weigh 10st even (still working on it!) and I'm in size 10/12 - there is no way you are still a 20/22!

KrankyKumquat · 19/06/2025 12:57

I've lost 6st and gone from a size 20/22 to a comfy size 10. At about 3st loss, nothing fitted, not even my knickers. And I was someone who believed i was a big frame so would never be this small - relatively tall, broad, big feet, and chesty. There is absolutely no way someone could lose this much weight and not be a smaller size. Where's all the excess weight gone from, the face, the feet? Even a big loss of internal visceral fat would result in a smaller belly.

Exactly this - thank you! What OP said was just factually wrong - simple.

Just like someone would be wrong if they said at 9 stone 8 they are middle of the healthy weight range - they wouldn’t be, they’d be at the higher end of their weight range (at 5ft 2)

Just stating facts, nothing to do with my own current weight @Mirabai - and as it happens I was actually closer to middle of the weight range (BMI 22) for most of my life.

I’ve already addressed the fact that most of my “lived experience” is to be within the healthy weight range, and often very close to the middle of that.

But just to be clear, I never said anything about being concerned about someone with a much lower weight. I just stated the facts about the healthy weight range for our height.

And tbh I’d say one has to question your motives to jump in and claim it’s because me and @Shmee1988 are overweight that we are saying what is factually true.

Shmee1988 · 19/06/2025 13:39

Mirabai · 18/06/2025 23:58

7 stone 7 is a BMI of 19.2 which is in the healthy range. 18.5 is the lowest. With respect you’re actually in the overweight category. Equally in the age of size inflation, sizes have shifted up at least one so a current 12 is an old 14.

I am fully aware that I am in the over weight category, although I thank you for pointing that out. It wasn't really the point of my comment though. A grown woman dropping to 7.5stone at 5ft 2 would (in my opinion) look a little bit gaunt and unhealthy and BMI should really be ignored.

Ihateboris · 19/06/2025 13:39

This cannot be right. I'm 5ft 5in, weigh 9 stone, and wear a dress size 8!

Fact is that 7 and a half stone is in the healthy range for OP’s height. That’s all there is to it.

This is exactly the type of perspective I was referring to.

The idea that someone of 5’2 would look “gaunt” or “unhealthy” at 7 stone 7 is entirely fantastical and purely an assumption on your part. It’s absolutely in the healthy range.

Our supersized society has lost sight of normal.

I don’t think the OP would look gaunt at 7st 7lbs. As I said, I’ve spent most of my adult life at the lower end of the healthy weight range.
7st 7lbs isn’t in the middle of the healthy range at 5ft 2 though, which is what the OP said.

Because they’re responding to you accusing us of nefarious reasons for pointing out that it’s not in the middle of the healthy weight range 🤷🏻‍♀️. Thats why I keep replying anyway.

TouchOfSilverShampoo · 19/06/2025 16:09

Op do you feel brave enough to share a pic because I cannot comprehend how you’re still that dress size?

Crikeyalmighty · 19/06/2025 16:15

You can’t be correct OP - I’m 13 stone 9 at moment and an 18 in some things, 16 in others that have a bit of stretch - and I’m 5 ft 4
