7 stone down on mounjaro - but not seeing a change in dress size

Just that really. I’ve been taking mounjaro for just over a year and gone from 17.5 stone to 9.13 as of this morning, yet I’ve only gone down from a 24/26 dress size to a 20/22. It’s making me doubt myself, my scales, everything. People are noticing that I’ve lost weight and some of my old clothes are nit ridiculously baggy, but I thought I’d be smaller by now? I’m short - barely 5’2” and middle aged so have that spread (but not menopausal or even peri menopausal). Is it me, or have other people had a similar experience? I’ve got 3 stone to go until I’m in the middle of normal BMI.

None of this makes sense.. like others have said I'm 9st 13 and a 10/12. Yeah you could have loose skin from the weight loss, but no way can you be a size 22!

Mirabai · 17/06/2025 21:25

I’m sure if you tried clothes on you’d find you fit into smaller sizes.

7 st 7 lbs is a reasonable goal for 5’ 2. I’m 5’4 and 7 stone 12.

Ok just me then. 7.5 stone is middle of normal for me so 2.5 nit three, sorry. Definitely lost 7.5 stone as I’ve been using the same scales from the start. I haven’t tried to get into smaller clothes as a 22 still feels like it fits me. I have still got a stomach, big arse etc. doesn’t feel like loose skin, but as I’ve never lost this much weight before I guess I don’t knkw what loose skin without the under, ting flab is like.

You’ve only got 1.5 stone to lose to get to a mid range bmi.

You will almost certainly be a size 14 max - go try some clothes on rather than wearing your loose dresses.

SilenceInside · 17/06/2025 21:34

Perhaps if you are carrying the remaining weight on your waist, it might seem like you haven’t dropped many dress sizes? Have you measured yourself and checked what size your body measurements would make you in various shops?

Todaytomorrowforever · 17/06/2025 21:38

I was convinced I’d not come
down any dress sizes despite losing 5 stone. Turns out, I did not have any mirrors in my house and my big clothes still felt ok, and in my head I was still huge.

Then I caught sight of myself in a mirror in Ikea and was like holy shit - that top is hanging off me. So, yeah - I went to buy new clothes soon after that, several sizes smaller.

I still look at the smaller sizes when I’m hanging them up to dry and think there’s no way those fit me. But they do. Some even getting too loose now.

endzone · 17/06/2025 21:38

Well if you haven’t tried smaller clothes what do you expect?

ThisMustBeMyDream · 17/06/2025 21:41

I can't see how this would be possible. I lost the same amount of weight, to the same size (I'm 9st 9 right now) and I'm the same height as you. I wear a size 8. Down from an 18.

I do have mirrors, but not full length ones just either face or down to my waist. I do still feel fat yes. I wore a blouse today that was a size 24 and it felt so huge and I looked terrible in it. I still hold onto weight around my midriff and stomach so maybe that’s it. I’ll try some smaller sizes. It’s really depressing to think that I’m still such a big size even though I’ve lost so much.

You would know what loose skin is like on that weight loss

WhereHasMyPlanetGone · 17/06/2025 21:52

I wore a blouse today that was a size 24 and it felt so huge and I looked terrible in it

Surely here’s your answer then? If it ‘felt huge’ then you’re wearing clothes that are far too big.

Witchling · 17/06/2025 21:52

Put on some leggings. And a tightish t shirt, and take a photo.

Post it here

SilenceInside · 17/06/2025 21:53

You just cannot be a size 24! I was a size 24 when I was 22st, I’m now just about 13st and a size 16.

you're obviously not still such a big size if the size 24 blouse felt huge-it's because it is huge. Get shopping :)

Witchling · 17/06/2025 21:54

I'm just down 3 stone, and have gone from a 18 to a 12 (tops) and bought a small in next Today. I still feel huge though, so I understand where you are coming from

BearyNiceEars · 17/06/2025 21:59

With the info you posted, you sound more like a 12-14, go shopping and try some new clothes on. You likely have preconceived ideas about how your own clothes should fit which is affecting your ability to judge objectively. Congrats on the weight loss!

Iwishicouldflyhigh · 17/06/2025 22:03

TheCurious0range · 17/06/2025 20:35

There is no way you can be a size 20/22 at 9.13 unless you are 3ft tall

😂😂😂😂😂😂

yakkity · 17/06/2025 22:06

OP you are having some sort of weird confused thinking

LurkyMcLurkinson · 17/06/2025 22:13

You should speak to your gp about body dysmorphia

Dysmorphia · 17/06/2025 22:17

As someone with body dysmorphia I understand why you may think you are still that size but you are very wrong. I say this kindly - please get a grip.

Go and try on smaller clothes. A size 12 to start. Take photos, don't just rely on what you see in the mirror as you're brain can still trick you. Focus on how a smaller size feels too. Fitted but not digging in. Fitted not hanging off you and swamping and hiding you.

You deserve nice clothes that fit correctly and make you feel and look good.

Well done on your weight loss. You have done an amazing job and I hope you are proud of what you have achieved for your health.

BrendaSmall · 17/06/2025 22:19

I’ve lost just over 3 stone and I’ve yet to drop a dress size

Doggymummar · 17/06/2025 22:26

I started at 18.2 and a size 20. Now Im not sure on weight, about 12 stone and I am 5 ft 4 but BMI is 28 and my top today was a H&m xs, I am also xs in Zara and an 8 in other places. Knickers from 3xl to medium, tho could probably use a small now. Pjs, jeans and elastic linen trousers all size 10. I look at my clothes and don't believe they will fit so I understand where you are coming from. You need to try some things. I would start with bra and knickers

CaptainCarrotsBigSword · 17/06/2025 22:28

OP I would book a personal shopper appointment at John Lewis or similar. You fill in a form when you book about sizing etc so you can say you don't know what size you are having lost weight recently. They will be able to look at you from a fresh perspective and will then go off round the shop to find you things to try on. I did it when I needed a wedding outfit having lost some weight and just not knowing what would suit my body, the lass that did the appointment was great and everything she pulled for me fit me well, it was such a confidence booster.

Downing4packsofharibo · 17/06/2025 22:29

I’ve lost 7 stone, from 18st to 11st and I’ve gone from a size 22 to a 12. I’ve actually picked up a 10 in some bits recently. I’m 5’3. I do have some aspects of dysmorphia as well and can’t believe how large I still feel and how I don’t feel hugely different.
Anything I own in a 22 would be comically large on me now and trousers wouldn’t be staying up at all.

ShrankLastWinter · 17/06/2025 22:30

Do you have a tape measure? What is your circumference at neck, bust, waist (smallest) and hip (widest point)?

AppleOfMyThirdEye · 17/06/2025 22:32

I’d expect you to be a size 12-14 at that weight OP.
