7 stone down on mounjaro - but not seeing a change in dress size

Just that really. I’ve been taking mounjaro for just over a year and gone from 17.5 stone to 9.13 as of this morning, yet I’ve only gone down from a 24/26 dress size to a 20/22. It’s making me doubt myself, my scales, everything. People are noticing that I’ve lost weight and some of my old clothes are nit ridiculously baggy, but I thought I’d be smaller by now? I’m short - barely 5’2” and middle aged so have that spread (but not menopausal or even peri menopausal). Is it me, or have other people had a similar experience? I’ve got 3 stone to go until I’m in the middle of normal BMI.

I started at 18.2 and a size 20. Now Im not sure on weight, about 12 stone and I am 5 ft 4 but BMI is 28 and my top today was a H&m xs, I am also xs in Zara and an 8 in other places. Knickers from 3xl to medium, tho could probably use a small now. Pjs, jeans and elastic linen trousers all size 10. I look at my clothes and don't believe they will fit so I understand where you are coming from. You need to try some things. I would start with bra and knickers

This just shows how impossible it is to compare as i’m 5ft 4, 9.5 stone and a size 12! At 12 stone I was a 16

I do have mirrors, but not full length ones just either face or down to my waist. I do still feel fat yes. I wore a blouse today that was a size 24 and it felt so huge and I looked terrible in it. I still hold onto weight around my midriff and stomach so maybe that’s it. I’ll try some smaller sizes. It’s really depressing to think that I’m still such a big size even though I’ve lost so much.

You're not such a big size.
You haven't actually tried smaller clothes on, have you.
🤣

QuartzIlikeit · 17/06/2025 22:39

Ive lost 4 stone in monjaro (gone from 18.10 to 14.10) and still have only dropped down 1 size - 18 to a 16 (although I'm still an 18 in jeans!). It's bloody maddening so I completely get how for some people (big of arse and wide of hips like me) haven't dropped many dresses sizes at all.

mrsconradfisher · 17/06/2025 22:40

Absolutely impossible! I’m only 4ft 10 and weigh about 75kg (yes I need to lose weight) but I’m a size 16. In fact in some things I’m a 14, It’s my boobs that are part of the reason I need a bigger size.

Well if you haven’t tried smaller clothes what do you expect?

This

Ok just me then. 7.5 stone is middle of normal for me so 2.5 nit three, sorry. Definitely lost 7.5 stone as I’ve been using the same scales from the start. I haven’t tried to get into smaller clothes as a 22 still feels like it fits me. I have still got a stomach, big arse etc. doesn’t feel like loose skin, but as I’ve never lost this much weight before I guess I don’t knkw what loose skin without the under, ting flab is like.

According to the NHS app someone who is 5 foot two a healthy weight is between 7 stone 3 and 9 stone 11. So 7. 5 stone is at the lower end of healthy not the mid range!
Re your clothes have you tried smaller sizes? Your current clothes must be too.big . I am 5 2 and weigh more than you do and I am.a size 14/16.

Boreded · 17/06/2025 22:58

Get some brilliant spanks and a personal shopper

MrsMoastyToasty · 17/06/2025 22:58

With that weight loss would expect everything to be hanging off you including your bras and pants.
Before you buy any clothes get a bra fitting at somewhere like John Lewis or Bravissimo. Once your boobs are properly lifted into place you will probably see a defined waist.

CautiousLurker01 · 18/06/2025 00:31

Agree this makes no sense. I’ve lost 6.5st on mounjaro/ozempic and am 10st5 and 5ft5 - am size 10 having gone from @ size 20 (not actually sure as once I couldn’t fit s18 I just bought those ‘one size’ floaty tops and leggings in the garden centred pitched at 70yo’s!)

Either your scales are wrong or you are buying tent dresses from Evans.

iamnotalemon · 18/06/2025 01:56

You may still see yourself as bigger than you are. Definitely try some smaller clothes be you may be surprised!

bipbopdo · 18/06/2025 02:24

Well done for losing the weight! It sounds like you lost it all in a relatively short amount of time. Could it be possible your brain hasn’t caught up yet? It seems very unlikely that you would be a 20/22 at your current weight (even if loose skin is an issue). Definitely take yourself shopping to try some smaller sizes.

Another thing that might help is comparing a photo of you at your heaviest with a photo of you now. I’ll eat my hat if you don’t see a huge difference!

Notellinganyone · 18/06/2025 07:13

At 7.5 you would probably look ill. I’m your height and am a size 10 at 9/stone. I was 7/stone in my teens and would look terrible at that weight in my late 50s. I’m currently 12 stone 5 I’m a size 16.

Yes, I wonder whether you have some level of body dysmorphia (or whatever it is called).

I can see that I am slimmer than I was at nearly 17st, but I only look/feel a ‘bit’ smaller. When I iron my size 10 clothes - the jeans especially - they look like kids’ clothes. The same when I go into shops and pick up the size 10s off the rack - I always expect them NOT to fit. I still cannot believe every single time that I can be ‘that’ small now. I think my brain is a bit skewed and still sees me as bigger, so I have to just accept that what I see in the mirror doesn’t compute with the reality.

There is probably therapy available but I am happy to potter along feeling a tiny bit insecure about it as it is keeping me on the straight and narrow now I am focused on maintaining my weight.

If you feel insecure - I would suggest measuring yourself, checking the size guides to see whether you are a 12 by their tables, and ordering some clothes in smaller sizes from Next or similar so that you can try them on at home in private. It is a real psychological adjustment When you have lost as much weight as you have OP. Take a moment to reconnect with your body and feel proud of your achievement. Losing the weight is only a small part of the process.

Mirabai · 17/06/2025 21:25

I’m sure if you tried clothes on you’d find you fit into smaller sizes.

7 st 7 lbs is a reasonable goal for 5’ 2. I’m 5’4 and 7 stone 12.

7 stone 7 is only a reasonable goal for 5’2 if you’ve got quite a small frame I would say. It’s certainly not in the middle of a healthy bmi.

IrisPallida · 18/06/2025 14:01

I guess I don’t knkw what loose skin without the under, ting flab is like.

Jumped the shark here. Blew it, sorry.

You absolutely would know what loose skin is if you had any, and after that loss you would have plenty.

I strongly suggest that no-one wastes their time with this thread.

stclementine · 18/06/2025 20:07

Dysmorphia · 17/06/2025 22:17

As someone with body dysmorphia I understand why you may think you are still that size but you are very wrong. I say this kindly - please get a grip.

Go and try on smaller clothes. A size 12 to start. Take photos, don't just rely on what you see in the mirror as you're brain can still trick you. Focus on how a smaller size feels too. Fitted but not digging in. Fitted not hanging off you and swamping and hiding you.

You deserve nice clothes that fit correctly and make you feel and look good.

Well done on your weight loss. You have done an amazing job and I hope you are proud of what you have achieved for your health.

Thank you. I think you’re all correct. I do like loose clothes and hate the thoight of anything tight. I a,so do have big boobs. I do need to get a grip because this really isn’t a bad problem to have.

7.5st is not the middle of healthy for someone of 5ft2. I am 5ft 2, I weigh 10st 5 at the moment and comfortably get in a 12, sometimes in a 10. 7.5 is the lowest possible end of healthy bmi before reaching under weight.

Iamthemoom · 18/06/2025 20:24

I’m the same height and weight as you and I wear a size 10.

Fitasafiddle1 · 18/06/2025 20:39

I am a size 10 and your weight ( just under) something doesn’t sound right. Your pants will be your ankles for one!!

7 stone 7 is a BMI of 19.2 which is in the healthy range. 18.5 is the lowest. With respect you’re actually in the overweight category. Equally in the age of size inflation, sizes have shifted up at least one so a current 12 is an old 14.

She’s 5’2 how big can her frame be. I didn’t say it was in the middle of the healthy BMI and there’s no rule that says you must be.

Thekormachameleon · 19/06/2025 00:13

@stclementine there’s just simply no way this is true
I’m 5’4, 14.5 stone and big built with H cup boobs and I wear between a 14 bottom and 20 top (the 20 being massive everywhere apart from boobs)

BusyBeatle · 19/06/2025 00:16

Oh, stop it! There is no way that’s possible

Exactly.

I’m 5ft 2 and weigh around 10st 7 and these
figures aren’t adding up. I’m a size 10/12. When I was 9 stone I wore size 8-10.

Middle of the (NHS recommended) weight range would be something like 8 stone 10.
