Hi all,

really great to hear all the updates , losses and NSV’s!

I’m here to talk about poo , as is my wont…but also chia seeds!

so, I’ve been in a good habit of using movicol every other day. But I’m trying to find dietary hacks to replace this.

which brings me to overnight oats and chia pits , or Kiki pots.. as we call them (my wife has really a adorable habit of misnaming/renaming things, and I was calling them chia pots ages ago when she referred to them as Kiki pots once and it just stuck!)

So, for the last week or so I’ve been having a large tablespoon of chia seeds in my overnight oats…

in my Kiki pots i put a tablespoon of dried chia seeds, a good 2 tablespoons of oats, and a tablespoon of mixed seeds (flax, linseed, pumpkin etc) … along with milk and then fill the jar up with frozen fruit.

im generally pretty on/off with the Kiki pots to be honest. I usually eat them a few time a week at the most.

however, eating this every day this week has produced truly remarkable results. I haven’t had Movicol for around 4 or 5 days, and have not been constipated. Maybe it’s a fluke but I’m going to be regimented in making a Kiki pot for every day, and see if it continues.

Things that make this easier to maintain-

I always have frozen fruit in freezer , usually raspberries, sometimes blueberry’s. I go though about 2 bags a week.

I have a jar of oats, a jar of chia seeds and my seed jar which I top up with different seeds every week.
They all sit on the counter top- they look pretty and it gives me joy to see them every day. The nut jar also hangs out with them on the counter top , which inspires me to grab a handful of nuts now and then.

I have added the seeds, nuts, oats and frozen fruit to the regular shopping list, so I don’t run out. I buy different seeds/nuts each week on rotation so the jars have variety rather than loads of one type.

I bought specific jars from Amazon (we all have a designated jar with our own unique coloured lid, which makes it easy to all have different Kiki pots as we fancy- the kids like cherry and chocolate chip flavour. Wife and kids put their order in when I make them each night )
This is rather than using old jam jars, which I used to do. I used a beetroot jar once .. gross, tasted like vinegar.

So anyway… Thanks for coming to my Kiki pot TedTalk 🤣🤣🤣

I was doing quite well with overnight oats (but made with high protein yoghurt) but I stopped because I'm just not hungry in the morning at all. If chia helps though, I am willing to give it a go, so thanks @Ricoletti !

I started taking a Magnesium complex partly for sleep, partly for restless legs and partly for 'movement' and I have been much better with it.

bridgetreilly · 05/07/2025 14:28

It makes me so sad that people stop themselves from doing things and having fun because of their weight. I started wild swimming at 18 stone and I love it. Just do it!

yea I don’t get hungry for brekkie either. I eat my Kiki pots at about 11am, it’s usually my ‘lunch’ . Then i have some fruit or raw veggies later in day if peckish again .

I figure it’s a pretty healthy lunch option even if it seems more breakfasty.

my eating habits have changed loads. I’ve embraced my toddler ways, as this feels a much more natural way for me to eat. I will joyfully have a cheese string , a few ‘baby food’ rice cakes and some carrot sticks for a snack with zero shame 🤣

OMG yes magnesium is amazing! I’ve suffered with restless legs for years and this has been a game changer for me. I’m not convinced it helps me poo, but my legs are much less haunted at night and it’s helping me sleep too!

I love this!!!!
I have friends who wild swim and they credit it for supporting their mental health massively xx

W11 D3 and I have my first experience of sulphur burps 😬 Weird as I’m on my 7th dose of 5mg and barely ate yesterday due to work and domestic commitments. Off to hunt for DH’s peppermint capsules (prescribed for IBS).

NSV - my mum said to me, “you’ve lost a lot of weight.”

Happy Saturday!

Oh yikes. This sounds rough! Hope the peppermint helps x

Day 1, week 11. I stayed the same this week. Still 94.3. I know why, sweet things have crept in from dds birthday . It’s my birthday tomorrow so it may be tricky for a few days yet. Think I will go to 7.5 for the next pen. I’m not downhearted, it’s a nudge to do better but in general I have made good choices , but clearly I can’t have cake and icecream and lose weight.Who knew?😬

maintaining is good though, it’s not a gain ! And I believe cake is important at birthdays. Hope you have lovely time on your birthday tomorrow xx

Zebracat · 05/07/2025 15:02

@Ricoletti thank you so much. I was a little bit demotivated by it .

Ricoletti · 05/07/2025 15:27

Zebracat · 05/07/2025 15:02

@Ricoletti thank you so much. I was a little bit demotivated by it .

Please don’t feel demotivated, You are doing amazing!

when I stay the same or even gain a little bit, I remind myself how far I’ve come in this journey and that small blips are ok, I’m still moving in the right direction.

In the past I would have eaten the whole cake and hoovered up all the crisps and party food leftover laying around… I wouldn’t have thought twice about it.

But , you are recognising that this has been an unusual week due to the celebrations and extra sweet things around , and you are mindful of how this food has impacted your weight. I don’t know about you, but pre MJ me wouldn’t have been so reflective of this and the next week would have been the same with other reasons why I was eating treat food with occasional moment of negative self talk … and the week after that again… shame spiral 🌀

So , now you just get back on your horse (or zebra?) and keep riding this journey. Wave that cowgirl hat in the air and say ‘I’m amazing ’ ….

Tomorrow there may be more cake, or other celebration food… and you may have some… and you may not lose weight next week…. But it’s not a failure or a negative. It’s part of your new learning about your body and your goals. And normalising having some treats sometimes , which is normal life and is how it should be.

I’m proud of you xxxx

PoisonIvy89 · 05/07/2025 17:40

@violetmondays I got a box of 100 for 3.99 from chemist4u. I only wanted a few spares after wasting a couple of needles with some priming difficulty but could only find boxes of 100

well done @SassyLimeHelper @Chunkysewist @BeachBodyAim

@BeachBodyAim plane gain is definitely a thing, my legs swell up when I fly

@Ricoletti chia seeds give me the ick but I've been adding ground flaxseeds to my oats and protein shakes. your oats making station sounds very efficient and pretty jars make things taste better

violetmondays · 05/07/2025 20:32

Thanks @PeachSnail and @PoisonIvy89, super helpful!

I’ve had a super bad site reaction to the jab this week, it’s so red and itchy! I’ve had a few minor reactions but this is much worse than the others. I wonder if it’s because I did it in a rush and forgot to clean the skin with the alcohol wipe? Not sure, but it’s very annoying.

StartingApril2025 · 05/07/2025 20:36

Hi everyone just checking in, still on holidays - brought my pen with me and managed to do the 3:75mg dose yesterday ok. We are self catering this holiday and have alot of snacks, sweets for kids, Crisps and dips etc etc in and I have genuinely been surprised how much I’ve eaten and been interested in it,it’s like the MJ has taken a holiday too🤪up to now for last 9 weeks I had about three pieces of chocolate in total whereas here I’m having several a day just because it’s right in front of me.its not hunger either! Trying to just see it for what it is and not panic, my meals are generally ok- few wee extra bits like sauces/ dips etc but the snacking the downfall. Back to the straight and narrow once home next week!
been reading and keeping up with all the posts and well done to everyone for another week down, for those with💩 trouble I hope this eases this weekend!

PumpKim · 06/07/2025 08:21

Official weigh in today. Only 0.4lb on my average weight loss. Been expecting that as my daily weighs across the week have fluctuated by more than 3lb up and down. Definitely TOTM on its way.
Still 18.3lb lost overall in 10 weeks.
I had a goal to lose 2 stones by my holiday, which is 8 weigh ins away now. That still feels achievable 🤞

Spoke to my provider about the reaction at injection site and they recommended hydrocortisone which @Ricoletti also said and to buy Fexofenadine over the counter rather than the off the shelf antihistamines. I was already using hydrocortisone but will pick up the stronger antihistamine and see if that helps.

PumpKim · 06/07/2025 09:31

And popping back with a NSV
I've gone down two belt holes 🎉
I haven't really noticed a difference in how my clothes fit but I definitely must be shrinking.

Steala · 06/07/2025 10:00

I'm about to order 10mg. I have had some effects from 7.5, but it is very slow-going. I've lost 11lb in 11 weeks. That is much better than I was managing before, but I still have over 4 stone to go.

GoGoGovy · 06/07/2025 10:11

I feel your pain @Steala . I’m also a plodder. Have you had any NSV’s to give yourself a boost? I’ve just taken some more photos, as I was sure my provider would ask for them ( they didn’t), and there is a noticeable difference in the side photos. My huge barrel shaped belly is definitely getting smaller. I can get in to a couple of dresses that I didn’t fit before. My shoes aren’t as tight.

All NSV’s are good. It’s not all about the scales ( or so I tell myself 😬).
Keep going.

Crunchymum · 06/07/2025 11:46

Steala · 06/07/2025 10:00

I'm about to order 10mg. I have had some effects from 7.5, but it is very slow-going. I've lost 11lb in 11 weeks. That is much better than I was managing before, but I still have over 4 stone to go.

I'm currently debating whether to stay another month on 7.5mg or move up to 10mg.

My loss has been quite good (23lbs in 10 weeks) but I've had very little suppression and it's been mainly willpower and that's what I find hard.

I took my 3rd 7.5mg jab on Friday and I'm going to give it a few more days to see how SE / suppression is before I order.

Week one on 7.5mg suppression was highest I've ever had, lastest for a good 5 days and there were no SE. Week two I had a headache / nausea for the first 3 days and then zero suppression for the rest of the week. So I need to see how week three goes?

I'm away in a few weeks though so I don't really want to be starting at a new dose in-case there are SE? I think it might be prudent to stick for another month. If I do go up I'd be taking week two and three of 10mg whilst away? And I've had SE on week two with both 5mg and 7.5mg so not sure I want to chance it.

Please do let me know how you get on with 10mg. Hoping this is your magic dose.

Ricoletti · 06/07/2025 12:16

@Steala I second @GoGoGovy’s advice re looking for those non scale victories.

i actually find these more motivating than the number on the scales.

i keep trying clothes on to see if I fit them better yet… but only clothes that I’m ‘nearly’ fitting into so as not to feel demoralised.

I reflect on how I feel on a morning , less achey and more flexible.

i can go up the stairs quicker now…. Im not running up yet by any measure, but id say im at a brisk trot rather than hauling my ass up at a very slow and creaky pace now .

I dare say I’m more nimble in general these days…

these things are victories and I cherish them 🙌🏻

Coventree · 06/07/2025 13:07

Well done for all the losses, no matter how slow and steady, and the fab NSVs! Love hearing them 🎉

Wow @brunocatmon, wishing you all the best for when you stop the MJ…but please do let us know how it goes.

Today’s public service 💩 announcement is that there was movement yesterday and today, making it 3 days on the trot! Phew! Still on two of the fig/rhubarb/tamarind cubes so happy to stick with that for the time being and see if it continues to work. But I agree @Ricolettiand @SassyLimeHelper, incorporating things that work into everyday diet is sensible. I do overnight oats and could look to add chia seeds - does anyone know before I google, are they absorbent so I’d need more liquid? This list of high fibre recipes has some lovely sounding ones in there, so I might see what might do for a family dinner (or just make my own portion!): https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/recipes/healthy/high-fibre?srsltid=AfmBOooee1MmIP3HEPmWDr2A5pQL6WyQomPnvPEBqLXVtz9XnuJWNN

ellieinfrance · 06/07/2025 17:05

Have been supervising a Duke of Edinburgh expedition today. Worked out i have lost the equivalent to a fully packed DofE backpack so far! It was rather a nice moment when walking about on the hills!

GeraniumRoseblush · 06/07/2025 18:46

Hi everyone 👋 back from a holiday to the ultimate humiliation of my smart scales asking if I was another person as they couldn't believe the weight I'd put on 😅 thought that was a bit cheeky tbh given it was 3lbs! Anyway don't regret it at all as had a lovely holiday with lots of fizz and cocktails and also no weights and feel like I've had a good diet break.

Due to the upset tummy situ I'd had just before I went, I decided not to take the jab and really noticed my mood lifted over the 2 weeks without a jab so I think MJ affects my dopamine levels. Got back and took a 2.5mg dose and then felt blah again mood-wise, luckily no diarrhoea again so far though.

Anyway my plodding weightloss pace has reduced to glacial pace after my 3lb gain so after 9 weeks:

SW 11'12
CW 11' 1

I'm still taking 2.5mg and have just ordered a 5mg pen - I'm a bit scared to increase dosage as even a 2.9mg dose a few weeks back had a mood impact but maybe I just need to woman up and increase over the next few weeks and remember any effects are short term.

It's so helpful to read the thread and everyone's experiences. Well done to everyone celebrating continued losses 🙌

PoisonIvy89 · 06/07/2025 19:46

1lb down for me this week, trying not to be disappointed with small losses but they do still get to me. Not as much as pre-mounjaro though. Before if I had suffered and starved through a week and seen only a small loss, or none at all, I would have said it's not worth the effort and the hard work and the hunger pains and then quit and eaten a mountain of carbs. But now I can feel disappointed for a moment and then brush it off and say hopefully next week will be a better loss and move on with my day. Anyways 1lb down brings my total to over 25lbs and into the next stone bracket which feels pretty good. I'm hoping for at least 1.5 next week to get under 250lbs

Well done on all the losses and NSVs @PumpKim @GoGoGovy @Ricoletti @ellieinfrance

@Coventree Yay! I'm definitely going to try the cubes, they are in my basket waiting for payday. Yes you'll need to add more liquid for the chia seeds

welcome back @GeraniumRoseblush a 3lb gain is very little really, I bet you would have gained much more on holiday pre-mj

Ricoletti · 06/07/2025 21:17

Hi all,

@ellieinfrance that’s awesome, a whole backpack lost !!!

@GeraniumRoseblushthe utter cheek of your scales, giving it ‘who even are you?’ . I think that’s a very moderate gain, and sounds like it was absolutely worth it for a brilliant holiday!

@Coventree good job on the poo hat trick… 💩💩💩

dozywelshbird · 07/07/2025 07:35

Morning all, some fantastic losses, NSVs including 💩NSVs and some not bad holiday gains all things considered.

I woke up at 2am with awful stomach pains, I've had guests this weekend so while I have eaten okayish in terms of volume, it has been crap food, meals out, lots of wine, cake etc.

I've clearly had a good old clear out 💩 and that has resulted in a whoosh at weigh in this morning, 4lbs off bringing me to 19lb total. Very happy although not the nicest experience at daft o'clock in the morning.
