New to oushk

I have been using Medexpress for a few Months now. As I am nearing bmi of 30 I feel that I should move over to somewhere that can help me with maintenance once I’ve reached my goal weight. I signed up to Oushk the other day, but they have said that they do not have a new initial consultations till end of July. They did have an option to pay £5 for a maintenance appointment. Is this what I want as I am already on my journey? I still have about a 1.5st to go before I reach my goal weight.

The maintenance appointment is to discuss how to maintain weight loss once you have lost all the weight you want to. You actually need an initial consultation if you are still losing weight. Why not book the first initial consultation meeting for the end of July, and continue with your current supplier until you have that meeting?

Bigfatsunandclouds · 15/06/2025 20:23

I was with med Express and similarly to you I wanted Oushk for maintenance, so completed the Oushk ordering, they asked for a picture of me, my ID and my previous medication/prescription for MJ. I have a weight verification booked for August but it didn't stop them dispatching the meds.

Itscoldouthere · 15/06/2025 22:51

@Gotobloodysleep You just need to fill in the consultation form online on their weight loss page, it will ask if you are already taking WLI you say yes and then they will ask for poof of your existing meds, photos of pens with labels, order forms etc, you will need to send photos and ID.
You only need to book a consultation for weight verification which is free, and you can currently get a pen before you’ve had it, although this will be changing in July, when new customers will need weight verification before being prescribed.
The consultations that cost £5 are for maintenance customers who are almost at goal weight, or you can book a consultation if you have something you want individual advice but it’s not something most people do, most new customers just fill in the online forms, if you are new you can use the code WELCOME to get a £30 discount.

Itscoldouthere · 15/06/2025 22:53

So meant to say you don’t need to wait till July you can order straight away.

Gotobloodysleep · 16/06/2025 16:58

Thank you everyone. I’ll look into this again tonight. X

Medexpress do maintenence now. I wouldn't bother with Oushk they charge £15 a month for a maintenance plan when there are now loads of pharmacies offerering it for free, I moved to live well and they've been great.

Hi @Rainbowchicken your post caught my eye as I swapped to Oushk (like OP) to access the maintenance plan. I’ve just looked at Live Well after reading your post and from their web info I can’t see that they prescribe MJ for free as part of their maintenance support, unless it is for tapering down (to make stopping more gradual)?

What seems to be free is the maintenance support (rather than an ongoing MJ prescription for as long as you want it). I could be reading it wrong, but the website info states the maintenance support is free (which includes tapering down) but doesn’t mention ongoing / long term maintenance dosing.
I’d be interested to know how far along you are with them, ie have you tapered down to a maintenance dose (to keep weight stable) and are they now prescribing you free pens to maintain your losses?

I’d be amazed if they prescribe free pens for MJ patients who have reached goal weight and want to stay on MJ long term to maintain their weight. It would be great if they do, but can’t see how it would be viable as a business if they give away free pens for maintenance patients as they’d be out of pocket.

PP didn’t say they prescribed the pens for free. Just that they don’t charge a monthly fee for the maintenance plan like Oushk do. Big difference! I think all our dreams would come true if they prescribed for free once you met your goal weight 🤣

Sorry I didn't mean they prescribe the pens free of charge that would be crazy 😂 I mean Oushk charge £15 a month even if you don't need to order a pen, which the other maintenance - friendly pharmacies don't do.

Oushk only charge 15 a month on the flexi plan, this is to cut off the medication completely and to stay on the books a year. If you gain weight in that time and want to order a pen, then you can order and pay for that.
You do not pay 15 a month on their other two plans taper and conti as you are still ordering pens at a discount of 15% off standard price and free delivery.

endzone · 16/06/2025 21:25

Oushk doesn’t charge £15 of you are using MJ in maintenance

Yep, that's exactly what I meant, they charge you £15 a month for not being on mounjaro.

Yes, I was clarifying what you said for all those out there who didn't realise they did more than that one plan of 15 a month.

Rainbowchicken · 16/06/2025 21:46

I know it doesn't really make sense, you have to pay for the consultation as well and the pens are more expensive 🤔

WeAllHaveWings · 16/06/2025 21:50

Oushk charge £15/month if trying to maintain without Mounjaro and not ordering so you can “stay on their books” which is ridiculous, they are cashing in on patients fear of being left without medication if they fail. Their other plans are ok.

Other pharmacies will now let you join them for maintenance even after a break as long as you have a previous prescribing history. Monj.co.uk has a section on this.

Histoscientist · 16/06/2025 21:55

Rainbowchicken · 16/06/2025 21:46

They're not expensive with the codes you get after your maintenance appointment. Its 15% off and free delivery for however long you stay on it. I'm on 15mg and there aren't many that do it so cheap as Oushk after the discount works out less than 150 a month.
I have used 4 prescribers on my journey and staying with Oushk as their founder is an obesity expert so hoping to get a good maintenance plan to set me up and stop me regaining after spending so much time and money on it. They also prescribe at lower bmis. In the last few months I have compared prices on monj but no-one else comes close and even more importantly I can choose my delivery day which as a full time nhs worker, is priceless.
If you can recommend a better deal I'll happily look into it.

I'm glad more and more people are seeing it now.

I can get why people went with oushk months ago but there's more options now.

The people who made the decision to move to oushk months ago think oushk are still the best choice, but I really think oushk are at capacity now and need to grow their business. I think Hira is trying to do far too much.

No disrespect to oushk, we just need as many pharmacies offering maintenance as possible to deal with all these maintenance customers so I'm going to shout out about any pharmacy that say they're willing to support maintenance.

It's become like rival football fans arguing about the best team but everyone can support whatever team they want. I wouldn't have mentioned anything if you hadn't said it first, because to be honest I'm tired of all the abuse I've had from oushkers.

Same, I've been with them since April, my verification call is on Saturday

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 16/06/2025 21:58

Ah thanks @Rainbowchicken and everyone for your replies! Gosh I think I really need to read up more on maintenance plans reading these replies. I’m so far off maintenance so haven’t given it loads of thought but wanted to register with a provider that offered long term maintenance dosing (after reaching target). When I joined Oushk they seemed to offer the maintenance pens at reduced cost, the 15% discount that @Histoscientist mentioned.

So are there better deals out there PP are aware of? Ie more than 15% discount for maintenance dosing pens?

Sorry if this has already been answered, has been a long day and brain is tired! 😂

Arg this is making me think I’ve dropped a clanger swapping to Oushk!

So there are better deals out there for maintenance pens now??

(I’m not loyal to Oushk, swapped between several prescribers and at the time of swapping was a good deal with Oushk as their prices came right down and they offered the maintenance plan (ongoing MJ pens if you wanted this option)

Well my 10mg pen from Live Well was £142 with delivery so about the same I guess after the discount? A tiny bit cheaper than Oushk. Each to their own if it works for you, but no way am I paying £15 a month when I'm not even getting anything, especially now that there are great alternatives.

Have a look at monj.co.uk and pharmacy websites, others support maintenance but I couldn't see any discounts specifically for maintenance plans like what Oushk do and I checked several maintenance sections on websites too only 2 weeks ago. Can someone please let me know if there are any out there?

I checked the Live Well website but didn't see any discounts for maintenance offered. Did you enquire about it? Yeh oushk works out at 147 but thats for 15mg which is way more expensive than 10mg and I can select my delivery date which is super important for me as a full time worker, it's never missed the day I selected since January with oushk.

Mumconnect · 16/06/2025 22:12

@KeepCalmandGiveItaGo honestly I've done so much research into this. Cheapest is simple online pharmacy because they price match to discount codes. However their prescribers are all independent of each other so they give you a different answer depending on who you talk to. They told me you can't stop and restart with a healthy BMI.

Swift Dr are cheap because they also price match but not to discount codes and not on 12.5 and 15. I don't agree with the use of affiliates on prescription only medicine and both oushk and swift use affiliates.

Pharmulous are excellent. They're run by a GP who's on mounjaro herself. You get what you pay for though so they're not cheap, but they're worth the price.

@Histoscientist I'm ex NHS, I left to write code because I couldn't take the night shifts with a baby at home. I was in the labs too. Livewell will let you choose your delivery day. I've been really trying to get it through to people that they're a good maintenance choice. Honestly I've looked into this so much because I know I need it long term. I have no horse in the race but it's frustrating when you see people struggling to get a maintenance call at oushk but with Livewell it can all be sorted in a day.

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 16/06/2025 22:12

@Rainbowchicken can I ask does Live Well offer maintenance pens do you know? Hoping there are other prescribers who might do it for less than the 15% discount Oushk do. It did strike me as not a great discount for long term use really 😬 hoping competition might bring the maintenance cost down , that would be great!
Yes totally agree paying £15 per month to stay on the books is pants 😕
