I have been using Medexpress for a few Months now. As I am nearing bmi of 30 I feel that I should move over to somewhere that can help me with maintenance once I’ve reached my goal weight. I signed up to Oushk the other day, but they have said that they do not have a new initial consultations till end of July. They did have an option to pay £5 for a maintenance appointment. Is this what I want as I am already on my journey? I still have about a 1.5st to go before I reach my goal weight.

I'm way off maintenance but the £15 a month is only to stay on books if you're going it alone with no medication. The other 2 plans aren't that cost but have 15% off and free delivery either your current pen strength or to taper off.

So probably works out cheaper if you're on the higher strengths.

Have a look at monj.co.uk and pharmacy websites, others support maintenance but I couldn't see any discounts specifically for maintenance plans like what Oushk do and I checked several maintenance sections on websites too only 2 weeks ago. Can someone please let me know if there are any out there?

Thanks @Histoscientist yeah I checked monj.co.uk when I swapped to Oushk a couple of months ago, the price was good at that point and I figured it could be a good option as they offered the maintenance dosing.
Happy to swap if there’s a better deal though, would be great to bring the costs down

Mumconnect · 16/06/2025 22:27

@Histoscientist @KeepCalmandGiveItaGo can always email and try to convince them to add a maintenance code? I think a lot of people would benefit from healthy competition between the pharmacies.

FlamingoFloss · 16/06/2025 22:30

Histoscientist · 16/06/2025 21:55

They're not expensive with the codes you get after your maintenance appointment. Its 15% off and free delivery for however long you stay on it. I'm on 15mg and there aren't many that do it so cheap as Oushk after the discount works out less than 150 a month.
I have used 4 prescribers on my journey and staying with Oushk as their founder is an obesity expert so hoping to get a good maintenance plan to set me up and stop me regaining after spending so much time and money on it. They also prescribe at lower bmis. In the last few months I have compared prices on monj but no-one else comes close and even more importantly I can choose my delivery day which as a full time nhs worker, is priceless.
If you can recommend a better deal I'll happily look into it.

I’m with Oushk and have so far ordered 2 pens with the 15% off codes
kn the maintenance dose. Does every pen come with a discount ? How do you get further codes pls?

BatFaceChops · 16/06/2025 22:31

Are the livewell pharmacy bots back again? I can spot you a mile off. And I report all your posts

stop it.

BatFaceChops · 16/06/2025 22:34

I’m on maintenance with Oushk and have been for months. I dislike the whole Facebook group thing but I order a pen and they deliver it. I categorically do not pay to stay on their books

and whenever I see Livewell being pushed I just KNOW to do a hard avoid. You move heard about ‘Oushk fan girls’ … they’ve got nothing on the livewell ones who use every single post they can to spam this board

Mumconnect · 16/06/2025 22:35

And the oushkers are here..

@KeepCalmandGiveItaGo honestly I've done so much research into this. Cheapest is simple online pharmacy because they price match to discount codes. However their prescribers are all independent of each other so they give you a different answer depending on who you talk to. They told me you can't stop and restart with a healthy BMI.

Swift Dr are cheap because they also price match but not to discount codes and not on 12.5 and 15. I don't agree with the use of affiliates on prescription only medicine and both oushk and swift use affiliates.

Pharmulous are excellent. They're run by a GP who's on mounjaro herself. You get what you pay for though so they're not cheap, but they're worth the price.

@Histoscientist I'm ex NHS, I left to write code because I couldn't take the night shifts with a baby at home. I was in the labs too. Livewell will let you choose your delivery day. I've been really trying to get it through to people that they're a good maintenance choice. Honestly I've looked into this so much because I know I need it long term. I have no horse in the race but it's frustrating when you see people struggling to get a maintenance call at oushk but with Livewell it can all be sorted in a day.

Thanks for this! 👍

Ah shame Pharmulous are expensive, they sound good. Do you know if they offer discount for maintenance dose pens?

Can I ask how much you pay for maintenance pens with Live Well? Just trying to compare with Oushk (ie the 15% and free delivery) thanks x

Hey @Mumconnect I’m not an ‘oushker.’ Not a fan.

im also not someone who’s been repeatedly banned / deleted for spamming …

Honestly just ring them or email them and have a chat. See what they say. I'm tired of getting attacked by people like BatFaceChops.

I've rang all the maintenance pharmacies at this point. I've been on the phone to the monj guy for hours.

I write code for a living but I enjoy looking into all this, but I'm just tired of the abuse now.

I wish it wasn’t so complicated trying to figure which blooming private provider to go with! 😭 Wish we could just go through our own ruddy GP’s and pay the NHS the cost of our pens instead all these private pharmacies, of which there seems to be a million and growing..! 🤯🙈 (*sobs) sorry, going to go lie down now..

BatFaceChops · 16/06/2025 22:46

its not abuse @Mumconnect - show me where I’ve abused you. it’s just calling you out when you spam boards.

If I was banned I wouldn't be here would I?

And yes you keep reporting me but I don't get what's so wrong about telling people about different pharmacies? Mumsnet have to keep activating my account again and it's annoying as hell.

Anyway I'm out, it's not worth the argument. People can do their own research because I'm tired of the attacks.

BatFaceChops · 16/06/2025 22:47

@KeepCalmandGiveItaGoi was with med express for ages and always found them good. I only switched to Oushk as Medexpress didn’t support maintenance under a bmi of 23 which I was.

both have been absolutely fine for me in terms of dispatching and ordering etc so just give it a go and see how you get on

That’s great you’ve done loads of research. Sorry you’re getting abuse :( I really wish this whole thing could be more straightforward and go through our own dr’s but we just pay cost so it doesn’t come out of nhs budget. It seems like such a bun fight for discounts and who does what plan out there and what’s now changed, and who’s expensive that used to be cheap, will they replace a pen that arrives warm or refuse etc 😞

Yes and adding affiliate marketing into that really doesn't help. I really hate all the stuff on tiktok because it makes people think they can lose a stone a month and then live happily ever after, when in reality it's much more complicated than that and I think a lot of people will need maintenance.

There's a patent expiring on oral semaglutide next year and I think that would be a good maintenance option but prob not the best for the actual weight loss part. There's also a tablet coming out orforglipron which could work in maintenance. I prefer weekly injections though.

Company Drug Approval Timeline

Eli Lilly Orforglipron Approval expected 2026

Novo Nordisk Oral Semaglutide Filing likely late 2025–2026

Pfizer Danuglipron Timeline delayed due to safety reviews

Sweetspinach · 17/06/2025 07:24

Can I ask a probably stupid question? When people refer to maintenance doses, or maintenance pens..what do you actually mean? Are you still injecting every week? Just a smaller dose? Or injecting less often? I'm nearing target and really can't afford to keep buying a pen every month. But the thought of going backwards really frightens me. I don't know what my options are, or even if I have any..

Have a look at r/mounjaromaintenanceuk on Reddit.

It's mounjaro you take when you reach your goal weight to prevent gaining weight.

Hira has suggested 2.5 or 5mg with one month on and one month off if that's more affordable.

You could also just stay with a cheap pharmacy. I was spending a lot of money in cafes before I started mounjaro and that alone pays for my pens.

Does that mean you can’t stretch to only buying pens every 6 weeks when on maintenance which is what I currently do and is allowed by Oushk.

Yes you still can, you don't have to use all the codes up, you can email for another set whenever you want. I do the same around 5-6 weeks as I ordered early before Xmas when I had just opened a pen so always have plenty weeks left. I have my maintenance appt today, started in October so it's exciting to get to this stage, bmi 25.5.
