I haven't needed any yet as Asda puts a couple of extra in with each pen, presumably in case they malfunction. I noticed the option of buying a pack (of 100?!) on the Asda order form though - it's a proper pharmacy so they must be sterile ones.

I mean the syringes and needles people are using to get the remaining liquid out. They are different to the others we get when we buy mounjaro.

I ordered some on Amazon. Just assumed they’re sterile 😳

They are not sterile, I just checked. It is in the description. 😒

I was hoping to force the pen past its cut-off point, and then use it as normal, but not sure if this is possible still - have read different things.

SomethingAboutYou · 20/06/2025 13:33

I'm not going to opt for the golden dose, I don't trust the safety of the needles to be sterile. I'm also the type to really kick myself if anything went wrong because I'd tried to do something advised against (which the golden dose is because of the risk implementations) so it's not worth it for me mentally either!

Did my 4th dose this morning, have aquired a sterile insulin needle for the golden dose next week. Jabbed at 8am and very quickly felt absolutely exhausted and fell asleep on the couch for two hours! Suppression seems to be ok but I'm definitely going up to 5mg after golden dose as I'm finding it wearing off around day 4 at the moment so hoping it will last a bit longer on 5mg

Have also input all my daily weights into an app called libra (can't get happy scale for Android just ios) and it's made a very satisfying downwards pointing graph!

This is just since starting mounjaro, so finishing week three going into week four now. I might just gaze at it all day!

@FoxRedPuppy I'm having the right amount of water, just not necessarily in the right order 😁

Booklover2021 · 20/06/2025 07:25

You can use a spray oil like fry light x

You cant use that in air fryers , does something to them and ruins them

Catladyof7 · 20/06/2025 13:58

FoxRedPuppy · 20/06/2025 07:32

I olive oil to make chips in air fryer. I toss them in it first before putting them in.

I injected in my stomach, but was so worried I’d got it wrong as I felt nothing! I’m going to try my thigh next time as my stomach is so soft I had to push for ages for the count of 5 because I could feel any resistance 😂.

weighed myself 🥁..
W1D4
SW 88kg
CW 85.7kg

2.3kg lost!

I’ve started some movicol and wondering if I’m getting constipated. I have issue that way anyway, due to medication, so thought I’d start.

I have ulcerative colitis ,so hoping i dont get diarrhoea !

Catladyof7 · 20/06/2025 14:08

My pen has arrived , i
even in this heat it didnt feel particularly warm, so went straight in the fridge till Sunday or Monday .
Then i pluck up courage to start .
Seems silly i am worried about not having my sweet fix , but i desperately need to lose weight.
I need to lose around 3-3 and a half stone .
Sorry dont work in Kgs …too old 🤣🤣

SomethingAboutYou · 20/06/2025 14:43

@SusanSHelit that graph looks magnificent! Might go look at Libra now. I also love the look of the bmi barometer!

@Catladyof7 you will still be able to have your sweet fix, just perhaps a bit less, or less often. I never used kgs before but find it quite nice as my brain doesn't associate any feeling towards the numbers so it's less disheartening! Eg only 7kgs until my mini goal, but it's 1stone 1.5lbs which seems much more 😂

@Looby99thanks will try tgat looks ideal

AnnTillyMint · 20/06/2025 16:50

First weigh in today on MJ (end of week 1) and 5lbs off!! 16st 9lb to 16st 4lb. Very pleased! All down to feeling less hungry between meals (I’m usually sooo hungry all the time) but also eating very healthily.

So far no obvious side effects. Have not had full suppression by any means, still am getting hunger pangs and am eating sizeable meals, none of this ‘I was full after 2 bites’ stuff. It’s more subtle than that, but it’s different to normal.

Let’s see how this next week goes, one step at a time.

Roxietrees · 20/06/2025 17:23

Can anyone tell me what the golden dose means? Keep seeing it mentioned and assume it’s a bit of the liquid that’s leftover? How does it work?

FlamboyantDino · 20/06/2025 17:47

Just had my first dose, so hoping to join you all.

I've ballooned in weight the last couple of years after a significant bereavement and finally admitted I need a little bit of help, so bit the bullet!

Ideally I’d like to lose around 6-7 stone, reverse my pre diabetes, and not have (albeit mild) sleep apnoea.

Wanting to get back to regular exercise too, it’s been so difficult when I’m this heavy.

I want to wear my favourite clothes, and not be a fat sweaty mess when the temperature hits double figures 😂

Gingercar · 20/06/2025 17:50

I am one month in today and the scales just hit the 1stone loss.

Thornrose · 20/06/2025 18:13

Crossingeverything · 20/06/2025 09:24

@Thornrose I have a long commute too and dreading gastro side effects kicking in . Only on wk1d2 and felt ok so far but not looking forward to Monday when I have to travel

@Crossingeverything I haven't had a repeat of this so I really think it was a coincidence 🤞🏻

I'm jabbing again tomorrow, starting week 2 so will let you know if it happens again.

latetothepartyweightlossinjections · 20/06/2025 18:22

@FlamboyantDino I could have written your post! I was running 10K race pre-covid and before I lost my dear mum. Now I couldn't run for a bus! Hoping to change that!

MummySharkDoodoododoo · 20/06/2025 19:08

Just done my 4th jab! The last one of 2.5mg.

Am I right in thinking if I put a new needle in, it won't let me inject the last bit? There still looks like almost a full dose left! But bit scared to order needles and syringe online! I'm needle phobic as it is and had a full on panic attack injecting the first jab, but now know how easy the pen is and I barely feel it.

I Also realised as I'm typing this that I forgot to prime it this time! Will it matter?! I usually do prime it.

What is the golden dose please? What does it mean?

im 2 weeks in (injection number 3 tomorrow) im feeling a bit disheartened because I’ve not yet noticed any difference. I’ve lost 3lb but I’ve been consciously making better choices. I still feel hungry all the time.

TouchOfSilverShampoo · 20/06/2025 19:25

@GingercarThats amazing!!! Well done. How are you feeling in yourself?

Three pounds in two weeks is a good, sensible weight loss. Remember that you are on a starter dose too.

Thank you, I feel good. I haven’t had much in the way of suppression. I can happily wait for a meal, I don’t get hangry like I might have, but when I eat I can eat a lot. I’ve not had any side effects at all. I’ve eaten really well, not counted calories at all, just cut sugar and processed food. I’ve eaten so much fruit and veg, and lots of Greek yogurt (full fat) and added loads of seeds to everything. I’ve REALLY enjoyed what I’m eating. But also aware that I have a very long way to go and it’s slowed down after a big ish start. I will be here a while!
