@BettyandtheVets looking fabulous!

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/06/2025 09:24

WWJ and sts. So this is good. I’m balancing out ok. Slowly increasing calories -I don’t dare eat 500c extra a day every day but I am still def counting calories

OP posts:
BettyandtheVets · 27/06/2025 09:40

Thanks everyone 😊

@Blondeshavemorefun you are right, I am very proud of the 3st loss and if I don’t lose anymore weight again I’d be sort of happy to stick where I am. I’m in medium, size 14 at the minute so it wouldn’t be the end of the world. Will still try for more though.

I expect taking MJ indefinitely because I just feel so much better on it. Me and DH were working out income vs expenditure for when we retire (a few years off yet) and when DH looked at outgoings, he says ‘we’ve forgotten the MJ’ as he’s so very aware of how much better I am on it. I saw a news article that the patent or whatever the term is, on Ozempic runs out in a couple of years and the guy reckoned the cost will reduce right down to £10. I can’t see that low myself, but if MJ came down to anywhere near that when theirs runs out I’ll be happy!

@FurForksSake i’m taking your advice and upping my calories a bit. I’ll report back 🫡

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/06/2025 11:33

Oh bless your dh @BettyandtheVets

at times my knees and hips and ankle do feel better and surely having 6S+ off helps but in the early months mj def helped the pain so in some ways I would love to stay on low dose forever if a low dose kept weight off and pain free

but it’s the cost

again if in 2/3yrs it came down and could get even £50 a month be worth it. I pay that for my contacts

owlyboo · 27/06/2025 11:52

Weigh day for me and another maintain. So been maintaining well now for quite a while so I’m pleased with that. Next step will be stopping MJ altogether. On my second week of 2.5 and probably be stopping altogether in the next 2-4 weeks depending on how many doses I have left!

well done on maintaining @Blondeshavemorefun

morbidcuriosity · 27/06/2025 12:16

Well done @owlyboo and @Blondeshavemorefun for sts.. thats fab in maintenence.. I hope when I finally reach my goal I can maintain..

Azuresky68 · 27/06/2025 12:27

@Blondeshavemorefun and @owlyboo congrats on maintaining and thanks for sticking with the thread now you are both at goal. I am enjoying my holiday guilt free with the knowledge that MJ will help me get back to goal as I expect to gain over 3 weeks. All the best to everyone x

FurForksSake · 27/06/2025 12:31

I’ve had my first needle fail, nothing happened when I primed, I took the needle off and it was completely bent over inside! Luckily I have spares but not had this before!

Ref the cheaper alternative to Mounjaro - generic versions of drugs are rarely as effective as the original version even though they do still work. I still always pay for the original of any drug even though it can be much cheaper. In fact it’s only 2 days ago that I few to Dubai to pick up a drug my son uses and is no longer available in the original form where we live because each tablet costs 30 pounds and the generic version is about 10 pounds each so the government now prescribes that. Without the original version of the drug which he has only when needed in an emergency he’s very hard days become extremely hard days.

And my mum used to make me laugh, she was on lasix tablets to make her wee as she had a heart condition and when she was prescribed the original drug she’d be able to be get the 9.15 bus to town on a Wednesday but when her GP changed her prescription to a generic version she had to start getting the 10.15 bus. Her Dr would say it’s the same medication and she’d say no it’s bloody well not.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/06/2025 13:46

Yes I should say maintain. Not sts. As not trying to lose weight

well done @owlyboo. 10 seems ok. I don’t know whether to try 7.5 next week which will be counting clicks

40 is 6.66666 48 8 so guessing around 44 would be 7.5 roughly

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 27/06/2025 13:49

Thanks @Azuresky68 and @morbidcuriosity. I know it’s very early days /weeks but need to keep control

sure I will gain on holiday but if I do I will get it off

rather then gaining weight and then gaining even more on top

do you think 2.5 does anything @owlyboo

and will you then pay the £15 a month so can get back on it if need to

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 27/06/2025 13:55

I think we have to stick to it @Azuresky68 to support those who still need it as they were supporting us while we were losing and also for us to get support

have a fab holiday and that’s my view as well

@FurForksSake it happens. That’s why we prime - I seem to have tons of needles / think as Ousch send 6 and I use 4 as 5th is syringe out

poppym12 · 27/06/2025 14:03

Hellooooo. First time on the new thread. Congratulations to those at goal/maintaining and solidarity to those of us who keep plodding on.

I'm still counting calories and have just finished a 15mg pen. BMI still loitering around 26 so I guess I've still got a way to go. Changes in the scales are minimal these days but I'll be honest, I'm bored with it now. I can't remember the last time I truly ate something and enjoyed it, apart from a bag of Skittles I ate last weekend.

Thinking about what to eat, preparing it and actually eating it..... can't be bothered. I'm still eating around 1200 calories per day when averaged out over a week but the weight stays the same and I'm not going to try to cut lower as I've been losing hair for years so don't want to lose even more.

I've got another 15 pen to start next week then I think I might start moving down. I know below BMI 25 is the goal but I don't think I'll get much smaller than this. I'm now at the size I was for most of my life (post children) and I'm ok with that.

I thought I'd be rushing to buy new clothes but I don't need any. I bought a couple of bits a few weeks ago and rummaging through cases that have been packed away for a while has unearthed some old favourites that fit now.

owlyboo · 27/06/2025 14:19

@Blondeshavemorefunive had to count clicks on most as I’ve been coming down and found it easy enough. I’ve attached the table I’ve used. Saves having to work it out every time!

no idea if 2.5 is doing anything… I have a much smaller appetite than pre MJ and still don’t fancy much different foods but who knows if that’s the MJ or my body and appetite changing after being on a weight loss journey for so many months! Only time will tell I suppose!

No I’m not paying the £15 a month. Personally I don’t want to be on MJ long term and I’ve been at target for a good few months now and gone down the strengths bit by bit so once my pen is done then that’s it. Absolutely nothing against those that want to stay on it indefinitely I just don’t want the financial costs as well as worrying about long term effects (even though I don’t think there are any and it’s probably all scare mongering from the newspapers!)

I put on 4lbs when I returned from my girls holiday a few weeks ago and by the next day it was gone! Definitely have to have fun whilst you’re there!

@poppym12if you’re happy with how you look and feel then I don’t think 1 point on the bmi scale really matters! You’ve done brilliantly!

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/06/2025 16:39

@poppym12 you are almost at top end of healthy bmi so if happy then stop

I’m at the top end with 24. I would look awful at 19/22

sorry you aren’t enjoying food

@owlyboo yes I have a chart that is book marked with doses

OP posts:
Weepixie · 27/06/2025 17:38

@poppym12 @owlyboo

I was just saying to my daughter today that, “I’m bored with it now and want to get on to the next stage in life.” Not that being on Mounjaro has stopped me doing anything in real terms but it has taken up a very big space in my head - not that I can explain what I’m meaning.

Im 1.5kg away from my target which is still in the overweight category for my height by about a stone, but it was never my intention to get to my BMI as I don’t believe in the thinking behind it and even now I’m happy with my weight and how I’m looking. But more importantly I’m over the moon about my health and my blood test results that show I’ve absolutely smashed by cholesterol levels, my blood sugar, and last but not least that I’ll probably be off my remaining 5mg of BP medication come August.

I’ll get what I hope is my last pen at the end of July then once the Mounjaro is well out of my system I’m either going to do Zoe for at least 4 months, I’m not sure i can do it where I live, or I’ll wear a blood sugar monitor till the end of the year to see what happens with my blood sugar day to day and how it reacts to certain foods. I fully expect it to be a possible issue for the rest of my life even as a healthy person due to genetics so I’ve decided that I’ll live as someone ‘who has to watch what she eats very carefully due to a problem with her blood sugar’. I’ve now been pre-diabetic twice in my life and I think once that propensity for it’s there, it’s always there just waiting to jump out at a person and shout boo.

I’ve loved what being on Mounjaro has brought to my life but I’ve no plans to be on it any longer than I already have been. It may be something I regret, who knows, but I’ve even done so much work on myself mentally and emotionally over the last few years that I don’t feel any fear about a future without Mounjaro. I think it’s probably safe to say Mounjaro was the end of my journey, not the start.

owlyboo · 27/06/2025 17:54

Realised I didn’t post the chart… I’ll add it now in case it’s helpful to anyone as it’s the simplest one I found

@Weepixie’the end of my journey not the start’ I love that!

@Weepixietbats great your health has improved so much

what’s a Zoe ?

OP posts:
20bloodypounds · 27/06/2025 21:10

@Weepixie a friend of mine has Libre 2 monitor, which monitors her blood sugar. She says her eating has changed drastically as a consequence of seeing the direct result of different foods and drinks. Interestingly for her diet coke was terrible for blood sugar spike, even though it contains no actual sugar, and was worse than regular coke.

poppym12 · 27/06/2025 21:32

Sounds like we're at a very similar stage @Weepixie . I'm glad you've experienced such improvements in your health. I've no idea about any of my stats as I haven't had a blood test for a couple of years (need to speak to my GP about that as one of my medications can cause other things to go wonky so i should have certain tests every 6 months).

Good morning all! Well I’ve had a roller coaster of a week. This time last week I moved into my own house, leaving my DH of 22 years. I’m not going into the reasons, but it was my choice and I’m a lot happier now. A big shout out to our @Blondeshavemorefun who has supported me massively over the past few weeks. She is a beautiful person and we’re very fortunate to have her!

I have forgotten to do my injection this week, so will do so this morning. Unfortunately this will be my last pen as I just can’t afford any more. Thank you @owlyboofor that chart - it’s going to be very useful as I need to go down the doses.

I’ve still got another stone to loose, so whether I manage that or not I don’t know. Hopefully by shopping and cooking for myself will help, plus I’m going to try to keep moving as much as I can too.

It’s wonderful to see everyone’s pictures. I’m with @BettyandtheVetsin that I’m coming in last on this race, but that’s ok. Hopefully one day I’ll get into my size 12 black lace dress, which is my ultimate aim.

Weepixie · 28/06/2025 09:20

@WitchDancer wishing you all the very best and a life time of happiness going forward. ❤️

Weepixie · 28/06/2025 09:28

@Blondeshavemorefun - yes but Ive read up on it more and decided it’s not for me. Not that it’s available where I live anyway but I could have arranged returning the samples they need. I’d been reading a book by Tim Spector and liked what he said about his experience of it but what he didn’t mention was the calorie counting and whole load of other stuff that’s the last thing I want to bother with going forward. I think I’ll just wear a continuous blood sugar monitor for a few months instead.

wohmum · 28/06/2025 09:30

Morning all - checking in on this latest thread to report I'm now officially at my goal of 9 st 7 !! I've got a maintenance call booked for a few weeks time, so I'll continue on current pen (10) until then) .

I could probably afford to go down a few more lb as this has my BMI at 23.6, but I'm quite happy here. Comfortably in size 12 jeans and suspect I'd start to look a big gaunt in my face if I went much lower - not to mention the saggy skin - I'm 60 so although its been a slow journey there is still a lot of sag!. Looks fine when I've got clothes on though :)
I've not really been counting cals for a good few months, but a bit like @owlyboo and @poppym12 I'm not that fussed about food recently.. I do eat 2 - 3 meals a day, and snacks have started to increase a bit (need to keep an eye on that!) but I'm still losing .

Congratulations to all of those at goal and maintaining - especially @Blondeshavemorefun who has been such an inspiration and a cheerleader for us on this chat .. its's great that so many are still here after 11 months, still sharing stories and tips as we move into the next phase . I've loved seeing everyone's pictures - such a transformation for so many of us.

For those still plodding on - keep at it ... if thats what you want to do .. but even if you are not at your original goal .. just think of the health benefits so far..
This has been a fabulous supportive community and has made such a difference - even though i don't post much!

I'll be following the next stage with interest!
