Oh, and an NSV for today too - went to Uniqlo for some bits. Last year was busting out of their XL; today, bought a top on sale in L without trying it on, got it home and it's a bit too baggy!

Birthday tomorrow and coming up to my 1-year MJ anniversary on Aug 4th; what a difference a year makes, hey. Well done to all of us!

(and @PoemsForTea wondering if we were at the same Glasto? Fully flooded, remember being wrapped in binbags and watching Nick Cave!)

Whoop. Should have tried a M

Glad to see you're all still here. Weight loss seems to be at a standstill for me, just 100g here and there. Bit disappointed as I was hoping to lose another 4kg (BMI stil 25.9).

However, all of my clothes seem to fit (some of the old ones are a bit baggy) and on the odd occasion I venture out of the house, I'm not hiding away in baggy shirts.

I'm still on 15mg. Bonus this weekend then a new pen in the fridge. I was hoping to start moving down by now but I don't think that's wise yet as I'd like to carry on losing (no idea how though as I'm still sticking to 1200 cals per day averaged over a week).

You're all looking fabulous in the pics you've posted

I’ve got my blood tests back, my non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is basically reversed. I’ve reduced it by 30% and it’s now just above normal.

my ferritin is normal, which is odd after the at home test said it wasn’t. But my b12 is a bit low and folate a bit high. I need to look at my b-complex to see if that might be related to it.

nothing in there that explains why I am getting so dizzy when I stand up. I’ve always had it but it’s got a lot worse and I’ve felt close to passing out a few times.

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/07/2025 12:51

@poppym12 sorry struggling losing the last few lbs

Well done for keeping going. I’ve definitely found my weight loss has got more lumpy, very little for weeks and then I’ll lose a couple of pounds in a week. I’ve just accepted it now.

sounds like you’ve done brilliantly and you can always keep going for a bit and then review. I’ve been on 12.5 for months and I’m on conti with oushk so will be staying on it. I’m not quite in maintenance but I’m not sure I’m really putting the effort in to lose.

it’s great feeling better in clothes and not hiding!

FurForksSake · 31/07/2025 12:56

NSV - I am wearing dh’s hoodie. It’s a men’s medium or large. It’s baggy. I was gutted last year thinking I’d borrow one and it being tight.

That’s good about bloods

tho wierd still faint

are you eating enough ?

OP posts:
FurForksSake · 31/07/2025 13:25

Yeah, it happens regardless of how much I’m eating. It used to happen when I was bigger. Family members have POTS and I’m wondering if it js that. As I’ve got smaller I assume my blood pressure has come down making the symptoms more obvious.

The dizziness when standing up could be postural
hypotension. I was diagnosed with it 3 months ago and it was caused by losing so much weight my BP went back to normal but because I was still using my very small dose of BP medication my blood pressure was going very low. Anyway, one week after coming off my BP medicine it hasn’t happened since.

https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/9385-low-blood-pressure-orthostatic-hypotension

Hypoglycaemia can also cause it.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hypoglycemia/symptoms-causes/syc-20373685

Also, your ferritin - what was the level of you don’t mind saying?

Orthostatic Hypotension (Postural Hypotension)

Orthostatic hypotension causes a sudden drop in blood pressure when you stand up. You may feel dizzy or faint.

FurForksSake · 31/07/2025 13:46

Ferritin 119 which is really ok? I copied them all in to ChatGPT for a second opinion 😆

Azuresky68 · 31/07/2025 19:01

@poppym12 great to here from you! Wish I had gone up to 12.5 to lose the last bit. Wasted my time on 10 for too long.!

Azuresky68 · 31/07/2025 19:03

@FurForksSake great to hear the good news about baggy clothes! I hope you find out the cause of dizzy spells 💐🤞💐

Azuresky68 · 31/07/2025 19:10

@PoemsForTea well done and nice to see a picture of you too. Went to a warm and sunny Glasto in 2019..I got in for free as I was working for my friend...only 4 hours a day doing workshops making soap and beauty products. I had lovely soft hands too 😅😅😅 At age 69 I have decided to quit the camping life. A lot of friends and my sister have camper vans but I can't afford one!

owlyboo · 31/07/2025 19:13

Eeekk got my tattoo tomorrow! I’ve had tattoos before but it’s a whole day session and I’m now starting to get nervous! Wish me luck and pain free thoughts!!!

FurForksSake · 31/07/2025 19:47

tattoo sounds very exciting! Did you tell us already what you are getting? My memory is crap!!

I am having a hungry day! Not awful, but definitely a bit of unnecessary cupboard investigating happening. Jab day is tomorrow, thank goodness! Part of me is considering pushing to Saturday just to force myself into dealing with hunger and cravings more… not this week but maybe in the next few weeks I will do that.

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/07/2025 20:46

What tat are you having @owlyboo

jab a day early @FurForksSake

No I don’t think I’ve mentioned it @FurForksSake

@Blondeshavemorefun I’m having a large Mandela design with flowers on my shoulder. Picked flowers that are named after my mum and dad and the children’s rose to represent the kids.

exciting but scared as it goes on to a little of my collar bone (the part nearest your shoulder and that’s very bony now so guessing it’ll be a bit ouchy there!!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/07/2025 22:28

Sounds lovely

I think you said you said you have done tattoos anyway

WW day. Down to 8 st 9.5 pounds so it's a 2 pound loss this week and 2.5 to get back to where I was at target. Just shows if I stick to calories I can do it. I was still hungry on 12.5 though.
Had a busy week so not had time to see my other half since Monday. He said he wanted take me out for a meal when I see him tomorrow, which was really nice so I dont want to say no. Guess I will have to try and reframe my attitude and not see going out for a meal as an excuse to go off the rails.

On Monday I am out at a friend's for a get together and nibbles.
Got friends staying with me next week for 5 days. Again this is not an excuse to have 5 girlie days of drinking and eating! One of then doesn't drink alcohol and the other friend has been on the MJ journey with me since last August so no excuse
But all these events are so linked to treats and an excuse to eat and drink which is why I was obese this time last year!
But I am not obese anymore so with MJ I can stay slim for the first time in my life.
Good luck to everyone and happy weekend 😊

Wow 1st August, nearly a whole year of losing weight.. I've still got weeks to go yet, started on 21st August so still time to lose a bit more for my year update..

To date I'm still 99lb down, maintaining but would be nice to get to over 100, I'm pretty sure I can drop a few more in 3 weeks..
Tattoo sounds good, I'm getting more done soon too, I have 4 already but planning a few more..

morbidcuriosity · 01/08/2025 10:20

Just read the August 25 starter thread, it's funny reading the same sort of questions and problems we all had back then, I know I was so confused about the bonus dose and how and when to take it, think I made a couple threads asking about it and people were so helpful..
Glad to see couple of us girls adding a post for them, that was nice .. some of the questions seem so simple to answer now but when your first starting it's a minefield..

I'm happy how supportive this thread has been for me.. thank you all.

FurForksSake · 01/08/2025 10:46

Happy birthday to us!

i didn’t weigh this morning, but I have jabbed.

It’s interesting thinking about occasions and meals out, as it is so easy for them to be “all out”. We haven’t eaten out in months; but we do have the odd takeaway and I try to build it into my calories for the day or if not the week. I really like a kebab, but turns out I don’t miss the bread and chips and love the salad and meat. Win! I do try and look at the menu first and decide what is worth the calories to me, often that’s having a really good salad and a pudding. However, there will be times that it’s a blowout 3000 calories in one meal. But that should be once or twice a year.

I always remember slimming world pushing out the message that Christmas dinner is one meal on one day and not 90 meals of indulgence in a month. Keeping this normal before and after are the main thing and enjoying the dinner and the time with friends for the social and interactive side.

husband took the kids to the cinema yesterday, he took them to Asda first for snacks, they brought a lot of it home and didn’t need lunch 😆 I was most disappointed they ate their popcorn though!

What do you like about going out for a meal? The anticipation, the dressing up and putting on make up. The feeling of being treated and not having to plan/shop/cook. The theatre of a restaurant with people tending to your needs. The menu, the choices. Delicious food (of course). The conversation during the meal, the shared laughter. The feeling of being satisfied at the end of the meal - satisfied with food and satistfied with the experience.

How much of that is to do with calories you consumed? Probably not much. The feeling of being loved, cared for, cooked for...

I wonder if it’s a generational thing with us. We grew up when eating out was perhaps a very rare thing but when we did it was ‘have whatever you want’. And ‘only’ eating out rarely or occasionally didn’t have to be due to money being tight, it was just the way life was. So I can recall eating out quite a bit, every few weeks we’d have a meal out and I can remember having eaten loads of different foreign foods well before my classmates or other family members had, but none of them ate out much anyway because that’s just the way it was. So even though eating out was a regular occurrence for me, it was still a big thing because it was different and we’d be told ‘have whatever you want’. Very much a fill your boots, get stuck in kind of thing, and it’s perhaps why when people go out to eat even these days we go back to how it was as children.

Ive been away with my girls this weekend to a place where the choice of different restaurants is huge, but we stuck to Japanese food for a lot of our meals as we love it and apart from Sushi we don’t get it where we live. It’s very healthy and we were all able to eat really well without any damage whereas if for eg we’d gone to the Irish bar for a meal we’d have been hammered with calories because that’s what bar meals are. For us just having the Japanese food was really exciting so we had the feel good factor from that, and none of us ordered anything to eat alone, we each chose different dishes to share and ended up with about 10 things in the table to choose from - so that covered the childhood ‘have anything you want’.

Apart from the Ramen which was a good sized large bowl, none of the other dishes had more than two mouthfuls of food each in them but it seemed as if we’d had a lot to eat and that we had been out for a meal.

I really do believe playing mind games 🤣 with ourselves has to be a big part of our future if we want to keep the weight off going forward.
