Tbh I hadn't been on here for ages! Life is very busy at the moment. Great to see people at goal, can't believe you are there, you said you would be ages!

I'm not far off healthy bmi now, 25.7 this morning! But I think I want to go lower than originally intended. Not sure how much, yet though.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/06/2025 20:18

NSV I'm 53, menopausal and proper love being invisible. This journey has been nothing about looks and all about health.
However, i would previously live in black, baggy, no shape clothes.
Look at me rocking Red jeans (£3 charity shop !!) just because I can 😆 (still wearing black tops with them 😆)

My local nhs has posted a response to all the people trying to get weightloss drugs prescribed. Apart from the rigid criteria (bmi over 40 and at least four significant health risks), they will only prescribe with:

  • blood tests
  • training by a professional to self inject
  • regular healthy lifestyle support
  • consideration of other weightloss options
  • psychological assessment
  • gp has to agree it's right for the patient
  • regular monitoring by the GP

I'm not one for anecdata but I'm sitting here with my healthy BMI without any of that. The treatment was prescribed by a health profession. I know they have to manage demand and safety, but this really feels like overkill. At BMI 34 I had high cholesterol, sleep apnea, probably high blood pressure, and possibly the start of heart disease, but wouldn't qualify for nhs support. I'd just be put on a waiting list for weight watchers or sent to the patronising lady at the council healthy lifestyle team who's paid to say "eat less, move more, just tell your husband to get the baby to nursery while you exercise at 5am before your 7.15 train." I'm very grateful to have been able to access a private prescription.

Couldn't agree more!

So many on this thread have done so much to improve their health.

And there are threads about maintanance, with all the real life experience (positive and negative).

It is so much more helpful than an uninformed person (paid!) trotting out unhelpful garbage. The NHS must know that that approach has been largely useless for years, why do they keep on doing it?

Weepixie · 25/06/2025 03:02

I was reading about GP’s being able to prescribe to patients and I think the figure I read was that only 200,000 patients the length and breadth of Britain will meet the criteria for having the medication prescribed because the criteria is so so strict. Something like 4 associated health issues as well as being overweight or being diabetic with an extremely high BMI. I’d have to check the latter but my point is - you’d think the powers that be would be falling over themselves for a mass roll out of the drug (even as a one time chance in a lifetime to lose your weight) in order to save the NHS and the benefits system the many, many, many millions of pounds every year that obesity currently costs the NHS.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/06/2025 06:46

As usual I’m def feeling hunger day 6/7 but I was the same on 15 and now 10 so hopefully going ok

not sure what I fancy for breakie but looking forward to it 😂

The one on the left is healthier as the one on the right is full of saturated fats and animal fats as well as processed items and carbs/sugar. The one on the left is what would be considered a Mediterranean style of diet and that’s something we should all be trying to live.

Which one were you told was healthier and did healthier mean calories, and not actually healthier?

Hi @Weepixie thanks for your comnents...you were right! I put this on as a bit of fun and as a discussion point. The one on the left is called the healthy breakfast on the menu. That's the one i had and it was delicious, but honey, granola and banana are full of carbs and sugar and very low in protein. The other one would be OK without the sausage and hash brown in my opinion..it has a half a large fresh tomato and mushrooms, one egg, a slice of bacon, baked beans, toast and butter. This would last me all day on holiday and would probably be nearly all my calorie allowance. Both holiday breakfasts are way bigger than my normal breakfast of an omelette or 2 eggs on toast. Was just interested to see what people thought 😊 Whatever we eat we have all made fantastic progress and are clearly choosing the right foods to suit our weight loss and lifestyle. This morning I am having 2 eggs on 1 piece of toast!

Azuresky68 · 25/06/2025 10:08

@PoemsForTea love the trousers and love the price too!

FurForksSake · 25/06/2025 12:39

I’m 2lbs off an Irish setter. When I started all this I had no idea I would lose 5st and I think by the time I am done it will be closer to 6.

I have, however, just spoken to my department manager and then eaten most of my daily calories. So, still not perfect! Being off work I need to be planning my lunches k think.

FurForksSake · 25/06/2025 22:51

So I thought I’d take a photo of the non-fitting size 8. It’s pulling a touch over my hips, fits my boobs and then we have the bit in the middle 😆😆😆😆😆😆

i might do a weekly wwjd (dress) and see if I make any progress towards it fitting.

20bloodypounds · 25/06/2025 23:02

@FurForksSake tbh that looks like a badly made piece of clothing - who on earth is going to fit into that properly!

FurForksSake · 25/06/2025 23:11

well, one does wonder that! I don’t think my 9st body is particularly weird but the fit is definitely strange!!

perhaps that’s why it was £1.50 on vinted 😆

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/06/2025 06:58

Fabulous @FurForksSake with so close to red setter.

dress be interesting if you will get into it with another 7/14lbs los

Hi everyone. Just saying hi on one of my rare posts. You’re all doing so well, and I know you’ll smash maintenance with ease. Our eating habits have all changed so much haven’t they.

i still feel like the fat girl at the back of the school cross country bringing up the rear 😂 still got quite a few stones to go before I’m anywhere near normal BMI. I’ve hit a huge stall which seems unbreakable at the minute. I got to 3 stone loss on 1 April as I’m a slow loser and have since just lost, and gained, the same 3lb. At least I know I can maintain when I eventually get there!

so it’s back to basics from this week on. Tracking everything I eat, upping the water intake and trying to get in more steps which is difficult because I’m lazy haha.

Huge bravery from me no to post some before and after pics 🫣 hope it’s works as I’m quite IT illiterate.

@BettyandtheVetsthats some fabulous change in your before and after pics!! Well done!!! A stall for a few months is a bummer but at least you’ve maintained! I’m sure the changes you make this week will make a difference 🤞

FurForksSake · 26/06/2025 08:01

@BettyandtheVets Wow! You look great!

i broke my stall by going on holiday and eating more for a week and then getting back to being strict.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/06/2025 06:58

Fabulous @FurForksSake with so close to red setter.

Yes, I’m now intrigued as to when it will fit or whether my rib cage will be too big forever.

morbidcuriosity · 26/06/2025 10:06

I log my weight on a Monday, but I'm a daily weigher.. and this mornings weight so far is looking like another loss come Monday, it bounces around all week but you daily weigh people will know that..

Anyway, I just wanted to post, I've realised I've lost 95lb so far, my goal weight would of been a total of 98lb loss, so I've moved my goal again now to make it 100lb loss..

I don't know why I'm telling you this, I just have no-one really to tell that will understand .. you guys are my weight loss chatter people!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/06/2025 13:39

Oh @BettyandtheVets please don’t feel like that 💐

3st is amazing so be proud of that

the on/off 3lbs what have you been doing ? You said to go back to tracking /water etx so did you lapse from it

and you can def see the change in the pics so we’ll done for being brave - do you see it yourself as as you know I always struggled to see mine

you have a lovely figure and a waist

@morbidcuriosity let’s hope Monday is nice to you - the constant weight for me. If I had a loss but then on weigh day ended up gaining that would really piss me off

Tho @morbidcuriosity that is a huge amount lost - over 6.5st. Well done. Nearly 100lbs. Wow. Can’t imagine that.

this is what our group is for. Be proud

@BettyandtheVets you look gorgeous!

Weepixie · 26/06/2025 16:42

I read the article this morning and have been thinking about it today but unless they publish the medical history of the 10 people who’ve died and publish whether they had pre-existing health problems or not, as well as provide information as to where the drugs were sourced, should the patient have been in the drugs in the first place etc.

Its sheer sensationalism to only say 10 have died and unless there is complete transparency in any medical article I read I take it with a very large pinch of salt.

FurForksSake · 26/06/2025 18:18

I think it’s good they are going to do a study. It would be interesting to compare rates of pancreatitis between different methods of weight loss. I’d assume it’s not an MJ effect but a weight loss effect.

Azuresky68 · 27/06/2025 08:05

@FurForksSake definitely looks like a strange fitting dress. At least it was only £1.50!
