@FurForksSake sizing is just nonsense. If you are happy with how you feel now, then that is fine.

I noticed something interesting today. I've got family coming for dinner tomorrow and I was making the dessert in advance (rhubarb and ginger cheesecake).

I made the ginger biscuit crumble base. I tasted it and tested it (twice) and finished off the buttery-biscuity crumbs in the bowl. Blush

I made the sweet vanilla rhubarb compote. I tasted it and tested it (twice). Blush

I made the dreamy, creamy cheese. With stem ginger (which I tasted and tested) Blush and with some rhubarb compote. I tasted and tested the whole thing. Delicious.

BUT probably had several hundred calories in the process. Oops.

But, noticing that is good,. It made me realise that years of cooking delicious meals also has me sampling and tasting in the kitchen (the cook's perk). That will account for a proportion of my weight gain. That and the cook's glass of cooking wine!

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/06/2025 23:13

@owlyboo you have a good memory. Yes I did 2mths on 10. Possibly 3 as was my sweet spot lol. Tho then needed more higher was last few weeks on it wasn’t working

oh you did every 2w. Wow. I was worried to drop so quickly tho missed out 12.5?

@Fatmumslim01 - 2 eggs - chilled ham or bacon - chopped peppers , onions and 30g of cheese which is 286c

put in a liner /dish and I do 160/165 for 15mins then jump in shower

love not having to flip or watch to burn it under grill

@FurForksSake. Size 8. Wow but do you usually fit into 8

re clothing sizes - The shops here are dire and I gave up buying online years ago apart from two companies that make it financially viable to return things from the Middle East to the UK because of sizing issues for example. I used to get so cross and disappointed when I’d do a clothes order and sizing was even different from within the same company. So a top in a size 18 for example could fit yet another top in an 18 from the same manufacturer wouldn’t. I’d be left with loads of clothes to do something with so I just stopped buying, mind you though they have come in handy recently as I’ve not had to buy anything since last year. It’s why I just don’t even bother shopping online (or in stores) apart from Robell trousers that are consistent size wise. Kettlewell that have a great overseas return policy so I can order two sizes in each item and return the size that doesn’t fit for the equivalent of 10 pounds and it’s done very quickly with DHL. I also use next for my grandchildren as they have a return policy that costs about 8 pounds. People think it must be really restrictive to shop from a limited amount of stores but between the stores I use, my lady in Dubai, I’m sorted and it suits me down to the ground. Oh but I did get lovely kick flare jeans from American Eagle recently after being persuaded by one of my girls to try them on and those are the jeans I’ll wear from now on. They’re really nice but even their sizing was iffy diffy when I tried on others.

FurForksSake · 22/06/2025 12:57

I thought I’d try size 8 as a lot of my 10s have got pretty baggy. Haven’t bought anything from new look though.

Weepixie · 22/06/2025 16:28

@FurForksSake could your 10’s be baggy because they’ve loosened up in the wash, and the older they get.

FurForksSake · 22/06/2025 16:31

No; they are definitely too big, they aren’t stretchy and I’ve not had them long.

Weepixie · 22/06/2025 16:48

I once read that to drop a dress size you have to lose a stone. Fingers crossed for you that when you lose your last stone you can put your new frock on and love it.

Weepixie · 22/06/2025 17:25

love this article and it’s what I’ve aimed for from day one. What I call a whole person approach to weight loss and I’m really happy my thoughts have apparently been on the right lines all along. In fact in the series of interviews I’m doing there’s one episode where I stress the day you start Mounjaro is the day you start seriously thinking about every day of the rest of your life. And I really do mean thinking about the whole person, not just the weight loss but the health and fitness aspect also which is so often not spoken about when people talk of their progress. Don’t start exercising the day you get to target. Start it the same day you start Mounjaro if you don’t already excercise, even if it’s just moving more.

And the health aspect - have a complete health check and blood tests done before you start so that the health aspect of being on Mounjaro is cemented into your thoughts, then look forward to the day when even 6 months down the line you can have the blood tests done again to see your progress that doesn’t include scales and clothes.

Then there’s how important of our emotional and mental health is - try and get that in a better place along the way which could then help with maintenance. And I know it’s not easy but I do sincerely believe in the whole person approach to what we’ve been doing.

Im really glad I came across the article.

The biggest mistake I see in patients coming off Ozempic

We've all heard about the 'food noise' roaring back, the intense hunger cravings, the uncontrollable weight gain. It's enough to scare anyone off putting down 'the pen'.

Yea and no

I dropped 20 to 16 on 4/5s so 17/ to 13/12s so 2 sizes

then dropped 2 sizes on one stone 12-11

the last stone really made a diff

Just checking in with my Monday weigh day,
11.11 this morning.. a bmi of 23.8. Only 5 more lb to go to reach my goal.. its going very slow now though which is fine, so thinking probably another month and I can try maintain it..

Slimhopes · 23/06/2025 12:21

Hi everyone, I’m down another pound or two so I’m 8st 9lbs today and bmi 23.6 - very similar to you @morbidcuriosity. I’d like to be 8st but also going on holdiay at the end of this week for two weeks and worried about gaining while I’m away. It’s half board and while I’ll be careful, I’ll be eating more than my usual 830 calories 😬 trying to accept maybe 4 lbs or so ‘gain’ and then getting back on track when I’m back. Even thought of packing my scales😅 feeling a bit out of control about the change in food circumstances🙈

lookathatbookcase · 23/06/2025 12:38

Back on the horse (2.5mg) :) Really interesting how familiar it now all seems this time around - the feeling of suppression, making sure I'm drinking a ton of water, very high protein (small) meals, eating slowly, feeling hunger but knowing that I only need a little food to manage it; and of course, being able to sort the pen and inject in under a minute. A little headache and tiredness a day after injecting but much lighter than before and that side-effect also went quickly last time. I guess it's also easier bc of how I changed my eating habits the first time, and then kept that up whilst I was off it.

I think the hunger bit is the most relevant for maintenance in the longer term - before MJ, feeling hunger would have been an excuse to eat EVERYTHING (especially if sad, especially carbs); on MJ, I felt hunger but only needed a tiny amount of food; and then in the 6 months I was off it, I realised that a 'normal' amount of food would sate hunger, not an entire buffet. Separating emotions from physical hunger, and being intentional about food is the thing, for me.

Weepixie · 23/06/2025 13:06

@lookathatbookcase one of the things I’ve done on Mounjaro is practice being hungry. Not starving. I’ve just practiced the reality that it’s normal to feel hunger leading up to a meal time and it’s nothing to panic about. I know it probably sounds daft but before Mounjaro I’d forgotten what an honest feeling peckish, of hungry, or being ready for my lunch or dinner felt like but now I know and I’m completely at peace with telling myself just relax, you’ll have your dinner etc when you get home. There is no need to stop anywhere on the road and panic buy something (rubbish usually) because you’re hungry, you’re not starving and you’re certainly not going to die if you don’t eat right now.

@morbidcuriosity i think we’re on target to start maintenance at about the same time. Are you looking forward to it? I am. I’m quite excited about it. Not that I’ll be ag my BMI. I’m not following it. But I will be at a healthy and appropriate weight for me.

@Slimhopes - well done in another pound lost. Enjoy your holiday.

morbidcuriosity · 23/06/2025 13:30

I don't really like the bmi thing, but I wanted to be under 25 and an apparent normal weight.. lol.
But now I feel another half stone or just less is right for me.
I finally see myself as smaller now, like much smaller than I was, I double take when I see reflections of myself, and I have cctv at work and when I see myself I'm like, oh wow I look ok. Haha..

WorriedRelative · 23/06/2025 13:31

Flipping heck I lost you!

Hope everyone is OK, I will catch up on the thread now

Morning!

I had a really hungry snacky day yesterday, but scales have gone down again so no harm done.

ive just eaten a massive yoghurt bowl, fat free Greek yoghurt, protein powder, crunchy bran and granola. I should have defrosted some raspberries! I’m hoping the 40+ grams of protein and the crunchiness keep me full.

we are planning burgers for dinner, I’ll have the burger without the bun, some salad and some homemade chips.

im seeing a private hip surgeon this afternoon, dh is coming back from central London to take me. I’m hoping they’ll do an mri and some weight baring X-rays for me. I’d love to see the difference in mri, I didn’t have one at my biggest but a lot bigger than j am now.

lookathatbookcase · 24/06/2025 13:22

@Blondeshavemorefun - yes! Came off in December; original weight loss of just under 3 stone, then gained 6lb over 6 months (and I'm fine with that). @Weepixie 's point about learning to be hungry was also crucial for me too, and balancing that with regular meals.

MabelSpan · 24/06/2025 14:55

Just hopping on to thank @Blondeshavemorefun for talking about buying stuff on Temu.
After reading about the things you had got, I decided to take the plunge and have a look.
I now have lots of gardening goodies and several summer dresses and trousers, which were all incredibly good value.😀

So thank you for making me even poorer than I was already, what with MJ too! Just what I didnt need...a new addiction!😂

Azuresky68 · 24/06/2025 15:16

Which one is mine? It was called the 'healthy breakfast' but in my opinion the other one is healthier apart from a couple of items. I am only eating 2 meals a day and breakfast is the biggest meal. My downfall is the alcohol. I am not worrying about that. When I started MJ i counted calories and limited alcohol. Now at goal I am enjoying holiday and will deal with any gains when I get home

The one on the left is healthier as the one on the right is full of saturated fats and animal fats as well as processed items and carbs/sugar. The one on the left is what would be considered a Mediterranean style of diet and that’s something we should all be trying to live.

Which one were you told was healthier and did healthier mean calories, and not actually healthier?

I do like their summer dresses

@Azuresky68 that’s the best attitude. Enjoy holiday and sort out gain if any when bacon

@Blondeshavemorefunyes each dose two weeks as I can down until 5 then did around 4 weeks on 5 now I’m on week 2 of 2.5. So even though you needed the big doses you might find it relatively easy coming back down 🤞

good luck for x ray @FurForksSake

enjoy you hols @Azuresky68

i still haven’t had my ‘love’ for food back. I eat because I’m hungry or it’s time to eat but I don’t ever love what I’m eating. I’ve tried mixing it up and buying lots of different things but everything I eat I feel pretty meh. Especially meals. Weird!

Timetochange24 · 24/06/2025 18:23

My local nhs has posted a response to all the people trying to get weightloss drugs prescribed. Apart from the rigid criteria (bmi over 40 and at least four significant health risks), they will only prescribe with:

  • blood tests
  • training by a professional to self inject
  • regular healthy lifestyle support
  • consideration of other weightloss options
  • psychological assessment
  • gp has to agree it's right for the patient
  • regular monitoring by the GP

I'm not one for anecdata but I'm sitting here with my healthy BMI without any of that. The treatment was prescribed by a health profession. I know they have to manage demand and safety, but this really feels like overkill. At BMI 34 I had high cholesterol, sleep apnea, probably high blood pressure, and possibly the start of heart disease, but wouldn't qualify for nhs support. I'd just be put on a waiting list for weight watchers or sent to the patronising lady at the council healthy lifestyle team who's paid to say "eat less, move more, just tell your husband to get the baby to nursery while you exercise at 5am before your 7.15 train." I'm very grateful to have been able to access a private prescription.

FurForksSake · 24/06/2025 18:39

Yes, I thought that too, I wouldn’t have been accepted. I was referred for one of the weight loss groups. It wasn’t helpful for me. I think there is an element of helping people with bmis just over 30 as a preventative so we don’t have the healthcare costs that could be hiding down the line.

X-rays and consultant were very painful, but the X-rays were beautifully clear! And not one mention of my weight or stress on joints. Which was very nice!
