I am on an average salary & am fortunate to have low outgoings which thankfully means I can afford MJ comfortably.
However I am a saver by nature so am at odds with myself as I don't like the thought of this be a long term bill but then I can't see myself coming off it as I have never maintained weight loss before.

Motnight · 17/07/2025 17:58

I have come to terms with paying for MJ for the rest of my life. I mean I'd rather not but I'm paying for health and fitness and feeling good. I know that I am lucky to be able to do this (assuming nothing terrible happens financially for me)!

Weepixie · 17/07/2025 18:03

I’m coming off Mounjaro as soon as I can because this is my very last chance to lose weight and keep it off for ever. Being fat has taken up the last 20 years of my life, as has being in emotional agony everyday because of it (and other things) so enough is enough.

Im absolutely done with it and have spent years leading up to this moment which is why I say Mounjaro is the end of my journey, not the start. But then I did have a cancer diagnosis, a very rare one that has no long term medical/treatment options and life is generally horrifically short after diagnosis unless it’s caught at stage 1A for eg, which thankfully mines was. It really does make you think about things!

Ive also spent years in counselling so I’m pretty sure I’ve now dealt with my heart and my head to the extent that though there are still things that cause me to have a sore heart, I know I’m not going to try and anaesthetise the heartache with food any more. My head is sorted when it comes to my sore heart and will hopefully see me through the things that will forever hurt. You do know it’s ok (and possible) to be sorted about things psychologically but for your heart to still be sore?

And of course money plays a part. I’m paying a huge amount for Mounjaro - just under 380 pounds a month and whilst I can pay it - I don’t want to. There are other things I’d rather do with it - I love travelling (but I also love perfume and shoes). That said, after I receive my next pen that’s me done with my UK supplier and I’ll be getting my maintenance pens from India. No, It’s nothing dodgy, yes it’s the real thing, I’m just going to be taking advantage of my daughters colleague going home every month till the end of the year when I hope to be off maintenance Mounjaro and going it alone. I’ll have my prescription done here and she’ll take it to the Kerala branch of a very well known hospital we also have here. The same hospital that charges just under 500 pounds a month here but about 140 pounds a month in India. You couldn’t make it up. Honestly, not even that difference in price is making me think about micro-dosing going forward. I really am done with my weight being such a huge part of my life and I have to take away the awful power it had over me.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/07/2025 18:39

Sounds about our cost. Think 10 is £140

Thanks for kind comments on last post, all. Friend is actually usually the opposite of a Mail/Telegraph-reader, usually very thoughtful and aware of how media stuff is spun, so this was all a surprise. But chatted to my hairdresser today about this as part of a bigger chat about Botox, etc and how below-the-radar so much of this stuff is, and she said a bunch of her clients are on MJ and barely anyone knows about it.

@Weepixie That is such an enormous price difference! And yes to: "You do know it’s ok (and possible) to be sorted about things psychologically but for your heart to still be sore?". This is the essence of emotions and feelings, right? You can be fine and emotionally sorted and still, the feelings happen.

Can you see it as part of your health and wellbeing routine? People spend lots on gym memberships, hairdressers and beauty treatment. If MJ is good for your physical and mental health then can you accept that you are worth it? (Remember the L'Oreal advert?)

@lookathatbookcase hi there.

I lost track of that and I think a very big part of it was due to how we are told nowadays to move on (emotionally)or ‘get over it’. I was so confused at one stage I thought it meant neutralising my head and my heart then slamming the doors to those places within me never to be visited again. But it’s not like that and I’m pretty sure I can’t be the only other person alive who’s ever been confused by it. In fact nowadays I’m quite happy/relieved to still have a sore heart because of certain life experiences. It means such a lot to me. 🤣

Weepixie · 17/07/2025 20:24

@Blondeshavemorefun that must be very difficult to live with, especially the way things have worked out and I’m sorry you’re in this position.

Give us his address @Blondeshavemorefun and we'll go round and sit on him. Will probably take half a dozen of us to do him proper damage but I am sure that we can manage it!

lookathatbookcase · 17/07/2025 22:33

@Weepixie Oh absolutely - one of the very many things that my amazing counsellor and I talked about was how getting through the bad stuff wasn't about just burying it in the ground, but having the tools to manage those feelings when they, or their triggers, come around again. Portia Nelson's poem, 'Autobiography in 5 Short Chapters' helped me think about that a lot: https://www.doorway-to-self-esteem.com/autobiography-in-five-short-chapters.html

I wish. He doesn’t care. Won’t get a job as will lose his rent being paid for and cms would claim 14% of his
gross wage to pay me

and he wonders why I’m so pissed off in general

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/07/2025 06:53

WWJ and maintaining which is pretty good as I’ve been bad for food this week

Tobys lunch and 1/2 kebab for tea wed

Beefeater breakie and other 1/2 kebab for tea last night

The donor kebab was lush !! Prob many calories but hey ho

Not sure what Will eat tonight

Pizza express Tom for my birthday

Prob find that next week I will gain due to this week

I’m still 4lbs under my goal weight so happy days so even if go back to 11 I’m ok as my original leeway was 11-11.4 So just over 6.5s loss 😀

New 10 came. I’m going to stick with 10 and see how pain is as I said the other day I can def feel pain back in ankle knee and hips where I have arthritis Since lowering dose - but maybe I did it too fast

As did 15 then 10 and skipped 12.5 then after 2w on 10 I did 7.5 and really noticed it

@lookathatbookcase thank you. I loved the poem. A very nice take on ‘doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results’.

I’m not sleeping well at all just now so my mind was wandering in the middle of the night and I thought of another thing that’s said to people nowadays. It’s this thing about ‘stuck’. You know - you need to get over it, you need to move on because it’s so obvious you’re ‘stuck’. And there we sit with our sore heart whilst thinking there’s something wrong with us because we shouldn’t be stuck. But we’re more than likely not stuck, we’re just in pain that we are coping with and no, I’m not pathetic, or lacking, or enjoying the attention it brings, wanting sympathy blah blah blah. I’m just hurting and I will probably always hurt about x y or z (probably all three) and that’s okay so bugger off with your ‘stuck’ before I tell you where to stick it. 🤣

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/07/2025 08:21

@Weepixie sorry for the sore heart

heart ache is awful. As much as I miss dh 1 and my mum both died over 10yrs ago - I can’t blame their death and my sorrow for the weight gain. That was me

Forgot to say that when I married my ex I paid off all his credit card debts. I had completly forgotten that. He had no money and I had my own property that tripled in value in the 80's housing boom. We never had any money even though he had a good job. I was broke for a good few years. 19 years after we split he still has no money and lives in sheltered accommodation (he's only a year older than me) I have the life of Riley! Things will get better Blondes I promise. They are already better by 6.5 stones and you look fabulous 👌Celebrating strong independent women!!

Azuresky68 · 18/07/2025 09:27

Trying hard to change my approach to ceebrations. Yesterday it was my other half's actual birthday so we went to his favourite fish restaurant. I had poached salmon with parsley sauce, peas and three new potatoes. Later in the day we had coffee and he had cake with his. I wasn't tempted at all. Before MJ i would have felt I was missing out. My gradual weight gain over 2022 to 2024 of 2 stone was due to the new exciting phase of my life that started in 2020 going out with him for lots of nice breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Before that I never allowed myself to enjoy food and ate in a very controlled way...but still overweight 😱
Going to work very hard now on my mindset to not think I am missing out or deprived if I dont eat 'naughty treats' Its pretty ingrained as I was brought up with a lot of control over food.
Now a treat will be something nice to wear that I don't really 'need' Thank goodness for Temu and Shein!

Weepixie · 18/07/2025 09:31

@Blondeshavemorefun thank you, but honestly, I’m really good. My posts were probably more about others who don’t know it’s okay to be heart sore and that and if you are, it’s doesn’t mean your lacking/that your a wimp/that your stuck/that you can’t or won’t move on/that you need to get over ‘it’, whatever ‘it’ is. You can actually be heart sore and sorted in your head at the same time.

Im wasn’t fat because of bereavement or other heartache in my life - but I was fat because I couldn’t cope with years of horrendous life experiences so I found comfort in food. I know what the difference in both things are as far as I my understanding of them goes but I can’t explain it.

FurForksSake · 18/07/2025 09:52

I’m super confused, I’ve just drawn up golden dose for the first time and there was well over 1ml left. So I injected 0.6-0.7 worth and I think I must have been on dose 4 today, but didn’t have a last needle. Then I realised one of my needles bent! So have not used golden dose, but have injected dose 4 with a needle. Never mind. I’ll try and remember for next time to draw 0.6 and if there is more left use my brain.

morbidcuriosity · 18/07/2025 13:08

Just had my weight verification call for oushk, was quicker and easier than I thought, I read some people couldn't see themselves in the video chat, but I could which made it easier, driving licence up to camera, then I stood at the lounge door with a tape measure then onto the scales.. which today is 11 stone 7.. wow.. 1lb away from 7 stone loss.. reckon I can hit that by Monday weigh day!!

Also I've been using up a rouge 5mg pen I had in the fridge by doing 10mg Monday and top up of 2.5 Thursday, but Monday just gone was my bonus dose and I took the lot which was 12.5.. man I felt that for a few days, only just today feeling good.. had major supression and 1st time ever felt a bit queezy , only for about 10 minutes after my tea. But been eating basically plain chicken breast and protein shakes for 3 days.. back to normal now though, phew.

I'm definatly on thr maintenence now, 11 and half is what I'm happy with, happy to go a few lb less though as want 11 and half to be my top weight ..

FurForksSake · 18/07/2025 13:22

7 stone!! Wow that’s amazing. Glad your call was easy.
