Omg yes its nearly a year!! I think i was 3rd or 4th August i need to check. Thank you for your support, you're all right i need to be happy and im not 100% with myself.
@Weepixie that's my main reason I wouldn't go up above 4mg because of how it made me feel, I wasn't in a good place at one point. Both my mother and older Sister were/are bi-polar and my oldest nephew is a diagnosed Schizophrenic. My mental health scares me at times and I do think it needs to be highlighted that people with MH conditions on MJ need monitored closely. Xx

FurForksSake · 15/07/2025 20:11

I do find how it affects people very interesting. The impact on inflammation and addiction seems brilliant, but the mental health side is definitely in need of exploring.

owlyboo · 15/07/2025 20:13

Looking good @Blondeshavemorefunno one looks good naked… bodies are weird!

and that’s a fab NSV @Weepixiecongrats!

I found the last couple of stone was when I really saw the differences @Redlightbulbso all the best times to come!!! And yes I always did my face but I was awful at moisturising my body but now I do it every night. I think I found it to depressing when there was so much to moisturise!!!

good luck with the second try @foxlover47@lookathatbookcase

i know exactly when I started 20th August!

it’s been very windy here today but still sunny and warm. Gives rain tomorrow 😭 summer holiday long forecast looks crappy… not happy!

lookathatbookcase · 15/07/2025 22:12

Gah. Had drinks tonight with a very dear friend. Over the course of conversation, she started talking about an elderly aunt who she's just found out has been prescribed Ozempic for her diabetes, and she went off on one from there: how at least this aunt (who apparently now looked great!) had been prescribed for the 'right' reasons, how this was all a medical disaster waiting to happen, how in 5 years time we'd see loads of people with liver disease (??), how it was undoing all the work around body positivity. She finished by saying that she felt strongly about this because of her history with eating disorders (restrictive eating).

And just - argh. I really understand where she's coming from as her eating disorders were bad and she still gets affected when she's stressed. I also share her fears about what all of this does around body image. BUT, man. I was thinking ok, time to start telling a few more people about this. I can't deal with how the strongest blowback I've heard about GLP-1's has come from people who have never experienced the type of weight gain, or disordered relationship with food that I, and I suspect lots of folks here have. Just feeling rubbish and sad.

FurForksSake · 15/07/2025 22:23

My obesity caused non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. I’m hoping losing weight will have reversed it. MJ has been prescribed for years, so we are pretty safe I think.

incant work out why it gets people so upset, we’ve all done some research, risk assessed it and made a decision. I don’t talk about taking mj in real life as it’s so judged.

owlyboo · 15/07/2025 22:23

@lookathatbookcase don’t feel rubbish and sad.

that’s her opinion. It doesn’t make it right. Obesity is a serious problem that can cause really big problems both for the person and the NHS.

people do not see a problem for taking medication for many different diseases but draw the line at obesity for no real reason other than ‘their opinion’

you’ve made a great decision for your body and health and she’s just spouting things she’s read on the mail online.

hugs Flowers

BettyandtheVets · 16/07/2025 06:44

Just checking in and to say thank you again to all the regular posters who keep this thread alive and provide massive support to us all. I read it every day without fail and I really do need to post more.

@lookathatbookcase funnily enough I was just thinking about us all a year on from making this life changing decision. A year ago it was still all ‘you’re taking medication away from diabetics’ ‘you’re taking an unknown medication ‘it’s dangerous’. Newspaper articles abounded with horror stories, nutritionists and physical trainers all saying this is not the way to loose weight (changed their tune now haven’t they).

how brave we were at that time. We did our due diligence, weighed the risks vs benefits and took the plunge. I cannot imagine my life without MJ now and the benefits for losing weight have been monumental.

I seem to have broken the plateau I was stuck on with around a 4lb loss over the last couple of weeks. I seem vague because although I weigh every day, I only record losses, never a gain, so my bookkeeping isn’t really up to scratch! @FurForksSake advice to up the calories worked a treat, along with increasing my water which, despite me knowing is the game changer, is always something that wanes far too easily.

@owlyboo please don’t ever feel like we don’t want to hear from you and others who have got to goal!! I love to hear how you’re all doing.

sorry for the essay….

Azuresky68 · 16/07/2025 08:34

I have applied to be a film extra as they do lots of filming in the city where I live. A photo of me in smart dress was required. Got my sister to take it yesterday. It's what I used to wear for work as a HolidayTour Director. Same clothes but a much smaller body! Been trying to sell the jacket on Vinted as I dont need office type clothes anymore

@lookathatbookcase and @owlyboo thank you so much
I honestly struggled on 10mg it made me feel so drained then I had some life things get in the way so looking forward to getting back in the right head space x
we will get back on track @lookathatbookcase :)
@Blondeshavemorefun you look amazing , what would Pauline behind her curtain think ha ha

foxlover47 · 16/07/2025 12:02

@Azuresky68 you look beautiful , I’m sure you will get the work :)

foxlover47 · 16/07/2025 12:06

@owlyboo that’s almost a year and you’ve hit goal that’s just brilliant:)
it’s inspiring to talk to goal achievers , knowing it is possible
I’ve read a lot about the major lows that come with taking this , I’ve been on anti depressants for over 20 years on and off , mostly on
im on venlaflaxine now , when I started on the 10mg dose I felt knocked for six , I stayed on 10mg for three pens as I couldn’t be sure if it was the dose or my own depression but I felt like I was wrecked. I was really lucky side effect wise before I took 10mg , low level sulphur burps on 7.5 and just felt cold a lot but I do think 10mg made me more miserable

@Blondeshavemorefun I know you don't like your hips / thighs but I am envious of your curves - what a fantastic waist! I'm like an oblong in the middle - completely flat down the back (no bum left), straight down the sides from ribs to hips, then some strange lumps and bumps on the front - sad empty boobs and a never-to-recover caeserian tummy! But I feel so much healthier and more alive, and I can move around much better.

@lookathatbookcase See my final sentence above. I am so much healthier than this time last year, and with the support on here, and other MJ threads, I feel armed with strategies to move successfully into maintenance (I'm only at the start of that phase). I see your friend's comments like any other uninformed advice that people give - people who suggest PND is just the baby blues, or that sever mental health issues can be sorted by getting out for a bracing walk and doing some relaxation / meditation. There are physical / hormonal / endocrine / immunilogical / allergic response in our bodies that no one else has a clue about. Just smile and nod, smile and nod.

Individually I think we've all done great things for our own health, and collectively I think we've done something to reduce the burden on the NHS. Yet we are fortunate - somehow we have all managed to cobble together the resources to keep paying for our prescriptions (maybe with some breaks). Others will simply not be able to do this, and I look forward to the day when WLI's are produced generically and therefore more affordable to individuals or precribed more reaily on the NHS. We have been 2nd wave pioneers, and I think we are a testament to the benefits - even if many of us do not share that publicly.

@Azuresky68 what a fantastic photo. You look brimming with health - and not short.

20bloodypounds · 16/07/2025 20:51

A size 10 dress that I'm glad I kept. I also have little need of a dress and jacket combo, but still can't bear to part with everything!

Beautiful photos, ladies!

Timetochange24 · 17/07/2025 06:55

Amazing photos Auggies!

I'm just catching up. Love chatgpt too - recently got it doing some super helpful stuff at work and will definitely get it recipe planning for me. I still haven't got much appetite so I'm finding it hard to think creatively about what to cook/shop for.

I find it really frustrating when people focus on the small % of serious side effects rather than than high % of people achieving amazing health improvements. Chemo is pretty tough on the body, but it saves lives. You don't get people saying that it's wrong. I was speaking to someone about kids and smartphones the other day (growing evidence that they're really messing up young people) and he jumped straight on to WLI, as another thing that society "doesn’t know the risks of." Obesity brings so many serious health risks and affects so many people. I've never been comfortable with body positivity that normalises obesity. A small number of people with a high BMI might be athletes with high muscle mass etc. Most will not. Let's be honest - none of us were the weights we were last August because of our intense training regime, were we?

Anyways, time to stop typing, drag children out of bed, find the dregs of school uniform that hasn't been wrecked during the year, and walk the dog. Roll on the summer holidays. We're limping towards the end of term!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/07/2025 10:59

@20bloodypounds I’m liking them a bit more now as weight is falling off them

I measure once a month now and they look better then previous months so when check tom I assume I would have lost something off them

And size 10. Well done !!

I must admit I would sacrifice other things to keep affording it after having to stop them few months because it made me feel worse , disappointed in myself and of course I gained weight again so it’s a absolute priority to me now to make sure I buy it

Bless you @foxlover47

that's how my brain is thinking - obv I haven’t been off but been powering to stop and pain is increasing

so I said previously I think I need to stay on for the cost v the cost of pain

It's going to be different for everyone..health and finances are probably main factors. so this is purely personal to me. Cost of MJ is affordable for me as I rarely buy a coffee when out, never get takeaways, only go for meals and alcohol on special occaissions, shop at Aldi, make my meals from scratch and don't buy expensive clothes or jewellery. When I got divorced 19 years ago my income was £9k a year 😱 I rarely went out and never went on holiday and I was FAT 😢 The joy of being in a happy place and being slim is worth cost for me. Happy days are here at last 😀

Azuresky68 · 17/07/2025 17:27
